Would 'Merry Christmas' pay out to "Elton John", or just "Ed Sheeran", or neither? I don't bet on these things but the lack of transparency from the bookies is infuriating. Wham! at 28/1 looks generous, but I think something new will end up taking it.

Are half of these even releasing singles?
Then again I remember the likes of Megan McKenna and Craig Revel Horwood been given odds last year so shouldn't be surprised. |

28/1 does seem foolishly long odds for Wham! (it'll be LadBaby yet again if they release something of course, but that seems less like a given this year)

OK the Tyson Fury threat had passed me by. So he’s doing Sweet Caroline, already one of the most annoying songs around?

Do LadBaby normally tease their Christmas song before they announce it?

Slate and the Pogues shorter odds than Wham! and Mariah? Any reason for that?

Bookies will accept bets on pretty much anything you like. If you wanted to put money on Liz Truss having the Christmas number one, they's happily take it (and then laugh at you). |

Good odds for Wham and Mariah there.
But the Xmas no1 will be announced on Friday 23rd December so that’s sales up to the 22/12 so I imagine the big Xmas classics ‘could’ be no1 the week after that with 3 and a half big selling days the following week. Or maybe the two weeks before Xmas will be slow sales weeks at the time and they hit top spot on the 9/12 or the 16/12? |

LadBaby if they release something, Wham! if not.
Three Lions if (massive if) England win the World Cup (that’s on Sunday 18 December, with the Xmas chart on Friday 23 December) |

I guess Merry Christmas could hold down the top spot for quite a bit of December again given that it only needs to do half the streams of the classics. Will be interesting to see if Wham! eclipse Mariah for most of December again - if it plays out like last year she won’t get a look in.

will Ed/EJ reprint more signed CDs?? Thats the real question
cos I don't think they can do it with streams alone, would HH re-add them? would the Xmas playlists add them? |

I can't see it being Three Lions simply because I don't envisage England progressing as far this time round. They'd need to at least reach the semis for the song to have an impact in tracking week like back in 2018 which I just can't see happening.
Fury is an interesting one, you could argue he's never been as popular as he is now and in fairness if anyone watched his last bout against Whyte his karaoke rendition of American Pie was actually pretty decent. Let's not forget he has pedigree with festive songs too with Bad Sharon a few years back! But I can't see it being anyone else other than Ladbaby, cos sausage rolls is funny amiright. |
