Apparently Simon is the only judge returning I wouldn’t think that would be true as surely Louis at least would stay (although I thought that before 2015). Cheryl in. Lmao if that part is true, her return in 2014 did nothing to boost ratings and why would it this year
What I miss is the EXCITMENT that used to come from X Factor. Obviously they’ll never get back up to the levels of 2009-11 but last year with no sing off and the eliminations straight after the performances felt so dry and boring.
I really hope it’s true so that Nicole can move away from it. They’re reporting she’s been fired but with rumours of PCD reforming, she’s probably too busy to do X Factor anyway. I think it should have a year away to make people miss it. For me, Strictly is the one to watch in the run up to Christmas - X Factor has lost it’s.. X Factor?
I always find it odd when it comes to Nicole leaving they always word it that she got fired. When the judges only sign on for a series at a time.
It’s always just to sensationalise it, plus it’s Dan Wootton so there may not be anything true at all.
The way they’ll spin it is Nicole out - Cheryl in but there were whispers late last year about PCD reforming so she probably had no intention of returning this year.

According to The Sun (I know), the judges in the running are: Craig David, Louis Tomlinson, Cheryl and Kylie Minogue.
Louis Tomlinson... Really?
Craig David is quite inspired!
I would be here for a Simon, Craig David, Cheryl and Kylie panel
I’m not convinced any set of judges will rejuvenate the ratings. They’ll stick around the 4-5 million mark no matter what happens.
http://www.digitalspy.com/tv/the-x-factor/news/a855869/the-x-factor-bringing-back-arena-auditions-2018-series/
Room auditions axed. I'm not that bothered tbh, I was so excited for the room auditions to come back in 2013 but they still had a backing track so it didn't have the same feel at all of the old room auditions
Yeah I'm not that fussed at that actually! I much prefer room auditions if we take them in the old sense, but with the backing tracks it just kinda feels like a suppressed arena audition with a weird muted atmosphere, so they might as well just go back to the whole hog.
https://www.independent.ie/entertainment/music/im-ready-to-leave-louis-walsh-quits-x-factor-after-13-years-36987701.html
Louis has quit, and Sharon will only appear in the live shows. Nicole is also being replaced.
So, only Simon will remain with three new judges.
I doubt Louis quit he was pushed. In all his recent interviews when asked about the X Factor he kept saying he has a contract.
The London auditions begin filming on 18 July, so hopefully we find out who the new judges are soon.
It appears Louis has began his new job at the NHS:
Louis will be back next year when it all goes tits up again...
I think it's worth putting a bet on Tulisa - her press coverage has noticeably increased in the last month which historically is a sign...
I'll be surprised if it's Cheryl as she's signed up for The Greatest Dancer on the BBC (also produced by Simon Cowell)
Sharon only joining in the live shows might mean she's like Mel B in the last Australian X Factor series, she got to pick one from each of the other 3 categories who missed out on the live shows (they had under 25s, over 25s and groups) as a sort of "wildcard" judge. That'd be a good twist although merging the boys and girls who are the two most competitive categories usually could be a bloodbath
Apparently Ricky Martin, Mel B and Robbie Williams are all in line! I could see any of them being true, Mel is fab on AGT (and was fab on both UK and Aus X Factor) and seems to get on well with Simon, Ricky has worked with Simon for La Banda in America and he was a judge on The Voice in Australia so has experience, and Robbie always seems to be rumoured I'd love Mel and Ricky but Robbie can stay away tbh.
If there's all those 3 then my Sharon as wildcard theory may be wrong lmao and perhaps she's just an impartial 5th judge to keep it out of deadlock (surely they'll go back to that format after last year was a bit muted without it) or something? She never seemed to really bother with or care about mentoring so it's not like it'd be a huge loss if she was just an extra impartial judge.
As if this is back on in 2 months :’)
There seems to be very little hype, I really think its ratings are only going to sink lower. It's going to have to do a lot to improve again for me.
I think the show just needs to maintain some consistency. Get a current, modern judging panel and stick with them for a couple of years at the very least. Encourage contestants to write and perform original material again, as that really felt refreshing last year, but otherwise keep the format to the traditional 12 acts (and maybe wildcards) with one leaving a week. Keep bootcamp, six chairs and judges' houses as short as possible as they're the more tedious parts of the competition. And don't muck the format around the following year! All Simon has to do is look at BGT and how stable that has been over the years. It's still getting impressive ratings. Speaks volumes!
they really need to cut down on the auditions/bootcamp, that really dragged last year.
and please no flash votes or prize fights.
Exactly, they fiddle around with it so much (the shortened format in 2015 for example and then whatever on earth last year was) that they lose the heart of the show. Last year was the worst yet, a decent bunch of acts really but the prize fights were horrendously dull, especially when we'd seen who went at that point and then at the end they tried to make the prize fights a thing :') They don't need all these stupid twists and stunts and showy bits, one of the best things about X Factor was that you'd settle down to watch the results on a Sunday and it'd be a huge event, the sing-off would be really tense and then it'd go to deadlock and there'd be a shock and it'd be all the nation talked about the next day.
I'm sure cheryl will be returning - I think her and Louis hate each other so another reason why he was fired, I mean left......
Kylie would be fantastic
Louis Tomlinson Zzzzzzzz.
I'm probably going to do the same as I did last year and skip the auditions - you see enough clips of them throughout the rest of it anyway
I think they should just end it and try a new show that attracts viewers. This is never going to do well again, and with good reason, it's trash now!
The thing is, when ITV axed Dancing On Ice, it was underperforming by its own standards. They soon realised though that it was still getting relatively good ratings as nothing else lived up to it to fill the Sunday prime-time slot at the start of the year, hence why they've just brought it back. X Factor would likely be the same - unless they have a surefire smash hit replacement show for winter weekend prime-time, there's no point cancelling X Factor which still does decently, if nowhere near as well as it used to.
I hope this continues. It is pretty trashy but I still get some enjoyment out of it.
I do honestly think if they cancel X Factor and wait a year or so and have a new show with a new exciting format, it could do well. I think that is their best bet at this point.
Y'all know it is TOTALLY fake too, right?
The producers choose the acts. They know who is going through to the lives from the FIRST AUDITIONS. The acts get EMAILS from the producers telling them if they're through or not. They'll be in communication with them about the lives. All those tears when Nicole says sorry love, you're going home? For the camera. They already know. Rylan falling off the sofa? For the camera. Then at the lives, they clearly sabotage people, especially the ones they don't like - Talia - with song choices, themes, costumes, chosen by the producers. The judges are just there to be famous faces. They spend about 5 minutes a week with an act for the cameras to see them giving some dodgy advice. The only one who actually spent time with his acts was Nick Grimshaw I hear. Sharon even spent the week in America! Simon did that one year too and Cheryl was going to do the same.
Looks like Robbie Williams and his wife have signed up........ Thrilling
Why Robbie's wife, this does no bode well at all for the show.
Like i have said in previous posts, if they concentrated as much on the winners as they do on the judging panel the show may perform better than it is.
There is little difference now in X Factor winners and The Voice winners.
can they really not find people more famous than Robbie Williams's wife??
Robbie himself is a good get but why did they sign up Ayda too? she isn't even a singer or someone who works with singers like Simon/Louis. * wonder if Robbie would only do it if he could bring her along.
(* I guess that never stopped Sharon Osbourne, but still
edit: she actually did manage singers, just read on Wiki)
She is on Loose Women tbf of her own accord (well, still for being Robbie's wife) as well as US comedy roles, but she's not *only* famous for being his wife. Not that has anything to do with music, and even in the case of Nick Grimshaw he was at least a radio DJ which is at least to do with music.
I wonder if they'll be "one" judge and have a category like say the Madden twins on The Voice AU (although again, both are from music so that was fine), surely they can't give a TV personality a category to mentor when she has nothing to do with music? Sharon who had experience managing acts was a disaster lmao.
Why the X Factor producers seem to have lost the selling point of the show seriously baffles me.
The whole point is the journey. We meet someone ordinary and see them evolve into a popstar with a makeover to then go through the live shows. It's like Stars in their Eyes but dragged out.
Making the audition process needlessly long and adding more and more middling stages between seeing the ordinary person and seeing the makeover and then the interactive gameshow bit of it starting is what makes people start to switch off. Likewise making the interactive live shows part shorter. If any of it, that's the bit you want to keep!
I never agreed with reducing the amount of Live shows as they are the highlights of the series. I felt it was a crazy decision.
I am praying that the Robbie and his wife rumour is incorrect, that would be diabolical
I think that's part of what makes it hard for me to connect with The Voice, they have less live shows and thus less viewer involvement, it really does end up feeling a bit like Stars In Their Eyes I think that's fine for The Voice which has a different vibe, but it doesn't help the lack of success afterwards because it feels like glorified pub karaoke on a Saturday night with a winner, and like it's ok to watch if nothing is on and you're in bored. X Factor used to be so unmissable and such an event but it's turning into the same now. You don't see a star emerging, you see someone singing a few songs for a few weeks and then they win and not a lot happens.
I just had Loose Women on (wild Monday, I know) and Ruth was heavily hinting at Ayda being a judge while they were interviewing Tulisa. So I wouldn't be surprised if this is true, although it's like Gavin Rossdale levels of scraping the barrel and she isn't even involved with music like he is :')
X Factor is dropping all pretence it seems.
Remember, they don't ACTUALLY mentor the acts. They spend five minutes with then for the cameras. The producers even pick the acts AND promise scouted acts a place in the lives BEFORE the auditions. It is all fake.
https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/simon-cowell-gives-robbie-williams-12874188
Robbie and his wife Ayda Field have been confirmed..
That's even worse than Nick f'n Grimshaw. Good lord, what is Simon thinking?!
Jesus christ, I can't
A married couple judging together on the X Factor. What could go wrong?
This may well be the first Series ever I don't watch/keep up with.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/6794796/one-direction-star-louis-tomlinson-robbie-williams-wife-ayda-field-and-simon-cowell-sign-up-as-new-x-factor-panel/
Officially confirmed - Simon, Robbie, Ayda, Louis Tomlinson
Worst panel in the history of the show..
"But bosses are optimistic the line-up will lead to a hugely successful year for the show, with insiders saying Robbie has been high on Simon's wish-list for many years.
A source said: "He's an absolute dream signing. People have wanted him on one of these shows for a decade, it's an amazing hire.""
hahaha. they'll be lucky to scrape 4 million a week with this panel.
Good god, not sure I can be arsed with this series either with a line-up like that... Robbie I suppose I get, he is a huge name, fairly big personality, even if I don't personally like him much. But his wife is honestly the biggest barrel scrape I can think of in reality TV history, and Louis is the one that least people care about in 1D surely? Ayda might be really fun and great (haven't thought much of her from what I've seen), but as a name to draw people in nobody is going to bother.
possibly the most talentless line-up ever? (Robbie legit having 85% of the talent)
LOL I can't get over how dire that line-up is. I mean Simon and Robbie, cool. But Ayda is such a ridiculous signing as her name isn't one that will draw people in and she has absolutely no connections to the music business. Then they legit chose the worst singer from 1D.
I mean Cheryl was never the best vocalist in GA but it's just too much to have the combination of someone like that and an actress giving out advice At least Sharon, also the wife of a singer, was a manager in the music industry.
That is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. I'd assume it was a parody of these kind of shows but...it's real. I mean I know it's not at it's previous heights, but Christ, I cannot believe there was a person that actually said 'yes this is the judges line up we need to make our show better!'
They were definitely desperate to get Robbie then! He must have only said he would accept if they got Ayda a role. Who knows, Ayda might be entertaining but... that’s the problem - who does know?? She is literally a nobody - you may as well gamble on a member of public.
Then there’s Louis, whose success has essentially come by being lucky - that audition is awful!
It’s a shame cos Robbie is an amazing signing, you could have had the ultimate panel with two other qualified judges.
I just realised Ayda is Rosa from Fresh Meat
I’ve been out of the X factor loop for a while but There would be no way on earth I would return now what with Robbie and Louis!!! Possibly the worst panel line up I’ve ever seen... and that’s even before the shows aired 😂
Louis wasn't even that good as a support judge. At least we might get some unintelligent & humorous Tulisa-esque remarks or behaviour like choosing Led Zeppelin on GUILTY PLEASURES week.
What an utterly tragic line-up! :')
gloria hunniford for the voice
Andrea McLean to judge the Olympics tbh
Tragic
Simon is so so out of touch, 'Robbie has been on his list for years' - sure, but once it would have made a mammoth signing.. now? Not so much. And to bend to him so much that he brings his wife AND will be away for a couple of the live shows!? Mess.
"Soz Nicole, we're getting rid of you for somebody from Loose Women"
Surely she's seething?
I would be fuming if I was Nicole
I don't know if I'll bother this year. might watch the lives but lawd that judging panel is dire.
Half of me wants to watch to see how bad it gets, but the other half just cannot be arsed The panel probably needed a shake up but this is pretty much nailing its coffin. It was hard enough to watch last series and that was with a tried and tested panel. With the quality of the actual show spiralling, they shouldn't risk a panel like this when that's one of the fundamental things that can save the show even if the talent base is worse that year for example.
Still confused as to why Cheryl's not back!! I thought she had already been given a contract.
It's a bit of an odd panel but I'm not going to make any judgements just yet - there's every chance they could be a brilliant panel when we see them in action (and I'll get my first taste tomorrow as I'm going to watch the auditions). Robbie is a huge name even if he's not quite as relevant as he once was, and Louis is going to appeal to the youth. I've actually seen quite a lot of buzz already for his appointment - his singing ability is debatable but he was part of one of the biggest boybands EVER (and it makes sense that it's him over any of the others, he's the only one signed to Syco still). Ayda is the questionable one, but I'm keeping an open mind and I hope she'll be very entertaining.
Louis might not be a great singer but is co-writer of 90% of all 1D songs, has his own label and is managing his own girlband.
This is making last year looking like 2010!! just WHO are they trying to appeal to with this panel? if it's young people Robbie and Ayda aren't going to do anything for that and I don't think Louis REALLY will, he hasn't released a single for eight months (and it flopped) and it's not like he's always in the news. I miss old X factor :'(
Bring back Cheryl and Danni
Not gonna go into details really but I went to the auditions yesterday and the panel won me over. All of them worked really well together, offering relevant critique and they all brought a sense of lightheartedness too. Ayda was entertaining and her and Robbie naturally bounce off each other very well, and I think if people give the panel a chance, they'll be just as impressed as me! It's the freshest the show has felt in a while I think.
Also: Louis confirmed yesterday that there's no bootcamp this year, the acts will be going from the auditions to six chair challenge!
Well that's a positive at least^
The last time they shook the show up this much was in 2015 & we all know how well that went...
Ooh that's better, they did that in the final series of XF Australia and it felt so much better, bootcamp kind of kills momentum when they really drag it out and nobody really cares Whereas everyone kinda loves the auditions and then six chair challenge gets the pressure right on so it's one of the best bits.
oh I might actually watch it if they're going straight form auditions into six chair, last year it really dragged and I don't want to watch all that again.
(who am I kidding I'm probs watching it whatever)
Thank GOD there's no more bootcamp
https://twitter.com/superTV247/status/1024710683001274369
This year's judge's categories have (apparently) been leaked!
They're filming the six chair challenge right now so that's where it'll be from!
I got Louis and Robbie right, I thought they might have given the girls to Ayda though!
Won't miss boot camp.the live shows are always my fave part and I hated the fact they shortened them last year.
I’ve never understood why the press always reports that the live shows are everyone’s least favourite part. This isn’t the voice
Will the contract for the X Factor be extended or not as it ends next year.
Rumour has it ITV might be trying to get The Four as a possible replacement but I can see this just being a tactic to reduce the cost for a renewal...
How do we see Louis doing as a judge?
We should be getting a date soon, I'm predicting September 1st.
Louis was the best judge for me at the auditions I saw! He was the most level-headed and gave the best critique actually.
Confirmed start date from ITV of next Saturday, 1st September. There is literally no buzz about it anywhere. Looking at this picture of that irrelevant one from 1D, who apparently has come dressed as Michael Carroll c. 2002, and is supposed to be a judge, I can see why. Karma for trying to blame Olly for everything wrong in the 2015 series if you ask me:
Looking like 8.00pm - 9.15pm the timeslot when it starts.
David Walliams will be Simon's assistant at Judges' Houses. As if the line-up couldn't get any worse, I just heard the barrel scraping
Yes David!
He obviously has little to do with music but he's had plenty of judging experience and I think it'll make for quite an entertaining watch!
https://metro.co.uk/2018/08/23/x-factor-contestant-anthony-russell-is-back-after-dropping-out-in-2017-despite-being-bookies-favourite-to-win-7875263/
Anthony Russell who dropped out of last year's series due to drugs is back! Hopefully he's better now, he had quite a good voice.
Oh dear he was terrible.
Janice Robinson had uncredited vocals on Livin' Joy's 1995 UK #1 song 'Dreamer'!
Who’s watching tonight then?
Won’t be watching it tonight as I’m out, but will catch up in the morning!
Nope
I always end up watching but I cba this year :')
Me and Bray will be watching with takeaway in tow *.*
this is the first year i won’t be watching. i have no interest in it at all
I'll probably watch the premiere to see what it's like but I have no interest at all this year :/ The hype (or lack of) is just so muted.
I saw a couple of episodes last year.
The year before I was watching but didn't care too much if I missed an episode.
I think for at least three years prior I was hate watching the show and needed alcohol to get through it.
So as much as I am curious about the first episode, I don't think I actually care anymore to see the mess.
I didn't even know it was back this weekend until I clicked on this thread. Used to love the X Factor so much - Series 2-7 were just amazing and iconic and really it did start to drop when Simon tried to make it big in the US with the format and failed. 8-10 were acceptable to a point, but everything since has just seemed so tired. 8-10 and even in 7 you could see the manipulation and the production interference more and more and now it just feels like a parady... like the Peter Kay p!ss take a few years ago; Geraldine McQueen
This series; I don't like Louis, Robbie is a knobhead and I have no interest in his wife. I'm tempted to watch the first show just to see what its like... but I can't even be bothered to do that
I think they'd be best off having more of a focus on the shite auditions than the good ones... like the earlier series'. That'd bring in millions of YouTube views and potentially build some hype for the next few weeks, at least.
I'll be watching as usual, but you lot are putting me off! Surely it can't be that bad... I enjoyed last years', at least.
I'd hope everyone will watch with an open mind, there's a lot of negativity surrounding this series (and I understand the scepticism around Ayda) but I hope and think it'll be an enjoyable watch throughout!
I can't help but feel there's going to be a serious record low ratings for this - there seems no hype at all
Watching out of habit really but I want to be impressed by the panel/format. Hoping it just doesn't come across as tired.
That was hideous, Rat Su without the backing vocals
Savage Simon back please, that was a good indicator *.*
That boyband were atrocious
Felt like I was hearing something different to everyone else just then, I found that rendition of And I'm Telling You quite painful oops he was trying too hard to be Jennifer Hudson vocally.
Can we end this show now, we just found this year's winner
And that boy band called No Labels was like watching paint dry, bloody awful.
The reaction was a bit too much, but I liked his performance.
Jesus wept what is this Rak-Su tribute act
The lovechild of Rak-Su and Reggie N Bollie :')
Were they miming? I don't understand.
Good dancers though.
I enjoyed that! Very current and relevant and they had plenty of energy.
They could be like BROCKHAMPTON if they changed their sound a bit ;o
I can see a girl group coming out of this lot.
I like them putting the groups together, saves a lot of mediocre solo airtime
99p store Louisa Johnson is about the best so far
Nobody's impressed me too much so far... also it'd be great to see more crap ones like the first group.
wtf is this and that Doctor Doctor performance
omg Dreamer yes.
Oh yes! I loved this american woman singing dance music
SANG
this panel has no chemistry at all and it’s all very american tv shtick for my taste
all
SMASH
I would love if Dreamer rocketed to #1 next week
I've only just clocked that Janice was the original vocalist who sang Dreamer in 1995!
Dreamer is at #201 on iTunes.
f***ing hell this is embarrassing
Janice was by far the best tonight!
He's defo got a bit of a thing for Robbie x
Good grief, that was so painful to hear.
Terrible singer but a very fun audition
Janice was the best thing tonight.
Also week on week I can see a lot of auditions with covers of Robbie and Take That tracks.
Oh no! That man from last years series is back.
That was pretty dire to be honest, I don't usually mind the auditions stages because it can be entertaining but there was virtually nothing of note either for talent or amusement.
Terrible first show, everything was so repetitive and dull minus the aforementioned group thing. The judging panel is looking like one of their worst ever (obvs it's too early to say that but early indications BAD), Louis I found boring, Ayda slightly annoying and Robbie irritating af I really think the contract won't be renewed after next year...
I think there is room for improvement, but Louis is boring as f***, he looks like he doesn't want to be there, and Ayda what does she know about the music industry, it feels she is the odd one out, Robbie comes across as a right tw@t sometimes. Its like Simon was scrapping the bottom of the barrel with judges this year, it feels like a list of z-celebs.
Louis as a soloist isn't exactly huge, although it's perhaps worth noting that he's the only 1D member left to have a 100% top 40 record with his singles but of course he's mostly known for 1D and I think that will secure him relevance for quite a while even if his solo music does bomb (like Miss You lol).
Just watching now on +1
Louisa Johnson came to mind with It’s A Man’s World’ too. Louisa’s version is my most favourite performance of all time. Just incredible!
Really not liking the cast at the moment. I’ve never liked Robbie, not sure who Ayda is but I’m not liking he eitherr. Louis seems okay, but I’m not 100% sold on him!
I didn't absolutely hate the show but it's almost worse that it was just so... Boring? It just felt like a total vacuum of the fun that auditions can bring, and there wasn't an abundance of undeniably great talent to help out. I can't take to the judges at all, Ayda is ok I suppose, Louis is a total charisma vacuum and Robbie just likes it to be about himself. It was a bit of a slog to watch to be honest and whilst I'm always like "it's X Factor I have to watch" and often there's nothing else on anyway, it's going to be a task to keep bothering with this series.
I am struggling to warm to ayda, she is giving off vibes that I'm not liking.
5.67m watched the show last night
That’s the lowest launch ever and 500k down on last year’s 6.2m!
I do like x factor but it does seem so stale. As I always say Simon thinks it's more about the judges than the talent.
Ngl I expected even less but I suppose it did have the curiosity factor of being a premiere with practically a whole new judging panel.
The share is up on last year though, so that's something.
I expect tonight will be down to 4.5 million?
There has got to be a limit as to how far it will drop. There will be people who will continue to watch out of habit/nothing else on and also those who genuinely still like it.
It will be interesting to see how much it drops against Strictly next week.

I think im one of the viewers who watch out of habit, as it doesnt excite me anymore,i do generally prefer the live shows though.
That was different
Joseph's gonna be ALL OVER that Brendan dude.
I'm sorry but his voice is like nails on a chalkboard, nobody should sing Kate Bush but Kate Bush and least of all someone who couldn't even sing his own eurovision entry
He sounds like pre-puberty Niall Horan with a cold that was horrific....
What on Earth were they listening to?!
I caught up on last night's and as expected the panel was awful. It was so void of any chemistry and interest...not sure I'll bother much with this series tbh
I've got nothing to add about tonight's show, its bloody awful.
A 36 year old being too old yet a 53 year old being fine I mean know the former was average af but they could have just said that, I don't know why Simon had to really stick the boot in like that...
Knew it would be.
Not watching. Robbie is an arrogant self centred douche who loves fame, his wife non famous, Louis Tomlinson has the personality of a squashed baked bean, and Simon Cowell gushes over every pile of shet that can earn him even a single $ now.
How long can the ratings go, ah said how low can they go!
This is the worst episode I think I've ever seen
I can see Anthony getting the royal tournament from Louis, tonight's episode was dull as anything.
Brendan Murray lol
I was skeptical about the new panel before the series started, but two episodes in and I love them. Ayda's my favourite despite obviously being the smallest name on the panel. I presumed Louis would be my least favourite of the new judges, but he's better than I thought. He's not exactly been a ray of sunshine, but his criticisms have been on point thus far.
Off to a good start *.*
Yeah, it's nowhere near as bad as everyone's making out. Don't think we've seen anyone who'll go much further than 6 Chair so far though.
Just caught up on the first two eps and it was excruciating Yeah, I'm done. It's a shame because I've watched every single series but I have absolutely zero interest now.
There is no way Simon Cowell did not know Brendan Murray prior as Louis had said in an interview here in Ireland when the song was picked he worked with Simon Cowell. Tonights show was better but everything is coming across very rehearsed more so than usual.
Already gone under 5m last night and the same show last year got 6.5 I’m not sure how I feel tbh, I wanted the contract not to be renewed next year to give it a break but it’s sad to see what was my favourite show so low!
This is so getting axed isn't it? A few years ago I'd have cried over that but now, I think it's had its time. Just isn't what it used to be. Barely anyone who's actually good or entertaining so far.
It's completely manufactured and fake too. They take us for idiots. It's time it was axed and replaced by something less manipulative!!
I remember when everyone talked about The X Factor a few years ago for the good reasons, but now you get questioned for why you watch it!
I used to love the show back in the day (and I'm still a fan tbh) but it's certainly had its moment. Between 2008-2010 was when it was at its peak and it's kinda telling that the show hasn't produced a big star for 5-6 years now. The beginning of the end was when Simon jumped ship to the USA version, it was OK for a couple of years then but it was on a gradual decline, then I think the 2015 series of the show with the Rugby World Cup was the final nail in the coffin.
The thing is people's televsion watching habits changed, back when it was in its heyday there was no Netflix etc. I think a lot of the casual viewers switched to Strictly or just consumed different shows.
Joseph dead at Ozzie x
My ears are dead too.
was that Joseph
These two girls are the best so far this series I think, they're not perfect but like they all said they had an hour and came up with that so there's real potential!
Robbie asking a transgender person their former name etc with his feet up on the desk all smug :/ Poor Felix getting abuse on twitter for going on about his personal life just because he was pushed into it by prying into it all details Really liked him, what a lovely guy.
*.*
LMAOOO what the flying f*** was that
That's entertainment You don't see anything like that every day
Maria is by FAR the best we've heard so far, the only one of these first 3 shows where I've thought she could actually go far!
She reminds me of a better Alisah from last year, more rounded and warm rather than just being typical belting diva.
Yeah Maria is my favourite contestant this year so far too, what a star! Ivo second tbh
Maria and those two young girls are my favourites of tonight's show and Ivo for entertainment value
I cant warm to the show this year at all, i know its only early stages but im just about holding on. I cant take to Ayda at all.
Ozzie's audition was definitely different, but I feel like with a more modern sound and song he could be pretty decent!
Maria, Felix and the two girls were fantastic tonight though!
RATINGS: 4.6m last night
That’s 1.1M DOWN on last week!
Kiki is me trying to sing JHud, relatable queen
The first girl reminded me of Fleur East. Burgundy was a hoot.
Christ that was legit like somebody doing Ed Sheeran on the hideous Harry Hill reboot of Stars In Their Eyes
Hot babe on stage
I'm surprised she didn't have a wardrobe malfunction
Robbie is really grating on me as a judge, why does he have to make everything about him?
I do actually want to like Louis but it is driving me up the wall that he calls everyone 'lad' all the time. Do people actually talk like that as the contestants seem to talk back like it too?
Former JESC national finalist for Greece and frequently rumoured Armenian Eurovision artist Athena Manoukian
Those 3 are on the wrong show, they would have been better on BGT
I'm enjoying this less and less, Robbies father just out of the blue on the panel, I know it's always been staged but this year is so over the top obvious and it's coming the robbie show.
Really liked Tommy and Scarlett tonight
That trio really should be on BGT instead though. Somehow don't think they'll progress any further than the next round though. Was strange seeing Anetha on there too, she's followed me on Instagram for a while.
The talent level was much better this week, I've been feeling like 2 or 3 of them have potential to go far, and they deserve to. I love Scarlett, she has to be my fave so far. She's not perfect but you can tell how she's improved and she's got such a likeability and so much heart, warmth and passion when she sings and it makes you really root for her, that's part of what the "X factor" is to me.
I think the main problem for me is the panel, Robbie is very self obsessed, Ayda just isn't that likeable, and Louis is drab as anything although he's the best of the 3 at actually offering anything worthwhile in the way of comments. Simon is a shadow of his former self but I knew that from how he's been the past couple of seasons and on AGT and BGT. I just think it's hurt the show that they were so desperate to get Robbie they hired his wife too when neither are really giving the show THAT much.
The problem Simon fails to see is the constant changing in the judging panel is doing more damage than good and i really do think he has got it very wrong this time. I will hold back full judgement until i see the live shows but going from what i have seen so far the show has lost all its magic.
Wtf was that it was shocking
Apparently a bit of Rak-Su's new single is being played on today's show, hopefully it's better than Pyro Ting.
This Is Me. What an original song!
I'm not enjoying this choir at all, the vocals are quite painful, it feels very karaoke and they sounded out of time at more than one place? Of course they'll sail through though.
errr... wrong show
That Choir :/
It does feel like a lot of acts more suited to BGT are finding their way onto XF this year... That choir were alright, but I was probably more interested in the song itself than them.
*.* And the theme tonight: MUSICALS
I thought Georgia was excellent, first act this entire year so far that I could imagine buying music by, incredible voice.
Much better tonight, the contestants were better and also there was less of the Robbie and ayda focus which is good as its been to focused on them the last 2 weeks.
Need to properly catch up but jesus wept, I just saw that choir on Youtube I think that might be the worst I've heard out of what's been put through to the next stage, none of them could sing individually that well. A choir should be on BGT really but there just wasn't enough of them for it to have that uplifting and joyous feel a good choir should have. A choir with like 100 people sang This Is Me on America's Got Talent the other week and it was actually really powerful and striking, but that obviously takes a lot of work and everyone being in sync. This felt like a bunch of people told they were doing This Is Me at random a few minutes before and flung on stage together There was a complete lack of atmosphere or emotion, just awful.
RATINGS: 5.3m (up 700k on last week)
The ratings will go back down to 4.5m when Strictly is back next week
That choir appeared on that Pitch Battle show too :')
First time watching this in AGES.
That girl has got lungs on her, what a voice, great audition, with a winning performance, can we just let her win,
The Essex girl was bit scatty and loud, did nothing for me.
Lanya was fab, I can imagine her doing a Gifty though I also would love to hear her sing something like Alicia Keys or Jill Scott, she was a bit strained at odd times on this performance and the song was a little bit too big I think but her voice is bloody brilliant <3
The girl at the start feels like girl group fodder, she's good and has a distinct voice but she doesn't feel 100% ready.
Both Ayda and Louis are growing on me as judges, I had to laugh at the former yesterday when she commented on the predictability of the music that builds up as the judges are making their decisions and Louis has been giving out a lot of constructive criticism that I've also agreed with too. Now "lad" needs to stop sneaking into his sentences my favourite of last night was definitely Georgia, could see her going far, she kinda reminds me of Louisa!
Is that girl really 32
Jason Derulo without the dancing.
Painful vocals. Watch the judges the stan.
That was TERRIBLE, his voice was going right through me - what on earth were the judges hearing?!
Is that Rylan in disguise
Bang Bang dude was EVERYTHING
Rise Up
I like his voice a lot but why on earth is he singing Rise Up in this way? There's SO many songs in his key and style why not do that....
This sounds very limp, not getting the Rise Up I'm afraid.
Nathan Grisdale of 2015 #67 smash hit Only One fame *_*
Are these auditions lacking in groups, I think for the past 3 weeks I've only seen 1 group audition so far...
Rise Up used to be one of my favourite songs of all time, but The X Factor has ruined it.
What a performance that was faultless, she could go all the way.
Shan was incredible, I saw her audition when it was being filmed, I'm sure she sang an original first and smashed it out of the park, before the judges asked her to sing again just because, and that was the Never Enough performance. I wish they showed the original song but both were faultless performances
PANDA ROSS IN THE NEXT TIME PREVIEW !!!!!!! QUEEN
Shan was easily the best we've heard so far, totally effortless in every way. That's such a hard song to capture the emotion and nail all the nuances but she totally did it, and effortless is one of the best things you can be on this show I think, to sing a song like that and make it look like there's nothing to it is incredible
Shan was AMAZING definitely my favourite so far !
Shan was fantastic, probably one of my favourites from what we've seen so far. Nobody else really caught my attention in that episode though.
He's good
but.... wrong show darling
Omg he was Romania's Eurovision in 2013
Definitely another one who should be on BGT, like Tre Amici the other week and the choir last week
I own Louise's album actually, I don't think I've listened to much of it but she has such a great voice and her original song was beautiful
She's great if a bit Radio 2
Claire was brilliant, she screams that one over they don't do much with who is out week 3 though
Panda *.*
Today's show feels like The Overs Show so far all the auditions just fit the Overs category
wtf...
They're gonna have to make up SO many groups, there's only been that choir, the two girls they put together, the ones who were basically Poundland Rak-Su and Tre Amici off the top of my head, and I think of those only the two girls have much of a chance. Odd that not many groups have auditioned when a group won last year, you'd think they'd have renewed hope but we've pretty much only got niche groups. Maybe one of them might make it for the token something different and be like 2nd out at best.
Really don't like J Sol or whatver he's called's voice, a bit too nasally and whiny for me :/
Gaia from Malta won Junior Eurovision 2013 fyi!
That's Anthony getting to the live shows now Louis has the boys
Girls and overs very strong!
The Girls category looks pretty strong, but I didn't notice if Gaia from Malta was there, really routing for her.
The groups we really don't know some of them apart from the two little twerps, the 2 gospel groups and the opera male singers, I guess some groups will be made up. It be interesting to see what becomes of that category, as we didn't much groups in the auditions.
Simon saying he preferred the gospel group's version of Mercy to the original... 👀
It feels like everyone we've seen that got a yes is through to the Six Chair Challenge? I don't think I recognised anybody in the other room.
"if these chairs represent hard work"
THEY DO
LMAOOOOOOO legit tweeted similar, immediately what I thought of
What is the big fuss around Bella, she got as much airtime as the others combined :/
Simon talking sense here. She was awful.
EDIT: WAIT. WHAT.
oh ffs I thought he was sending her home!!
At best she'd be fine in one of those fodder girlbands that is out 3rd week.
I can't say I see the appeal with Bella. That performance didn't really do it for me, but she's not terrible by any means.
I loooove Bella!
I just wish that they’d stop rushing through this.
Most of those girls will be gone, Simon just put every Tom, Dick & Harry on them. Bella is crap. I don't like the new chair challenge at all. Should have all the girls first rather been picky later.
Good god, that was awful
The first 6 contestants are all getting seats, how predictable
This is edited terribly, it makes it look like they've finished with the girls but I think they're rushing through the irrelevant ones who won't keep their seats? But idk why not just have an episode for each category and have it over the next 2 weekends done properly.
I think 4 acts in each category are going to the lives, as this year we didn't have boot camp
AS f***ing if he just sent Lanya out!!!! This is actually a joke
Some of those girls are awful, Lanya was the best thing on there, ffs.
Surprised the Maltese girl didn't make it to the 6 chair challenge
Jesus christ that guy singing Stay sounds like he was on his deathbed running out of air to sing with :/ What on EARTH were they listening to?
OMG IVO GETTING HIS SEAT RIGHT AFTER, wtf is this
I swear they're watching different auditions to what we see.
"Your voice and song choice was terrible so I'm gonna give you a seat"
Lol bye Ivo
Ayda's having a great time playing musical chairs with seat 4
This year's 6 chair challenge is an epic fail, I think they are planning it over 4 shows at the rate its going. If it ain't broken don't fix it. I've lost interest in the 6 chair challenge after all that. You would think we get the full line up sorted for both categories.
I just watched this for the first time this series. won't be watching again no ma'am.
Can this just be axed before the live shows start
This was probably the worst Six Chair Challenge stage yet...there was just no drama? And the decisions were pretty bad.
Somehow it managed to be simultaneously rushed and dragged out.
Also mess at Sharon now pulling out of the live shows LMAO...she knows a sinking ship when she sees one!
I hated the constant going back to the two act groups. Was off putting.
That was quite possibly the most shoddy and terrible episode of X Factor ever, edited really badly and completely rushed through pretty much everyone apart from the golden button or whatever they're called acts, and even then Bella was possibly the weakest of the 6 girls left on seats... I mean a couple of the audition episodes were kinda boring and lacking in standout moments or real talent but at least they were coherent episodes of TV. It just left me feeling like I care even less about the acts sat there, I could barely remember how half of them were or what song they sang, so I was thinking swap most of them out I don't care And then of course pretty much the only one bar Shan who was actually really good (Lanya) got swapped out BEFORE that Britain's Got Talent 7th in the semi fodder from that woman who did The Prayer and did both Celine and Andrea's parts Her being switched out is one of the most baffling Six Chair moments ever. None of the others left bar Shan and maybe Bella (I don't like her voice, but there's at least something, she screams being the unique one in a girlband) have much to them or much to remember. But of course when you don't really get a chance to judge them or digest their performance, it's going to feel muted and flat. I always feel like that if I rush through a new album or a set of songs for a contest on here, if you just rush through they don't leave any impression on you and you feel really disappointed, even if they're actually good and you realise later when you actually give it time. We don't need to see the entirety of every performance but I had Strictly paused for a couple minutes before the last dance, so when I put it back on to watch I switched XF on a minute or two late and they had 3 seats filled
I agree with "rushed but drawn out" for sure, they totally blitzed through the actual acts but it felt like the category was never done because before they were done they switched back to the other category, and even at the end of the episode they felt the need to leave it hanging. And really, who actually cares *that* much? Like yes I'm still watching, but there's a lot to be said for just getting on with it. It doesn't command the amount of attention it used to, it's not such an event, it doesn't need to pretend like the whole nation is hanging on to find out and drag it out for even longer. It's absolutely fine as a fairly easy watch where you watch some people singing, but they seem intent on butchering it with the editing etc.
It's a shame because the Six Chair Challenge is normally really good and I get quite into the whole swapping thing, but it's been worse than the auditions so far which were hardly stellar :/
Yesterday's episode was the first I tuned in for because I usually prefer Six Chair to the Auditions stage.
As mentioned, it was so sloppily edited and ultimately just so boringly predictable. There's no real fun to the concept any more. The judges fill the seats up quickly to create as many swaps as possible for "drama", all the tired "bring them back" chants... blah. Barely anyone shown yesterday was all that good, certainly not to get worked up about if their seat was taken away. The new golden button thing was a fail for me purely because it was used on two acts I didn't understand the appeal of, at least not to the extent of giving them a short cut to the judges homes. Going back and forth between Simon & Ayda's categories was a really bad call.
I'll probably swerve the rest of the Six Chair episodes and see if it's worth picking up again at Judges Houses.
It's only on for an hour tonight so are we getting the sing off, the last of the overs, the boys and the groups in just an hour? Surely not
Or is this going to continue next weekend?
EDIT: Just checked and six chair is next Saturday as well.
Jesus wept, Ayda has NO f***ing clue does she?
There is only 1 decent act in the overs, and that is Grace, the rest are pretty much useless.
Cringe worthy
That was so bad, are the judges deaf.
Is Danny just going to "sing" And I Am Telling You at every stage? Ayda has an absolutely horrendous category :/
Panda and Burgundy were incredible and shouldn't have been swapped out but really what are two 40+ year old gospel/soul ish singers going to do as a group?
Now I bet Louie will press the buzzer for Anthony, it's so predictable
relatable
This lad in the white shirt...his voice is literally nails on a chalk board, what on EARTH
Simon and Louis' golden buzzers being among their worst acts :') Brendan's voice is excruciating to listen to, I actually had to pause and then fast forward with the accumulated time.......
This 6 chair challenge is so bad
Brendan is everything, I feel so proud
This 6 chair challenge used to be fun to watch, all these acts I have seen so far in each category, I really can't even pick a winner, they seem to be dull. I think Robbie is going to have the winning act at this rate.
And Ayda, I totally give up on her, deaf as a post, and what does she know about music. The Overs seem to be the weakest so far... the Boys category I really can't call it.
This series seems so flat.
It's a bit early, but any predictions for live show performers (honestly, it's one of my favourite parts of the show )
Rak-Su is a definite, and probably Louis Tomlinson as well.
My other predictions are Rita Ora, Clean Bandit and Marina (I can't see Luis Fonsi being there!), Jess Glynne, Olly Murs and for some riskier predictions: Westlife and Take That (possibly with Robbie) for the final.
Not sure about Westlife though
Cheryl too most likely
Don't forget Little Mix
Probably Michael Bublé at some point, maybe Kylie and Jack Savoretti with their duet?
A bit more unlikely, but I'd love to see Bastille perform Happier.
Just caught up on Sunday's episode. Ayda definitely had some of the strongest people in the competition going into the six chair challenge, but a lot of her decisions were questionable. She's probably left with maybe one or two acts left that could actually do well in the live shows, but even then she'll probably get rid of them at judges' houses. Don't know what she was thinking giving Danny a chair.
The boys are probably looking like the strongest category so far. I can't say I've disagreed with any of Louis' decisions so far, although there are a couple that do have seats that 100% need to go. The girls is probably the weakest category at the moment - I only really care for Shan (Maria was good in the sing-off too). Georgia is so unlikeable, so hopefully she's sent home at judges' houses.
This Is Me getting that extra push
Oh god this category is looking awful
Good christ the standard going through to JHs is diabolical, the only one of the boys I even remotely like is Thomas. Brendan's voice is Jay James levels of insufferable, J Sol has a really irritating nasally tone, Anthony is just terrible, Armstrong and Dalton I suppose are alright, I get their talents just not my thing at all. A really bad year for talent all round though it's not just this category! :/ Idk why I'm even watching lmao other than out of habit.
I'm a little behind (just got to the choir) as I popped to the shop after Strictly but very much doubt things will be looking up with the groups
Actually the girl band look really good on paper, but they do need tweaking a bit, a part of me says, its Little Mix 2
Omg they even kind of LOOK like Little Mix Pretty good performance though for presumably a first one (they were put together right) though there's definitely potential! The first act all night where I actually sat up and took notice and was impressed.
It's verging on embarrassing how bad this series is, omg
I actually take the two male and female duos, and the girl band to the finals, the rest to me look like fodder.
But 5 and 6 have to go, and maybe the flipping choir, they are on the wrong show. The gospel group, there is room for potential, I suppose.
I like the two with the guitar and the electronic drums, which means they won't get through.
EDIT: I looked them up, and I actually recognise one of their original songs.
They don't seem like the sort of people who would do this show!
Those guys' song was catchy but this is pretty just Rak-Su
The boy band just screams out.... One Direction
Oh wow this boyband is actually pretty good for only just being together, didn't think I'd be quite impressed with the group as a category! They definitely need a lot of work but them, the two girls and the girl group have a fair bit of potential and tbh that's about the most we can hope for in a year like this...
At the least the tumbleweed is finally chucked out.
Yaass Panda and Burgundy QUEENS, ik they'd get nowhere in the charts but lbr none of them will with the show in this state, they're having the time of their lives up there and BRINGING it.
The choir is the only one I can't really see anything in out of the groups, a few of them have a way to go but with some guidance there's something there which is more than you can say for a majority of the other 3 categories I'm not huge on Misunderstood who as I said just feel like Rak-Su pt II but at least their song was damn catchy.
Speaking of awful X Factor groups. I just had a horrible memory of The Unconventionals.
I don't think that boyband were that good, I can see them going out in the next round, unless Robbie wants a new Take That/ One Direction band The Choir what can you really do with them, and Panda and Burgundy, seems to be weakest act in this category.
I still think the female duos and the male duos, with the girl band are the final 3.
Honestly this years contestants are just awful? Like there's not even a stand out at all let alone a stand out in each group.
The Judges' Houses guest judges -
Simon - Paula Abdul & Randy Jackson (they were all on American Idol together)
Robbie - David Walliams
Ayda - Leona Lewis & Adam Lambert
Louis - Liam Payne & Nile Rodgers
The boys and the groups are probably the two strongest categories for me. Granted, nobody from this series screams smash, or anything other than Louisa Johnson levels of success but the girls and the overs are pretty dire.
Dread to think what the ratings will be today with a half-hour clash with Strictly
I loved the first girl's performance!
Agreed, she was very good!
Mollie and Shaye are the best acts so far. I didn't like the last 2 performances.
Shan, Maria and Scarlett would be my ideal choices to go to live shows, but I can't see past Bella and (potentially) Georgia getting through.
Mollie was pretty good but I think Scarlett just had the first moment of the series
Should be Shan, Mollie and Scarlett through but I cant really see Bella missing out and Georgia could throw a spanner in the works :/ I find the latter so unlikable after her 6 chair debacle.
I think all 6 girls were very strong actually it’s hard to see what way it will go. I think all of them would have probably gotten through in a year when the girls category wasn’t as strong !
When the first three were announced, I thought that was it, so now 4 are going through to the finals, I really don't like Bella to be honest, mind you Bella would have been the Wild Card.
4 from each category? I couldn't pick 3 for the boys and overs
I knew Bella would go through though, there's strong singers in the form of the other 3 and Bella is something a bit different with her rap angle. I still don't think she's that good though, she'd be fine in a girlband but it's just not there on her own. Not sure the winner will come from the girls, Shan is brilliant though. I love Scarlett but feel like she'll do a Lauren Murray.
I'm worried Shan might end up doing similarly to the likes of Kiera Weathers, but hopefully they allow her to keep going as she is with her original songs, etc. I agree with Liam too that Scarlett will likely do a Lauren Murray at best.
Best entrance since Sinitta
Misunderstood doing another song about "fit girls" :')
Ok choices from Robbie I guess, it definitely had to be A* and I suppose I get Misunderstood (even if they are basically Rak-Su right down to the loud music drowning out the fact they aren't that good vocally) but that choir is abysmal and the boyband is a gamble but I guess he didn't have anything else, I liked Panda and Burgundy but they definitely came across as two random singers plonked together.
The girls were better than the boys vocally, he put the wrong band through.
The boys are by far the worst category, not looking forward to any of these
I thought the girl group was pretty awful, the boy band showed more potential vocally and sounded pretty decent together (while the girls sounded almost painful when singing in unison)
CHRIST Liam's so f***ing fit
This category is awful, nobody sticks out and you just know Anthony is going through no matter what.
Jesus christ if I had the boys I think I'd just take Thomas (and even then he's bordering on novelty and would just have one or two camp performances and go) and then let the others have one of their rejects each come back, possibly the worst category I've seen in AGES in this show
J-Sol has a really awful nasally tone, the Friends theme tune guy was alright but forces his gravel/edge a bit, the Listen guy I suppose is alright but I hated him singing that, Anthony has no presence at all plus an average voice at best, and I've said enough how much Brendan's voice goes through me so I'm not expecting anything from him :')
ffs I didn't even realise the time, was nervous/excited for Brendan's performance
You know something, my favourite has to be Holly from the girls category, to be honest I really don't care who wins, most of the acts are pretty awful. The overs are looking awful as well, I feel this series is a big let down, maybe someone from Simon's category is going to take it.
And what can you do with a choir week on week, if there is a dance theme
I can't believe that annoying choir got through. I can see lots of choirs in next years auditions.
I wanted Panda & Burgandy as this year's novelty act.
God those 4 boys have made it one of the worst categories ever on this show
Good grief, those boys are awful, if Anthony wins we all know its fixed
They might wanna focus on getting their artists a top 40 in this country first
Axe! Axe! Get the axe for this show!
I refuse to believe Louise wasn't in the top 4 out of the 6 in this category a real loss there.
Jesus Christ Ayda is HOPELESS She sent home by far her two best. That might be even worse than the boys. Ola is like a poundland version of that Wiggle Wine guy off BGT.
Actually her whole category feels like what the overs were like in like 2007 when they used to be a bit of a pointless joke category with no hope. Terry and Janice are both great vocalists but they don't have much to them in terms of that dazzle or "X Factor". I know the show is well past producing any form of star but still!
Danny Tetley I think Simon was right 17 years ago, that gravel voice is really irritating. And Louise was probably the best act in this category is Ayda really DEAF
Just caught up on the weekend's episodes and yeah, Ayda seriously messed up sending both Louise and Ricky home. I can see her potentially losing two or three of her acts in the first few weeks.
There's really not anybody spectacular in any of the categories, but the boys and the groups are the strongest, I think.
Jonas Blue was apparently the other choice to judge after Louis, jesus
To be honest, I think he would've been quite good.
Rak-Su have tweeted that they’re performing at this weeks live shows. They should’ve got Little Mix instead to help them get to #1
Is J Sol still in this? He performed at my school earlier in the year. Left pretty much no impression on me.
Every time I hear 'Vibe 5', the name sounds worse.
They're "Vibe United" now apparently which is even worse
Oh lord that’s awful.
‘Vibe 5’ was actually better.
I hate that they’ve gone back to the old format. I preferred it last year when the contestants were sent home by the public vote as they made it a fair contest
Queen Keala Settle is the other guest this wekeend 😍😍
Also I'm so glad we're back to the old format, last year was horrendous
https://tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/the-x-factor/379348-x-factor-2018-spoilers-song-choices-for-first-live-show-revealed.html
Song choices:
Girls
Bella Penfold: Labrinth ft. Emeli Sande - Beneath Your Beautiful (with original rap)
Molly Scott: BTS - Fake Love
Scarlett Lee: Aretha Franklin - Natural Woman
Shan Ako: John Lennon - Imagine
Groups
Acacia & Aaliyah: Bruno Mars ft. Cardi B - Finesse
LMA Choir: Elton John - Circle of Life
Misunderstood: Chewing Gum (original)
United Vibe: Niall Horan - Slow Hands
Overs
Danny Tetley: Mariah Carey - Hero
Giovanni Spano: Elton John - Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting
Janice Robinson: Zedd ft. Foxes - Clarity
Olatunji Yearwood: Jiggle It (original)
Boys
Anthony Russell: Julia Michaels - Issues
Armstrong Martins: One Direction - Story of My Life (with original rap)
Brendan Murray: Ariana Grande - Break Free
Dalton Harris: David Bowie - Life on Mars
Ugh at Anthony singing Issues AGAIN
This Is Me is going to climb in the chart again.
Why the f*** have they wasted their live performers on getting Keala Settle to perform TIM?
I mean they're obviously not big enough to get Gaga and Bradley so slay at them getting Keala I guess
I wanted LM to perform but I reckon they’ll be performing on 17th or 18th November to promote their album
Not a great set of song choices, Molly was great doing FL but really, repeating it already?! Anthony doing Issues again and presumably samey original songs from Ola and Misunderstood are making them look like one trick ponies but I suppose This Is Me is the time to do your best facet, although surely Molly and Anthony could at least sing something else.
Love the choices for Shan and Scarlett and Dalton's could actually be good but not looking forward to many of the rest, some of them (LMA, Brendan, Giovanni, Bella) sound potentially awful. I'd guess at Giovanni being a total goner which was probably going to happen anyway but with that song choice he's going to feel like such a 2005 no-hope Over
I bet they'll have a Westlife week, with Westlife performing on the results.
I just hope Keala’s performance doesn’t put TIM back on SCR
Only on Buzzjack would people's biggest fuss be who's performing on the live shows and what chart impact it has :')
Bookies favourite to win really
That was pretty awful
Molly is the best so far! Not totally mindblowing, but she's a natural and I love her tone.
Danny is very 2005 Over, Anthony is only there for his sob story and really doesn't have the pipes (I mean he was straining on a Julia Michaels song :')). I missed Misunderstood but I'm sure I got the gist, I've heard their other songs....
I quite like Janice but thought that was bad. Anyone who tries to sing this song just can't do it justice IMO.
Danny, slipped up at the start, he could be one to go tonight
Molly, best performance of the night so far, needs fine tuning further down the line.
Janice, hmmm.... could be samey week on week, I feel that was the wrong song choice for her.
Brendan, that did nothing for me, I agree with Simon, he sounded like a wet blanket.
Janice was pretty good, not sure about the production though and I agree that she will probably end up being a bit one note. It'll probably kind of be a reverse of the usual ballad heavy Over who sings I'm Every Woman one week as their token uptempo, except she'll do dance songs and then one time sing a Whitney ballad or something
Brendan is a bit better when he hits the long notes, his voice is excruciating when it's like he's whispering while on helium
Bella's song was perfect for her tone, actually shocked how much I really liked that!!
That’s probably vocally the best I’ve heard Bella . Her rapping still makes me cringe a bit though .
Bella to me she is like marmite she could have one good track one week and one bad track another week. For some reason that was pretty good from her, I really liked it.
Jesus christ what is his rapping, he's legit just speaking
This show needs to end. I have been the biggest fan in the past but my god this is horrendous
Good grief that was awful, I don't know what the audience and the judges were listening to
Gio, one trick pony, his voice can get irritating after awhile, with a rock track week on week.
This is like watching The Voice, no criticism or anything (other than a couple of "the beginning wasn't as good as the rest"), honestly what is the point of the judges?
That was a bit of a limp performance against while appliances horrible staging
Wow... what a performance, the girls are on form tonight.
Shan was in a total other league to anyone else tonight, simply stunning and powerful She's so controlled as well, she doesn't have to use everything in her arsenal to wow you. The times I've really been wowed this series was her audition and that just now, plus maybe Scarlett at JH.
Agree with Simon on the boyband, you can really tell they're manufactured and it's all trying a bit hard to be the perfect boyband and it's taking away from the fun and chemistry that a group really needs.
Ok so Shan was AMAZING the best so far by a mile !
Scarlett was incredible too, she's come SO far from last year and even her audition. You don't always need to be some ready made star who can rap, dance, sing and cartwheels, there's so much soul to her performances and she's just so likeable and that's why it's The X Factor, not The Voice. Her and Shan are easily the best!
Actually really enjoyed the choir The main girl's voice is great but I think that's one of those songs that just really fit them and their energy, I don't know where they would go from here or what their commercial viability would be.
Scarlet delivered, loved her performance, the girls are really on form.
LMA Choir, I really don't know why they are on this show to be honest, but based on that performance I think they be safe enough, but I can see them getting dumped probably in Week 3.
Judging what's I left I feel Danny Tetley and Brendan could be heading out this weekend if they are dumping 2. Or is it one from each category.
Armstrong's performance is one of the worst things I've ever seen on the show and he got a standing ovation
Watching on +1 and I just can't take it seriously anymore. Seeing Ayda Field sat there Nah, I'm switching off.
Acacia and Aaliyah, unfortunately that track did nothing for me, it sounded like Cleopatra in places. Wrong song choice.
Dalton was better than he's been so far, probably down to a really good song choice! Idk though I can't take to him as much as I maybe should.
Actually think any of the overs could go, as well as maybe Armstrong I'd have thought SURELY. Should be Armstrong and Giovanni (well it should be Brendan but it won't be).
Dalton was pretty great as well probably my favourite tonight next to Shan .
Yeah Dalton really surprised me, hopefully he keeps it up.
Overall it was a really strong show I felt, my favourites were Anthony and Gio. Ola was a guilty pleasure as well.
Armstrong was just terrible though!
Oh great.... Keala Settle performing... This Is Me storming the singles chart after the results show
And Rak-Su
...really scraping the barrel with the live acts in the first weekend of the lives.
My star ratings out of 5 for tonight:
4.5 Brendan Murray | A predictable favourite but he could sing the phone book and I'd love it. I just adore his voice. The arrangement was fab too and I really liked that he went for a more inspired song choice.
4.5 Shan Ako | A beautiful vocal, such a stunning performance and carried out so effortlessly. I still think there's more to come from her too!
4.5 Acacia & Aaliyah | I think they had some unfair criticisms. Easily their most accomplished performance thus far! So much fun and I loved the song choice too.
4.5 Janice Robinson | I'm not sure it was enough to carry her through unfortunately, I think it could easily be lost among the other acts this series, but I loved her performance.
4.0 Bella Penfold | Surprisingly brilliant! Not been so keen on her but this felt sincere and polished for the first time.
4.0 Molly Scott | I adored her version of FAKE LOVE the first time round and it was the same here, lots of potential I think!
3.5 Dalton Harris | A great voice and presence, although I think he can do even better than this!
3.5 Misunderstood | Catchy song, performed well, plenty of room for improvement as the weeks go on though.
3.5 LMA Choir | A pleasant surprise! Easily their best to date.
3.5 United Vibe | There's potential but I'd like to see a bit more originality!
3.0 Scarlett Lee | An undeniable vocal but there's nothing unique or special about her yet. I'd like to see more signs of artistry!
3.0 Armstrong Martins | I appreciate that he took a risk and did something different but it didn't quite work out. That said, the rap on its own actually sounded quite good, hence a middling score instead of a poor one.
2.5 Olatunji Yearwood | Fun, but basically a lesser Misunderstood.
2.0 Anthony Russell | I mean, I guess it meant a lot to him but it didn't do a great deal for me the first time, and it was the same a second time.
0.5 Danny Tetley | I don't think he can sing very well anyway but the vocal was definitely poor tonight and the big notes sounded AWFUL.
0.0 Giovanni Spano | godawful
An enjoyable show on the whole and lots of potential all round actually, I was surprised by the quality. Tough to call who will go tomorrow - I think Olatunji may suffer as he appeals to the same audience as Misunderstood, who do the same thing basically but better and more polished. Surely the public won't buy into that Giovanni crap too??
01 Shan 9.5/10
02 Scarlett 9/10
03 Bella 8/10
04 Dalton 7.5/10
05 Molly 7.5/10
06 LMA Choir 7.5/10
07 Janice 6/10
08 Acacia & Aaliyah 6/10
09 Olatunji 5/10
10 Misunderstood 5/10
11 United Vibe 4/10
12 Giovanni 3/10
13 Danny 3/10
14 Anthony 3/10
15 Brendan 1/10
16 Armstrong 1/10
A&A were pretty disappointing out of the ones who were my faves going into the show (them, Scarlett, Shan and Molly), Simon was right imo, it was a bit too cutesy and safe and American for them. Would be fine with any of them below A&A going tbh.
I’ve just seen that Janice is bookies favourite to leave first god I would hate that she’s got so much more to give !
As I'm Irish of course I like to support if an Irish contestant makes it to the live shows but I just don't like Brendan's voice and I said the same when he represented us at Eurovision in 2017.
The three lowest acts on the iTunes chart are:
Acacia & Aaliyah (not on the top 1500)
Armstong (1140)
United Vibe (680)
The three highest are:
Shan (68)
Anthony (76)
Dalton (88)
(Molly Scott's performance isn't on iTunes)
I think Janice will go tonight for sure. I think Bella could be in trouble too!
Wouldn't be surprised if Ayda had all 3 of the bottom 3 tbh I can probably see Danny avoiding it but the other 3 I can imagine being bottom. Armstrong or maybe A&A or United Vibe might challenge that though.
This is actually painful live
Still an absolute embarrassment that they won over Grace Screaming at the bearded one who did nothing the whole time.
Janice not bottom *.*
Thank god for that, Ola was a joke
Janice to stay now, surely she'll obliterate Armstrong in a sing-off but the judges will 100% save him.
Wow, wasn't expecting that Praying they save Janice in the sing-off.
No sad loss, I was expecting Danny to be in the bottom 3 to be honest. I feel its the end of the road for Armstrong though, as I don't think Ayda will lose 2 from her category.
She needs to deliver an 'Alive' moment that they can't deny saving.
I actually quite enjoyed Ola he was a bit of a guilty pleasure for me
The way she announces move *.* MOOOOOOO
This is excruciating to listen to
Screaming at the audience waving their arms like they're front row of an Adele concert over Armstrong screeching like he's in pain from dying
YESSSSSS!!!!
Louis is livid Simon was right though, neither song has been *quite* right for Janice even though she has the voice to do well with them anyway.
!!!!
The people always want what they want! Inspirational.
Live performances from Little Mix and Kylie next week.
That was amazing when Louis was begging Simon to save Armstrong then he just interrupts with 'I'm sending home Armstrong'.
Looking forward to Kylie and Little Mix next week
JANICE YASSS !!!!!!!
The best one's already gone out...
Janice has less appeal than drinking a large glass of wallpaper paste to me - what they heard in her is beyond me. Shame they weren't willing to go with something different for once
Argh at guilty pleasures, awful theme where they just try and pass off any given pop song from before 2010 as a "guilty pleasure"
surprised they didn't just let it go to deadlock but absolutely the right decision, though Janice's performance wasn't brilliant Armstrong's was awful, he really overdid it.
Janice and Armstrong were both terrible in the sing off imo and I quite like Janice . Both just oversang and killed the songs . Will be interesting if Ayda and Robbie ever vote against each other acts I highly doubt it
Loads of people on Twitter calling fix that Robbie sent Armstrong home because Janice is his wife's :') I mean I think he probably is more likely to save Ayda's act but it was right in this case, is he meant to vote against Ayda's act every time he's in the bottom just in case people get pissy over it?
Of course Robbie was always going to send her home Armstrong otherwise he would have ended up sleeping on the couch tonight
I'm surprised the boy band survived but they won't last long anyway.
What’s Anthony going to sing next week? Issues Remix?
I like Janice and really didnt want to her to go. I wanted Armstrong to go go over her. Dont know all the names yet but i was sure the guy with the long blonde hair would be in the bottom.
After Kylie and LM, they need James Arthur for the following live performance
He’s a former winner and I think is still resigned to Syco so I’m sure he will be on at some point.
James Arthur is certain to be performing, its just a matter of what week.
The results move to 20:30 from next week to avoid Strictly!
When do we get the song choices?
They went on the app on Saturday morning last week so probably then again. I miss the days where it was bigger and there was rumours throughout the week and you could follow it all week </3
Songs for this week are out!
Anthony - I Want To Know What Love Is by Foreigner
Bella Penfold - Diamonds Are Forever by Shirley Bassey/Kanye West (presumably she'll do Kanye's rap from Diamonds In Sierra Leone and sing the chorus)
Brendan - Believe by Cher
Dalton - I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston
Danny - Crazy For You by Madonna
Janice - Show Me Love by Robin S
LMA Choir - Proud Mary by Tina Turner
Misunderstood - Close To You by Maxi Priest
Molly Scott - Stop by Spice Girls
Scarlett - Never Had A Dream Come True by S Club 7
Shan - Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word by Elton John
United Vibe - Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus
For some reason for A&A and Gio it says "find out on the live show.
Don't see how a lot of these are guilty pleasures, particularly Tina Turner, Kanye (as I'm pretty sure Bella will just do his version) and Robin S. I suppose it depends who you are but I hate this theme, it sort of perpetuates a "real music!1!1" that it's "inferior" to listen to female pop, ballads or older songs....
Awful choices for some of them too, Danny is going to be terrible as that song is already bad enough, and I have no desire to hear Brendan caterwauling all over one of my all time faves. I can't say I'm too enthused for Dalton (he was so much better last week not trying to sing a big diva song, he's got a good voice but it's far from able to do Whitney justice) and given Anthony was straining singing Julia Michaels, I don't hold out much hope for him trying to sing an 80s power ballad so that's sure to be painful.
I absolutely love the choices for Shan/Molly/Scarlett though, the latter is such an inspired one that could be great for her! Janice and LMA Choir have good fits too so they should be good.
Yeah, most of them aren't really 'guilty pleasures'. Never Had A Dream Come True is an absolute belter though.
A Madonna song actually being performed on X Factor? Is this a first?
I found that Giovanni is actually the lead single of a band called deVience, they're quite alright!
I actually loved that different
Shan is so good!
Oh God! Not sure if I liked Brendan's version of Believe.
That was so bland and boring, poor performance from Brendan
Danny murdered a classic.
What was Molly's song?
Tell me baby why are you murdering Baby One Time?
Molly's vocals were all over the place disappointing after how much I liked her 'Fake Love' performance. I think my favourite this year is Dalton, his vocal ability is so impressive and wonderful to listen to, never resorting to shouting or anything. His 'Life On Mars?' performance is my favourite so far but he did another good job today!
Really not a fan of this guilty pleasures theme though. Barely any of them scream guilty pleasure? Maybe 'Believe' but that was about it so far.
Gio's was insane!
Bella’s singing voice is actually really growing on me she needs to sing more and rap a little less/not as much imo !
Why on earth have they clearly asked Janice to keep harping on about her love of the UK and its people? I am obviously comforted to know that she has thought about me every day for 24 years :/
Feeling like we could be seeing a bottom 3 of United Vibe, Danny and Molly tomorrow night, with Molly likely surviving. Intrigued to see how it goes though!
I absolutely love this country pronounced 4 times really? I mean is it that necessary? By the way, I liked Janice's performance.
My 3 least faves tonight: Danny, Giovanni and LMA Choir.
Tonight's show was pretty much pants apart from LMC Choir (which was surprisingly good), Shan, Shantelle and dare I say it Dalton Harris. Accacia & Aayliah and Bella seem to be borderline for me. Anthony will be safe obviously as Louis loves him.
To be honest any of these could be going this weekend
Molly ??? I was a bit underwhelmed
Misunderstood
Grace
Brendon
Danny Tetley
Gio
Boyband
Bye Bye to:
Gio (very very very bad)
Boyband (totally lost it)
