Okay, it may only be June but Greece - one of the most quiet countries last year - are dishing out rumours left, right and centre. Greece's national broadcaster were "devastated" by their first DNQ and have claimed that the person in charge last year will "never have anything to do with choosing the Greek Eurovision entry ever again".
ERT have reportedly already approached Demy, one of the most popular female Greek singers and are also reportedly reaching out to the Greek dream team of Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evaggelinos to write and stage her entry, most recently well known of being involved with Russia's entry this year.
Seems like a match made in heaven and I'm pleasantly surprised Greece are actually going for success despite their financial situation. (9 months later we end up with Argo 2.0... - I did warm to Argo in the end though!)

Denmark need to do the same with whoever keeps putting boybands in their national final!
I compliment Greece to the DNQ as they dont want it to happen again. For some countries and Greece been a great example can give them a kick up the back side in what they send to Eurovision.
I know many people have the same issue with Denmark, while i have liked their entries ( this year included) i can see the points are valid.

Well SOMEONE is needed to get Greece back on track after the past two awful entries so YES!!
Nooooo. I love Helena but I really don't want another Ira and countries turning to former winners/generally successful contestants in desperate times never works out.
It's been reported today that Demy has been internally selected to represent Greece with a national final to choose her song for Kyiv.
And that's been confirmed! All three songs will also be penned by Dimitris Kontopoulos and Fokas Evangelinos (aka the people who wrote the Russian song last year).
Greece pretty much officially BACK IN BUSINESS!
Demy is AMAZING. The only other Greek singer I follow, other than Helena Paparizou.
If you're not familiar:
and her cover of last year's 'If Love Was a Crime'
After a few dull years it looks like Greece are going for it this year. Without hearing the songs i have excitement for them already.
The national final to select Demy's entry is set for 6th March. There won't be any live performances, just the three music videos which Demy is shooting soon in Odessa. Dimitris Kontopoulos ('You Are The Only One' producer) has composed and produced all 3 songs which have been described as 'a radio friendly pop-rock ballad' 'an American style ballad' and 'a song that starts as a ballad then evolves into a dance banger'.
70% of the result will come from televoting and the remaining 30% from the juries, who will be made up of people from the Greek diaspora from all over Europe and not music industry professionals.
Don't really need this one as Adam says all you need to know above, but just so the set is complete! And this is my final one for the 2017 season as I'll be coming back from Sweden when the rest of the finals happen, Adam will be guiding you through them on Friday/Saturday.
One hour in and no songs yet! *.*
It has meant I can watch the soaps and not miss anything
All the songs are average, very disappointed
Utopian Land >
This Is Love rightfully wins:
Melodifestivalen 5th placer teas
This is reminding me of 'Icebreaker' in terms of the clunky transition. I know it is meant to 'build' but I feel her vocals are too soft in the 'banger' of a chrous.
will probably love this next month though lmao
It literally sounds like someone has had a go at making a song but not having an absolute clue on how to do it. I'd expect this in a Moldovan selection at best. I can see Greece missing out again for the second year running.
I found this more instant that You Are The Only One which took until Stockholm to make me properly appreciate it. That said This Is Love doesn't quite reach the anthemic nature it wants to be, but it will certainly be an arena favourite. Fokas and Dimitris have never failed to reach the top 10 so I'm not ruling it out for Demy. I'm pretty sure it is qualifying, especially in a ballad heavy semi-final!
I just hope she puts a bit more vocal power into the chorus when singing it live!
It sounds a mess, it could do a revamp and then it might be quite good. I agree with Scotty actually it feels a bit thrown together which is a shame as there is so much potential locked in it :/
The 'Angels' song was the only one halfway decent.
Terrible selection.
I mean 'This Is Love' is terrible, but I absolutely love it. Proper trashy performance on the cards!
Last minute mini-revamp for Greece, new lyrics in the chorus and they seem to have pressed the "DANCE BANGER" button for the chorus to give it some extra power. Subtle but good work!
I'm glad they changed the lyrics. The 'rain falls from above' line didn't make much sense and then they rhymed 'love' with... 'love'. This is much better.
Oh I really like this! It's a bit budget sounding but I do enjoy the synths. The only jarring bit is the ending, which doesn't fit at all/sounds like it's pasted in from another song altogether.
