I find her glamorous, especially when you compare her to tarts like Lily Allen. It's like she's sophisticated yet tongue-in-cheek, and it showed in her classy-yet-cheesy music.

I quite a couple of Sophie songs like Murder on the dancefloor, and get over you but Mixed up world really lets her down...

Her vocals can sometimes grate on me but I own her 2 albums and they are great. And surprisngly, I much pefure her second album! She is something of a "female pet shop boy" I think

I loved both albums, the second was less commercial so I can kinda see why it didn't fare aswell.
My favourite Sophie song is 'Take Me Home', which is probably in my top 5 songs ever. |

I love the Bextor. I love the way she is so unique in what she does, she deserves so much more credibility.

Well obviously not, but she's still far from a 'product'.
She was the lead singer of an indie band in the 90's, and she worked damn hard to get her own success after that. |

Actually Sophie writes the melodies as well as lyrics for her songs.
And the only songs I'd say are even remotely cheesy are Murder On The Dancefloor and Take Me Home. Her other material is pop but it's got indie and dance influences in it. Expecially in her 2nd album. Pop music shouldn't be for people who just wanna see silly dances and crappy lyrics, where Sophie comes in & rightly so. She doesn't market herself as a $l*t & does havea lot of input into who she is including the material she writes. |

Murder On The Dance Floor was her best release in my opinion. That video (I think you posted it, I'll watch it at a more reasonable hour as it is nearly quarter past 4 in the morning here in the UK) was so funny.

Maybe I would say 'Music Gets The Best Of Me' is, but again that's similar to 'Murder On The Dancefloor'. Anyone who says she's cheesy clearly doesn't know the first thing about her, as if they heard her albums they would see how diverse and talented she is. And they're probably basing their opinion on 'Murder On The Dancefloor'. |
