It's been 10 years since Buzzjack first opened and to celebrate I will be counting down my 10 favourite dance hits from each year. The criteria, the songs must strictly be in the dance genre (no Madonna/Black Eyed Peas/etc. dance-pop crossovers here, with the exception of when a dance producer is credited (e.g. 'Club Can't Handle Me' / 'We Found Love'), and they must have been UK top 10 hits.
I'll be starting from 2006 and going right up to 2015. Let's DANce

A fairly low number of dance songs being hits this year means that I'll be reviewing exactly half of the songs eligible for this year's countdown. Yep, there were only 20 dance top 10s. I haven't counted yet but I imagine there'll be more in future years. Firstly here are the songs that just miss the cut: 11 Chicane Stoned in Love [feat. Tom Jones] 12 Bob Sinclar & Cutee B Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now) [feat. Dollarman, Big Ali & Makedah] 13 Paul Oakenfold Faster Kill Pussycat [feat. Brittany Murphy] 14 Booty Luv Boogie 2nite 15 Bob Sinclar World, Hold On (Children of the Sky) [feat. Steve Edwards] 16 Beatfreakz Superfreak 17 The Source You Got the Love [New Voyager Radio Edit] [feat. Candi Staton] 18 Cascada Truly Madly Deeply 19 Micky Modelle vs. Jessy Dancing in the Dark 20 Sunblock First Time [feat. Robin Beck] Both of Bob Sinclar's efforts are sadly out. We also see the first appearances of Sunblock, Cascada and Beatfreakz who also have songs in the top 10. |

10 Sharam PATT (Party All The Time)
36-{8}-8-9-15-21-16-26-36-45-59->11 Back in 2006 making dance songs consisting of 80s samples would be a common theme, and this is the first of four in the top 10 which are sample-based in this way - and that doesn't include another song which is a 70s remake. At the tail end of the year this would peak at #8 and have a fairly decent chart run. Unsurprisingly Sharam would never been seen in the chart again, and this was his only hit under this name. He did have a few hits as part of the duo Deep Dish prior to this, most notably 2004's 'Flashdance' which went to #3 and remains a serious tune to this day. The song does a good job of what it's meant to do but ultimately others did the formula better. |

09 Meck Thunder In My Heart Again [feat. Leo Sayer]
{1}-1-3-6-8-10-12-25-23-22-23-31-37-50-53-60->16 Not much is known about producer Meck, other than that he was formerly the head of free2air recordings and now runs Frenetic Music. There is considerably more to say about Leo Sayer though, having already had 10 UK top 10s - although he wasn't exactly at his commercial peak in the 00s, so another big hit from him was surprising to see [well, not for me, having been unaware of his existence before this song]. It was a re-working of his #22 1977 hit 'Thunder In My Heart', with Meck aptly re-titling it to add 'Again', though that word does not appear in the song. Sayer would never see the UK chart again and Meck would prove to be a one-hit wonder, following the song up a year later with 'Feels Like Home' flopping in at #39. As a dance song there's not much exciting production values to it, but it works very well as a dance-pop throwback and is quite nice to listen to. |

not overly keen on the latter of your two so far, but PATT is a really good track - wish there were more songs like it around these days
 . Truly Madly Deeply is a tune also, some other pretty decent ones in your 11-20 too I recognise vaguely from previous YouTube voyages  Excited to see what other music you have left to reveal  and the more recent countdowns, looking forward to your 2013 one especially, such a good year for dance music even if there was a lack of house hits in parts.

Dancing In The Dark is in my top 10 songs of all time
 Sharam's track is a lost gem! Still listen to that a fair amount now. Meck's is great too. 2006 was pretty awful for dance but the few hits there were are very strong. Yeah Yeah to win

08 Infernal From Paris to Berlin
34-4-3-4-3-{2}-3-4-6-6-7-9-15-19-24-27-27-36-45-55-61-72-73->23 Denmark isn't a place that breeds a lot of big hitmakers, but they do come up every now and then. 2016 has Lukas Graham, 1994 had Whigfield, and in 2006 Danish duo Infernal had a very large hit - the 6th biggest selling of the year in the UK. As always though the UK were late to latch on to an international dance hit. The song had originally been released in 2005, and I remember hearing it on the radio and TV around the time I moved to Australia, August/September 2005. It does very much fit in with the dance sound of the time however, and it being a huge hit is unsurprising. The song itself is very good too, although as implied earlier very of its time. Good for a nostalgic pick every now and then though, but only enough for it to land at #8 in this list. |

07 Hi_Tack Say Say Say (Waiting 4 U)
8-{4}-6-9-11-12-18-23-30-42-54-44-52-59-56-68->16 And now we're back to the sample-heavy dance. This time from Michael Jackson [not the last of his influence in this year's countdown too!] from his song 'Say Say Say', a collaboration with Paul McCartney [however his input is not heard on this reworking]. Hi_Tack are a Dutch group previously known as Klubbheads, who had a top 10 hit in the 90s in 'Klubbhopping'. Their full list of alias names can be found on their wikipedia page and it is quite a long list. Following 'Say Say Say' the group would only have a further minor top 40 hit, a re-working of David Bowie's 'Let's Dance'. The song has a standard house beat and couldn't possibly be more formulaic, but I enjoyed it muchly at the time and it's a nice listen. Cool summer vibes on this.
