Dexton's Top 40 (06/03/2017) (Week 43)

A quite week (for once) kink.gif Well, in terms of new entries anyway! This week Katchi spends another week at #1 whilst the entire rest of the chart spends its time shuffling about. Climbing to #2 is Imagine Dragons' Next To Me, becoming the bands biggest hit on my chart following Thunder's peak of #3 (both original and K.Flay remix made this peak). Also climbing is Kojo Funds & RAYE's Check (6-3), coming closer & closer to giving RAYE her second #1 on my chart. Will she ever get it? The Top 5 is completed by Marshmello & Anne-Marie's former #1 Friends, and Khalid's Location featuring Jorja Smith & Wretch 32. Taking a huge jump into the Top 10 (and Top 20) is George Ezra's Paradise (23-6), a song which has grown on me immensely this past week. Other climbs into the Top 10 come from Mabel (14-9) and Ed Sheeran (12-10).

Notable climbers outside the Top 10 include The Weeknd & Kendrick Lamar's Pray For Me (22-13), Pink's Secrets (24-16), Noah Kahan & Julia Michaels' Hurt Someboy (26-21), The Wombats' Lemon To A Knife Fight (37-29), and 5 Seconds of Summer's Want You Back (40-35). Pray For Me is both The Weeknd & Kendrick's first Top 20 hit here, and Secrets gives Pink her third consecutive Top 20 hit after What About Us and Beautiful Trauma.

Only two new releases enter the chart this week! At #17 is Blossoms' I Can't Stand It, the lead single of their upcoming second album following their self-titled LP. Blossoms was an album I really got into early last year so I am looking forward to what comes next, an I Can't Stand it is very similar in sound to their debut which is also great wub.gif The second new entry is right at the bottom of the chart, with Sigala & Paloma Faith's Lullaby at #39.

Thanks for reading smile.gif

Secrets would be such a single choice for Pink, shame she seems to be pushing Whatever You Want!
Sigala/Paloma just sneaking in there, surely set for a rise next week? Great video though I'm confused by Paloma's outfit choice!
Great chart altogether!

Hey Dexton!
Great to see "Paradise", "Fine Line" and "Supermarket Flowers" gain to the top 10, do you think that "Supermarket Flowers" or "Happier" would be Ed Sheeran next single choice from Divide, what do you think?
Also good big gains for "On My Mind" and "Mine", surprised by the latter one being really good!
Finally your debuts are both great, especially "Lullaby", which could be in my top 10 next week!
Great chart overall!

I'm not sure why she's going with Whatever You Want, it's a great song but I feel Secrets is the upbeat song needed to follow on from the first two singles tongue.gif

Lullaby almost didn't enter this week tongue.gif It's growing on me slowly, but it's less instant than Sigala's last few singles I think. Say You Do remains a favourite dance.gif

Hey sergej!

I have no idea where Ed is going with his album campaign tbh laugh.gif Supermarket Flowers would logically be the next single since he performed it at the Brits, but he hasn't done much to support it since then. Happier is nice but I think something more lively would be best to come after Perfect. Coming into Spring/Summer (for the UK anyway) would be a nice time to promote something like New Man.

Mine has come out of nowhere hasn't it? laugh.gif I'm really glad it has though, really loving it right now wub.gif Granted I am listening to the clean version more than not tongue.gif

Hey Dexton!

Great to see Imagine Dragons so high already, it's another great song from them, I'm not sure whether to chart it though cos I don't know if it's an official single unsure.gif

Excellent climb for George Ezra, and I'm really pleased he's getting a hit with it officially, I was worried he'd go the way so many others go with their second albums but it's looking more promising for him now smile.gif

New Blossoms is good too, just what you'd expect from them. Really liked the last album so looking forward to the new one!

Great stuff as always biggrin.gif

Hey Mango

Next To Me is really great wub.gif According to Wikipedia Its the fourth single from Evolve tongue.gif

After Don’t Matter Now flopped I thought he was done for laugh.gif I’m glad Paradise is becoming a hit though, I’m really loving it right now :Dance

I Can’t Stand It would fit into their debut album easily laugh.gif Not that that’s a bad thing of course, I love them & their album wub.gif

Hi Pete!

Paradise has grown on me immensely, you could be right there wink.gif tongue.gif

I can’t believe how floppy Blossoms singles have been despite having a #1 album laugh.gif

Lullaby should climb but I’m a bit unsure of it still, I do like it but Sigala has done much better tongue.gif
