Posted by: lewistgreen Jul 2 2017, 12:06 PM

On Friday, JAY-Z (yes, the hyphen is back) released his 13th studio album.

1. Kill Jay Z
2. The Story Of O.J.
3. Smile (feat. Gloria Carter)
4. Caught Their Eyes (feat. Frank Ocean)
5. 4:44
6. Family Feud (feat. Beyoncé)
7. Bam (feat. Damian Marley)
8. Moonlight
9. Marcy Me
10. Legacy

Physical Edition
11. Adnis
12. Blue's Freestyle / We Family (feat. Blue Ivy Carter)
14. MaNyafaCedGod (feat. James Blake)

For now it is a Tidal and Sprint exclusive, but a physical release has been confirmed. Over the weekend, the album has received critical acclaim.

Has anyone listened to it yet?

"leave me alone Becky" ;o

I really like this album! The use of sample is so good and there's a real old school feeling about a lot of the tracks. Like Beyonce did with Lemonade, this feels a lot more personal than previous material from him. I like the reggae vibes on some of the songs as well music.gif

Best tracks for me are 4:44, Family Feud and Bam. That run of three is just YES!!!!!

The full album was simulcast on Radio 1 and 1Xtra yesterday morning. You can listen back to the show http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b08wm70x.

Didn't have high hopes for this, but it's surprisingly decent! Caught Their Eyes and Bam in particular. wub.gif

It's quite good. I like how self-aware the lyrics are, as a contrast to Jay having seemed out of touch on recent material. His best release in quite some time.

Yeah, I'm not normally a Jay Z fan really at all but this album really is great. It reminds me of a Kanye album so much in parts with all the samples, and obviously I'm so not mad at that.

Bam, Story of OJ and Family Feud are my trinity at the moment, but really there isn't a weak link.

Playlisted by Radio 1 and 1Xtra this week.

Great to see, that's my favourite from the album!

Is every track getting a video? There's one out there Adnis too but it's only on Tidal for now

There are some tracks on here that're GREAT, and some are woeful. 4.44 is my favourite.

I really like all 3 songs I've heard from this ('Bam' is my fave as well, but also liking the title track and 'The Story Of O.J.')! Must be his best work for quite some time.

No wonder 4:44 is the title track of the album. It's the coolest!

Were hosting a Beyoncé vs Jay / Lemonade VS 4:44 rate in he Bey forum if anyone is interested! biggrin.gif

I appreciate you might want to hold his own rate in this forum but thought it might be interesting to rate them off as lyrical responses to one another! smile.gif

So
Is that the next single? Seems to have lost total momentum since the release!
