Top 100 for the 29th May 2021
Pete's Chart Commentary For the first time since my chart began, no songs from Eurovision did enough to take the top spot, although that doesn't stop a bunch of them from invading the Top 40. The highest, Hooverphonic's 'The Wrong Place', becomes their highest-charting song in my chart, beating 'Romantic' which got to #9 in 2018. James Newman does considerably better here than in the actual contest, entering at #6, and a simmilar story for Jeangu Macrooy at #13. The only non-Eurovision song to enter my Top 40 this week comes from Vance Joy with his comeback single 'Missing Piece', although quite a few enter lower down, including a couple of tracks from the most recent edition of BJSC. 1 [1] Allday - Void (4-1-1-2-1-1-) 2 [2] Schiller x Alphaville - Summer in Berlin (5-3-1-1-1-2-2-3-2-2-) 3 [NE] Hooverphonic - The Wrong Place (3-) 4 [NE] Dađi Freyr - 10 Years (4-) 5 [3] CoCo and the Butterfields - Ignite (40-43-44-46-51-54-50-55-47-7-2-2-2-3-3-4-3-5-) 6 [NE] James Newman - Embers (6-) 7 [6] Ten Tonnes - Everything You Got (14-9-6-7-6-7-) 8 [NE] The Roop - Discotheque (8-) 9 [4] Land of Color - Show Me What It Means (1-4-9-) 10 [5] The Snuts - Glasgow (3-3-4-4-5-5-10-) 11 [8] NEEDTOBREATHE - Into The Mystery (14-8-11-) 12 [NE] Eden Alene - Set Me Free (12-) 13 [NE] Jeangu Macrooy - Birth Of a New Age (13-) 14 [7] Ben Howard - Sorry Kid (13-9-7-5-6-7-14-) 15 [10] Therapie TAXI - Eté 90 (12-10-15-) 16 [NE] Manizha - Russian Woman (16-) 17 [24] Amy Shark - Baby Steps (24-17-) 18 [NE] VICTORIA - growing up is getting old (18-) 19 [9] Stephen Stanley - Oasis (17-9-8-9-19-) 20 [11] Purple Disco Machine - Fireworks (ft. Late replies:
Great to see both Lukas Graham and Twenty One Pilots entering Another Lukas Graham fan Glad you like both - thanks SSP! Hey Pete! Fireworks still slaying I'm ready for this to dive out your chart now Look At The Sky lovely! See You Again is good. I have removed that one from my playlist now but it was enjoyable when I was listening to it Believers is okay but I've heard better from both of them! Nice chart! Well it has fallen this week but only thanks to Eurovision, I'm still loving it so don't expect it to fall anytime soon. Thanks James! Hi! Lukas Graham's new song is so good! I might be putting it next two weeks. Also, great to see We Are The People in the top 40 too! Boy From Manchester & Believers are solid songs. Don't know if they are strong enough to be in my chart, but I'll definitely put these tracks in my monthly EDM/Electronic music compilation! Glad you're a fan of all these, all brilliant songs that could well make their way back up the chart after the Eurovision madness dies down. Thanks! ooh hopefully Porter can scrape a top 40 place next week! nice to see Martin Garrix make it here too although it's yet to grow on me enough. Shy Away is one of the better songs I've heard from TOP also. Sadly Eurovision has stopped that from happening Glad you're a fan of Shy Away as well and hope Garrix grows on you - thanks Dan! Glad that Martin Garrix made it into your top 40! Shy Away is a great addition in the top 100 this week too. Glad you're a fan of both - thanks coi! |

Hi Pete, yay for Eurovision! Hooverphonic topped my charts with Romantic, but don;t chart this time - it was still a good record, but I havent enough chart space so my reasoning is: If I don;t buy it I don;t chart it....
dadi Freyr & The Roop I bought though, James has already been and gone from charts, Elene is fab, Victoria too. Destiny's good, and I almost bought & charted Tusse, but he got edged out, just a bit too polished and predictable (plus it should have been The Mamas again!). Lower down nice to see Babs Pravi, Madame Monsiuer, Black Mamba, Go-A, Stefania and esp Riva Taylor entering. Good stuff! |

Hey Pete!
Embers entering at a respectable #6. Not bad. I loved the song for what it was but I don't think the performance on Euro ison was really all that good if I'm honest. It was definitely not deserving of nil pwah though. I'm sorta kinda hoping that Fireworks doesn't recover from this Shun is actually decent. I never caught the actual contest because I was working but I did see the results! Nice chart!! |

Hi, Pete!
We Are The People is climbing a little bit, great to see that! Lukas Graham, ABDA, and Alan Walker are dropping a lot A lot of Eurovision songs here. Haven't checked and put any of them, but will decide it on the next 2 weeks |

I wish I had enough money to buy 10/20 songs a month I do wonder whether I would have charted The Wrong Place if it hadn't been in Eurovision, I guess we'll see how it holds up. Thanks John! Eurovision takeover as expected then, great to see Dadi Freyr and The Roop in the top 10 as they were amongst my faves this year. James Newman had a decent effort and certainly didn't deserve nil points, though I won't be charting him.

Hi Pete!
Nice to see a Eurovision takeover from you! All songs that debuted in your chart that were Eurovision songs are great! And the debut for "Si Te Vas" is fantastic too! Great chart! |
