BuzzJack Music Forum _ Little Mix _ Woman Like Me (feat. Nicki Minaj) • Lead Single

Posted by: Joe. Sep 5 2018, 02:44 PM

They posted this on YouTube.

I'm almost certain the way they've hashtagged it, that 'Wait On It' could be the single title? Surprise release this Friday? Or a week of teasing for next Friday?

Posted by: Theo. Sep 5 2018, 03:08 PM

So ready to hear this! I'd be happy with them releasing it this Friday to soundtrack my holiday from Monday heart.gif

Posted by: Joe. Sep 5 2018, 03:11 PM

I'm assuming it'll be next Friday, as that's roughly the same amount of teasing as Shout Out. Maybe a preview during X Factor to help increase ratings this weekend?

Posted by: Liаm Sep 5 2018, 03:14 PM

Omg YES, saw this and thought the same that they must be back *.*

Posted by: Defaze Sep 5 2018, 03:21 PM

Perched for this! Love the title (if it is indeed 'Wait On It').

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 5 2018, 03:27 PM

SO FRICKING EXCITED! I think this is gonna be an uptempo, sassy and fierce pop club banger. Thinking 'Touch' meets 'Move' *.*

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 5 2018, 10:23 PM

Bring it on! *.*

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 5 2018, 10:25 PM

Ahh I'm so excited for this ❤️❤️❤️

Posted by: Juliano Sep 6 2018, 06:15 AM

It's time they came back with a smash! Don't think I CAN Wait On It.

Posted by: Jade Sep 7 2018, 04:53 PM

Can't wait for this! Little Mix's previous two leads are actually amongst my least favourite of their singles oops but 'Move' is one of their best so c'mon girls x

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 10 2018, 10:04 AM

FOUR MORE DAYS.

SO excited. I wonder if we'll get a teaser of some sort at some point?

Posted by: caseclosed Sep 10 2018, 11:20 AM

Wait but is it this Friday for sure?

Nothing's been said

Posted by: Juliano Sep 10 2018, 11:27 PM

This is all based on the assumption that their previous 2 leads were teased a week before release. My fingers are crossed, but I'm pessimistic.

Posted by: Joe. Sep 11 2018, 07:32 AM

They'd have said something by now if it were this week. It'll be next Friday I'm sure.

Posted by: ThePensmith Sep 11 2018, 04:25 PM

I think with them performing at Radio 1 Teen Awards next month we can be assured of the single arriving before then. I do wonder where they're gonna launch it though because the live shows for X Factor (which I assume they will perform it on) won't start until end of October at the latest, and I'm sure they're after a maximum impact first week.

Posted by: Joe. Sep 11 2018, 07:40 PM

It’ll be out weeks before the Teen Awards, I think we all pretty much know that.

Remember when we thought we'd get it no later than the second week of September?

It most likely will be released next week.
Take That and Little Mix releasing the same week will add huge excitement to the singles chart.

I suppose a top 37 entry from Take That could spice things up a bit.

Posted by: pippa Sep 18 2018, 06:34 PM

I didnt mean in a way that Take That would challenge for the bigger hit.
I love both groups and am excited for new music by both.
Having both coming together makes it an exciting week for me.
I would be happy if Take That can manage a top 40 place in the chart.

Posted by: Court Sep 18 2018, 10:25 PM

So apparently the X Factor got rid of bootcamp this year. Does that mean the live shows will start earlier than late October? Because, if so, I think they could be debuting on the first week of lives. This weekend is the last auditions and the 1 weekend of Six Chair Challenges and 1 weekend of Judges Houses would put the first live show on October 13th.

Also, at this point, I think its likely that "Wait On It" is not the title, but rather them telling us to wait.

Posted by: pippa Sep 19 2018, 02:14 PM

Little Mix will get at least performance slot on the show if not 2.
Olly Murs and Little Mix are the only surviving X Factor illuminees.

This is surprisingly true tongue.gif One Direction split and only one of them has actually had a Top 40 single this year. James Arthur is kind of still relevant but he's hardly throwing out hit after hit. Olly Murs has safely landed in a spot where I don't think an album of his will ever miss out on #1 (obviously depending greatly on who else releases at the same time) and he will have some single success too, even if it has been fleeting gradually

Little Mix haven't even peaked yet imo, Glory Days was HUGE but I reckon they'll be even bigger now

Posted by: Cqmerqn Sep 19 2018, 04:10 PM

I think Little Mix have peaked with this era, but we will see.

Posted by: SKepner Sep 20 2018, 05:01 AM

How can they peak with an era that’s not even started or know what their music or success is going to be?

I definitely think the last two campaigns have been massive so I think something along the lines of Get Weird would be my guess for success.

Posted by: shindymindy Sep 20 2018, 09:39 AM

I feel like this new era will be even bigger than the last 2

I think they meant with the era that just finished.

Posted by: Dane Sep 20 2018, 10:09 AM

I genuinely think this upcoming era will be the biggest one, their fan base has only got bigger & their music only gets better.

Posted by: KWEEN_DEE Sep 20 2018, 12:35 PM

Thing is LM are depending on rent a rapper. A format that works but people will tire of

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 20 2018, 01:11 PM

For post album releases. They are yet to do that for a single that happens before the album.

They're not the only ones to do this. Most pop artists are doing the same and it's working.

Exactly. Olly Murs has got Snoop Dogg on his new single, and the biggest of his career to date ('Troublemaker') had Flo Rida on it!

As long as they have a big performance with huge TV exposure lined up somewhere for when this gets released, I don't have any doubt that they'll be challenging for their fifth number one.

No, we aren't. We're in between eras.

Are we getting this next week?

Posted by: Cqmerqn Sep 24 2018, 01:30 PM

Well in that case I think they’ve peaked with Glory Days

Posted by: Joe. Sep 24 2018, 04:26 PM

There’s nothing to suggest they’ve peaked yet at all. They could easily end up selling even more of this album in week 1. They picked up a load of extra fans as the last era went on.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 26 2018, 12:20 PM

If the single is strong they could easily open wuth bigger album sales than before .they are the biggest girl and around right now and it puts them in great position.

Now magazine are reporting that they've filmed a music video with Nicki Minaj ohmy.gif

https://www.celebsnow.co.uk/celebrity-news/exclusive-little-mix-nicki-minaj-filming-music-video-together-epic-pop-princess-collaboration-758774

I'm not sure how I feel about them working together after the multiple controversies that Nicki's been involved in this year but... if it gets them a break stateside I won't be so mad.

Posted by: UltraReputation Sep 27 2018, 03:34 PM

Ugh.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 27 2018, 05:29 PM

I'm here for it as I'm sure the song will be pure FIRE. However, I'm the same as Theo really in regards to Nicki.

Like Joe though (we've spoken in a message), I hope they have a solo version ready for Heart and R2 etc.. coz I feel like they'd get blanket support from the get go and they would not touch a Nicki release.

Posted by: BigMixer Sep 27 2018, 06:29 PM

ugh not Nazi Garbaj sick2.gif

they said a while ago she's their dream collab but I never thought I'd actually happen ...

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 27 2018, 06:47 PM

Tbf it's a collab most pop fans wanted until Nicki opened her mouth this year x

Im still excited as I'm sure the song itself will be amaze.

Posted by: SKepner Sep 27 2018, 07:18 PM

Correct me if I am wrong didn't one of the girls say they wanted to work with Nicki? If they have managed to secure her on a track, controversy or no controversy, it would be HUGE for them and would show they've entered that top tier of artistry imo.

Nicki has followed the girls on Instagram. I can’t imagine why.

Posted by: Dexton Sep 29 2018, 12:02 PM

Bit of a shame it sounds like they're starting off their era with a collab when they really wouldn't have to, but I suppose a Nicki collab will greatly help them in the US which could actually start a successful era for them over there laugh.gif

Posted by: Dexton Sep 29 2018, 12:14 PM

“Wait on it” is just them telling us to wait, ‘Woman Like Me’ is the actual single name with an official announcement coming very soon according to twitter (I reckon single release next Friday)

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Sep 29 2018, 02:08 PM

Nicki Minaj does feel like a bit of a choice collaboration right now in terms of potentially tarnishing their reputation, but I still sometimes quite like her in the musical sense.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 29 2018, 02:59 PM

At this rate it'll be more of an event when they release a single without a feature... kink.gif

Excited to hear this though *.*

Posted by: Calum Sep 29 2018, 04:14 PM

Really looking forward to this!

Whether or not Nicki's actions in the past while have been extremely questionable, she's still a big name to grab for a single, and her features on pop singles are more often than not great, so I can't see this being anything other than a big hit.

Posted by: JosephAvery Sep 29 2018, 05:58 PM

Can't we swap Nicki for Cardi

(srsly though her guest verses are usually fire so I'm sure it'll be great)

Posted by: Jüpiter Sep 29 2018, 06:28 PM

The salt in this thread :') excited to hear it, what sound it brings for them. Nick will probably have to tame down her lyrics a bit unless LM are reaching to move from their young audience to a more adult demo!

Really good if they got to actually work together in person though for the girls, like her or loathe her Nicki is a BIG name in the industry with great connections to people like Wayne, Drake, Eminem and Beyonce. A positive connection and backing there could do wonders for them in the US in terms of any kind of boost or a solo career for one of the girls.

Posted by: Andrew. Sep 29 2018, 06:33 PM

I found the last era very hit and miss so not sure what to expect, Nicki hasn’t been as strong music-wise lately but still has some good feature verses so no real feelings on that laugh.gif I can actually see her claiming she has a #1 album by being featured on LM’s 😂

Posted by: Cody Sabathy Sep 29 2018, 08:41 PM

This sounds potentially good on paper. It’s just a shame that it happened during these circumstances...

Nicki has been much stronger in features than with her lead singles (her contributions with BTS and Jason DeRulo in particular stand out from this year), so I hold hope that she can deliver with this.

Posted by: Rossco Sep 29 2018, 09:30 PM

Another feature??? 🙄🙄🙄

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 29 2018, 09:44 PM

Yes "another feature"...

Who honestly cares? Why do you care? laugh.gif

Can’t wait 🤤
Have always thought they’d work well with Nicki

Posted by: Court Sep 29 2018, 10:33 PM

I’m not really that fussed about another feature. 1) because the girls have wanted this for a very long time and 2) their past features were all added on after the fact so we still have the original version to listen to. It’ll be interesting this time to have the song originally released with the rap already in place

Posted by: Dexton Sep 30 2018, 04:54 AM

I’m expecting a mix between Ari’s Side To Side and LM’s Power

Posted by: Joe. Sep 30 2018, 08:26 AM

I do wish it didn’t have Nicki on it too but a shame long as it’s a bop and a hit I’m here for it.

QUOTE(Jonjo @ Sep 29 2018, 10:44 PM) *
Yes "another feature"...

Honestly, I'd really like to see them release another single that is just them.

I mean...

Little Mix feat. Jason Derulo
Little Mix feat. Sean Paul
Little Mix feat. Charlie Puth (Not a single, but nevertheless it got a brief push in its own right)
Little Mix feat. Kid Ink (Remix) (US Single / Replacement version on Glory Days re-issue)
Little Mix feat. Machine Gun Kelly
Little Mix feat. Stormzy
CNCO & Little Mix
Cheat Codes & Little Mix
Little Mix feat. Nicki Minaj

... is reaching overkill levels. Their only single that has no associations with a collaborator since 2016 is Shout Out to My Ex!

So yeah, I care to an extent and I can see why other people are raising eyebrows about it at this point. I love/like all of the above songs, don't get me wrong, but it's just a feeling I have that I would really love to see them do another single where the focus is purely on them again. At this stage I feel like that would be more special than yet another collaboration, which is quite funny. Hopefully that will come after this lead single.

Having said all of that, something that is obviously different about "Little Mix feat. Nicki Minaj" is that it'll be their first female collaboration since Missy Elliott, so at least that's a more interesting choice than going with another male artist.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 30 2018, 09:41 AM

But every single one of those were post-album releases and "rent-a-rappers" (bar Jason Derulo & Charlie Puth) which is unfortunately what is needed for a lot of pop acts nowadays to get a hit post album release/something to freshen up the campaigns etc.. It's just a formula that works. We still have the solo versions available for those who don't want those features.

I find collaborations interesting, personally. I enjoy seeing how their pop works with features.

Jason & Nicki (and Charlie if you want to include that laugh.gif) will be their only features on singles that weren't "tacked on" just for a release. But the other singles, as I said will have the versions without the rappers so it shouldn't really matter imo. laugh.gif

Ughhhh sorry. *takes off stan glasses*

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 30 2018, 10:04 AM

I mean obviously there's the original versions that exist for some of those songs, but those aren't the versions that "see the light of day" in the sense of being singles / receiving music videos, so the main exposure comes in the form of the collaborations. It doesn't really matter about the context of their existence, nevertheless it's been a near constant stream of "Little Mix feat." moments and I think that's reached overkill to the extent that them collaborating with other artists isn't a particularly eventful occurrence any more.

It's totally fine that there's fans who appreciate their collabs and would probably like to see many more occur, but still, I think it's just as valid that there's fans who'd like to see more singles that are simply just "Little Mix" again. I honestly believe they could push post-album singles without a collaborator and have a success with them if they were to actually try it, I don't think it's as essential for a hit as is claimed. I feel like they deserve some more credit in terms of their own popularity and abilities at this stage.

So yeah... release something by yourselves challenge, do that challenge - my hopes for this era. x

P.S. Nicki had better SERVE on this. I disagree with the consensus that her recent features are particularly strong.

Posted by: Joe. Sep 30 2018, 11:08 AM

I think more than anything the feature thing represents the charts / mainstream music in 2018. The chart is in general much more feature heavy than ever before!

Posted by: Calum Sep 30 2018, 11:30 AM

I agree with Jonjo in that all of their features have been post-album, riding on the success of what's already come from the campaign, so it's not like they've relied on feature artists to 'do them a favour' in terms of getting a hit.

We haven't had a feature as a lead single, and it seems like it's a collaboration that they, personally, wanted to do. I don't think they're relying on Nicki's name to make an impact on the charts because they've proven they can do it solo already with the likes of Black Magic, Shout Out to My Ex and Touch.

Posted by: Joe. Sep 30 2018, 11:42 AM

Yeah, their top 3 sellers actually are all solo songs.

Posted by: *Tim Sep 30 2018, 02:37 PM

How very Spice Girls - Goodbye

Posted by: ThePensmith Sep 30 2018, 07:33 PM

The artwork looks like a hybrid of 'Forever' era Spice Girls and 'Out of Control' era Girls Aloud. Where's all the colour and the logo? They can't just have 'Little Mix' written in any old shit font on the front.

Still, am hoping they deliver a full on pop bop as always. Even with that Minaj thing on board.

Posted by: Joe. Sep 30 2018, 07:56 PM

I like the artwork! I don’t love it but I’m glad the childish logo is gone and they’re going for something a bit more mature, an image re-do. As they need to move away from the Disneyfied image.

Posted by: Martyn Sep 30 2018, 08:16 PM

The logo is very when The Saturdays tried to change it for Wordshaker.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 30 2018, 08:31 PM

I'd prefer the artwork if the background was one colour, but otherwise I quite like it. It was about time they changed up the logo.

Like lewistgreen, it also reminded me of Spice Girls - Goodbye!

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 30 2018, 09:12 PM

Its very inline with Forever album by Spice Girls, i hope that where the similarities end though.

Posted by: Theo. Sep 30 2018, 09:32 PM

This is so good! They performed it at a recording of Michael McIntyre's Big Show that I went to tonight! It reminds me of "Can't Remember to Forget You" mixed with "Side to Side". The pre-chorus is where it's at - the chorus is another choppy-ish one like "Only You" was. Nicki's rap (what I heard of it) was strong and felt much more like a feature - she had at least 40/50 seconds solo.

I've no idea when it will be shown on TV but they mentioned after the performance that the album is out 'now' so I guess it'll be late November/early December.

I can't wait to hear the final version, shame it's almost 2 weeks away though!

Because it’s all they ever do these days. The only decent feature has been no more sad songs. The rest have added nothing in my opinion. It just screams that they have no faith in their music without a rent a rapper tagged on and it’s very frustrating because their music is brilliant without it. It’s wearing thin now.

It was really good! They had a huge multi level set and started in the centre performing to camera before going into the routine with backing dancers. I only really remember this cool move that they did sitting on the edge of the stage with lots of legography.

They performed it twice because the audience was sat down during the first take so depending on the angles, they might edit bits from both performances into the episode.

Omg what!? I'm extremely hyped if this is true

Echoing the disappointment that they're releasing another feature but it could potentially be better than the last several collabs!

This. The songs were perfectly good on their own. At least this one starts with the collab instead of adding them in afterwards and making the song less good.

Posted by: Juliano Oct 1 2018, 06:39 AM

Yay! It's released on my birthday, so I know what the first song will be at midnight! F*** happy birthday!

Hair & Power were genuinely improved by their remixes though, the rest not so much but I can’t imagine listening to either of those now without Sean Paul/Stormzy

Agree about Hair but I genuinely never listen to the Stormzy version of Power.

Including Kid Ink for Touch is really stretching it though (I forgot it existed and probably only heard it once).

I agree they collaborate too often, but getting Nicki Minaj to collaborate with them is a big deal. I really dislike her but it's always been a dream for the girls to work with her, so I don't mind that much tbh. tongue.gif

I really wish it was Ariana though sad.gif

Posted by: Andrew. Oct 1 2018, 01:25 PM

I agree with others about the collaborations. With Get Weird and Glory Days they've really gone from big to HUGE so why do they feel the need to do this to help them up the charts? It bothers me more with NMSS, Power etc though and if Nicki's feature is better than what she's been doing lately I doubt I'll care laugh.gif

I really don't think they're adding these features in a post-album campaign to help them up the charts, though? Although there've been a fair few features to come out of the last two eras, I seriously doubt they're thinking to themselves 'Machine Gun Kelly is definitely the person to get us our next #1' - or the same with the likes of CNCO who aren't exactly the biggest name in the UK. Their lead/second singles have been dominated by solo songs, so it's probably fair to assume they know they can achieve greatness in the charts, with or without a feature.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 1 2018, 02:57 PM

It adds something to a single release having a feature and a slightly different mix, it feels more like an event and like we get new music through the era almost. Rather than just knowing x or y is going to be the single 2 months before and all we have is "omg it went up 2 places to #29 on iTunes!1!1", I know it's not much just adding a verse or some little production flourishes but it at least re-invigorates a single a bit for me and I love having those Fridays where we have something new to listen to and get excited about.

I really don't see why it's an issue at all as long as we get good music, which we undoubtedly are. If you don't like the retooled collab versions, the originals are still there.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Oct 1 2018, 04:52 PM

It's because we live in unfortunate times where having these features makes it appear on the featured artist's Spotify page too.

Jess' demo to this BOPS.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia Oct 1 2018, 07:25 PM

Just heard the jess demo to this on Twitter,
Sounds really good! Looking forward to hearing Little Mix version.

Posted by: Court Oct 2 2018, 04:12 AM

I've been thinking about their first week numbers. Unless something drastic happens with sales or someone huge releases out of the blue on the 5th or the 12th, realistically they'd need about 60k sales to debut at #1 and about 35-40k to be top 5. Only You got off to a rough start but I'm sure their lead single will get better Spotify placement and pretty much better everything that release did. I wish they had the video ready to go for those extra streams but that obviously won't happen.

Do lyric videos count towards the chart if they're uploaded by the official channel or does it have to be the official video?

Posted by: Joe. Oct 2 2018, 07:44 AM

Yeah, as long as they have SOME sort of promo for the first week, be it a video or a performance somewhere - and they get instant Hot Hits and a good new music Friday placing on Spotify as well as instant R1 and Capital support (which I think it will) it could be an easy #1 for them.

Posted by: Jack Oct 2 2018, 09:07 AM

It seems to be getting more hype than 'Only You' ever did, which was fairly muted upon release, there wasn't really a buzz around that release at all.

QUOTE(Seinfeld @ Oct 1 2018, 02:20 PM) *
Including Kid Ink for Touch is really stretching it though (I forgot it existed and probably only heard it once).

I would have agreed if it had remained as a bonus release on the side, but it ended up being upgraded to second track on the Platinum Edition album, thus demoting the original version off the physical and pushing the original way down the track list on digital platforms. I think that's enough to consider the Kid Ink version as being a prominently presented version of the track. I never meant to imply that it (or Oops) was on the same level as the other songs listed though (that's why I added notes alongside them!)

QUOTE(Liаm @ Oct 1 2018, 03:57 PM) *
If you don't like the retooled collab versions, the originals are still there.

It's not about that for me because I don't actually dislike any of the collaborations, musically speaking. Which may make some of you think, "well what's the problem then?". It's literally about the quantity of them in quick succession, and the fact that it's these versions that are presented in music videos/radio play - so collaborations have been a near constant focus for quite a while now, and I'm finding it to be gimmick that is wearing a little thin at this point.

The desire for another Little Mix single that is solely them is meant to be a positive request out of love for them as a very talented group! It's not meant to come across as the moaning of a hater (if anyone feels that this is the case).

Anyway, as an aside from all of that - I'd definitely regard Nicki Minaj as being their most major collaboration to date, so good on them for achieving this career goal. Hopefully Nicki brings it, because a lot of her features have been very phoned in recently. If this could be a "Side to Side" (in terms of the song feeling like both main artist & feature artist truly belong on it) then I'm all for her involvement. Fingers crossed.

Posted by: Joe. Oct 2 2018, 10:31 AM

I agree and hope we get a single that's just them next. But I do think it's a problem across the board not just with Little Mix, it seems like all mainstream pop acts these days have 50% (or more) of their songs having features.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 2 2018, 01:43 PM

Just heard the demo - it's good. It's going to be great done by LM.

This I can get on board with. wub.gif I'm already bopping to the Jess Glynne demo after only hearing it twice (that pre-chorus is an earworm for sure), even if her vocals are slightly offputing. Plus Nicki's rap in Swish Swish is incredible and probably the highlight of the track. Roll on the 12th.

Doesn't particularly excite me! Sounds like any other distorted vocal drop/chorus that's very popular nowadays. I reckon they've got another hit on their hands but doesn't particularly sound progressive for the Little Mix 'brand'.

They’ll be a Capital FM on Friday morning (there’s a contest to meet them that they’re advertising) so I guess they’ll prerecord a Breakfast Show interview on Radio 1? Or they could give the people what they want and stop by there in the afternoon for a Live Lounge.

I wish they had a televised performance scheduled during debut week but most lineups have already been announced and they’re not on them.

On first listen I was underwhelmed but I think I had just listened to the demo too many times so it threw me off. Its definitely different than their other leads (not as in your face, anthemic, etc) but I love it. The Nicki feature was unnecessary but I bop regardless.

Also, they're on the top of several New Music Friday playlists and they've got a vertical video coming tomorrow on Spotify so hopefully they'll get that immediate Hot Hits add as well. I really want all the cards to come together to give them the best chance at #1 as possible, and Spotify is crucial (especially since they haven't booked any first week performances)

This is a checklist I made earlier in the week of things they need for any hope of going to to #1

- [ ] Insta Radio 1 B list
- [ ] Insta Radio 2 A list (check off both if A)
- [x] Straight to H/S on Capital (confirmed S!)
- [ ] New music Friday top 3 on Spotify and cover
- [ ] Heart playlist
- [x] Radio 2 playlist first week
- [ ] Hot Hits UK by end of Friday
- [x] Spotify Hot Hits UK vertical video (they’ve said this is for This is Little Mix but I assume it’ll go on HHUK too)
- [ ] iTunes banner
- [x] Some kind of promo first week (Good morning Britain and radio tour)

This is really quite good, EASILY superior to the supremely grating SOTME.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 11 2018, 06:32 PM

I like it

We asked for mature mix - we’ve got it.

Posted by: tomwright123 Oct 11 2018, 06:56 PM

I actually really like the song, and it’s one of those that has already grown on me after a few listens. It is definitely a more mature side to the girls that we’ve been pining for for a while now. So hopefully it could generate even more interest in them as a group. I don’t want to be too presumptious, but I think this could be No.1 #5

Posted by: Liаm Oct 11 2018, 07:36 PM

B O P

It is very Side To Side but it's a great lead, it's a bit more grown up but it's not forcing it.

Posted by: The Feline Lorde Oct 11 2018, 07:38 PM

Instantly their best lead single for me - it's so hit ready!

Posted by: Defaze Oct 11 2018, 07:38 PM

I really like it! I'd say it's probably less instant than SOTME, but it definitely seems like it'll be a grower (I love SOTME, but it became a little grating when it was everywhere).

Nicki's rap is lowkey kind of dreadful though. Ending her verse with the curry line was a choice.

Posted by: Leonagwen Oct 11 2018, 07:56 PM

I am very underwhelmed with this. It is a carbon copy of the Jess Glynn version. I was expecting better.

Posted by: Defaze Oct 11 2018, 08:06 PM

The prechorus to this is ludicrously catchy. It's been stuck in my head ever since that snippet they posted.

Posted by: BigMixer Oct 11 2018, 09:36 PM

For some reason I was expecting to be disappointed, but I'm really digging it music.gif

Posted by: TS0301 Oct 11 2018, 10:06 PM

This is good but a little... predictable. I could tell it was a Steve Mac track without even checking the credits laugh.gif

Probably a 7/10 for me. Side To Side 2.0 indeed, it doesn’t even feel as if its tried to separate itself from it! But Side To Side is a bop so its fine.

2nd on NMF, bloody Jess Glynne first laugh.gif They have the cover though!

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 11 2018, 11:05 PM

I LOVE it. Unsurprisingly.

Much more mature and feels like actual growth as artists. It's so Spotify ready, isn't it? I smell a huge hit!

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 11 2018, 11:08 PM

LOVE THIS I’m bopping so hard it gets better with every listen imo . Jesy and Leigh in particular sound great on this as well . I like Nicki’s verse it ain’t her best ever but it’s serviceable and does the job .

Posted by: Liаm Oct 11 2018, 11:10 PM

It isn't much different from the Jess Glynne version that's true, but it didn't really need to be. The girls have better vocals that aren't strained af and they inject their sass and attitude, plus a decent rap from Nicki (agreed, FAR from her best but fine for a pop song like this) and made it a great little track, that's all it needed tbh.

Posted by: RobBob Oct 11 2018, 11:16 PM

I've avoided demos and teasers like the plague! On first listen, really good. Their songs are so often in your face and instant that I feel *slightly* disappointed but yeah, I can tell it's a song I'm gonna really love, they usually just hit me round the head with an undeniable banger.

The playlist video is up now and I love it. Also its on Hot Hits UK as well right in the middle of the playlist. Hopefully both the video and the song will be moved up later in the week but at least they're both there.

Also they're 6 on the main NMF playlist which is higher than I expected.

Jade (I think it’s her) sounds FAB on the pre chorusy bits. All very Side to side which is fine as I love it, but my only critique is you can really see the Jess influence in the songwriting!

Its very Dangerous Woman. Quite like it, a switch up for them a lot though!

Not mad on Nicki's part though. Thta beat was crying out for a faster flow like on Side To Side or Majesty. It's alright but, nothing special from her unfortunately. Maybe will fit with the video.

It’s just exactly what you’d expect from a Little Mix/Nicki collaboration and has been done a million times before.
Not mad on Nicki’s verse either, hate the way the woman like me chant comes in straight after her part, it sounds really messy.

I’m sure I’ll be going back on my word in no time but right now it’s probably their weakest lead for me

Very underwhelmed on first listen, I admire them for switching their sound up but to me it doesn't feel like a Little Mix single.

Jade (I think it’s her) sounds FAB on the pre chorusy bits. All very Side to side which is fine as I love it, but my only critique is you can really see the Jess influence in the songwriting!

The only thing I'd recognise Jess' songwriting for is the usual cliches about how "you're everything to me"/"you made me who I am"/"I'd be nothing in life without you inspiring me" etc.

Posted by: blacksquare Oct 12 2018, 09:08 AM

Very disappointing... I really hoped they were going to switch it up and just go for it with this campaign. It's been done before and done better.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 12 2018, 09:14 AM

To me the verses sound more Beyoncé than Jess! Reminds me of Flawless!

Posted by: Cremey Oct 12 2018, 09:16 AM

Yeah this definitely feels like a bit of a step back.

‘Kissing my mouth’ seems to crop up in every Ed Sheeran penned track. Nauseating.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 12 2018, 09:27 AM

One of the things I love about Little Mix is their ability to adapt to certain songs and make it feel like they were specifically written for them.

I genuinely forget this is an Ed/Glynne/Mac written song when listening to it, due to LM putting their sass, attitude and fierce spin on it.

So can people stop reminding me please? Thanks biggrin.gif kink.gif

P.s. I think this is the biggest grower of all their songs. It's gettingnbetter with each listen for me. wub.gif

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 12 2018, 09:52 AM

Also I'm confident in single 2.

Wings < DNA
Move > Little Me
Black Magic < Love Me Like You
Shout Out To My Ex < Touch

The 'Salute' era being the exception.. buttt had they chosen more wisely and gone for something other than 'Little Me', like 'Salute' as #2 then it'd have kept up tradition! laugh.gif

A lot of people picking up on the 'Side To Side' similarity, I mean it's not as if SOTME was a reductive version of 'Ugly Heart' or anything.

Good lead on UK iTunes now:

1
Little Mix - Woman Like Me (feat. Nicki Minaj)

Glad it's already got the sales #1 on lock for this week, hopefully it manages a decent Spotify debut tomorrow to be in with a shot of official #1.

Completely agree, I wouldn’t say this was a step back (‘Get Weird’ coming from Salute was their biggest one imo) it’s just a bad song laugh.gif I’ve always found them quite hit and miss and I always enjoy their second singles more so I’m not surprised in a way.

Number 7.

It would be nice to see Nicki Minaj getting her first number one in the UK too, I do think Nicki has helped this track hugely in terms of hype because 'Only You' did nowhere near as good as this despite it being the first Little Mix track in a while, infact have they confirmed if 'Only You' will be on the album or not? Technically this would be single two then!

Yeah that’s true actually. For me it’s not a step back, just a step down in quality.
For the biggest girl band in the world I just expected something a bit more different or distinctive.

I’m sure the Nicki feature is helping it a fair bit in the US but they’re much bigger than she is over here, this is the clear lead rather than Only You and has much more hype as their first proper single since the last era.

This all feels very reminiscent of the Ugly Heart comparisons that plagued SOTME's release week, albeit less 'rip off' comments this time around. I really don't think WLM/STS sound particularly similar beyond the instrumental and the fact they both feature Nicki.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 12 2018, 06:16 PM

Side to Side had a similar riff/Nicki verse but the melody and tempo is totally different, it mainly just has a similar "vibe" sonically.

Posted by: Chez VampireBat Oct 12 2018, 06:42 PM

Eh, Ariana did it better. I wouldn't have been able to tell this was Little Mix if I heard it without knowing who it was, nor a band at all for that matter. I suppose you could argue that's not entirely a bad thing, but it feels like it's been done before and it's missing something that distinguishes it as them. Won't harm them at all commercially, but it's disappointingly formulaic. I've long accepted they're not really appealing to me anymore, but I still hold out some hope for another Love Me Like You moment soon x

I’ve just listened to Black Magic and Shout Out To My Ex. I really feel the opening to the song is boring in comparison and doesn’t hook me in as instantly as those two as a lead.

See most of the fan base / pop fans have been very vocal about while loving those songs wanting Little Mix to move on from the big in your face Disney-esque sound they’re known for with Black Magic, Shout Out To My Ex, Wings etc. I think this a really good step forward to something a bit more mature. And I think it’s still very obviously ‘them’ too. I don’t get the lack of indentity comments at all.

I'm not necessarily on about them moving on from the Disney-esque sound, I'm on about them having a stomping opening to hook people. Look at Black Magic, I remember how exciting that opening was and how hooked I was to listen to it. I heard the opening to this and I didn't quite get the same sense of excitement, even with Nicki's name attached to the track. It feels limp in comparison.

Agreed, when you hear the Jess Glynne demo and this as I said they do put their attitude and stamp on it. It's not as standout as Black Magic, it doesn't have that undeniable huge chorus, but it does feel very them. I suppose it is a bit more safe, perhaps looking for a US hit, but I still really like it and I do think it's a good first step to a more mature sound.

Possibly if they get Nicki Minaj on the show too but the X factor shows really haven’t had much of an impact this year even when contestants are performing them! Remember the days we used to get excited about the iTunes boost our fav songs would get when being performed!

Posted by: JosephAvery Oct 14 2018, 11:21 AM

X Factor still had notable boosts last year for the guest performers, I don't think there's any reason to assume it won't be the same this year. Look at Stormzy's Blinded By Your Grace for example, X Factor really helped that become a smash!

Posted by: ZaraRuinMyLife Oct 15 2018, 12:17 PM

Only You >>>>

In all honesty, I'm not sure what to expect with the overall performance, it could go either way but it all depends on when they drop the video / perform on the X Factor, I originally thought it would debut in the top three this week but I'm expecting a debut of around #5-8 now which is still a decent debut but it's a bit disappointing considering their huge lead on iTunes on Friday, of course though they could still come top five and we will have a better idea once the midweeks drop.

I still really really like this, I wouldn’t call it a rip off of anything. 'Only You' is so good but it was only a single to keep their name out there a little bit and give radio something to wet their appetites a bit.

This is much more them I think. It's not like 'Move' has an obvious, big chorus.

Also, I'm really not worried about their performance atm. What playlists have they had at the weekend? Any big ones/well positioned ones? (Barring Hot Hits) Friday night - Sunday morning people just want to hear the bangers they're familiar with for "pre drinks"/before they get ready for a night out (or in 'The Shallow' case, they've been to watch a huge film)

They'll be back in Spotify top 10 soon enough and will start gaining on iTunes again, I'm quite sure of it.

She confirmed it via a very shady capital interview (she was nice but you can tell she doesn't like other artists using her songs) that she wrote the song but didn't feel right for the album, so technically it is indeed a Jess Glynne reject.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 15 2018, 02:56 PM

It actually seems like it was taken from her against her will and the "it didn't fit the album" is media training. She helped Steve Mac write it and recorded but the record label ended up selling it to Little Mix. She said it's a weird feeling because she was planning on having it as one of her main singles. She seemed a bit annoyed about it.

Posted by: ZaraRuinMyLife Oct 15 2018, 02:58 PM

This is really beginning to free fall on iTunes now, and I’m genuinely surprised. But what I’ve heard from people (non mixers) is that the song is less discernible as a LM song, and just isn’t as in your face. So hopefully it will be a climber as it grows on people

Posted by: Court Oct 16 2018, 04:54 PM

A song thats been out for 4 (almost 5) days thats at #4 at iTunes isn't free falling.

Posted by: Defaze Oct 16 2018, 05:18 PM

It's a bit disappointing after the runaway success of SOTME, but I'm sure it'll be fine in the long run. A part of me does wonder why they didn't hold off a week and recycle SOTME's release strategy, with the XF performance on the Sunday and the MV dropping mid-week. It would have been an easy #1 for them.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 16 2018, 05:32 PM

It is a tad disappointing, but I still would not call it free falling. It really just does need some promo and a video to click with GP. Like I said before it’s the first time ever they’ve released a lead with 0 promo. They really should try and at least get the video out ASAP though!

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 16 2018, 05:35 PM

Their performances and videos always have a huge boost though. The girls bring the songs to life. I agree with court, it's not "free falling" or "falling at a comical rate" the general public need to get used to it. The stans have it now, we just have to wait for the public to become more familiar with it. It's doing really well. Any other group would LOVE to have this success at this point in their careers. Y'all really need to stop panicking and start worrying if the video and performances have little effect.

5-9-11-11 for it's first 4 days on Spotify is strong. Especially as they weren't too high on the main playlists yet..

I haaateee the buzzword use of free-fall or even worse "falling at a comical rate" on here, free fall should only really be used for stuff like Christmas songs that just bomb right down after the day because obv people aren't buying them now. I know that sounds really pedantic but it bothers me laugh.gif It's hardly free falling for falling a few positions because the initial hype wears off and now Spotify etc needs to grow.

I still really really like this, I wouldn’t call it a rip off of anything. I just find it doesn’t really go anywhere, I love the pre-chorus but the actual “woman like me” repeat feels like it should followed by a classic big Little Mix pop chorus or even something in the style of Hair. I’ve been playing it hoping I’d fall in love but it’s not happening sad.gif

Honestly this is me too. I like it, but I don't *love* it yet and it's not growing like I hoped it would. I prefer Only You too oops

I'm actually quite impressed with its Spotify performance, especially off the back of Only You's disastrous first week, but I did expect more from iTunes. I think even Reggaeton Lento stayed at #1 longer. I agree that it's far too early to write it off though; I imagine their team will do everything in their power to turn this into a big hit, especially given that it's the only single leading the album.

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 16 2018, 06:24 PM

iTunes is almost irrelevant now so I'm not worried about that haha. I just hope it manages to remain stable on Spotify and can climb with promo/video release.

Posted by: Court Oct 16 2018, 06:53 PM

Just put on Today’s Top Hits at #6. Hopefully this can help a bit in the UK and can push them back into the Global Top 50.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 16 2018, 06:54 PM

Another huge disadvantage the song has is that it’s, apart from Shallow, the only full priced song in the top 10. Shallow has good airplay and constant promo, so it’d be good if Syco discounted this on Friday.

Anyone heard the Radio 1 edit of this? It cuts Nicki's rap it half and goes straight into "I MADE A FEW MISTAKES" rather than "Woman like me, woman like me..." beforehand.

It seems to have stablised on iTunes/Spotify/Apple Music somewhat now. It just needs the video/a performance/59p discount to give it a bit of a push.

If they do a Live Lounge, I can see it being a Live Lounge special given they aren't part of the live lounge month and haven't done one since 2015.

Also, this had a massive jump to #56 on Spotify Global and is new in at #132 on US Spotify,.

Yeah, I heard it today - I don't know what they're playing at with both this and Sigala's "Just Got Paid" (which cut out Meghan's entire verse). If this is their way of playing more music, I'd rather they didn't mellow.gif

It's also been moved up to Radio 2's A List from next Monday.

They had a really big update actually, in the UK, these were the increases;

LM - 24.2k
Rita - 14k
zeze - 7k
shallow 3k
Promises - 12k

It's in the global playlist now too so might climb again tomorrow.

It remains at #7 on UK Spotify, but is up to its peak of #30 on Global Spotify.

in the UK it had a good day comparatively though.

Yesterday’s Spotify increases:
Electricity: -20k
Promises: -14.1k
Let You Love Me: -5k
ZeZe 2.8k
Shallow 4.9k
Funky Friday 7.1k
Woman Like Me 8.1k

So it's increasing faster than those around it. It'll take a dip over the weekend I assume though.

A little disappointing but still a strong debut! I imagine it'll climb with the video release/potential XF performance.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 20 2018, 01:54 PM

They really need to get the video out, not only because it'll give them a boost on iTunes and probably spotify too, like all their videos usually do, but views are now included in the chart, and not having a video harmed them in week one, take a look at this;

CALVIN HARRIS & SAM SMITH 495,175
DAVE FT FREDO 105,582
MARSHMELLO FT BASTILLE 300,630
LADY GAGA & BRADLEY COOPER 101,933
LITTLE MIX FT NICKI MINAJ 42,551
RITA ORA 128,624
KANYE WEST & LIL PUMP 264,203
DYNORO & GIGI D'AGOSTINO 265,455
SILK CITY FT DUA LIPA 177,527
JESS GLYNNE 232,179

These are the video chart views that were converted into chart sales. Judging by their first few weeks of views in the UK, they'd be doing around (probably a bit more than) what George Ezra did this week (the most viewed in the top 40) which was 1,220,810, given when their last videos were released they were the most viewed in the UK for the first couple of weeks.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 21 2018, 01:58 PM

I think the stand up to cancer performance will have a similar impact to which Alan Carr usually did. I can see it going to number one on iTunes again following X Factor and I agree if it’s reduced to 59p then it could well end up going to number one! I’m just hoping it’s an eventful video and would be great if they brought Nicki to perform it with them! Imagine the exposure for all parties involved!

If it is another Hair/Shout Out To My Ex of them just prancing around then I am NOT here for it.

I thought 'Hair' was pretty good! Surely it does have a bit of narrative to it? The video plays on the message of the lyrics.

I do agree with your sentiment though. Something like 'Touch' is the one they need to avoid; infamous for borrowing the cheap set from Fleur East's 'Sax' and bum-sledging around on the floor.

Whenever I see it I just see it as a bunch of girls getting together to toast their exes all the while getting drunk with takeaway food in a bedroom fiddling with hair accessory tools! It is far from their best imo. Power is pretty non narrative but the message of the song comes through fantastically with each individual set up so wouldn't object to something similar for this.

If you say 'Hair' has no storyline, what is NMSS storyline? Surely there's more of a story in 'Hair'? laugh.gif

There was a bit more of substance and a maturer setting in my opinion. Hair felt quite immature for a visual. The video for NMSS feels like the next step after SOMTE with arriving in the car, the acoustic intro, the girls dancing with the guys in the bar, the pool game, dartboard and the rodeo feel a bit more fitting to the song of no more sad songs to party and forget your ex lover..

EDIT: I think as well NMSS feels a bit more thought through for a video; Hair the editing as well didn't help with Sean Paul either whereas MGK isn't so badly edited in. That said, I hope Nicki is seamlessly in the video and isn't an awful edit job sad.gif

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 25 2018, 08:34 PM

I don’t think videos need a storyline, as long as they are slick and and well produced. Like, Touch with different colouring/ production/outfits but the same performance could have been their best video.

I’d love them to serve something like this:

Simple, but very effective.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 25 2018, 08:48 PM

Agreed, it's Little Mix not like Lady Gaga or anything, a fun video that's well done is fine for a song like this.

Posted by: Theo. Oct 25 2018, 11:13 PM

I love the concept but I think overall they could have made it less obvious that they were standing in front of a green screen. Nicki is a hot mess but so is her rap - I'm just glad she was actually in it.

Damn - amazing!

And the Nicki part works really well.

AMAZING VIDEO.

LOOOOVE IT.

My only (minor) niggle is that yet again, I wish we saw more of the choreography parts. The chairography in particular *.* loved the dancing on top of the bus too!

Another vibrant, personality fueled video. And EVERY. SINGLE. LOOK. ON ALL OF THEM IS INCREDIBLE.

Posted by: RobBob Oct 25 2018, 11:14 PM

One of their best videos ever, just what it needed. Makes the track feel more fun and high energy than I've felt with it before, very cleverly done. Looks expensive yet throws in the much needed doses of humour that the girls always bring to make them what makes Little Mix such a special four piece.

Now 59p on itunes, Video out and x factor performance.
Surely they have a shot at #1 next week?!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 25 2018, 11:46 PM

That was the most I’ve enjoyed the song itself so far watching it with the video.
Nickis part just ruins it though, some of the lyrics she does are just awful and don’t go with the song at all. Like the curry line she does in this and side to side too absolutely atrocious all her features have very similar lyrics talking about her body, making sure she drops her name in, saying bitches etc it’s all samey, she’s really not needed on the track at all for me and it’s unlikey she’ll perform it live with them for the UK promo too,
If they were so desperate to get Nicki she’d fit in on a song like Down and Dirty far better.

New peak this week seems likely though top 3 seems certain.

Posted by: MrLoverboy Oct 25 2018, 11:54 PM

I might be too optimistic but I don't think there any chance of them not going #1 with a video, X-Factor AND discount. We'll see throughout the week though.

This was my thoughts too! Particularly the comment of how big budget it looks, like it feels they've touched heights that British girl groups don't usually, yet it still feels quite grounded thanks to the humour and their personalities. Still not crazy over the song itself but the video elevates it and I have to say it does work as a lead single, regardless of my feelings of the song.

The majority of YouTube views will be converted to chart sales at a 600:1 ratio. Any users watching the video via YouTube Premium or any other premium streaming service will have the views converted to chart sales at a ratio of 100:1 - the same as if they were listening to the audio.

So for example if all of the existing 12 million views came from non-premium viewers in the UK, they've gained an additional 20,000 chart sales for this week's chart.

Posted by: BrookeOlivia Oct 28 2018, 01:44 PM

Thank you for explaining Theo,
So basically by the end of the week the video views will add a large % to the overall sales for them this week.

Posted by: MrLoverboy Oct 28 2018, 09:43 PM

Is it better than any of their X-Factor performances in recent years? No. Is it still great? Yes. They just had a lot of stage to work this time so they didn't do a lot of choreo. I would have liked to see better outfits though - they sort of already did what they did today last year for Power/RL.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 28 2018, 09:55 PM

Rita got a bigger boost than them and overtook them iTunes despite performing afterwards. Strictly gets double the viewers these days I guess.

It was a perfectly serviceable if unspectacular performance from them. I was expecting much worse based on all the hysteria online. This single campaign in general has been an absolute slog to get through. It just seems like it's been relentless negativity ever since the single's premiere. Hell, even the video seemed to garner less praise than say, Power's, when it's by far and away their best MV yet. Roll on the album/single 2.

Posted by: SGrey Oct 29 2018, 07:23 AM

Apart from the zoom out their dancing in Nicki’s part was really good. Was it an Oops into Touch moment? No, but I don’t think it’s their worse. Idk if it’s watching on a phone on YouTube but it did feel like synced in places. Was not a fan of the white beginning with the random stool - once that bit was over it definitely picked up.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 29 2018, 07:45 AM

‘horrendous’ is such a reach. For most other UK girl groups it would be one of their better performances.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 29 2018, 08:05 AM

Agreed, it's not my absolute favourite and I felt disappointed/deflated but it's just because they're 99% of the time so on it and imo one of the best live acts around who always smash it, so them just being ok is definitely disappointing. A bit of a microcosm for the song in general, it's really good but not incredible or one of their absolute best so I guess it can easily feel like a bit of a disappointing lead. I'm really liking it but not going back to it as much as I did with any of the other leads with really grabbed me and held my attention, it's just a solid bop and we're not used to not having a huge pop song as the lead.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn Oct 29 2018, 08:52 AM

I totally cringed when they awkwardly mimed along to Nicki's rap. It wasn't a great performance considering what they're capable of.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 29 2018, 09:18 AM

I still don't see the issue with the dance, break, I really like the one they do during Sean Paul's rap on Hair, too. I think it was a perfectly polished performance.

Anyway, new peak of #3 on Apple Music and back up to #2 on iTunes.

They should climb to top 3 this Friday at least, which is a good outcome. If they'd done X Factor/video release during release week I imagine it would have been another huge #1 for them.

Posted by: tomwright123 Oct 29 2018, 10:55 AM

A nice big boost on iTunes update, I’m still optimistic for the number 1 this week! Hopefully good converted sales from
YouTube will help

Posted by: SweetButJonjo👻 Oct 29 2018, 11:03 AM

I don't see the issue with the dance break either. But I don't know if that's coz the comments on here got me expecting much less.

I've seen it for a 2nd time and I loved it just as much. Disappointed with the lip syncing ofc, butttt I don't care too much if there's a performance (plus I'm a Britney stan so it'd be hypocritical of me to judge them on one mimed performance laugh.gif)

I feel like it's so much better than their DNA XF performance and only just behind their other XF performances. I'd probably say it was better than the 'Oops' half of the 'Oops'/'Touch' part too.

Edit: nice to see them get big updates on iTunes eventually and back ahead of Rita.

I'm also gonna be happy if this hits a peak of #2. The girls don't have a #2 yet, do they?

I don't see the issue with the dance break either. But I don't know if that's coz the comments on here got me expecting much less.

I've seen it for a 2nd time and I loved it just as much. Disappointed with the lip syncing ofc, butttt I don't care too much if there's a performance (plus I'm a Britney stan so it'd be hypocritical of me to judge them on one mimed performance laugh.gif)

I feel like it's so much better than their DNA XF performance and only just behind their other XF performances. I'd probably say it was better than the 'Oops' half of the 'Oops'/'Touch' part too.

Nope they’ve never had a number 2, the only Top 5 position they’ve never attained

If they'd done X Factor/video release during release week I imagine it would have been another huge #1 for them.

Hm. Based on only that week, sure. But overall? Nope. I'd rather have a very strong top 3 hit than a weak #1.

A nice big boost on iTunes update, I’m still optimistic for the number 1 this week! Hopefully good converted sales from
YouTube will help

I can't see it being #1 now given the tepid iTunes repsonse, but top 3 would be a pretty good showing given how polarizing the single has been in general.

Kworb has them at #1 on Youtube for both Friday and Saturday. They had 570k views on Friday and 630k on Saturday. That’s about 300k over Gaga on both days.

Yeah, that's I expect what we'll get. I'm not sure if I can see this being a huge album seller like Shout Out was though, even if I mildly prefer it.

Where do we see the UK Youtube charts?

I can't see it having that big an effect, Gaga is way ahead on sales and has overtook them on Spotify too. I'm not sure I even want it to be #1 if it's a massive fluke. laugh.gif

Well since Woman Like Me is charting, it shows up on their artist page (for every country where they’re in the Top 20). Once you click on it, it shows you the whole Top 20 for that country and how many streams each song got (also the date because it’s usually a couple days behind).
Or you can click the Youtube heading and then hit countries right below that. It’ll show you what video is #1 in each country and if you click on that song it takes you to the weekly chart and you can just click “daily”

It’s not a “massive fluke” if they go head to head all week and come out on top. Their definitely the underdog right now but I’m not totally ruling it out yet seeing as they could swap with Gaga on Spotify again tomorrow. We just don’t know.

Posted by: tomwright123 Oct 29 2018, 12:50 PM

I do think it’s going to be close. We all know that sales really don’t count for that much anymore, and the girls were out steaming Gaga for most of the week until today, and that could change again tomorrow. YouTube sales should be really high. It’s nice to see a chart battle tbh

Side note: New peak of 29 on global Spotify

They're 3 in the mids. They're 3k behind Gaga at #1 so won't catch her. Might overtake Calvin though with any luck, as they're very close behind. It doesn't look like the video streams had a huge effect. Probably because most of them were a 1:600 ratio.

Surely if they manage to outstream Gaga for the rest of the week it’s possible?

Not really, not when there's a 3k difference.

Is streaming missing as per usual?

Only for yesterday.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 29 2018, 02:11 PM

They’re quite a bit higher then Gaga on Apple Music.

I think they have a chance but it will be really close.

Posted by: Court Oct 29 2018, 02:13 PM

How are they still behind Promises? They’ve been ahead of them on iTunes since Friday afternoon. On Spotify they were ahead on Friday but down on Saturday. On Youtube they blew them out of the water both days. Is it Apple Music?

Honestly it won't even be that close, Shallow is higher than Little Mix on both iTunes and Spotify right now. Even if Little Mix caught up in the next few days it's too late.

X Factor did them soooo dirty having them on the first 5 minutes.

#1 on Hot Hits now, really hope it can make it to #2 this week.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 29 2018, 02:38 PM

Remember that they’ve increased on iTunes by about 10% since yesterday. I’m still not sure.

Posted by: caseclosed Oct 29 2018, 03:19 PM

Still closing in on Shallow on Itunes.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 29 2018, 03:22 PM

Almost 80% now

Posted by: ZaraRuinMyLife Oct 29 2018, 03:55 PM

If they manage to climb to #1 on iTunes by tomorrow I think they will still manage #1 especially with Youtube views and I'm sure #1 on Hot Hits will provide it with a huge boost on Spotify, wouldn't shock me if it was #1 on Spotify come Wednesday.

Posted by: Joey Lee Curtis Oct 29 2018, 04:09 PM

I can't see them getting much higher on iTunes but I agree I wouldn't be surprised with a new peak on Spotify tomorrow

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Oct 29 2018, 05:03 PM

Hopefully they can get their first number 2 hit if they miss number 1.

Posted by: caseclosed Oct 29 2018, 05:05 PM

Do the views on the X Factor live count?

Posted by: Court Oct 29 2018, 05:21 PM

The #1 seems unlikely but their ahead of Promises on almost, if not all metrics so I’m sure they can pass him and atleast be #2.

Posted by: shindymindy Oct 29 2018, 11:33 PM

Have you seen the Cardi video??? She just exposed Nicki (and LM I guess) saying she was sent WLM first and she turned it down as she was doing too much pop already.
She played the song on her instagram video - get that promo I suppose!

That video "proves" nothing lol? Their label probs sent it out to loads of rappers to see who'd bite first.

But either way... promo YASSS! *.*

Posted by: troylovesmusic Oct 30 2018, 12:07 AM

Yeah tbh it proves nothing we don’t know it was the intended original version. The girls/mangement probably reached out to both of them at the same time I reckon and Nicki happened to say yes (They probably genuinely wanted Nicki more as well as they always have said they wanted to collab with Nicki !

Posted by: RobBob Oct 30 2018, 01:37 AM

LMAO YASSS GET THAT PROMO.

Not Jade liking Nicki's tweets and wedging herself into the beef, yaaaaasss. P R O M O.

Sorry I misquoted it's actually "Btch Jade from Little Mix said KNOTTTTTT on my watch"

Nicki is the hottest mess around rn and I LOVE HER.

She singlehandedly got them more promo in the IS than her label could. Idk if it's good promo though as the barbs are on warpath as well :')
