I think this is overlooked sometimes because of the follow-up, which made #4 in 1992 and was a Top 10 hit again in 2008. But this is a brilliant re-working of a prominent Eurythmics and Gwen Guthrie sample IMO. There's even a bit of Queen in there too!

This got to #5 in January 1992 but seems to be have been (mostly) forgotten. I always remember it for its amazing chart run: 22-7-7-7-7-{5}-5-8-17-25-51-66 *.*

Also M Beat “Incredible” doesn't seem to get played anymore, for some reason it always reminds me of that Father Ted episode with the priest who loves listening to jungle music really loud all night!

QUOTE(Jade @ Nov 25 2017, 10:04 PM) *

I imagine some people would presume that 'Never Ever' was their debut. I know I did for a few years blush.gif

(YESSS Babybird! Both of my parents love that song but I don't think I ever would've heard it if they didn't own Now 35, so a good shout)

I actually thought that was their follow up to Never Ever!

This song from N-Trance that I discovered by looking at their chart history, made #11 in February 1996. It was after their cover of Stayin' Alive and I am sure when this came out a lot of dance fans back then were probably hopeful they would stay away from the cheesy more poppy covers but it wasn't to be, with D.I.S.C.O. their next single.

Just what happened to Macy Gray? I remember thinking at the time that she would be a potential classic star with her distinctive vox but it seemed that it wasn't to be... this had a fab chart run though of 10-10-9-8-7-7-7-{6}-9-11-11-15-13-16-15-22-27-38-42-43-55-69->22 - you need to keep in mind that this was 1999 when songs entered high and disappeared 5 weeks later, a steady rise over 8 weeks was simply unheard of at the time.

I would hardly call 'I Try' forgotten, I would guess it still gets played occasionally on radio stations like Heart or Radio 2?

You may be right... I know I haven't heard it for many a year - which is why I thought it was suitable for inclusion as I assumed at the time it would become one of those classics that you hear everywhere. Any HEART RADIO FANZ out there to confirm?

An Ozzy Osbourne feature no less! Plus a bit of Kim Wilde too. Big for a while back in 1992.

As I posted an Enigma thread yesterday, here's a track that is of the same era that I enjoyed at the time but has since disappeared from the face of the earth - you can't even get it on iTunes!

I doubt anyone (apart from me and Colm) remember this stunner, but it actually made the Top 10 in summer 1991.

It makes me feel incredibly nostalgic but I have never heard it on the radio apart from on the UK Top 40 with Mark Goodier obvs.

I never listen to Heart out of choice but I hear I Try fairly frequently whenever Heart is on like in the car or a taxi or a shop or a doctor's waiting room or whatever laugh.gif What a song though, I agree from that song she seemed/seems like someone who'd be a huge vocal legend but nothing more came of her :/

I discovered this recently, went to #7 in March 1995 but it has been overshadowed by another eurodance cover of the 80s song by a certain mad amphibian in 2005.

Also the dancing woman in the video for this has a slight resemblance to Rihanna I think, especially with the quite big forehead! biggrin.gif

I remember that Bomb The Bass track Dr B! It is indeed great, quite unique for its time too - although of course the 90s were far more varied in terms of styles and that's why I'm so fond of them really.

Dina Carroll next... remember when she was massive for one album?

OMG half of these were classic chart-toppers in my charts, are they REALLY half-forgotten already?!

The 90's seems quite recent to me, so the thought that they've been forgotten from hits radio already is depressing!

I won't list them all or suggest any, my 90's charts are partially online on the retro forum - with more to come when I get more "me time" in the new year (when I reduce my work hours to 2-3 days a week)....
