She seems to have confirmed it: https://instagram.com/p/8wEq3aKVhf/

This would make a WONDERFUL single so I am very happy even if it's not my first choice (Let's Get Lost > Emotion > Warm Blood > this). But on an album as perfect as this, you really can't go wrong whatever is released.

One of the many stunning songs.

I'm pleased with this! It's the best choice as far as I can tell and I kind of knew she'd go with it.

I'm sorry to say that I think this has flop written all over it. It's sad because I really want to see her succeed sad.gif

Everything she could release has flop written all over it. It's Carly Rae Jepsen. No point worrying too much about teh chartz.

Excellent song.

Lovely single choice. A worthy follow up to 'Run Away With Me' (which really should have been a huge top 10 smash!)

She deserves to breakthrough properly with this album, so much!

This is EXCELLENT. It won't do a thing of course but it doesn't matter when it's this good.

Gave the album a go yesterday and this song is very good, a great choice. Prefer it to 'Run Away With Me'.

Wasn't sure about this on first listen a month back but ever since it's thankfully wormed it's way into my head. Yet another infectious pop song from Carly wub.gif looking forward to tomorrow for the video!

What an incredible video! I feel it's deeply personal to her and her music. The fact she feels she has to $l*t herself out or completely lower her identity to get people to listen... it's sort of bears similarities to this era because HOW ARE PEOPLE STILL IGNORING HER? This is the pop album of the year.

I love her & her music too much <3

Agreed. She's extremely underrated. The album is most certainly one of my favourite albums of the year and I don't think too much will come in the way of it either. This era has been perfectly executed in terms of singles choices/videos/styling/her in general. It just annoys me how ignored she is as an artist and that, sadly, although it's still a pop jam and a half, 'Call Me Maybe' will be her career defining moment due to the novelty of it and nobody wanting to take her seriously. sad.gif

She deserved to be as big as Justin Bieber is right now with this album, tbh. (He's managed to turn it all around completely and genuinely since 'Baby'!)

I'm so glad this got a video because the song is just WOW wub.gif

It's sad that she's a little too MOR to become a big popstar. I like what she did, trying to break the mold but it just isn't working for her.
Personally, I think the styling for this era has been all wrong. The Chrissie Hynde-style 'do and quirky fashion sense are more suited to the indie-rock chick she's crying out to be.
It doesn't match the sound of the album. Unfortunately, sex sells and she's not the type that the mainstream media would typically offer a lift to and it's a shame.

That said, I think she'll move into being a sought after pop writer see:Cathy Dennis in her heyday.

This video originally passed me by on first watch, I thought there were some beautiful visuals but not much storyline going on.

Reading around, and on Popjustice forum in particular, it's really hit home as to what this video could actually represent. There is the obvious "not turning into someone she's not" angle, but I think what Bal implies above regarding it symbolising the current state of her career is quite mindblowing and a refreshing self-awareness if it is the hidden meaning behind the video.

The fact it could represent the fact that she knows her career is coming to a stand-still and almost going back to where she perhaps first began in empty pubs, but then still dreaming of having the massive audience that she had a few years ago (which the flashes to all the people dancing represent of course). If there was an intention for Carly to show us this, then that's nothing short of extraordinary and makes this one of the pop moments of the year, a moment ironically not many people will realise.

And even without all of that, the way the song and the video captures such sadness amongst a uptempo pop song is fantastic. And the literal "friend zone" meaning of the song is a refreshing song lyric matter too. I think this is both the strongest video and song of the Emotion era so far!

EDIT: Someone on ATRL summed it up fantastically too:
