Late April / early May can't come QUICK ENOUGH
Just announced on radio station Z100 that Harry's 1st single will be out on the 7th of April.
Ahhhhhhh!!!!
Supposedly it's 'Frank Ocean meets Sting', I mean both of them are a bit crap so fingers crossed the comparison is wildly innacurate What I REALLY want from him is an acoustic, Shawn Mendes-esque pop banger with a huge chorus and some woah-oh-oh's. That'd be awesome.
Won't be any worse than Zayn's stuff but doubt this will topple Niall.
Three blank squares posted on Instagram, he's COMING !!!!!

!!!!!!!! SHOWN DURING THE VOICE APPARENTLY
hopefully via a shower to wash that greasy weave.
^ from Hits Daily Double! Only Adele's Hello and the two Ed singles this year have been teased in adverts like this. Surely lining up to be massive already?
Also, Sony Music's "fiscal year" seems to end in March, meaning the first quarter is April/May/June! The album is so close
I hear this is already playlisted by Capital, on their very top playlist too
Plus, new promo shot from his Facebook page:
Harry will be on Saturday Night Live with Jimmy Fallon on 15th April
I have a feeling that he is going to blow up, BIG time. Like, honestly up there with Ed/Sam Smith/Calvin Harris in terms of British male artists! I think his album will be huge, too!
Excited to hear what he comes up with. In all honesty, I doubt I'd personally like it as much, but I'm happy to be proven wrong and the piano melody used in the trailer is gorgeous!
The video to this has been filmed and will be released alongside the song on the 7th April!
Title seems to be Sign of the Times going by his social media, and this could possibly be the artwork:
Artwork is wonderful.
ADORE the artwork.
Nice touch announcing it on the 30th anniversary of the Prince album
Seems to be premiering at 10am in Adelaide, Australia (I'd seen 10am branded about but not what timezone ). These are the premiere times globally, thanks to @BestDailyHarry on Twitter:
( at "sing" )
Great single title and cover (if that is the cover). Harry was always going to blow up as a solo artist. He's always been the JT/Robbie of 1D.
Love the cover and the Prince reference <3
Looks like he'll get a full week of sales then, 6 days and 22.5 hours worth to be exact which is good. I was worried itd be released Friday night in the UK.
At least they are releasing it at the right time by giving it the full week. I look forward to hearing this, i must say they have surprised me so far with their solo offerings I like Niall and Louis's offerings so far.
Harry will be on Radio 1's breakfast show on Friday morning from 8am
EDIT: from when Harry recorded the interview with Nick Grimshaw that will be broadcast on Friday:
Harry will be on the Saturday Breakfast Show this Saturday 8-10am (UK time), on BBC Radio 2.
'Sign of The Times' will be played for the first time at 8AM GMT on BBC Radio 1.
Apparently there's only one copy of the song in the world right now and it's on an iPod that people are given to hear it
It's on Capital's A list from Friday, although the lettering works differently so this is the third-from-top playlist, not the top playlist as originally expected. I assume they're a bit cautious because the description doesn't sound very Capital friendly :') and going by the above, it's possibly they've not even heard it yet!
Clips of the music video being filmed! https://twitter.com/TheHarrySource/status/849334585515270144
Seems like the previous timings were wrong, the Columbia Records Twitter has confirmed it premieres at 8am on Radio 1
EDIT: full premiere times:
A-listed on Radio 2! Let's hope Radio 1 follow suit
The first review is IN, courtesy of The Sun...
Actually nit that bad.
Best of the solo 1D releases so far.
PLAYING ON RADIO 1 RIGHT NOW !!!!!
I think I'm a bit of a MESS right now, never been quite this exhilarated over a song premiere, but wow that was incredible I had slight doubts in my mind and they were totally unnecessary in the end, his voice is incredible on any song and it's really well written too. Totally different to anything else in the charts but not alienating, to stop it being a hit.
Yeah, this really is pretty fantastic. I can definitely understand the Bowie comparison/inspiration. With all the hype on his side, he's surely gonna be the biggest solo success of 1D
I really like it! The rock power ballad vibe really works for him. I wasn't too sure on the slightly distorted vocals during the falsetto at first, it didn't seem to fit right and took away from the impact of just hearing his natural voice over a piano, but I grew to like it towards the end. Definitely going to be a bit hit, although I suspect radio will want a ~3:30 edit.
Straight onto the Radio 1 a-list and is top of the New Music Friday playlist on Spotify! Also added to Hot Hits UK on Spotify too, ie. the playlist with the biggest chart impact
Em, it just kind of plod's along for the first minute and a half. They definitely could have cut 2 minutes off of it, even 3.
I like it, though it's long, there's some standout moments and I applaud him for having such an unexpected debut.
For me it's a bit like Stereophonics have covered a long lost Queen or Bowie track.
It's very instant and a brave debut though and I like it on first listen. I applaud him for not following the crowd too.
It's absolutely fantastic. So much better than I thought it would be. It's really well produced and has that classic and euphoric sound to it! Very impressed.
#1 on iTunes
Sounds a bit like Oasis. Interesting direction to go down. I wonder will there be a radio edit...
This is actually pretty fab. Was expecting something more upbeat though.
His voice reminds me of Kelly Jones.
More of an Aaron Taylor Johnson rather than a Sebastian Stan.
(long hair just for joseph xx)
This is utterly spellbindingly brilliant.
I can see it absolutely smashing and being one of the defining songs of the 10's. It just has that 'modern classic' feel about it right off the bat.
Perfectly executed.
I really like it too, certainly a very left-field sound.
He was always going to be the biggest out of all the 1D boys, he was the one the media loved the most. He's come up with a massive tune.
This is VERY Bowie. Oops at me loving it! Considering they were awful as a group, ZAYN and now Harry have really brought it with their solo material. I can see this being huge, like Davidson said it's got that feel about it.
Yeh, this is actually fantastic and completely unexpected! I thought he was going to be the full on pop star out of the five! Its great to see him using his star name to push for a different sound and, however unlikely, I hope it inspires radio/labels to push more music like this.
It's amazing but needs a radio edit.
On first listen this is absolutely awful. Drags on for far too long and has absolutely nothing appealing about it. Fingers crossed it somehow grows.
Tbh Louis >>>> ZAYN >>> Niall >> Harry so far.
Harry >>>> Louis >>> Niall > Zayn although all have had strong debuts. Zayn tailed off after PILLOWTALK for me though.
Niall > Harry >>>>>>>>>>>> *Chasm* >>>> the others.
It has that classic sound, yet it's totally modern. A very bold and brave debut!
Jesus christ that last minute or so is incred. It's a tad too long but for how much I was expecting to hate this I'm impressed that I really like this
It's not something I can imagine myself going back to a lot but that's pretty much my only criticism of it. I thought this was going to have a "trying too hard to sound epic" feel to it but it really just is and he's done exactly what he set out to achieve. It does feel very classic already, his vocals sound the best they ever had and it feels natural to Harry aswell. Very impressed!
I love really David Bowie this sounds I did not expect myself as much as I did on first listen
So this is...really good? I hear Oasis a bit more than I do David Bowie, but anything with those influences becoming a hit these days is something very special indeed. I'm just so relieved it's not some Ed Sheeran knock off or Tropical house shite.
I doubt this would do anything if it was some unknown artist, so I hope that his name being behind it pushes this sound into the mainstream a bit more and y'know, just encourage artists to take a few more risks with their sounds rather than following what's on trend.
Harry always had the best voice in 1D for me so I was always going to be most excited for his solo project out of all of them. But I wasn't quite expecting it to be this good I definitely get the David Bowie comparisons which is certainly a brilliant thing. The duration is no issue for me as it builds marvellously, it's amazing when the chorus 'arrives' for the first time at around the 1:20 mark. Then the final minute or so is just the perfect finish - his voice sounds great and hits hard. I am so here for this being the next #1!
During the first minute I was thinking "oh GOD I'm going to hate this" but I was pretty impressed with the chorus. It's definitely a bold choice for a lead single as this sounds like something MCR (RIP ) would have gone for in the late stages of their eras, just without any guitars. It has room to grow but at the same time has room to get really annoying really fast.
I'm just so split on this.
The first minute and a half kinda plods along but Jesus Christ that chorus *.* Contrary to most I've loved most of Zayn's material (minus the track names ) but on this song I can see Harry's being even better
iTunes #1 in every territory except for The Bahamas, Japan, Taiwan and the Cayman Islands *.*
okay well this is AMAZING
I can see myself enjoying this in small, infrequent doses. A solid debut nevertheless!
This actually gives me major 'Purple Rain' vibes. So stunning!
One of my favourite songs of the year so far already! SO beautiful!
Picking something new that I adore with each and every listen.
So wonderfully euphoric!
This is utterly stunning. <3
Was hyped from when I saw that Bowie/Lana comparison review and it really has exceeded all expectations, hope this can be massive!
Good song. Too long though and without a radio edit, it could struggle in the long run.
In terms of debut singles only:
1. ZAYN - PILLOWTALK
2. Louis - Just Hold On
3. Harry - Sign of the Times
4. Niall - This Town
Can't see Niall or Louis being big. ZAYN will do the best.
This just came on 4music, and it just showed that image of him sat down :')
For all you saying its too long though, you're wrong. They played a shorter edit, basically cutting out the middle bit and it really butchers it. It ruins the build up and makes that final minute less special.
I do quite like and think it's a great choice for a bolder lead single but selfishly, I'd rather have something a bit more uptempo and shorter from him. His voice sounds fantastic on it so I'm hyped for the album but I've only listened to it three times and I'm already a bit bored of it. It does seem to drag a little for me although at least it's more exciting than 'This Town'
#1 in the midweek update today, on around 30k, while #2 is on 15k! A couple of streaming days seem to be missing but that won't close the gap too much. Seems a lock-on for #1 on Friday
I never thought I'd be saying something GOOD about Harry Styles In fact, all of the singles so far (bar Zayn) have been a little 'out-there' and less non-mainstream pop. As long as they don't get back together, I'll be fine
Congratulations Joseph Styles
This is your time
Song is very good although it is not David Bowie/Queen but rather Bruno Mars/ Robbie Williams combination (Angels + When I was your man)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ekzHIouo8Q4
Still a great piece of music
a pot of piss quite frankly
Harry's currently set to sell just upwards of 60k this week, not bad for a song that isn't particularly commercial and is unlike anything else in the top 40 right now. Will be a fairly comfortable #1
This is stunning, really grown on me I will actually die if SOY is #1 again omg.
Officially the UK's #1 single!!
Well deserved! Interested to see how it holds up, I was expecting it to fall to #5 or something next week but the fact it's still #1 on iTunes gives hope it'll have a good retention!
Stereophonics doing an Embrace ballad but not nearly as bad as that sounds. This is great.
This sounds like a mix of Bowie, Oasis & John Lennon (Imagine in places) to me. All of which are a very good thing. I'm enjoying this a lot and he's also the one from 1D I definitely liked vocals of most so it's safe to say this has absolutely set him up for a big career. I sort of wondered if he'd go against the trend actually as his voice is too good to be shoved on some tropical sounding track tbh.
Very impressed all the same!
There's such a timeless feel to this song. It's just not getting old for me, despite me hearing it so much and so often on my own accord. This is going to be a firm fave of mine by the end of the year I think.
I feel like Liam's heading more in the direction that my tastes suit, but Harry has set the bar ridiculously high, that I'm not sure he's gonna be able to match it for me. We shall see though!
I guess it's not any kind of surprise that I'm still all over this it's stunning and just takes my mind away somewhere else every single time I listen. Easily my favourite song of 2017 so far and has set a high benchmark for anything else to come!
An impressive performance of the song on Graham Norton last night...
My first post in this forum
Welcome to the 1D forum Suedehead glad you enjoyed it, I thought it was a great performance and he came across really well in the interview too!
So then... I've just heard this and I am so impressed!
It's really rather good and incredibly timeless, I couldn't have guessed when it would have been recorded at all.
I really like this now, it has grown on me alot in the last week. Im surprised by how much i like the debut singles from Harry, Niall and Louis, its rare i like so many debut solo singles from the same band, Zayns was ok but not my style of music.
Music video out Monday!!
^ moved to the correct topic
Not the most exciting video EVER but it's visually fantastic and well suited to the track
Some epic shots and it feels quite Bowie with him floating through the air and running on the water. Not much going on, no, but fits the song beautifully. I like it a lot.
Harry's style of debut single in slight ways reminds me of the sound Mark Owen was aiming for with his first solo single Child. At the time, the style of "Child" was not what was expected by his fans or Take That fans at the time but was received well critically. That said, i am confident Harry will have a much bigger solo career than Mark.
