19. Love Me Do (1962) / Please Please Me 4/18 votes The next song to depart in this survivor is The Beatles' debut single 'Love Me Do'. It originally peaked at #17 in the U.K. but was later re-promoted in 1982, so its eventual peak became #4. However, it was a #1 single in the U.S.! This occurred a whole two years after it was originally released in the U.K. though. The song features on the group's first studio album 'Please Please Me', where it includes session drummer Andy White and Ringo merely on tambourine. Things were still being smoothed out following Pete Best's recent departure from The Beatles. The composition of 'Love Me Do' can be traced back to the late 1950s, where a young Paul McCartney had started to write it while truant from school. Lennon later contributed his own lyrics. He also played the famous harmonica parts of the song. It's a pretty simple and repetitive love song, as a lot of their early compositions often were. It's always interesting to compare this debut single to their later work as the progression really shines through. 19. Love Me Do | 4/18 votes 20. Yellow Submarine | 5/20 votes 21. Eight Days A Week | 5/17 votes 22. From Me To You | 4/21 votes (original vote) / 10/16 votes (tie-break round) 23. Get Back | 5/17 votes 24. The Long And Winding Road | 4/20 votes 25. She Loves You | 6/21 votes 26. Lady Madonna | 6/21 votes 27. The Ballad Of John And Yoko | 7/25 votes Please vote for your least favourite single from the 18 above! |

'Love Me Do' is cute, I definitely have a soft spot for that one. It's mental how they went from something like that to 'I Am The Walrus' in 5 years though
Went for 'We Can Work It Out' again! |

Love Me Do would have been my next choice so no problem with that leaving.

Pleased enough that 'Love Me Do' made the top 20 I guess. Never realised until recently that it got #1 so far into their US career / so long after its original release

I've gone for We Can Work It Out also this time. I do really like it but it isn't as essential as most of the others left.

I voted 'Help'. It's the one on the list I would less likely to listen to.

everything left is great bar one song - the overrated Come Together. So I'm piling early in on that one as I can't bear to vote for anything else while that is still on the list.....
