30 songs for such a tiny country!
Taboo is a confirmed G:Son written song so I am prepared for something good from Christabelle!
The 16 entries are now https://www.tvm.com.mt/mt/eurovision/participants/!
I've checked half of them out so far and most of those would be an improvement on last year. "Taboo" is decent but I think my favourite from those I've heard is "Back to Life" and I also like "Dai Laga" and "Turn It Up". Was hoping "Song for Dad" would be a bit more anthemic but it does sound very Malta
Quick Melfest break and I am here.
BROOKE MUST WIN, that chorus is everything
ALTHOUGH CHRISTABELLE JUST KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK WITH THAT STAGING
Christabelle definitely joining as a last minute contender, but Brooke had the pre-show momentum (and good staging too) and Richard & Joe stands out amongst the female pop. My instinct is saying it's going to be Richard & Joe, but I think Christabelle deserves it after that unexpectedly amazing performance.
Show another recap why don’t you?
It simply MUST be Christabelle!
Well it seems pretty unanimous It had better be good.
Christabelle wins, smashing both the jury and televote!
Talent winning.
I’m glad I only have to deal with this awful channel once this year. Why the pop up ads?
A decent choice there by Malta, much better than last year's!!!
CORRECT DECISION ON THE NIGHT WELL DONE ALL
Shame Back To Life didn't win
What a thoroughly decent (even if not my first) choice, it was this and "Back to Life" that I was going back to the most.
How did that show last nearly as long as actual Eurovision though?
i don't see the fuss. it's very basic. unless there's some incredible staging and she KILLS it live i don't see this making any waves
Liking this entry tbh, but then anything is better than Breathlessly
This is very BJSC 38th place, if it just had a proper anthemic chorus or a drop after "before we all become animals" I'd actually LOVE it. As it stands it just builds and then flatlines to nothing when what it's building to never happens.
Official video with the final version of the song (not a revamp, just a few minor production tweaks)
I think that helps beef it up in the second half of the song. Given their likely strong staging and the fact that they’re second half in the weaker of the two semis I can see this qualifying.
I LOVE THIS.
I just hate that the chorus is blended in with the bridge during the first chorus! That's so irritating!
The final two choruses are so much better.
Loooove.
Ooooh! I have really grown to like this also easily the best video of the year so far
Interview to Christabelle: https://reyournal.com/post/christabelle-the-staging-will-be-a-continuation-of-the-videoclip/ver
I've really not warmed to this. The verses are incredibly poor; the chorus would be good but is never given enough chance to take off. It's lucky it's in the rubbish semi and could still make it through.
