We haven't had a reshuffle EOY in a couple years, but I couldn't let the opportunity pass without making one

This is counted from the 52 reshuffle weeks based on the OCC charts revealed in 2018 - so that's from the OCC's W/C 05/01/2018 to W/C 28/12/2018, or in other words, the Christmas clearout week to the peak Christmas week. Over those 52 weeks we've had a total of 979 votes (an average of 18.8 per week) and, pleasingly, exactly 100 songs place in the top 10.

Disclaimer: unfortunately, while collating the votes, I found a fair few errors in the first 4-5 months of the year (almost none since). Most are negligible, but a couple positions are different (including one #1, exchanging one of the 'Finesse' weeks for an extra 'Never Be The Same'). I don't really like messing with past data but I feel it would be worse to intentionally maintain errors, so I have amended them in all the data I'm using. If anyone particularly cares I can make a list of what's affected, and of course if anything I post looks dodgy please let me know!

Here are the first 5 songs!

I think the stats are all self-explanatory except maybe "total weekly Points Per Voters": that's the sum of, each week, the song's points divided by the number of voters - to provide an idea of what it'd look like if the number of voters was consistent across the whole year. For example, a song that had 20 points one week from 10 voters (average of 2) and then 25 points from 15 voters (average of 1.7) would have a total of 3.7. Mostly it doesn't make a big difference in rank though. "Average vote" on the other hand provides a significantly different order because it takes out the effect of how many weeks a song charted, though it's hardly an infallible metric as it depends a lot on competition for 1-week-charting songs.

Congrats to Anne-Marie for breaking the mould of a typical Buzzjack hate target? '2002' started low and soon ended up a #10 fixture, managing to rank below a couple hip hop album tracks and even XXXTENTACION. Most of the low-ranking songs can claim 1 or 2 big fans, but '2002' literally never got a single +5 (though it did get a few +4s). It managed to dodge ACR long enough to be one of only 6 songs to spend 12 weeks in the top 10 during 2018, which helps a lot here of course. Dancing on a car in the woods as an 11-year-old to a song that hadn't been recorded yet may be far-fetched, but I choose to live my life in full belief.

And here's one of only 2 songs to spend more than 12 weeks. 'The Greatest Showman' may have been top 5 on the albums chart for a year straight, but the original album's sole top 10 hit 'This Is Me' did not work for the reshuffle voterbase at all, with one of the lowest %s of positive votes (and half those positive votes coming from 2 people alone). It's lucky to not be #100 as half its run landed in the catchup weeks with a low number of voters, and indeed it is #100 by my Points Per Voters measure - though at the same time, I know it has a few very dedicated fans on here so it's also a bit unlucky that they didn't vote much. (It did grow on me eventually too, so maybe it was the same for others?)

#98. Maroon 5 feat. Cardi B - Girls Like You

Another 12-weeker, but we won't be seeing the others for a while. Adding Cardi to a song that had been sitting on their album for 6 months, Maroon 5 managed to turn this into one of the biggest hits of their career, but few voters seemed to share the love. 'Love' possibly in quotation marks because it's hard to imagine this pleasant-but-unremarkable song having a dedicated fan army out there, but it managed to beat a bunch of Latin bangers to become the most viewed YouTube music video of 2018 so what do I know? Some say it's still #1 on YouTube to this day. (It's not, but it's not far off at #3.)

#97. Lil Dicky feat. Chris Brown - Freaky Friday

Lil Dicky's N-word fantasy becoming a big hit is absolutely the worst music moment of 2018 to me and I'm very pleased that it's finished below every other hip hop song *.* It's also the lowest UK #1. Notable though that this managed to get the lowest possible points from 3 voters and the highest possible points from another.

Unlike in Australia where this song was completely omitted from the chart for no reason, 'Taste' managed to slowly climb its way to #5 in the UK, becoming Tyga's highest charter. Its reshuffle run is a bit misleading as those 2 weeks at #6 were when Eminem's 'Kamikaze' had 3 tracks in the top 10 providing no shortage of negative vote magnets; otherwise it was consistently near the bottom. I don't think anyone's particularly surprised. I really like it though.

How bloody annoying that the ONE week I missed was the 7-in-1 bumper edition.

Lol at me appearing at one end of the spectrum in 3 of those bottom 5, and aghast at not being one of This Is Me's biggest haters!

What a 'great' bottom 4! (as in: yay those songs are all awful)

Shame 'Taste' was such a hate magnet too but at least it only finished 25th in the hate chart. Likewise 'This Is Me' suffers here from being in the top 10 for ages, and isn't as hated as its position here suggests. The other three all finished top 10 in the hate chart though.

Oops I stan all of the bottom three haha. TIM is basically let it go part 2 on this site (with both doing dreadfully in any worst/negative votes countdowns but doing fantastically in any solely positive vote countdowns, such as movie song where both Made top 15 out of a pool of like 200 songs 😂)

Spending all 6 of its weeks at #10, this is in fact the only multi-week #10 peaker of 2018: as in, every other #10-placer either reached the top 9 at some point (counting 2017 in one case), or only charted for 1 week. It did come within a few points of 'Thursday' twice though, so it wasn't always miles off. All 6 +5s it got in 2018 were from me, and fun fact: only 4 times in 2018 did someone give +5 to the #10 and -5 to the #1 in the same round, and 3 of those are me with 'ZEZE' and 'Shallow' :') (The other is LewisGT with 'I Love It' and 'In My Mind' once.) My favourite stat though is that its 3 greatest points-givers are the 3 Australian voters *.* The new national anthem.

Savour this moment because once 2018 year-end charts are over, you may never remember this song's existence again. With the instant support you'd expect for an Eminem & Ed Sheeran song, 'River' managed to debut at #2 in the UK and sneak a week at #1, but it's hard to say it truly maintained itself beyond the first few months (https://kworb.net/spotify/track/5UEnHoDYpsxlfzWLZIc7LD.html). That lack of passion is reflected here with sizeable points from only 1 voter, but also less -5s than the previous 6 songs, leaving it set in its middlingly-negative destiny. Eminem's upcoming 3 'Kamikaze' top 10 hits actually all got higher %s of positive votes.

With only the last 4 weeks of its lengthy run, 'Perfect' still manages to be firmly bottom 10, with the lowest % of positive votes and the lowest 'maximum points given' of any song in the top 100. It also has the 2nd lowest average vote (and in a single week, its -3.55 average in the first week of 2018 is the lowest altogether) - and the lowest average weekly standard deviation, so it's not even controversial. In all of its 17 weeks, the only songs it ever placed above were his own 'Happier', and 'Too Good At Goodbyes', and all up its total points would be around -870. I think it got 15 -5s from Dan which might be some sort of record. I was close with 14.

And here's a 3rd Ed Sheeran-involved song in a row Quite impressive for him to manage 4 songs in the bottom 10 without releasing a single new song of his own. 'Thursday's points are tied with 'Perfect' but I'm using the number of +5s as a tiebreaker. I feel well-acquainted with this song's performance from existing in the time I've been reshuffle host and it's repeatedly struggled for positive votes, but nor is it a -5 magnet; just few people like it very much. The only reason it made #7 once was the week of 6ix9ine and double James Arthur.

#91. DJ Khaled feat. Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper & Quavo - No Brainer

This can one-up 'River', as it fell out of almost every country's Spotify top 200 within 4 months. Even as someone who loved 'I'm The One' (and 'Wild Thoughts') I found this disappointingly weak and I imagine most agree, as only 3 voters gave it more positive points than negative.

I can see how the bottom 3 can be polarizing (and Girls Like You got overplayed after a while and never seemed to go away until recently) but in no way should they be worse than Freaky Friday I guess that being a bit of a non #1 along with River didn’t give it enough time for the hate to completely marinate.

It managed to dodge the reshuffle #10 when it had other unpopular songs ('Taste', 'Girls Like You') to compete with, but in its last 2 weeks, the #9 was almost closer in points to #1 than #10. It has a really good bassline.

I was going to refer to this as the 2nd single from the album (thinking of 'Candy Paint' as from the soundtrack it was on), but did you know that it labels itself the 3rd single in the top-right of the cover? I'd never zoomed in enough to notice the text.



Anyway, it's the first reshuffle top 5 peaker to appear; it started solidly, but sank towards the bottom while it enjoyed an extended run in part thanks to the album release helping it dodge ACR. It's the first song with over 40% positive votes though; there was a lot of divide on it. I get how the points work but it really doesn't feel like it should be this low (and, despite me not quite being in its top 3 - it's my favourite of his bar 'rockstar' but it had strong competition - it would be #94 if I deleted myself from the results). He has 3 more songs to come though.

A big jump in points - 'I'll Be There' is in fact closer to #68 than it is to 'Psycho'. That #5 in its final week might look like it finally clicked with everyone and was about to reach new heights, but that was actually just Drake's album release week.

And this is how low 6ix9ine has ranked from just 1 week of charting In most other countries it's 'FEFE' with Nicki Minaj that's his highest charter, but in the UK it's this, the most popular new song the week his 'DUMMY BOY' album dropped, that got him into the top 10. Its -80 points is the lowest for #10 in any week of 2018, its average vote is the lowest (though 'Perfect' managed a worse -3.55 in a single week), and 61% of its total votes being -5s is the highest % (next is an upcoming song with 50%, and then 'Perfect' with 44%).

The 'funny' thing is that, with its steel drum loop and sung chorus, it's probably the most pop-friendly song of his I've heard I think several others are better though, for whatever that's worth.

Those two songs have really put it in perspective for me how much I've turned around on steel drums, 11 years after Soulja Boy made them sound like impending dread (and I quite enjoy that song now too )

Sampling an unreleased 1983 Michael Jackson recording, this was the highest OCC debut the week Drake's 'Scorpion' came out but was quickly usurped by 'In My Feelings' and, by the week it hit ACR, couldn't maintain itself in his top 3 over 'Nonstop' and the older 'Nice For What', and was never seen again as far as the UK top 100 is concerned. On reshuffle, the week 'In My Feelings' entered it placed at #8 behind 'Don't Matter To Me', but pulled ahead the next week and - like his other 2 2018 UK #1s - has managed to outrank 'Don't Matter To Me' despite twice as many weeks to potentially rack up negative points. I'm happy to see it lowest because while I'm a big fan of the 3 #1s (and underrated album highlight 'Summer Games') I've never really liked this; it has a decent atmosphere at least but the sample's presence feels more for the 'spectacle' than musical merit.

Only the 6th lowest UK #1! Providing one of the biggest surprises of the year when it debuted at #1 jumped from #70 to #1 on Spotify in its 2nd day, it did get many low votes as you'd expect, but several consistent positive voters (particularly the 4 names above plus Bré and myself, who all gave it positive points every week) helped keep it afloat. But, honestly, deserving the most credit is our reshuffle icon 'ZEZE': in the 6 weeks they charted together, 'Funky Friday' only got 11 -5s but got 27 -4s, and 25 out of 27 of those -4s were ahead of 'ZEZE'. Still, it did very well manage to a #3 placing one week, even with that being on a super close week where 3 less points would've diminished it to #7. (And in fact, it got a +3 from Jade that week who didn't vote in any of its other weeks, so Jade can claim sole credit )

'King' and 'Shine' were both reshuffle #1s in 2015 (I went to look where they placed on the 2015 EOY and just realised it http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=185494&st=100 ), but their 2nd album's biggest hit could only manage a middling performance, with very limited top scores. Seems fair to me for a song I found disappointingly basic compared to 'Sanctify' (and later 'Palo Santo', my favourite from the album), and I expect 'Sanctify' (and also 'All For You') would've done better here. It's tied with the next 2 songs which both have more +5s, but also a lot more -5s.

The OG 2018 Drake smash is the first to fall, landing lowest in just about every metric I have going - points, +5s, positive %s, average vote, and total PPV. It also has one of the highest average weekly standard deviations (only bested by 2 songs that charted just 1-2 weeks), with 83% of its votes being either +3 or above, or -3 or below. It probably has low voter numbers to thank for making the top 80 ('In My Feelings' and 'Nice For What' got about 35-40 more votes despite charting 1 week less), but it did well to reach #4 and not sink to the bottom, despite a pretty anti-pop structure with its biggest hook ('she said do you love me...') placed at the start of a verse.

It's the first song with at least 50% positive votes (well technically 49.7%), and there's only 1 other before the top 55 (and that isn't a hip hop song, surprisingly). Though not quite as polarised as 'God's Plan', 'In My Feelings' also had 70% of its votes be +3 up or -3 down - 91% in its 3rd week, which holds the highest single-week standard deviation of any song in 2018. This leaves 'Nice For What' as the highest of his big songs, but also still-to-come are his single-weekers 'Emotionless', 'Nonstop' and uncredited 'SICKO MODE'.

We had 'River' at #94, but 'Lucky You' is the first of his 3 'Kamikaze' top 10 hits out - probably just because it charted 1 week longer, as it narrowly has the highest average vote. Though debuting below 'The Ringer' on the OCC chart (possibly only due to tracklist order) 'Lucky You' had by far the best longevity of anything on the album (bar 'Venom' from its movie tie-in), and its success felt like a greater achievement to me than the statistically-bigger 'River' without an Ed Sheeran chorus - or anything much pop-friendly - to fall back on. On reshuffle, it went from a #10 start to being the highest of the 3 in its 2nd week. I found 'The Ringer' a bit better at first but with time this is the clear highlight.

It's the only one that cracked a top 4 peak too - though so did 'rockstar' in 2017, which actually managed a *shock* positive points total, buoyed by full sets of +5s from me, Dobbo, LewisGT and almost darkstar79. 'Better Now' on the other hand can claim neither the same love nor hate (even 'Psycho' got twice as many +5s and -5s). I actually do like this song (there were a bunch of weeks there that I liked every song in the top 10) but I vastly prefer 'rockstar' and 'Psycho'.

Honestly I remember 'Fall' most for being the one with the homophobic slur that led uncredited feature Justin Vernon (of Bon Iver) to speak against it and say they'd 'kill this track'; that didn't eventuate. It has a good beat though and, unlike the other 2, a sung chorus, which might've helped it here.

This thread is making me wish so much that I'd actually entered this every week of the year haha. Definitely going to make sure I do so for 2019. *.* Great effort with all of this!

'Nice For What' and '2002' being my top and bottom top 10 hits of the year sounds more or less spot on anyway though despite the weeks I missed out! And '2002' being dead last overall is very satisfying. There haven't been too many particularly sad losses so far, although the Drake and Posty songs plus 'Funky Friday' and 'Lucky You' all deserved better. I know people don't generally like Post Malone on here but it's a shame nonetheless that even 'Better Now' was solidly in the negatives given it's pretty much a pure pop song and a really good one at that, my favourite song from him (but I've loved all of his hits bar 'Psycho' which was still pretty good although a cut below the rest).

The first of the 8 Christmas songs that made the top 10 in 2018! As the opening track from Bublé's perennially-huge 'Christmas' album, it's always been one of the biggest Christmas songs on Spotify (globally it still has the 3rd most all-time plays behind Mariah and Wham!, though Ariana caught up a lot this year), but it took until 2018 to reach the OCC top 10. Though several long-runners did worse in a single week, its -2.63 average vote beats only 'Perfect' and 'KIKA', and with only 1 vote above +2 it can lay a claim for the least loved song (only 'Perfect' has less). I assume it's unpopular because we're not interested in Bublé's joyless takes on standards, but I also like to believe that it's because we had to vote on a song about the beginning of Christmastime, in the week after Christmas.

Though released in October 2017 and reaching #41 in early 2018, it took an ad-fueled revival and convenient re-playlisting many months later for it to reach the top 10. Even then, its #30 Spotify peak is probably among the lowest for a top 10 hit in the last couple years (its https://kworb.net/spotify/track/6lOWoTqVnAWXchddtTH31W.html is interesting for its timing being unusually unsynchronised between countries). Maybe it would've had more reshuffle success if it had made it when it was fresher? The highest of Eminem's 'Kamikaze' trio, all of which landed in the 70s. Just like the OCC chart, 'The Ringer' went from being the highest one in the 1st week to the lowest in the 2nd, but was kept away from the bottom 2 by 'I Love It' and 'Girls Like You'. 'The Ringer' narrowly has the highest % of positive votes of the 3, though like I said when it landed, 'Lucky You' has the highest average vote. It's surprising to see a song comprised of a 5-minute uninterrupted rap verse not be tanked; maybe his ''''mumble rapper'''' disses were appreciated?

'In My Feelings' should be higher too, but I'm glad 'Nice For What' is Drake's best-performing #1 (hopefully by a considerable margin too!).

From our bumper 6ix9ine/James Arthur/James Arthur week, this Gabrielle Aplin Frankie Goes To Hollywood-covering X Factor winner's single showed that it's still possible for such things to make the OCC top 5, even while peaking at #89 on Spotify. I don't know why James Arthur ended up on it, or why they went back to covers after Rak-Su's 'Dímelo' did pretty well without even having a proper studio version, but I feel like Dalton Harris' part is one of the better cover winner's singles I've heard at least. Insulated from the bottom by its competition, it has 'KIKA' to thank for 4 of its -4s and the other James Arthur song for another 2 (the remaining 2 being ahead of 'Thursday').

And if you saw that week's results, you might remember that the 2 James Arthur tracks were tied, with 'Rewrite The Stars' ranking above because it received more +5s a +5. As I'm using the same tiebreaker here, 'Rewrite The Stars' gets to claim the nicer position for itself, backed up by posting a higher positive % too. Though the original only peaked at #16 in the UK, it actually peaked higher on Spotify worldwide than 'This Is Me' (and still has 99.2% as many total plays) probably due to better playlist support, so it being the most-pushed 'Reimagined' song kind of feels like its 2nd charge to try and make itself the most popular 'The Greatest Showman' song. As far as the UK top 10 is concerned though, it's not going to happen unless its current-week re-entry lasts forever.

Actually Sigala's longest-running UK top 11 hit, a fact I doubt anyone would guess without having followed the charts studiously. For one brief week, it meant he had a #1, #3, #5, #7 and #9 hit (plus an #11 since!) but then it had to go and reach #6, before managing to dodge ACR until its 18th week. Though not reaching the #2 reshuffle peak of 'Came Here For Love', 'Lullaby' did have a good start with 3 +5s its first week, but none of those 3 people voted beyond its 2nd week. Still, its 50.3% of positive votes is the most of any song below the top 55. At the same time, 4.4% of its votes being at either extreme is the lowest among songs that charted more than 6 weeks. Amusingly, its top/bottom voters look a lot like 'In My Feelings' in reverse - 5/6 names were in the opposite sections there.

In a week with the sole change among the top 10 songs being the very even-handed switch from 'No Tears Left To Cry' to 'SAD!', 'SAD!' managed to keep '2002' shut at #10, even claiming more +5s than '2002' ever did. Surprisingly, it's only the 6th-lowest single-weeker.

Managing not to kill his career with his politics, Kanye's first 2018 album 'ye' still got a lot of attention with all 7 tracks performing well enough to make the OCC top 30 if not for the 3-track rule. 'Yikes' was the song that scraped a #10 debut, quite luckily with its #55 sales-only position pulling it ahead of the more-streamed 'All Mine', which ended up 267 sales behind at #11 - but placed ahead every week thereafter, and became the biggest Spotify hit from the album (171m plays compared to 101m for 'Yikes'). In reshuffle, 'Yikes' holds the highest average weekly standard deviation of the 100 songs (though only the 16th-highest in a single week, with the songs ahead having lower weeks to even them out), with 12/17 votes being either +5/+4 or -5/-4. '2002' saved it from #10, but with a difference of only 2 points.

The holy union of deceased artists... except it's a song originally by Lil Peep and iLoveMakonnen (of 'Tuesday' fame) that XXXTENTACION added a verse to after Peep's death, even though Peep reportedly https://noisey.vice.com/en_au/article/xwpdkj/xxxtentacion-lil-peep-falling-down-criticism. (If you like the song but not the XXXTENTACION, know that the original version was released too the following week, titled 'Sunlight On Your Skin'.) Naturally it made enough waves for a top 10 debut, but it didn't hold up half as well as XXXTENTACION's own music has - maybe because of the iffy collab or maybe because it doesn't really sound like either of their music; to me it's more akin to iLoveMakonnen's preceding single 'Love' with Rae Sremmurd (which actually has the lyrics 'falling down' too). 'Falling Down' beat 'Taste' and 'I Love It' to an #8 reshuffle placement, and gives coi and I the dubious achievement of being, on both of XXXTENTACION's top 10 hits, the only +5s. Interestingly nobody gave both of them -5s.

Originally peaking at #24 in 1973, 'Step Into Christmas' reached #11 in 2017 and #10 for the first time in 2018 - which would be Elton's first ever reshuffle appearance, as the http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=95668 was about a month too late for Ironik's 'Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer)'. Though firmly ahead of Bublé's #10, it was mostly agreed as not a highlight among the 8 Christmas songs. I'm not surprised as it's easily the least familiar of them to me, but I imagine if I listened to a UK radio station for a few hours in December that might change fast.

Potentially one of the best pieces of 2018 chart trivia is that this was one of the top 3 debuts from his album, ahead of 'In My Feelings' - which replaced it the next week, giving 'Emotionless' the commendable chart run of 5-out. Not that its 7-32-51-75-112-176-out Spotify run is that much better. It's only memorable to me for prominently sampling (the 12" club mix of) Mariah Carey's effervescent 1991 hit 'Emotions', a great song that you should go listen to instead. Genius also reminds me that it's the song where he acknowledged the existence of his child, but ultimately it's probably being track 4 that's most responsible for it being here. It's the highest of the songs that peaked at #9 on reshuffle ahead of '2002' (following 'SAD!' and 'Yikes'), and remaining for Drake are 'Nice For What' and 'Nonstop' (and 'SICKO MODE').

A lot of interesting chart runs there! Particularly 'Let You Love Me' debuting as low as #6, 'Woman Like Me' debuting at #9 (I remember the initial reactions were subpar but still surprising since it's Little Mix), and 'In My Mind' dropping from #1 to #7! I also didn't realize or completely forgot that 'Lucid Dreams' was a reshuffle #1
