04 Beyoncé (946pts // 31 votes)

One of the best voices of our generation, Beyoncé has won fans as a triple threat. She can sing rings around pretty much anyone, she can dance and she can even act! Dreamgirls >>>> tbh. Most recently, her 2013 self titled album was released without any prior announcement and "to Beyoncé" has now become a verb in itself. The album was a critical and commercial success, as Bey flirted with all different genres across the spectrum to make a masterpiece of an album, one of the best of the past couple of years. She has even eaten up the Destiny's Child forum and made her own, poor Kelly and Michelle.

03 Katy Perry (1010pts // 37 votes)

I never thought 7 years ago when I Kissed A Girl came out that Katy would be on of the big pop girls mere years later! It sounded so much like a novelty hit. Despite how big that was, Katy has outdone it since and bagged countless hits in just a matter of years. Katy always seems to get it right when it comes to perfect, carefree, fun pop that doesn't take itself too seriosuly, but Dark Horse is the best use of trap in pop ever tbh so she can do other styles as well. Currently embroiled in a fued with Taylor Swift, there hasn't been much news on Katy's next album but with Teenage Dream smashing records and Prism doing well, she's sure to keep up her good work.

So it's Britney vs. Rihanna for the #1, but can the pop princess retain her crown or will Rihanna's edge and eye for controversy push her off her perch?

02 Britney Spears (1037pts // 33 voters)

She was last years' winner, but sadly this time she falls to second place. This year saw her first new single in two years, Pretty Girls, which was a bit of a flop and probably her worst single ever... But her legacy is such that one flop or one bad song can't even begin to undo it. Baby One More Time remains one of the most iconic pop debuts of all time, 15 years on, and she has countless pop classics that everyone loves. She's had ups and downs in her personal life and is probably past her commercial best for now, but as recently as 2012 she smashed as a featured vocalist on will.i.am.'s Scream And Shout. Maybe if she tried promiting her own music etc. she'd do better? kink.gif Either way, she's one of the most iconic pop females ever and this is a deserved high placing.

01 Rihanna (1224pts // 40 voters)

2015 hasn't been the best year for Rihanna, FourFiveSeconds smashing despite sounding like a demo of a B-Side aside (I do like it tho, no shade)... R8 is still nowhere to be seen, and 3 years since her last album is a very lengthy hiatus for the queen of popping out an album every year. Commercially, the other singles Bitch Better Have My Money and American Oxygen flopped although the former had a video that amassed a fair number of views. Anyway, enough negatives - Rihanna is one of the biggest popstars of our generation. She nailed R&B in the early days and has branched out to all sorts from dark pop to dance bangers to electronic ballads and everything in between, snatching countless #1s all over the world and selling shedloads in the process. I thought her iffy year might have seen her fall a place or two, but her legacy of tunes saw her through and she's your 2015 Ultimate Female!

What a great top 5! I can't deny Beyoyo of her top 5 placing at all, even if I am a bit more neutral to her than majority of others!

Kelly getting as highs as 5th though *.* SLAY A BIT! A shame that Britney couldn't hold on, but I've been loving Rihanna this era (I know not everyone else has) and I'm glad that if Britney was to lose out to someone it was Rihanna or Katy! (Thankfully only one of them though kink.gif)

Great countdown again LiLi! Thanks for doing this wub.gif

I think there should be a male equivalent. Obviously BJ loves its female artists but there's still a substantial amount of love for male artists too. Is there a group equivalent also?

There used to be, but neither ultimate male or ultimate group/band usually got finished and I'm not sure if it was due to lack of interest or the hosts of them just forgetting to finish them.

If there was interest and somebody was willing to host, there's no reason why we couldn't add either of them to the rate queue!

Thanks for the results Liam, very interesting read! Out of the top contenders I was hoping Britney would take the win, but Rihanna led throughout just about the entirety of the results so Britney or anyone else never really got close enough to challenge.

Yes RiRi ! was hoping her or Beyonce would win but I knew Rihanna probably had more chance winning on this forum so I'm glad that she won biggrin.gif

EXCUSE THIS BUMPAGE.

But, Rihanna really is vastly overrated on this site. Would have rather had any artist from the top 10 (and almost all of the top 20) win over her. With that being said Britney's staying power and title as one of the staple pop icons remains surprisingly unscathed. Lady Gaga and Madonna should have made up the top 3. The rest of the positions in the top ten are very much deserved.

I don't dislike Rhenna, btw. As a singles artist she is brilliant, but her albums are messy to say the least. Minus 'Rated R', I find none of them exceptional.

this made me lol. Has it actually been written by Britney? It's pretty dillusional. Pretty much everyone I know that loved Britney back in the day now thinks she's pretty shit. Ooh La La anyone?
