Yes

The welfare of the public who are being harrassed by the little creature is far more important than the welfare of the chav, yes I see no reason why he should not be caged if he is a menace to society and a persistent offender

Can't do the time ? don't do the crime

What they do is terrible

I would far rather cage 8 year olds than have 75 year olds barricade themselves in their homes at night because they are so terrified

Not everyone is angelic at 8/10/12 or whatever, the Bulger killers were 10 when they killed so someone who is evil and a danger to the public needs to be locked up

There is a very simple solution for an 8 year old or 10 year old or whatever to avoid borstal :

Don't commit crimes

So you're going to base your opinion of ALL 8/10/12 yr olds on ONE case? Which was probably just a one-off or wtev?

Its nothing to do with all 8/10/12 year olds, the majority of 8-12 year olds are perfectly law abiding citizens but its the feral vermin that commit the kind of stuff that Mary was talking about that need to be taken out of circulation

It still works in other countries though so I don't see why it would not work here

Yeah, like Israel, huh...? And what a shining example THAT is, where more and more Israeli kids are resisting against going into enforced military servitude because they DONT particularly want to go patrolling in Palestinian areas and shoot at Palestinian kids. And because just about every Israeli PM and Knesset member is ex-armed forces it kinda goes some way to answering why Israel acts in such a fukked up and fascistic manner.....

I agree in principle of a "National Service", but why the fukk people say has to be militarism and square bashing I dunno.... It should be about serving communities in which real people live where that sort of thing could make a real difference, not serving the State.... Or worse yet, serving the imperialistic ambitions of an aggressive foreign power with whom our leaders foolishly cling onto the concept of a "special relationship".....

And kids in Scandinavian countries scarcely actually need the 'disciplining' influence of the military, they've been brought up in a Socialist/Democratic system which actually regards them as of some value to society as opposed to alienating them and treating them like second-class citizens, and actually invests properly in education, health and social welfare....

I agree that a lot of the yobbish behaviour we are witnessing, is down to bad parenting and a failure to instil decent morals and values in their children. Children need good role models and if they are not set a good example by their parents, they will be at an immediate disadvantage. Without rules, set boundaries and discipline, children will suffer and we are seeing the consequences of it. I work in Primary Education and have noticed in the last few years, an increase in the number of children who show no respect for their parents, adults or their peers, although fortunately, they are still vastly outnumbered by the good children. There is only so much we can do in schools to improve their attitude, ultimately, it is down to the family.
