The 2014 Children In Need Single is a Various Artists version of the Beach Boys 1966 UK No.2 Hit 'God Only Knows'.

It has a host of big Acts in it, & it is certainly going to be No.1. (It may even reach a UK Million Sale).

However, I don't think it is as good as the Beach Boys original.

Released at midnight tonight ohmy.gif has all the markings of a #1 although it's probably being released too late in the week to contend for this Sunday. It could instead prevent One Direction from getting to Number One the following week, which would be pretty ironic as they feature on it laugh.gif

EDIT: Oops, didn't realise this was already being discussed in the iTunes thread!

Yes indeed... I do think its doable for #1, just have to wait and see what happens later in the week.

...anyone think they kept them all on for an extra three minutes at the end of the session to record a surprise Band Aid 30?

It was disappointing after the mysterious "7.10.14" trailers the BBC have been showing for it to be that. I thought it was going to be something more than just a retread of Perfect Day.

As always, it'd be much better to chuck a couple of quid in the Children in Need bucket and download the Beach Boys original if you don't already have it.

I'd much rather this went to number one than Poo Direction. At least its for a good cause. Not sure how much radio play it will receive. Already top 10 on iTunes.

Never usually have any interest for charity covers. But I quite like this. The video is very good.

They had this playing when programmes finished last night on BBC One, pleasant enough but my god does Brian Wilson sound auto-tuned to the extreme. I don't think it'll be #1; "All About That Bass" has that wrapped up for at least the next 4 weeks.

Brian sounded quadruple tracked to infinity....and a bit out of place on his own song.

I think Brian is multi-tracked rather than autotuned. That's what they used to do in The Olden Days.

I know, but it is multi-tracked to infinity. So much so that it actually sounds like auto-tune!

Perfect Day was excellent, probably more so because the Lou Reed version, although a classic was not exactly firmly in the pop mould. Whereas covering a Beach Boys pop classic, although good it is considerably weaker than their last effort.

Will it get to no.1... God Only Knows! Sorryy couldnt resist.

But CIN 2014 isn't until November, so it's sales may be too spread out before then to top the charts.

So... Ellie Goulding's CIN track was still hanging around in the chart come early Jan/March 2014 laugh.gif
