Thematically? One's about asking your partner to forgive your lies. The other's asking your partner not to lie to you when you ask if they're still in love with you. That isn't a thematic similarity unless 'love problems' counts as a theme, in which case well done, a good quarter of pop's the same. It's the difference between an adultery plot and a divorce plot.
Tonally they couldn't be any further apart, so I literally don't even know where to start with that, other than that you really need to learn the difference between minor keys and major keys. And the lyric's 'you can tell me if I'm getting warm' - i.e. 'am I right that you're falling out of love with me?'. So nonsensical!!!!!!111!! Honestly, it's like teaching bloody NURSERY. (And yeah, there were a lot of things done wrong with the release of Big Hoops, but 'dated' wasn't exactly one of them - big bass and a drum and bass middle eight were never really identifying characteristics for a particular music era that would make you go 'this is SO [x]'.) |

Very much the case for Gaga as well! But yet there is no issue with Gwen because everyone on here is like 'hey Gwen is back I'll love the song just because it's Gwen' whereas with the likes of Gaga she will lauded with negativity. Welcome to the pop world, this song isn't going to go anywhere, the video adds null hype to it, radio aren't going to jump back on board with Gwen after 7 years with dated generica like this. If this song is very lucky it'll do an 'Applause' AT BEST. When you're a pop girl, unoriginal lead singles like this are what usually tend to break a career and not make it as proved by many of the fallen pop girls, I can't believe how blind some of you are not recognize what a big mistake this is Gaga created her own lukewarm responses to Applause with her own overhype. All that POP EMERGENCY bollocks coupled with going on and on about art and revolutionising music before releasing same old same old averageness. I may have enjoyed the song more if not for that. It was very much a 'was that it?' moment and deservedly so. Maybe her personality puts me off her music and maybe that's wrong but it should mean nothing to you what my opinion is. Gwen did not overhype this in the slightest and I've always been a fan of hers. The single is not the second coming of music but she never said it would be. It's a decent tune and I like it. I really think you need to step out for a bit and stop trying to ram Gaga into this discussion. Many other female artists are comparable to Gwen but have yet to be mentioned. I hate using this word but you're coming across bitter because everyone has stopped adoring your fave. |

For me, 'Baby Don't Lie' is an uncomplicated and very catchy pop song, which is great for the here and now. Will I still be replaying this song well into 2015? Perhaps not, but that applies to the vast majority of songs that I like at the moment. I tend to like most songs in the moment and then they start to become boring and I want something fresh.
'Baby Don't Lie' isn't going to revolutionise pop music, it's not trying to and it doesn't need to either. It seems like so many people have these sort of expectations for every new song that comes our way, and anything less is dismissed as crap/basic. Can't something just be "good"? I don't know why people can't just like what they like, without it being questioned by others. If people don't like this song in particular then that's completely ok, but why get so worked up about others liking it - why does that matter? There's plenty of songs people go crazy for which I don't get, but I don't get annoyed about it. It's just a total waste of energy to argue against people who like/love something that you don't. That energy is best put into focusing on the music that you do like. I don't really see what this new Gwen song had to do with Gaga in the first place - she didn't even come to my mind when I first heard the song? I'm a pretty big fan of Gaga - I really liked Applause and I wasn't even let down by ARTPOP, but that's totally independent to the fact that I like 'Baby Don't Lie' too! I always feel a bit " " when people try to make me/others feel bad for liking a song (even if it's inadvertently), because it sort of sucks a bit of the personal enjoyment out of it - like, someone is raining on your parade. I know that Gaga fans have experienced this sort of treatment over the past few years too, therefore I would have thought this would mean that Gaga fans would be less likely to do this to other artists/fans. Hmm! By the way this post isn't specifically aimed at Kath/Michael or whoever else, this post can be seen as a general view about the internet as a whole. There's been a lot of this occurring on forums/social media in recent years and I often find it quite baffling that people get into such a frenzy about what others like/dislike. Sorry for the tl;dr x |

Oh no. That will mean they've shelved it.
(Not that it was going to do anything anyway) |

I hate to sound like a broken record but like I said when this premiered, she really BLEW her chances of any form of a comeback with this dated generica, and 'Spark the Fire' dug her grave even deeper.
Also like I previously said, she cba at all and this all seemed forced for the sake of putting something out to co-inside with The Voice. I'm afraid this era of hers will go down even worse than the likes of 'Lotus' and 'The Spirit Indestructible' |

It's because it didn't get any sort of release here, so it's not available.
I do revisit this every now and then. It's a pleasant little number. |
