It looks like it's going to be a long and hard season for Chelsea. This is probably the weakest squad they've had in years.

Arsenal's majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has made a £600m offer to buy the whole of the club in a deal that would value the Gunners at £1.8bn.

Interesting piece on the BBC website regarding last season.
'Liverpool were the 'unluckiest' team in the Premier League last season while Manchester United were the 'luckiest', new research claims. The Reds dropped 12 points in matches affected by wrongly disallowed goals or incorrect decisions on penalties and red cards, says a study conducted by ESPN, Intel and the University of Bath.' https://bbc.co.uk/sport/football/45087444 |

Roy Hodgson has signed an contract extension with Crystal Palace until 2020. I wonder how long that will last.... Not long if they have a similar start to last season.

Still nice to be proven right now facts, even if a lot of the logic for accounting points is a little farfetched. |

Didn't need a full statistical analysis to show that, I could have told you just by watching! Still nice to be proven right now facts, even if a lot of the logic for accounting points is a little farfetched. They seem at least to have made some effort to avoid just saying "XXX should have had a penalty in the 13th minute. Let's just assume they scored, add that goal to the actual result and make that the new result". A simple adjustment like that can only really be made if a goal (or penalty) was incorrectly given at the very end of a match. Their inclusion of deflections is a little odd. While you can choose to describe a goal conceded off a deflection as "unlucky", it is rather different from goals resulting (or not resulting) from refereeing errors. Of course, every supporter thinks that their club lost more points than they gained from refereeing errors. By definition, they can't all be right! |

I'm surprised that Pogba is playing today, I would have thought that Jose would have rested him for the first match. Hopefully Pogba will carry his form in the World Cup over to United this season.

I thought Man Utd were pretty decent tonight. They controlled the game 2nd half without needing the ball, Leicester had no idea what to do.

I thought Leicester played well for a lot of the match and were quite unlucky to lose, they just weren't clinical enough but it's a good result for us. I'm glad to see Luke Shaw score his first goal for us and hopefully we'll improve in future matches and build some consistency.

Was a good game overall - ominous the way United controlled the game without the ball and with Leicester seemingly the better side. They have a much stronger centre midfield than Liverpool imo.

We utilise the midfield in different ways, as we don't play with a defensive midfielder as such like most teams do. I think Keita and Fabinho take our midfield to a whole new level, as our weakness in midfield was only Lallana was able to turn with the ball when pressed. In theory we should be much better this year in midfield which was our biggest problem area. |

I hope Arsenal beat Manchester City today, I don't think they will though. A draw would also be a good result for them and for the league as a whole.

I dislike Man City more at the moment
I just want the league to be a lot more open than it was last season, unless if Man United are at the top |

Arsenal were terrible today, can totally see the first 3 months being a bit of a slog for them.
Man City were nowhere near their best. |

You can never rely on Arsenal to give you a good result. Now that Wenger has gone their fans have moved their attention towards moaning about Stan Kronke and how he's not spending enough money. Chelsea will probably beat them next week as well, same old Arsenal. I wonder how Arsene Wenger must have felt watching that match?
On the subject of yesterday's matches Rueben Neves looks like he's going to be one of the best emerging players of the season for Wolves. Cardiff will find themselves in the relegation zone very quickly I think. |
