It honestly feels like some kind of joke or pisstake to see actual real life politicians and people in reality in this country using words like 'wokeness' without any sense of irony or embarrassment.

Some pretty wild things she's coming out with here although there's a logic underlying some but she isn't putting it together. For example, trying to retain people that have trained in medicine and nursing in the UK to work within the NHS, yes, that is a good idea. But how does she want to go about it? By essentially legally binding people - who have already paid to receive their degrees and put themselves monumentally into debt that they will be paying back to the UK government for decades anyway - to take up jobs in the NHS and be paid whatever the going rate is. How does that help at all other than being punitive? If that is the goal, a better solution would either be for the government to pay for the training in the first place - so they then aren't hobbled by paying back a huge chunk out of their salary each month and so the salary as-is seems to go further - and/or by raising the salaries as they are now, something that hasn't been done properly for years and decades.

For all some of these people talk about the good old days, they seem to handily forget that when things ran better it was because the infrastructure and legal foundation was there to enable it. British nurses used to be higher in number because they didn't used to have to put themselves thousands into debt in order to qualify. NHS recruitment and retention used to be higher because the hours they were required to work weren't as high and the pay was better, proportionally. Fix those and that's going to close the gaps we have now pretty quick, instead of jumping straight to essentially indentured servitude...

Why is this a thread or even news? I'm not watching it as I'm not giving her the oxygen of publicity.

Yes it was a very fawning interview. Tbh it was for the most part pretty standard hard right stuff and she didn't make a complete embarrassment of herself when she's interviewed by a slightly more challenging interviewer

The worst thing she said, albeit unsurprising, was the complete Israel 100% right, conflict all started 10/7, Israel only democratic country in middle east garbage.
