Very pleasing that we're looking to have 8 new entries this week, don't get that often now.

Hopefully 'Leave Me Alone' has done enough to just make it in, I'm sure Buzzjack will really not like the song though.
Calvin should have no problem entering the top 10 which is great to see too.
Good to see this new Lewis Capaldi song has completely taken over from 'Grace' too, was worried we'd get both being big at the same time but 'Grace' is likely to exit the top 40 this week. 'Someone You Loved' is a lot better!

Kehlani featuring Ty Dolla $ign
Nights Like This
-

1st Single
Released: 10th January 2019
Label: TSNMI / Atlantic Recording Corporation

Video

Biography

Contemporary R&B singer and songwriter Kehlani Parrish studied ballet and modern dance at the Oakland School for the Arts. An injury prompted a move to OSA's music department, where she blossomed as a vocalist. During eighth grade, she joined Poplyfe, a band that competed on America's Got Talent during the program's sixth season. Following an affable performance of Travie McCoy's "Billionaire," judge Piers Morgan noted that he thought Kehlani, the frontperson, could be successful without the band. While Kehlani brushed the notion aside, she eventually went solo and presented herself as a slightly younger, more down-to-earth alternative to contemporary R&B artists like Jhené Aiko. Her first release, the eight-track Cloud19, was released in 2014, and a pair of its songs registered on Billboard's Twitter Emerging Artists chart. A lengthier set, You Should Be Here, followed in 2015 with guest appearances from BJ the Chicago Kid and Chance the Rapper. Shortly after its release, major-label Atlantic announced that it had signed Kehlani to a recording contract. You Should Be Here was later nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Urban Contemporary Album. Atlantic released several Kehlani tracks during 2015 and 2016, including "Gangsta," her first crossover hit, taken from Suicide Squad: The Album. Kehlani's first proper full-length, SweetSexySavage, arrived on Atlantic in early 2017. Featuring the singles "CRZY" and "Distraction," the album peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. - iTunes

Rudimental featuring Ray BLK & Stefflon Don
Scared Of Love
Toast To Our Differences | 2019

5th Single
Released: 11th January 2019
Label: Asylum Records UK

Video

Biography

London-based electronic outfit Rudimental originally came together in 2009 as the production name of duo Piers Agget and Kesi Dryden. Years later, they made their debut as artists with their U.K. number one single "Feel the Love." Agget's DJ'ing brought him into contact with DJ Locksmith, who joined the pair, followed later by a chance meeting with Amir Amor at a studio in Hoxton, London. Rudimental's first release, 2011's dancehall-inspired "Deep in the Valley," appeared on garage, grime, and dubstep label Black Butter and was quickly followed by "Speeding" and "Spoons." Picked up by Asylum Records/Warner Music off the back of their first few singles, 2012 saw the release of the drum'n'bass roller "Feel the Love." Championed by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, the single reached the top of the U.K. charts the same weekend as the four-piece played on their home turf at the Radio 1 2012 Hackney Weekender. In 2013, Rudimental's debut album Home arrived. Working with some of the U.K.'s finest talent, including the voice of 2012, Emeli Sandé, the album's mix of dubstep, R&B, house, and drum'n'bass received positive reviews and went straight into the number one spot on the U.K. album chart. Hit singles from the album continued into 2014, including the U.K. number one "Waiting All Night," which won a BRIT Award for Best British Single. Rudimental scored another big hit in 2015 with the Ed Sheeran collaboration "Bloodstream," and geared up for the release of their second full-length, We the Generation, which included collaborations with Dizzee Rascal, Anne-Marie, MNEK, Lianne La Havas, Bobby Womack, and several others. The second Sheeran feature on the album, "Lay It All on Me," became the duo's first U.S.-charting song and their eighth U.K. Top 40 track. The song also went platinum in Australia, Denmark, Italy, New Zealand, and the U.K. In 2017, the pair recruited James Arthur for the single "Sun Comes Up." - iTunes

Wouldn't surprise me if the Kehlani song makes the top 40 in the coming weeks as it's had a decent start on Spotify.
The new Rudimental one is likely to miss the top 100 entirely though, OUCH! They really can't seem to follow up 'These Days' successfully.

Two Bee Gees songs in the top 10 this week in 1999. As well as 'Tragedy' by Steps 'You Should Be' by Blockster is based around their 1976 hit 'You Should Be Dancing'.

I always find it odd that 911 finally got a No.1 after so many years and then immediately faded away. Rather than such an accolade helping them to become even bigger, it was almost like once they'd achieved their ultimate goal there was nothing left to do. Then again, a similar thing happened to The Saturdays after What About Us, although their sudden fade out after so many years wasn't *quite* as extreme.

I'm glad they finally got a No.1 but they had far better songs than A Little Bit More, and the Another Level song was much better, although hardly a classic either.

The Cassius song, however, is a classic and should have been top three.

That 2009 top 10 is <3 So many great songs, 2009 was a great year for music.

2014's top 10 is odd. The Elyar Fox track is crap, and I have no idea how it went top five, and Matrix and Futurebound songs and Sub Focus tracks are decent, but both were unexpected top tens.

Wasn't Elyar Fox a semi-popular YouTuber at the time and went top five pretty much due to his fanbase buying multiple copies (and it had big Capital airplay).

They tried the same tactic with his next single (it was a Buzzmeme at the time just how many versions there were of it) but it only went to #11 and he was then never heard of again.

They were the first group to win the competition, and following their victory, they signed with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music and released a cover of Damien Rice's "Cannonball" as their winner's single. The members are Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jesy Nelson.

Little Mix released their debut album DNA in 2012, which peaked inside the top 10 in ten countries including the UK and US. This made Little Mix the first girl group since the Pussycat Dolls to reach the US top five with their debut album, as well as earning the highest debut US chart position for a British girl group's first release, breaking the record previously held by the Spice Girls. The group's second album Salute (2013) became their second album to debut inside the top 10 in both the UK and US. Their third album Get Weird was released in 2015. Their fourth album Glory Days (2016) became their first number one album in the UK, and also achieved the longest-reigning girl group number one album since the Spice Girls' debut album 20 years earlier, and the highest first week UK album sales for a girl band since 1997. In the UK, the group has earned four number-one singles, including "Wings", "Black Magic" and "Shout Out to My Ex".

The group won Best British Single for "Shout Out to My Ex" at the 2017 Brit Awards; they have also received several other awards during their career, including two MTV Europe Music Awards, two Teen Choice Awards and two Glamour Awards. As of August 2018, the group has achieved four platinum certified albums and sixteen certified singles in the UK. Little Mix appeared on Debrett's 2017 list of the most influential people in the UK.
