The race is always on to find the next big evolution of dance music that will revolutionise the charts, lead to huge amounts of megahits and "THE SOUND OF" compilation albums, until eventually fizzling out with a couple of 80s cover versions and trend-chasing pop cash-ins a couple years down the line. But what genres have we yet to hear? Be as serious or silly as you like, it's just for fun.

Here's a few of mine to start off with:

Arctic house - House music that sounds like you're shivering in snow-covered, northern Scandinavian winters - wind chills, ice cracks, the occasional husky bark etc. First hits big with a track called "Glacier" or "Polar" or "Mush" or something and eventually leads to a huge #1 with an up-to-date remix of East 17's Stay Another Day.

Nu-Trance - An astonishing fusion of Nu Metal and Trance, this features screaming angry rock vocals over pounding electronic beats from the world's top DJs, a headling grabbing Ferry Corsten feat. Limp Bizkit collaboration starting off the genre's mainstream success. In Germany, Scooter grumble they've been doing exactly that for twenty years, and a remixed 'The Logical Song' with the help of Linkin Park is a worldwide top 10.

MDM - Mechanical Dance Music. Similar to EDM except DJs have to program every beat and note inside a physical pianola-like device and crank a massive handle live on stage to make it work - speeding up or slowing down the movement depending on vibes of the crowd, turning a chillout tune into a hardcore banger and vice versa. And exercises your arm muscles and keeps you fit! First hit to make it big is simply titled 'A' which causes some mild controversy and frustrating Youtube searches.

Any more? Quick, it's 2017 soon, you can still get there before the charts do!

Fascinating idea. ohmy.gif

I'd like to see Garage make a return but in a more updated current sound.

I'll call mine GIH (Garage Infused House).

It's a bit of a poor play on words considering a garage and a house are names of buildings lol.

Lounge is another form of genre too and that's called after a room.

Maybe the next "room" name should be Shed music. laugh.gif

Probably my biggest obsession is to make popular tracks with the sound of flushing the toilet. Been thinking of selling this idea to deadmau5 cuz, you know, in this case his status will fit the sound but this suckr continues to write prog house. Yuck.

Oh dude I'm just feeling it!!! This gon' be kind of breakthrough if happens! I really like this idea and probably will try to bring it to life - why not?
Another crazy idea that settled in my head is to "make Fidget House great again" - if you ain't familiar with this genre...well done, the longer the healthier. I mean Fidget House like Crookers did 5-8 years ago when they were duo... for example, their remix of Marina Gasolina by Bonde Do Role or Shrine by Tocadisco. Of course such tracks will never be included in NOW! That's What I Call Music ## cuz it CAN'T be called music, according to the older generation. Anyway, if awful pitched vocals were able to get popular so why can't this one be revived?
Probably some branch of trance music will reborn but not connected with metal, rather with rap thing.

Future Trance - songs with the feel of classic trance songs in the buildups but at a lower BPM and the drop is just some generic vocal pitching future bass thing. Hit singles include:

Nevada & Robert Miles - Children 2017 (feat. Fetty Wap)
Calvin Harris & Armin van Buuren - In A State Of Trance (feat. Ellie Goulding)
Cheat Codes & Ian Van Dahl - Tell Me Why (Castles In The Sky)

I am nearly 100% sure there will be future trance very soon as a genre. I described Jadakissnia's BJSC89 song as future trance, as it sounded like future bass but no real drop and a buildup.

Another genre - progressive trap. I would describe Drunk In Love as being in that it is trap but it all builds up into a big chorus rather than a drop.

Funky or disco trance would be amazing, but does kind of exist - Milk Inc's In My Eyes (original version not DJ Philip version I would say is funky trance). Also towards the end of Mel C's I Turn To You there are some funky violin sounds.

Arctic house sounds amazing.

Rock house would be great. Rock music and house music together. Bodyrockers I Like The Way You Move is an example of the genre.

What about acapella house, house music just consisting of peoples voices for the beat, bassline, music and singing

What about 0bpm EDM, surely it is possible to make a dance track without any beat whatsoever, just synths.

I actually think the fluctuating bpms you proposed for mechanical dance music might actally happen in the future -why should a dance track have the same bpm throughout?

Finally what about trebleline dance music, the bassline has been used too much, what about treble instead.

Trancestep already exists in terms of sound if not name, Endophins by Sub Focus and Alex Clare, it starts off with a trance like beat, buildup and synths, then the dubstep beat begins after..

Seriously Drum and Bass Trance would be a very good idea, both have a fast bpm. Using the beat from drum and bass with the synths and buildups of trance.

And it really shouldn't! I can't remember the name of the track Showtek created with some other guys but in fact it includes 3 diff drops with 3 diff BPMs!

Utah Saints vs Drumsound and Bassline Smith - What Can You Do For Me is a good example of changing bpm in a song

Hip hop and trance music mixed would be interesting. This the closest a hip hop song has got to trance:

'Booyah'

Well, I mean another track (digged it!) called 'Get Loose' - take care of your ears!

Your additions are also good examples (with a lil exception of Booyah cuz this stuff changes in the breakdown, not in the drop).

I believe my top 2 favourite sub-genres are Tropical House and Trance so combining those two could be amazing ohmy.gif

I listened to these songs earlier and I think the first one is progressive house mixed with future house and the second one is tropical/progressive house (Y)

(not saying either are necessarily new just highlighting some good subgenre children tongue.gif )

I also think tropical house/dubstep could be quite good! ohmy.gif

oh my yahoo.gif yahoo.gif Zonderling guys were my passion last year and Cozi Zuehlsdorff made a debut with Vicetone in 2016. So much memories back then heart.gif
and yeah, still can't make up my mind about Crazy For You, is it future house or progressive or what the heck is it. That's the addictive point, I suppose.

My two favourites are funky house and trance, so combining these two to make funky trance would be brilliant.

The next big dance genres will probably be faster form of EDM like Jersey Club in America becoming big and the return of trance in Europe as nostalgia comes back for the genre.

This version of Milk Inc's In My Eyes would be Tropical Trance, it kind of has pan pipe/flute sounds in it.
