The jams that took these pop icons from teens to slutty adults! Which is your fave?

Dirrty

Posted by: toxic_air 7th March 2015, 12:03 AM

What's the best performance of Dirrty for comparison?

SLAVE 4 U VMA

DIRRTY EMAS

Posted by: toxic_air 7th March 2015, 12:05 AM

Definitely the most difficult round for me, tbh.

Dirrty is my favorite Xtina track ohmy.gif

Posted by: ♡ Heezus Froot ♡ 7th March 2015, 12:08 AM

I love Dirrty, it's the song that made me an Xtincta fan, but let's be fair: Slave is Slave. No contest there.

Posted by: Nick F1 7th March 2015, 12:13 AM

Dirrty is decent but Slave is Slave as Heezus Froot said.

Posted by: JosephStyles 7th March 2015, 12:24 AM

Dirrty for me oops, Slave isn't one of my fave Britney tracks sad.gif

Posted by: London81 7th March 2015, 12:30 AM

Slave is one of my favourite tracks. At least it was at the time it was released. I kinda played it to death at uni. She's smoking hot in that video and the beat is dirty.

Posted by: toxic_air 7th March 2015, 01:44 AM

At the time 'Slave' was maybe a good 8/10 for me, but it has only continued to get better with age. A solid 11/10 for me now and in my top ten tracks of all time.

Dirrty is an exceptional track and Xtina at her best.

So with STAN shades off Dirrty would have won at the time, but now now. Sorry Chrissy </3

"Slave" was more instant but "Dirrty" had more longevity, so I'm torn.

I guess "Slave" for the snake alone.

I listened to 'Dirrty' on a retro marathon today and I couldn't believe how much I disliked it ohmy.gif I appreciate it being iconic for Xtine and being very risky but give me 'Fighter' any day, I find her voice just way too difficult to listen to on 'Dirrty'.

'Slave' however is perfect biggrin.gif It's really a pity that Urbaney was only really a big presence on two albums. It wouldn't really suit her anymore and I'm very happy Blackout/Circus/Femme Fatale happened but if you look at her album discog:

Album 1 + 2 = Bubblegum
Album 3 = Bubblegum/Urban
Album 4 = Urban/Electronic
Album 5+ = Electropop/Dance

Brit's first 6 albums took her in a lot of different directions, even FF did to some degree with being the first pure dance Brit album, but BJ didn't really (slightly more bubblegum I guess on tracks like 'Perfume'?) and I'm not sure the new album will. I really hope she experiments a bit with her next releases because as much as she does dance brilliantly, I'd like to see her try her hand at more stuff because the occasional "Britney does X genre" songs are among her best imo. That said, not sure what genre she could visit next tongue.gif Folktronica?

This is exactly how I feel. I definitely preferred 'Dirrty' at the time of release, but over the years 'Slave' has risen to become one of the very best Britney tracks for me. It's aged a lot better than I ever anticipated on it doing so. I still like 'Dirrty' a lot though, but in comparison to 'Slave', I have to go for R Brit again!

Britney really was the best at TRANSITIONING her career, let's be honest, no one has gone from teen sensation to adult pop star as well as she has. With each album she has fed us something new along with something to get fans of her previous sound on board. She and her team have been genius at cherry picking tracks to ease old fans into new material. See 'Slave' with 'Overprotected', 'MATM' with 'Toxic', etc. Even with 'Blackout', 'Circus' brought back a lot of her old fans back on board with not only her image but also her music. I'd really think she'd be wise to make the single off her next album hit the urban route (yes already with Iggy) and then feed back into a more classic pop track.

Dirrty for me

Dirrty for me, sorry fellow Brit fans! sad.gif

Posted by: _Nīck_ 7th March 2015, 02:01 PM

This is a close one both good videos and real moments of the early 00's but Slave just sounds timeless ♥️

Posted by: London81 7th March 2015, 03:40 PM

I just watched the performance again at vmas. I always forget just how amazingly she could dance.
Wowzers.

Posted by: Liаm 7th March 2015, 03:51 PM

Dirrty but they're both brilliant!

Honesty is always the best policy, my friend!

Voted Dirrty, although both songs are fantastic and are true turning points in their careers.

Dirrty more or less made Christina an icon here in the UK, shame it flopped so badly in the USA. But honestly I think that this is point where people really started taking notice of her, always remember those bottomless chaps.

"I'm A Slave 4 U", again marked another major change in Britney style and sound, shame it doesn't seem so remembered now, but to Britney fans like me, this will hold a special place in my heart. just love it.

Posted by: mr_aly 9th March 2015, 02:43 PM

'Dirrty', but I don't consider either of these tracks to be among their best.

Posted by: toxic_air 9th March 2015, 05:37 PM

CHRISSY WITH THE ONE POUNT LEAD.

Posted by: Lee_J11 9th March 2015, 05:43 PM

Going to have to go for Dirrty I think. Have never really been Slave's biggest fan and Dirrty is still a club anthem.

Posted by: Nick F1 9th March 2015, 10:15 PM

shocked to see Dirty in lead, Slave video itself slays whole Xtinas videography tbh

Posted by: Cremey 9th March 2015, 10:24 PM

Dirrty is my favourite Christina track by far but it still doesn't come anywhere close to Slave, which is my favourite Britney track.
Everything about it is just perfect.

Posted by: Lukuzz 9th March 2015, 10:59 PM

Dirrty wins this one

Posted by: Acoustic 9th March 2015, 11:04 PM

Slave is my favourite.
Dirrty was very successful over here. I remember watching her on Top of the Pops in those damn chaps...

Oh yeah I remember that haha!

This is no competition for me, sorry Britney. "Dirrty" is one of my favourite Xtine songs and I've never really liked "I'm a Slave 4 U" 😶 I can't deny the iconic VMA performance but that's the only thing that tops it - the video for "Dirrty" was my childhood!

Posted by: Regina 10th March 2015, 01:12 PM

Dirrty >>>>>

Posted by: Beaverhousen 10th March 2015, 08:11 PM

Slave 4 U destroys Dirrrty and came first.

Dirrrty is a pastiche of Slave 4 U. Christina was still chasin Britney impakt pre-post ITZ days.
