The former Pakistan leg spinner Abdul Qadir has died aged 63. He took 236 wickets in 67 test matches.

Former South Africa international and 1995 World Cup winner Chester Williams has died at the age of 49.

Williams played 27 Tests for the Springboks between 1993 and 2000, scoring 14 tries.

The former wing was the only black player in the World Cup-winning team that defeated rivals New Zealand 15-12 in South Africa 24 years ago.

Former Ryder Cup golfer Brian Barnes has died aged 74 from cancer after a short illness.

He was best known for beating Jack Nicklaus twice in a day during the 1975 match against the United States.

Barnes played for Great Britain & Ireland and then Europe in six Ryder Cups between 1969 and 1979 and won 20 professional titles.

Born in Surrey, he represented Scotland in team events and recorded three top-10 finishes at the Open Championship.

Barnes won the Senior British Open in 1995 and became the first man to defend the title the following year.

Boxer Patrick Day has died aged 27 - four days after suffering a brain injury in a fight against Charles Conwell.

The American was put into a coma on Saturday after he was knocked out in the 10th round of his super welterweight bout in Chicago.

Promoter Lou DiBella confirmed Day had died on Wednesday "surrounded by his family, close friends and members of his boxing team".

Belgian Paralympian Marieke Vervoort has ended her own life through euthanasia at the age of 40.

Vervoort, who won gold and silver at the London 2012 Paralympics, and two further medals at Rio 2016, had an incurable degenerative muscle disease.

RIP former England cricket captain Bob Willis aged 70.

The fast bowler took 325 wickets in 90 Tests from 1971 to 1984, claiming a career-best 8-43 to help England to a famous win over Australia at Headingley in the 1981 Ashes.

Bob Willis's contribution to that famous win at Headingly is often overlooked. His eight wickets finished the job that Botham's epic innings had started.

RIP to one of the greats of English cricket.

RIP Bob Willis. That was the best spell of fast bowling I've ever seen.

He was also part of a great double act with Charles Colville on Sky Sports over many years,always voicing his forthright opinions.

Former Aston Villa manager Ron Saunders has died at the age of 87.

Saunders guided Villa to the First Division title in 1981, before departing during their European Cup-winning campaign the following season.

He also won two League Cups during his eight years at Villa Park.

Former Derby County, Oxford United and Portsmouth boss Jim Smith has died at the age of 79.

The well-travelled manager, known throughout football as the 'Bald Eagle', enjoyed a distinguished career with nine clubs across the leagues.

Among his career highlights were a League Cup final appearance with Queens Park Rangers in 1986 and promotion to the Premier League with Derby in 1996.

Featherstone Rovers and England international forward Natalie Harrowell has died, aged 29.

Harrowell, a Hull FC fan, played three games for England and helped Rovers to the inaugural 2017 Women's Super League Grand Final, losing to Bradford.

The Sheffield-born player helped the club to promotion from the third tier of English football in 2003.

Just a few weeks after Martin Peters,we have now lost Hans Tilkowski,the German goalkeeper he scored against in the 1966 World Cup Final. He has died at the age of 84.

Four other people were killed in the helicopter crash. A huge loss in the world of sport. I'm just stunned and saddened to hear about this.
