Hope you don't mind me starting this, Liam!
The Six Chair Challenge started filming today (just a day after the first stage of boot camp results according to Simon! ) and will continue with 2 sessions tomorrow and one on Monday.
(spoiler tagging the rest in case anyone clicks onto this accidentally)
The first session today which I attended was the girls. Simon is the mentor for the girls, and took the following through:
- a girl named Caitlyn who sang Andra Day's Rise Up, she was incredible and I'd expect a big boost for the song when it aired!
- Gifty, who auditioned last year, she sang Gnarls Barkley's Crazy and blew the roof off
- Emily Middlemass, who got to judges' houses two years ago, she sang a stripped back version of Girls Just Want To Have Fun and was really pretty great, got an excellent crowd reaction
- a girl who sang Ellie Goulding's Love Me Like You Do, pretty good but seems like judges' houses bin material
- a girl who sang an Eva Cassidy track, pleasant but nothing more, see above
- a girl who sang a stripped back version of Sigma's Changing, rather good indeed!
It's a pretty strong category actually! Caitlyn, Gifty and Emily were my favourites but none are bad. A couple of good acts missed out too, although there was one DREADFUL girl who sang Meghan Trainor's Me Too :') then MNEK/Zara's Never Forget You when she asked to sing a better song lol. Other songs sang included Leona's version of Run, and Stop Crying Your Heart Out, plus some others that have escaped me.
Not sure on who's mentoring the other categories as it wasn't mentioned but we'll find out by the end of tomorrow via Twitter hopefully!
Dermot was there of course as well as Rylan Clark-Neal and Matt Edmondson who filmed some links for The Xtra Factor, seemed like there were a couple of other lads I didn't recognise filming stuff on stage too? Maybe some YouTubers filming a VT for Xtra Factor? No idea really
Ooh didn't realise it was already 6 chair challenge, feels earlier this year than it was last year!
Joseph what songs were performed that you saw? (as in like good songs or songs likely to get a big boost, not every single song! and I'm not reading your above spoilers as don't want to know about the acts just yet!)
It's about 2 months earlier than last year! I think it was only late last year because it aired later due to the football interrupting XF's schedule
Songs performed that I remember:
Andra Day - Rise Up
Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want To Have Fun
Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
Eva Cassidy - can't remember the name
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (twice )
Leona Lewis - Run (this specific version if it)
Meghan Trainor - Me Too
MNEK & Zara Larsson - Never Forget You
Oasis - Stop Crying Your Heart Out
Sigma feat. Paloma Faith - Changing
EDIT: Also remembered that Almost Is Never Enough by Ariana Grande/Nathan Sykes was performed! As well as Amazing Grace.
ADORE Andra Day - Rise Up (literally just listened to it)! Really hope that will boost the song. Such a beautiful song! I can see it getting a huge boost depending on whether the public take to that contestant more than the other girls. YAY for an inspired choice though and for getting me to actually YT a song. Really pleased about Simon having the girls too!
I'm so pleased Emily is back, she was one of my favourites the first time she tried for this!
I'm off to the evening session tomorrow/later today so will be able to give you a few more details about what happens there.
Omg not Emily :/ Great to see Gifty having another chance though!!
So I was at the evening session yesterday which was Nicole and the Boys, we were running around 3-4 hours behind schedule so finished at 12.30am, and the remaining 4 boys were carried over to today! :')
When the session ended there were only 5 in chairs, Nicole was being very ruthless! She made a couple of mistakes for me (mainly a 16 year old who sang a very obscure rock song called 'Cuddly Toy' and also the guy that sang 'Lush Life' who had a quirky tone but then sang an original song too which sealed his fate in a bad way) but I definitely didn't see a winner. Can't remember all the song choices but the ones that excited me (and will therefore be most exciting to you I guess) were:
Zara Larsson - Lush Life
Calum Scott - Dancing On My Own
Johnny Cash/Leona Lewis - Hurt (he specified which version but I didn't hear what he said)
Nicole Scherzinger - Run
When the guy who sung Run said he was doing so, Nicole commented "Wow, I didn't know anyone knew that one"! For me it was the standout performance, and the crowd gave one of their biggest reactions to it as well - the arena was very quiet during the performance so I thought the "unknown" song was going to make it not go down very well but there was an eruption of applause at the end. I can't see the guy going through to the live shows as he didn't quite have that something, but he was the strongest one for me and was one of the 5 on a chair at the end of the session. Simon also made a joke about Lewis Hamilton at this point with the subject of 'Run'
Nicole had an obsession with getting 80% of the boys to sing 30 seconds of another song a capella which only ended up working in the favour of one or two! Don't know if other judges have been doing this too.
So Caitlyn Vanbeck - considered to be the Louisa Johnson of this year according to Digital Spy Forums - is performing Kelly's Piece By Piece tonight (presumably the Idol version). Very intrigued to see it and also to see if it can have an iTunes impact!
I am SCREAMING at Emily Middlemass being back!
A girl I used to work with went to school with her and came 2nd to Emily in a talent show because Emily performed Set Fire To The Rain while dancing. I am legit screaming
so i'm guessing saara aalto will be a veto now
http://wiwibloggs.com/2016/08/27/finlands-saara-aalto-wows-nicole-scherzinger-uk-x-factor-audition/149286/
Saara auditions tomorrow She should be good, she's already come 2nd on Finland's version of The Voice and was a fan favourite in Finland's Eurovision selection earlier this year and came 2nd there too.
can she do you had my heart bc that slays me
She's singing Chandelier *.*
We're also "treated" to Emily bloody Middlemass again, god she was SO overrated the last time Hopefully she's improved.
Some of the judges' houses guests and locations have been revealed!
Nicole/Calvin Harris in France
Louis/Alesha Dixon in Ibiza
Simon's is rumoured to be Cheryl in America, and Sharon hasn't been revealed yet. Nicole's JH was just filmed this week and Louis has filmed already.
Calvin Harris OMG *.* what a great choice.
Nicole said she is working on music, with a single to come out during the lives.. If she's been working with Calvin Harris!!
It wasn't Matt, I believe it was Niall Sexton - the Irish guy who sang Sara Bareilles' Gravity last weekend. I think they mentioned that he sung Gravity when talking to him at the 6 chair and I remember thinking that its nice that he's been singing some inspired choices in that and Run!
Thanks Ryan. It’s interesting that you say you can’t see him going through to the lives as I’m pretty sure he doesn’t. To my knowledge the 3 going through are Matt Terry, Freddy Parker and Ryan Lawrie (who was a wildcard). I’ve been more impressed by the girls this year.
I've spoilered that post as I think rumours of who is in the lives are a bit more than song spoilers and I think people might not expect that in this thread so I've spoilered it just in case
Who's the mentor for the groups and for the Overs please?
http://www.tellymix.co.uk/reality-tv/the-x-factor/278069-x-factor-contestant-forced-quit-judges-houses-visa-issue-spoilers.html
I read that yesterday but thought it was TOO much of a spoiler to post, shame though!
Are we sure about this? We were all told Mason was kicked off last year and then suddenly he's in the final...
The website doesn't especially look legit, but it'd be a shame if it was to become true
There seems to be a visa issue every year now, especially since Gamu!! Blehhhhh. I don't get why judges home has to exist outside of the UK??
I wouldn't be surprised if Ivy makes a re-appearence in the live shows when someone has to pull out.
This series has more intriguing to watch for me than the previous three series.
You wonīt believe this but Iīm pretty sure itīs true. We will see it next weekend
Simon didnīt put Caitlyn through. Told her to come back again. I donīt understand why. She is one of the better ones and he has been praising her.
That doesn't sound like the reason to me. Who would care? Last year there were no Scots. The idea is the best from the UK. At least that's the pretend idea.
Are they doing Wildcards this year? (Other than JH)
I'm hungry for The Live Shows List. Is it already available somewhere over the rainbow or are the judges choosing the finalists live this Sunday like they did last year?
There is a final 12 that has been floating round for over a week or so now, and despite some strange inclusions initially due to them not even making it past 6 chairs (or so we thought) all of the supposed final 12 have ended up at judges houses through one means or another - so they have added credibility to them. The supposed final 12 is:
Boys
Freddy Parker
Matt Terry
Ryan Lawrie
Girls
Emily Middlemas
Gifty Louise
Samantha Lavery
Groups
5AM
The Brooks
Ottavio & Bradley
Overs
Honey G
Relley C
Saara Aalto
Most of it is becoming believable, especially as Ryan's released singles and music videos have been removed from the relevant sites. Although this then puts Saara's apparent final 12 slot into question as her material is still available everywhere and she has concert dates still lined up for a few weeks time, although she is a major star back in Finland so it probably wouldn't be possible to take down all her material if it was requested.
I bloody hope Christian gets through.
Lmao, the groups are a shambles
The "glam shots" for the final 12 have apparently appeared, and they look real enough as they've never been seen before even though they are in very low quality: http://oi68.tinypic.com/2wm3rqw.jpg
From what I can see the pictures are:
Top: 5AM, Ottavio & Bradley, Samantha, Freddy, Gifty, Honey
Bottom: Matt, Relley, Ryan, Saara, Emily, The Brooks
Would make that final 12 correct...
EDIT: Actually Emily and Samantha could be the other way around!
Well, the groups really are male dominated, aren't they?
At least the overs make up for it I guess!
If this is the final 12, I'd predict something like this (getting ahead of myself here):
01 Emily
02 Matt
03 5AM
04 Ryan
05 The Brooks
06 Gifty
07 Samantha
08 Honey G
09 Freddy
10 Ottavio & Bradley
11 Saara
12 Relley
Ottavio & Bradley would be in the bottom 2 for a couple of weeks but get "dramatically" saved against Relley and/or Saara.
Can Emily Headupmyass not win pls
She's so amazing though! But it was a bit of wishful thinking she'd beat Matt knowing the British public. But to me it seems a fairly straight forward Emily and Matt fight at this stage.
Honey G to win please
Genuine urban artist
Dunno why Saraa Vidoo didn't get through :(
Just seen that "rumoured" final 12 on digital spy forum with the x factor press/makeover pictures of each one of them so pretty much confirms this is the top 12!
Surprised that Caitlyn(girls), Peyton(overs) & Christian(boys) didn't make it despise being heavily feature each stage also surprised by two joke acts making it being Honey G & Them chicken boys
Over all I think its a pretty dreadful line up
I'm astonished at the lack of Caitlyn and Peyton (didn't Sharon absolutely love him initially too, yet disliked Saara and didn't seem keen on Honey G last week either, did a producer have a strong word in her ear I wonder?). Maybe there'll be wildcards for the live shows too and those two will be among those.
Also, Ryan, I'm quite certain Emily won't win! She seems like a budget Janet Devlin to me, who was an inferior Diana Vickers! She has 4th-6th place sewn up though I think, unless people are bored of that type of act now.
Emily sailing through to the final?! She'll be lucky to make top 5!
Regional support and "boy next door" (well someone who mums will like) worked perfectly for Nicholas McDonald in a similarly "weak" series!
Looks like these spoilers are going to be spot on! In that case I am going to be so thrilled for Saara even if her "foreign-ness" will mean she is out by week 2 at the latest. Hopefully the fact she is probably the most experienced performer of the lot will work in her favour.
Week 1 song choices revealed on Xtra Factor so far are:
Emily Middlemas - Toxic (Britney Spears)
Brooks Way - Cake By The Ocean (DNCE)
I presume Emily will do Alex & Sierra's version which they did at their X Factor USA audition to rave reviews and recently released as a proper single:
Saara is singing Let It Go
Never saw that one coming!
I actually think it is a good move for her! She would more than likely be first out, but with this she can appeal to the children's market and of course she knows this song like the back of her hand. It worked for Only The Young when they performed a song they had already released an official version of (Monster Mash) and Same Difference prove you can work the children's market with the right performances.
Saara and Relley scream first two out Especially Relley with her lack of airtime.
Also Melanie Martinez did that version of Toxic before Alex and Sierra xo Well actually Yael Naim did. Either way Emily will be shit.
All the song choices we have so far, including a few rumours from Digital Spy (put them in italics) who posted about Ryan's choice before he announced it so are 99% going to be correct...
Brooks Way - Cake By The Ocean (by DNCE)
Emily Middlemas - Toxic (by Britney Spears)
Freddy Parker - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (by Whitney Houston)
Gifty Louise - That's My Girl (by Fifth Harmony)
Matt Terry - You Don't Own Me (by Grace ft. G-Eazy)
Ryan Lawrie - Perfect (by One Direction)
Saara Aalto - Let It Go (by Idina Menzel)
Refreshingly current on the most part!
SAARA YASSSSS! Hope that's true for Gifty also!
Saara really is at risk of sounding too theatrical for the public's votes with a song like that, but hopefully she does well enough to avoid the bottom 2.
Awful choice for Freddy Parker too, unless he freshens the song up but I can see him ruining it either way.
Cake By The Ocean and Perfect also are awful songs in themselves but they do suit the acts involved at least.
I can see Gifty having a full on performance
I expect Freddy will do a piano version of that song, I guess that could work!
I hope Saara's performance is similar to this, not too over the top and shows her voice off nicely
And we can expect Honey G to be in the bottom two on Sunday. Even if she is, the judges will vote to keep her in
Honey G is in it for the long haul innit.
Freddie will do the horrendous Sam Smith version and they'll praise the arrangement like him and Nicole toiled to create it
Loving Gifty's song choice, she's gonna kill it
The theme for the first live show is #1s but none of the song choices are #1s
They include #1s anywhere, I'm sure one series someone performed a track which was #1 the Cayman Islands!
Love Story went #1 in Australia! And a couple of US charts, country and some other radio based chart.
Saara screams first boot sadly, it will definitely be her or Relley. One or both will probably lose the sing off to Brattavio just to make it worse that we lose two of the best so early.
They will include iTunes #1's. America has so many charts I'm sure everyone has a number 1 somewhere.
I guess they could go with That's My Girl is #1 on their album
Niall Sexton has been tweeting about having a secret to share and getting his teeth whitened in London, I get the feeling he'll be a wildcard to make it a final 13 a la Christopher Maloney and Monica Michael.
He needs to Definitely the best of the boys, can't believe Nicole let him go.
Absolutely, he tends to pick pretty unexpected songs too which is always good! He reminds me a little of Passenger vocally which is good because I get a bit bored of all the 'technically excellent' wailing powerhouses sometimes, no matter how amazing they might be able to sing.
Another song reveal from that source is Sam Lavery doing 'Impossible'.
One of the members of 5 after midnight posted a clip on his Snapchat from rehearsals
Appears to be Freddie singing Killing me softly
Bratavio are going to "delight" us with a mashup of Vengaboys and Aqua
oh my god.
presumably that means The Vengabus and Barbie Girl? (though it could easily be Boom Boom Boom Boom too)
any news on what Honey G is going to slay us with?
I believe it's Boom Boom Boom and Barbie Girl yes!
No news on Honey G yet, we seem to have the following so far - strange how we are still missing quite a few!
Confirmed:
Bratavio - Boom! Boom! Boom!/Barbie Girl (by Vengaboys/Aqua)
Brooks Way - Cake By The Ocean (by DNCE)
Ryan Lawrie - Perfect (by One Direction)
Saara Aalto - Let It Go (by Idina Menzel)
Rumoured:
Freddy Parker - Killing Me Softly (by The Fugees) (last minute song change)
Gifty Louise - That's My Girl (by Fifth Harmony)
Matt Terry - You Don't Own Me (by Grace ft. G-Eazy)
Sam Lavery - Impossible (by Shontelle)
No news:
5 After Midnight
Emily Middlemas (last minute song change)
Honey G
Relley C
I guess it makes it a little more interesting when the song choices are actually revealed
I assume we'll get them revealed on either X Factor's website or via the iTunes pre-orders in a couple of hours or so!
That Bratavio choice to be as much of a hot mess as it sounds please *.*
Gifty has apparently changed her song too, potentially because Fifth Harmony are performing tomorrow seeing as they are at the O2 on Monday!
yes at Bratavio...can't wait for that mess
Honey G - California Love
Emily - Closer
confirmed on Spotify!
Any info about guests tomorrow?
Can we pls get 4 of Diamonds as replacements for Brooks Way? Anyone heard what's happening since they withdrew?
Rylan confirmed on This Morning Brooksway will be replaced by a ''new act'' next weekend.
Good, although knowing Louie he'll probably put Yes Lad back in it instead.
Yeah I've got a terrible feeling it'll be Yes Lad, which would be silly as we have enough pretty boys on the show.
Four Of Diamonds would be the best bet at this stage.
Yep I guarantee we get Yes Lads
I'm not sure the producers would want to risk Yes Lad splitting 5AM's boyband vote as it seems pretty obvious they are trying to get the latter very far into the competition and a shock bottom 2 due to a split vote wouldn't be the desired plan.
I think they will go 4 of Diamonds assuming the girls agree of course, they will survive a couple of weeks and that'll be it and they won't really eat into anyone's vote.
I mean that would be the smart thing to do in Louie's case but then again it is Louie we're talking about so there's really no telling if he'll make a smart decision or not.
4 of Diamonds are officially back!
https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/1948668/four-of-diamonds-replace-axed-brooks-way-in-x-factor-live-shows/
Brilliant news!
Louis has the best category by far now imo. Hopefully he wins this year... and I'm no fan of his.
Oh excellent, they were the highlight of the groups at judges houses. Thought we would end up with Yes Lad so that is a nice surprise!
Fantastic!
Oh good, they should've been through in the first place!
Great, they should have been in the show instead of Bradotavia.
good to see some sense coming through and 4oD being chosen over Yes Lad.
4od had the best harmonies and pitch, fab choice
Defo the best choice! Not sure how far I see them lasting but they really should've been through in the first place instead of Bratavio.
I think they'll get through a couple of weeks on the back of an Amelia Lily-style vote when she topped the vote the first week she was back. Of course this isn't quite as high profile as Amelia's was, but it'll be high profile enough to give 4 of Diamonds enough votes for a couple of weeks at this early stage. I imagine by week 4 they'll be dropping into the bottom 2/3 and disposed of fairly quickly unless they manage to click with the audience.
Amelia was bottom 2 the week after she was back if I remember correctly. I suspect they will be safe this week but be bottom 3 next week and go the week after.
Ah yes that's right! And then she topped the vote again the week after before settling into 3rd for the final 2 weeks.
First song spoiler rumour is 4 of Diamonds with Keep Me Hangin' On...
I'm so glad they're back!!! Deserved to be in the finals alongside 5AM never understood why they weren't but glad for them to slay
I think they could surprise potentially. They have a crazy amount of support online! We'll see though, I get the feeling the public is okay with only Little Mix being the successful girl group around right now tbh.
Honey G - More Money More Problems
Saara - River Deep Mountain High
Relley - Ain't No Sunshine
4 Of Diamonds - You Keep Me Hanging On
5 After Midnight - Get Ready/Reach Out I'll Be There
Matt - I Heard It Through Grapevine
Freddie - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Ryan - Superstition
Gifty - Rockin' Robin
Sam - Hello (Lionel Richie I assume, obv not Adele)
Emily - Stop singing plz) (In The Name Of Love)
Not sure on Gifty's choice at all :/ Sharon has nailed it with Ain't No Sunshine for Relley though Lmao at Honey G, the song does sample I'm Coming Out by Diana Ross which is a Motown song but Louis will have his rule book out I'm sure.
Honey G's choice omg A huge favourite of mine!
No Jackson 5 / MJ though
yaass honey g
Honey G - More Money More Problems excellent choice *.* I was wondering how was she gonna do rap to a Motown song but forgot this existed
Saara - River Deep Mountain High well this gives her the opportunity to oversing eeek, I really think she's going this week
Relley - Ain't No Sunshine okay.
4 Of Diamonds - You Keep Me Hanging On guess it'd work for them
5 After Midnight - Get Ready/Reach Out I'll Be There they better actually have decent vocals for this to work, they can't just rely on their dancing
Matt - I Heard It Through Grapevine this will be excellent i can tell
Freddie - Ain't No Mountain High Enough ugh no
Ryan - Superstition good song but not a fan of Ryan
Gifty - Rockin' Robin terrible choice, it may well put her in danger of bottom 3
Sam - Hello bleh
Emily - Stop (In The Name Of Love) does she have the voice for such a sassy song though? not sure how this'll work
Emily barely has enough voice for Happy Birthday so no it won't work x
Also yeah that will do Saara no favours. I personally love her voice but Sharon would have done well to choose her something softer to show another side to her.
READY FOR EMILY OR HER BF TO GO!!! I DON'T EVEN KNOW HIS NAME WHICH SAYS IT ALL
Matt is apparently singing Say My Name!
There's a rumour that Ryan is singing Time After Time, assuming it's this version or one similar:
This is exactly what he should be doing!
4'33 would be a fab song for ryan x
Bitch x
Song list is out - neither of those were true
Honey G - Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby
Relley - (You Make Me Feel) Like A Natural Woman
Saara - It's Oh So Quiet
Gifty - Lay Me Down
Sam - Earth Song
Emily - How Will I Know (RIP this song )
Matt - I'll Be There
Ryan - Rolling In The Deep (RIP this song and him in the contest tbh)
5 After Midnight - Valerie
4 Of Diamonds - Lady Marmalade/Bang Bang
How the f*** are Sam Smith and MJ divas? Tbh I get queen because if anyone is a male diva it's Freddie. I like that Gifty is doing a ballad to show another side, Sam could've done with an uptempo though because it's just shouty ballad that gets a bit pitchy every single week.
What an extremely unexciting song list! :/ I really don't understand why still decide to choose dated, uninspired songs! I reckon this will be the week Saara goes. They've turned her into Kitty Brucknell and we all know what happened there.
I am predicting Sam/Ryan/Saara bottom 3 with Ryan getting flash vote.
Also just lol at Emily doing yet another song that pre-dates 'Toxic' by at least a good decade and a half :')
Also, I'm not counting Honey G as Queen coz it's def Jedwards mashup she'll perform sobshe hasn't stuck to the theme either. Really wish Relley was given something more up to date though.
Hopefully Relley C should smash that song. Oh dear at Ryan presumably murdering Rolling In The Deep Sam Smith and MJ? Really? There was so many choices Gifty could have gone with and they chose Sam Smith.
5AM - "Valerie" <- Excited to see this one as I'm sure they'll do something fun with it.
Saara - "It's Oh So Quiet" <- Will be interesting but I doubt it'll save her.
Relley - "Natural Woman" <- Oh god this has been done so many times before ffs.
4OD - "Lady Marmelade / Bang Bang" <- Interesting. Looking forward to this one.
Honey - "Ice Ice Baby / Under Pressure" <- I was hoping to see her do a Nicki or Iggy song lol. Bored of both these songs a long time ago.
Sam - "Earth Song" <- MJ a diva? Eh. This song is fab tho, will be interesting.
Ryan - "Rolling In The Deep" <- Lol rip Ryan.
Gifty - "Lay Me Down" <- Might be good but again is Sam a diva?
Emily - "How Will I Know" <- Ugh I really hope they bring her back to her roots with this one, last two performances have been so bland and I really loved her prior to live shows.
Matt - "I'll Be There" <- I like Matt but what a horrid song choice. So terribly overdone that it's almost burned to a crisp.
Why even have a theme called "Divas" if the judges just interpret it as "Females and Feminine Guys".
That's a pretty uninspiring song list there so many potentially great choices but they went with the most basic and obvious songs it seems...
Not convinced on that song choice for Ryan at all but I'll live in hope if the guitar actually is back.
Also unless I just misread something Digital Spy are saying the guest acts this week are John Legend and Busted
Are Busted replacing Shawn Mendes then?
I think Busted will probably end up performing with the finalists or something. I've heard nothing to suggest Shawn has dropped out.
Honey G performing Under Pressure/Ice Ice Baby on Divas week , any excuse for her to rap!
I don't get why they just couldn't do another Missy song or perhaps some Nicki? Like someone said the other day, 'Anaconda' would've been good! It would've been the hottest mess on XF perhaps ever!
Awful choice for Saara, she needed an emotional ballad to connect with the audience the way she did when she sang 'Alive', not something as quirky and offbeat as Oh So Quiet. Bjork a diva?
Terrible choices Diva week? Since when are Sam Smith, Michael Jackson, Queen and Vanilla Ice divas?
Gifty should've done It's Not Right But It's Okay, they never go for the less obvious Whitney and Mariah songs. I love Relley's song but it's really overdone, I hope she can get through though.
I'm surprised no one has decided to go for Listen.
That is such a terrible song list. Honey gs is absolutely laughable as per! Saaras just won't work at all, she is a goner. Also MJ and Sam smith? Wtf why bothering having a theme if your not going to stick to it!
f***ing hell
Awful
He'll smash 'I'll Be There' anyway, but Matt's had such a missed opportunity for this week to show the masses his version of 'All I Ask'!
Surely the winner, regardless?
Relley has so much potential but I'm going to quickly get fed up of her if she keeps being so dated with her song choices and styling. I know it isn't her fault but it's going to get very boring!
I mean Motown week it had to be dated tbh but this week she really could've done with singing someone like Mary J Blige or Melanie Fiona. Natural Woman is a great song but it's very X Factor Overs in 2006.
Also there'll be no "If I say Honey you say G" this week, she's been forced by David Bowie's estate to stick to just Vanilla Ice's Ice Ice Baby. Apparently they only reluctantly cleared use of the song if Honey G stuck to the Vanilla Ice version, none of her own raps.
shit stirring queen
So according to a Nicole's management, she was going to perform her brand new single this week but due to all her singles being leaked it means that there's no music coming this year which explains why Busted are on main show and Nicole is doing a cover tonight!
YAAASS NICOLE
Anyone else think Simon seems desperate for Gifty to win. Im starting to think Gifty is Simons new Fleur East, he seem to really want her to win and seems to big her up more than anyone, like Fleur East she is good but not as great as he seems to think.
If anything I get the impression Sam is his favourite I hate to be so cynical but it's a bit iffy that she is always off, she has real control issues, but just because there is talent there Simon overlooks it and heaps praise on her. Gifty is probably where the pound signs are flashing though because she has arguably the most commercial viability.
Confirmed:
Honey G - Men In Black
Saara - Bad Romance
I was always on board with Bjork for Saara but I'm not quite sure she can make Gaga connect to the audience. Sure to be a pop moment though!
Saara, i hope she can nail the performance. I was thrilled she wasn't in the bottom 3 last week so it would be wonderful if she isnt again this week. Simon surely has opunds signs in his eyes with Gifty and why i really dont know as she is average at best and certainly not the strongest contestant by a mile this year.
I can see Saara surviving the bottom 3 again if her performance is anywhere near as good as last Sunday with that song. So long as she's not on too early.
Not sure on the source for this but DS are saying Gifty is doing ANOTHER Fifth Harmony song, this time "I'm In Love With A Monster"...
saara can f*** off with that song choice
Tbh, it's gonna be much more eventful than Gaga's bland XF performance of it!
But yeah. Interesting to see if it'll work out for her, coz I can't envision it!
It wasn't her best performance - in fact her XF performances have never really been amazing but I wouldn't call it bland. In this one and the Marry The Night one her costuming/set design restricted her quite a bit so they felt fairly tame. And then there was the Venus / DWUW one Her interview after the bath performance though <3
It was so boring haha. Especially coming from her at that time of her career! Her outfit wasn't bland. Her performance was. That song deserved a big budget production and I just remember being extremely underwhelmed by it!
More songs revealed:
5am - Thriller (absolute SHOCKER I'm sure this will be murdered)
Ryan - Everybody (Backstreet's Back) (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTAF. Again, murder)
Matt - I Put A Spell On You (perfect choice on paper really, but I feel like it will become another run-fest)
Wow they really are sabotaging Ryan lol
4 of Diamonds are doing Ella Henderson - Ghost, Sam is doing Total Eclipse Of The Heart and Emily is doing Creep by Radiohead
Sam really must stop thinking she can belt the big songs without screaming! She just comes off as shouty all the time and each week seems to get a little worse as opposed to actually getting better. I really wanna route for her.
The song choices this week just make me realise there are actually no stars at all on this show this year, barring Matt (who has a stellar voice, but he even messed up last weeks). They just seem to be singing random songs each week without trying to find songs that will actually fit them as artists. Ryan especially!
Nicole seems to have absolutely no idea who Ryan should be as an artist, I feel they should be marketing him as a Shawn Mendes type artist myself...
Gives me Jack Walton teas from 2 years ago
I still can't believe Ryan, Emily, Sam and Saara are there when Relley has gone. It's a joke ...but then again it's the X Factor.
Ryan: what a terrible song choice, he's not great anyway imo but that really won't suit him. At least he has a better chance of actually going this week then
5am: they definitely won't do 'Thriller' justice but the judges will predictably love it. :|
Emily: 'Creep' could potentially work for her but I'm not sure if her voice is strong enough for the chorus.
Gifty: WTF at her song choice, I've never even heard it myself anyway.
Honey: decent choice I guess, thought they'd give her 'Monster Mash'
Saara: that song should work for her!
4 of Diamonds: if they actually get their harmonies right this time it could work
Sam: another good choice
Just realised that more than half of the acts still in have already been sent home once this year
Bad song choices all round imo though
Halloween week is the week where we saw the birth and real potential of stars on the show though and pulled some real surprises, so hopefully someone can pull something out the bag!
Cher Lloyd sang 'Stay', Little Mix did 'E.T.' and Only The Young performed 'Monster Mash'!
They are definitely the holy trinity of X Factor Halloween performances for me. Not sure I see the potential for a moment here apart from Saara.
WOW, the song choices this year are absolutely brutal.
Saara is singing "Bad Romance" which has nothing to do with Fright Night and Honey G is singing "Men In Black". Would have been more fitting if the latter sang Run-D.M.C's version of "Ghostbusters"
No amount of time would prepare me for Emily doing Creep, far too big a song for her so I feel it'll end up being murdered. I agree not the best song choices really, Sam and Matt sound good on paper but the former will have the usual pitch and control issues and the latter will be do a run-a-thon throughout. Gifty's is musically a very good choice but like I said, a bit odd to repeat 5H yet again. She has said on Twitter though that she is a big fan of theirs so maybe she just loves to sing their songs That or Simon loves to subtly push them, probably that tbh.
The Facebook page has been dropping hints of what artists the contestants will be singing:
Ryan - The Beatles
Matt - Wham
Sam - Girls Aloud
Emily - One Direction
Oh if Emily sings f***ing Little Things.... That will set her right back to being shit. I will bet on Sam's song being I'll Stand By You Matt doing Wham seems odd, it will probably be Careless Whisper though I assume as that was credited to "Wham and George Michael" in the UK? Ryan doing the Beatles is setting him up for a fall, yet again.
everyone knows 'Careless Whisper' is a solo George Michael song though so they surely couldn't get away with that?
I'd guess at 'Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go' or 'I'm Your Man', although both of those songs seem too uptempo for Matt.
I hope someone does The Saturdays and The Pussycat Dolls.
I'd piss myself if another Fifth Harmony song is performed
If someone doesn't do a PCD song when one of the Pussycat Dolls is sat on the panel..
I'm not sure if I class The Beatles as a 'boyband' lol.
Official song list:
Matt Terry - I'm Your Man (Wham)
Ryan Lawrie - Twist & Shout (The Beatles) > LMAO <
Emily Middlemass - What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction)
Sam Lavery - I'll Stand By You (Girls Aloud) > Out of ALL GA songs... <
Honey G - Jump (Kriss Kross)
Saara Alto - Sound Of The Underground (Girls Aloud) > VERY interesting! <
5 After Midnight - Begging/Wings (Madcon/Little Mix)
Four Of Diamonds - Hold On (Wilson Phillips) > Good Lord. <
Bottom 3 predix:
Sam - Ryan - Four Of Diamonds
Ryan saved via lifeline. 4OD going home.
Omg @ 4od choice!
I think Saara is genuinely the only one I care about. Gifty and especially Relley were the stars for me .
This could have been a really interesting week but come on...
The only inspired choice is Saara's SOTU, which was done last year but could still be good.
Emily will do this version and they'll cream themselves over her being original and making it her own
Matt's choice.... Wtf. Like yes he needs to do an uptempo but how is that gonna work?! I think Sam's is actually the best fit but there are GA songs I'd rather have had than that, like SOTU which will definitely be interesting for Saara! 4OD will definitely be bottom again, that's not a song made to wow and I'm sure it will be robotic and awkward again.
Matt Terry - I'm Your Man (Wham) (Boring)
Ryan Lawrie - Twist & Shout (The Beatles) > (Typical x factor song, again boring)
Emily Middlemass - What Makes You Beautiful (One Direction) (Could be interesting)
Sam Lavery - I'll Stand By You (Girls Aloud) > (Why this when Girls Aloud have so many excellent songs, Call the Shots i would have liked)
Honey G - Jump (Kriss Kross) (I can understand this, and it is very Honey G)
Saara Alto - Sound Of The Underground (Girls Aloud) > (The one performance i am looking forward to)
5 After Midnight - Begging/Wings (Madcon/Little Mix) It is reported they are doing Spice Girls Say You Will Be There
Four Of Diamonds - Hold On (Wilson Phillips) (I like the song but is a terrible choice of song for them, bottom 2 looms)
If 5 After Midnight perform Begging/Wings it means the Spice Girls have not made the cut, if they perform Say You Will Be There it means Little Mix have been left off, either decision is hugely disappointing.
I really was looking forward to this week and now it looks likely to be highly disappointing, i had also hoped someone would have had a Take That song.
Very surprised at no Little Mix then?!
The thought of 5am "singing" that is giving me convulsions.
And yes I'm annoyed at no Little Mix, I thought someone at least would have done a formulaic karaoke perf of Secret Love Song
Omg no Little Mix nor good Girls Aloud songs
Wham (duo), Kriss Kross (duo), The Beatles (who actually considers The Beatles a boyband?!), a Pretenders song disguised as GA because they released a cover of it?! Why do they even have these themes smh. Where are the actual boy- and girlbands like BSB, NSYNC, DC, Little Mix and PCD?!
I think to me the connatations are more how they are marketed and the sort of the music they release, I'd class Wham as a boyband but not Kriss Kross. The Beatles aren't a boyband for sure I mean I know it's a bit boring to be really strict with themes but it defeats the point of having a theme if they're going to shit on it every time! It's disappointing because it could be such a good theme with some underrated songs getting to shine but it's the same few or ones that barely suit an act anyway
If I had picked;
Emily - About You Now
Honey G - No Scrubs
Sam - I Hate This Part
Ryan - Night Changes
5am - How Ya Doin
Saara - Secret Love Song
4 Of Diamonds - Somebody To You
Matt - You Got It All
That's after a quick 5 minute think mind you
Good choices Jack, I'd have gone...
Emily - Night Changes
Honey G - Push It
Sam - Call The Shots
Ryan - Story Of My Life
5am - Sound of the Underground
Saara - Secret Love Song
4 Of Diamonds - Overload
Matt - Girlfriend (He has the falsetto for the JT parts)
No Little Mix is a complete shock, they have the hits and are huge and also they are from X Factor so i am totally surprised by this. I am also surprised Louis hasnt given Flying Without Wings to one of his acts as that is the only Westlife song he could try and sneak in.
Having Nicole on the panel i would have thought a Pussycat Dolls would have made the list, but again no and technically Girls Aloud are not on the list as essentially it is a Pretenders song. As others have said, the theme had huge potential but they have destroyed the theme, the list is endless but if had any sense and thought about their age demographic for the show they have made a complete mess of the song choices.
It would have been wonderful (maybe my own bias) to have had songs by Spice Girls, Take That, Girls Aloud, Sugababes, Pussycat Dolls, Backstreet Boys, N Sync, Little Mix and only 1 is on the list, all these acts are or were huge names that made an impact.
Give Honey G something which isn't rap for a change. I'd love to see how she'll do in the bottom two on Sunday if de ends up there
I hope they do Higher as the group performance so Honey G can do the Flo Rida rap.
I imagine the group performance will be Hair or something like that. Sam should have attempted Untouched by The Veronicas
Yeah I'm thinking a group performance of a Little Mix song on Sunday, although I was gonna suggest Black Magic!
The group performances don't correlate with the themes though, do they? Wasn't it 'Cake By The Ocean' last week? Well, the jury is still out on that horror
Sam should've done All The Things She Said if they wanted to keep up her "rocky" side, and the lack of long notes would mean she wouldn't be able to fall out of tune every few seconds.
Lowkey wanted 4OD to perform Work from Home
I'm glad she's getting a little chance to showcase her big vocals judging by this rehearsal, more so than she did in Bad Romance anyway. I just worry if the song itself is a vote-grabber, I think she can quite easily finish 6th in the vote (unless she's on during Strictly/gets horrible production) ahead of 4oD and Ryan - but if the lifeline vote is STILL around then she'd have to leap above a Sam or a 5AM and that could be tricky.
Saara seems to be singing No More Tears (Enough Is Enough). I don't know the song off the top of my head, but I'm sure I'll recognise it. I just hope there's a chance to show off big vocals in the song!
I love the song but Sam Bailey sang it which tells you all you need to know. Just like River Deep, Mountain it's a bit 2007 generic over song just so they have to sing something that isn't a ballad once Saara will slay it though, there are fewer vocalists that give you more of a chance to show off your pipes than Barbra Streisand *.*
Also Honey G is doing Bee Gees lmao
Sam is doing Gloria Gaynor I Will Survive
Matt seem to be doing Best Of My Love by The Emotions (I can see him singing Ella Eyre's recent version)
Honey G really should have done Rapper's Delight. What a missed opportunity there.
Lol No More Tears is exactly what I predicted/wanted her to sing. It's iconic and she will smash it.
Looking back, Enough Is Enough gave Sam her biggest vote domination of the series from the pimp slot. I know just seeing the difference between percentages isn't the "proper" way of analysing them, but her 12.9% lead over second place in Disco week was the biggest lead she ever had. Hopefully that means the song is a typical vote grabber.
Full list:
Overs
Saara Aalto: No More Tears (Enough is Enough)
Honey G: Stayin Alive
Girls
Emily Middlemas: Wishing on a Star
Sam Lavery: I Will Survive
Boys
Ryan Lawrie: Play That Funky Music
Matt Terry: Best of My Love
Groups
5 After Midnight: Boogie Wonderland
Happy with Ryan's choice! It was one of my favourite performances of Luke Friend's when he did it a few years back
Good god disco week and they STILL have Emily do a ballad This is a joke.
Pretty crap list of songs, it would have been nice to have some recent disco inspired songs. Excited for Saara ofc
I just remembered that Honey G can still do a rap to 'Stayin Alive' as there is the N-Trance/Ricardo Da Force rap version from the 90s, so that's good.
Boring song choice for Emily and Ryan's song choice doesn't do him any favours either.
Ryan's got the best song choice possible while sticking to the theme I think, I can't judge too far without seeing the performance of course but this is the first week in ages (since week 1??) where I've been happy with his song choice tbh.
He should've been given 'Get Lucky'.
Emily probably turned Get Lucky down for not being current enough
X Factor probably turned down Get Lucky for not being of the 'disco' period.
I hope Sam survives
Ryan is going to be AWFUL this week then, based on that. He doesn't have anywhere near enough personality to do something like that.
Yeah, I knew they'd give Saara song and there's no better disco song really to allow the vocals to belt and shine more than this one so even if it's obvious, it could be fantastic.
Looking at that song list, I think Sam is most in trouble of not seeming like she gave the song enough fight to "survive" or something.
Pretty sure Saara is doing My Heart Will Go On this week which is EXACTLY the song I wanted her to get when I saw this theme. Gives her so much room to show all sides of her spectacular vocal and could be enough to keep her out of the bottom 2.
From the clues, it adds it somewhat that Emily is doing Unchained Melody and 5am are doing Home by Michael Buble, both seem odd choices though so it could just be/others deciphering the clues wrong.
I can't figure out what 5am's song is I don't think it's Home, they said covered by Michael Buble and he co-wrote Home.
Saara's is PERFECT, exactly what she needs *.*
Yep it's a predictable choice for Saara, but she has the vocals to pull it off spectacularly rather than be a sub-par version of Celine as most overs on this show would be. Saara adores Celine too so I imagine it's the song she most wanted to sing too. Glad she's got a ballad, and it feels like a song that is pimp-slot worthy. As long as the staging isn't odd, then it looks like they are rolling with her momentum for one more week at least!
Oh okay, I think 5am may actually be doing Try A Little Tenderness which is more fitting.
Good lord they're going to absolutely BUTCHER that
Saara doing TITANIC* will be AMAZING

X Factor 2016 song choices - Week 7 - Movies songlist
Matt Terry
Writing’s on The Wall - Sam Smith - from the movie Spectre
Ryan Lawrie
Jailhouse Rock - Elvis Presley - from the movie Jailhouse Rock
Emily Middlemas
It Must Have Been Love - Roxette - from the movie Pretty Woman
Honey G
It’s Like That & Getting Jiggy With It - Jason Nevins & Will Smith I - from the movie Keith Lemon The Movie / Last Days of Disco
Saara Aalto
My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion - from the movie Titanic
5 After Midnight
Try a Little Tenderness - Otis Redding - from the movie The Commitments
Emily will do the version Drew Ryniewicz did on XF US but that was utterly stunning and there's little chance that she'll be anywhere near as good, but at least the song is already slow so she isn't John Lewis-ing up a happy fun pop song
Ew at matt's choice, he'll just go OTT on the vocal acrobatics.
I'd rather Ryan did a more current song but he's gone regardless so just hoping he ends on a high with a good performance
Emily: "I just want to move"
*Does another ballad*
Tbf to her if it's THAT bad she can just say she isn't really feeling the song, we've seen acts doing that already. It seems to be fine for some acts to do it, but not others. And I'd have thought Emily was a priority being a returnee with already a bit of a fanbase and hype around her.
I actually think Writing's On The Wall is a good song choice for Matt. He probably will overdo the vocal acrobatics, but it'll be a good song to show off his voice. He needs it after the last few weeks, which have been poor by his standards
Expecting Saara to steal the show again though with that song
I wouldn't be surprised to see both Emily and Ryan close to the start of the show. If the producers have any sense they should be gearing towards an Emily vs. Ryan bottom two
This series reminds me of Sam Baileys year tbh, that felt SO dated and so does this.
Saara has to close the show and kill it with that surely!
Can Matt handle that song? It's a negative dirge imo anyway.
Yeah Saara's is definitely a pimp slot defining moment song. Matt can handle that song for sure, he could handle pretty much any song vocally, I just think it's the sort of song where rather than singing it he'll do loads of his runs and the judges will take that as being good when really it's annoying to listen to
Saara's song definitely feels like a pimp slot moment but I could see them closing with Matt - he's not closed the show yet (surprisingly) while Saara has?
It is almost certainly going to be Matt or Saara, but it depends on what the producers are prioritising most. If they want a Ryan/Emily sing-off for maximum drama, this seems to be an intention considering Emily not going uptempo despite the protests last week, then they could put Saara on last to make sure she stays above them two. Or they could put her on straight after Emily without an ad break to "memory hole" Emily due to Saara's fantastic vocals.
On the other hand, they could be lining up Matt for his big moment - assuming he is still Plan A for victory. In that case he'd finally get a pimp slot. There's also a slim chance Honey is still only just polling above the drop zone hence the almighty pimpings each week, could she finally come unstuck?
My early prediction for the running order would be:
1. Ryan
-- AD BREAK --
2. Emily
3. Saara
-- AD BREAK --
4. 5AM
-- AD BREAK --
5. Honey
-- AD BREAK --
6. Matt
That would lead to a bottom 2 of Emily and Ryan, and they could potentially go to deadlock if Emily is bottom of the vote for maximum drama - Ryan could make some sort of protest and say he'll go instead of Emily and all sorts of drama.
Saara doing another song that Sam Bailey did on the live shows. They'll probably use the same arrangement like they did for No More Tears last week. Not complaining because Saara is growing to be one of my favourites but it's funny that someone mentioned it felt like Sam Bailey's year..
One of Saara's songs is The Winner Takes It All as she did at judges houses! I'm very much excited for a full length version, and while there could've been better choices for Louis Loves there could be much worse!
Oh and Matt seems to be doing Secret Love Song!
Oh and Matt seems to be doing Secret Love Song!
Yay for the boost, but nay at him going to be butchering it, again! It's by FAR the worst performance he's done to date! Although, I'm kinda hoping they're doing this so he gets a "moment" and gets to perform it as his duet with the girls?
I wonder if the 2nd theme is "Songs that got you where you are" or whatever then?
I didn't even realise he'd sung it before!
5AM seem to have Uptown Funk~
I quite liked Matt singing Secret Love Song during bootcamp
He was under quite a bit of pressure the last time though, so I'm sure it'll be an improvement
Saara doing TWTAI is going to be fab. She doesn't really have the emotional depth/range of Agnetha, but she will nail it vocally and it's such a popular song I think it could definitely help her a lot (assuming she doesn't get the death slots).
Honey G
You Can't Touch This by MC Hammer
Mash-up of Salt-N-Pepa's Push It mixed into Black Beatles
Matt
Secret Love Song by Little Mix ft Jason Derulo
Alive by Sia
5 After Midnight
Uptown Funk
Mash-up of Sorry by Justin Bieber with One Dance by Drake
Emily
Toxic by Britney Spears
Human by Rag 'N' Bone Man
Saara
Winner Takes It All By Abba
Mix of Diamonds Are Forever and Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend
From the Sun web page.
Oh LORDY, LORDY, LORDY Emily slowing Toxic down to arthritic snail going up a hill BPM is going to be a real avoid moment.
I wish Saara got more recent choices but I feel like she can sing ANYTHING and be amazing.
Matt will fail in doing what Saara already did
Not here for Emily doing Melanie Martinez Toxic
I'm a huge fan of Matt, but I really can't imagine him doing 'Alive'? His voice, although powerful, isn't gritty enough for that, imo.
Hmm, I don't know those two Diamonds songs well enough to know if they will mash together well and/or have big vocal moments. If it can have the same impact as Enough is Enough though I will be happy! I think two older songs could benefit Saara as she is the only one with those "classic" songs, so she could continue with her Sam Bailey-esque appeal to the older voters.
Matt doing 'Alive' seems slightly odd seeing as Saara has already performed that in the live shows, and is widely agreed to be her breakout moment. I'm actually glad to see Emily giving 'Toxic' another go, the Alex & Sierra version (or whoever else did it) will suit her so well. I have no idea what 'Human' is - although I recognise the chorus listening to it now - but it seems very unknown in comparison to the rest. Could be going for a Fleur Uptown Funk moment there.
Both of 5AM's tracks are centered around dance breakdowns and that is going to get so boring EVERY single performance for me.
I don't think Honey G will bounce into the top 3 with two more of her identikit performances in the same show and Matt will be perfectly fine with his. I struggle to see Saara leap above Emily who will now get 90% of Ryan's Scottish votes and is needed for the final to make sure Simon has an act there. I think her only chance is to leap above 5AM but I just can't quite see it as the boyband do have good song choices that will appeal.
I really can't see past a Honey/Saara bottom 2 this week. Saara's vote does seem to be very volatile - very performance-dependent - so I'm unsure whether the producers will give her a chance to bounce into the final on a rebound vote at the expense of the chosen three. Therefore I still think we'll lose Saara 2-1 in the vote (Nicole saving Saara, Sharon abstaining) and Honey will be gotten rid of next week leaving the chosen three in tact.
Early running order prediction is:
1. 5AM
2. Saara
3. Honey
4. Emily
5. Matt
Although they will probably get swapped around a bit for round two. I don't think they will be too annoyed if 5AM dropped into the bottom 2 due to an early slot (and another overly sensational Saara effort) as they would vote bounce to the final and Saara won't be on a bounce next week. I feel like Emily and Matt are top priorities and will make sure their hype trains are at fever pitch.
I haven't heard Human until now (I really like it!) but I bet they'll claim it as uptempo for Emily just becuase it has a bit of backing I really can't see it working for Emily though, her tone is just too soft and her voice too weak and it feels to me like one of those songs that relies on the tone and grit of the singer and Emily doesn't have that lmao.
Emily doing Human is a REALLY inspired choice but I can't imagine her vocals on it at all! I hope she can pull it off though, and benefit the song itself too cause it's just WAITING to smash I think.
Here was me thinking Toxic was too old for Emily
I see Human is one of these songs that has smashed mainland Europe but yet to make a dent in the UK despite him being British - see Marlon Roudette I guess. It does sound like something that should be a big hit here, very Hozier in its anthemic and unique quality.
I'm sure fans of the original will despise Emily's version as she won't have the grit the original has, but seeing as it is unknown to 99% of viewers I don't think it'll harm her as long as her version is still good in its own way and I think she can pull it off. I'm sensing a choir, maybe a bit of a comeback for her guitar and some clever graphics.
The list above seems to be correct and have now officially been revealed.
Matt is singing part 2 of 'Secret Love Song', so that might be better than the fully produced version.
Here are the songs under the "Louis Loves" theme:
Matt: 'Secret Love Song (Part II)'
Emily: 'Toxic'
Honey G: 'Can't Touch This'/'Super Freak'
Saara: 'The Winner Takes It All'
5AM: 'Uptown Funk'
The other is just "Contestants Choice".
Oh god. Saara has by far the worst choices. Bye then.
Guessing Matt will duet with Little Mix in the final then, doing Jason'a part? As they're almost certainly going to be on anyway.
I would say that I'm glad Honey G is singing "Black Beatles" so it can go #1 but Clean Bandit are there on Sunday so they'll get a fourth week at the top
Ooh 5 After Midnight doing their audition song again! Much closer to the music they should be releasing
Looking forward to a few of those song choices
5AM singing Uptown Funk & Emily singing Human will both be absolute torture. Poor choices for Matt too, not expecting great things this week tbh.
Honey doing MC Hammer tho
X Factor 2016 song choices - Week 8 - Christmas / Semi Finals songlist
Matt Terry
Silent Night
Jessie Ware - Say You Love Me
Emily Middlemas
John Lennon - War is Over
Gary Jules - Mad World
Saara Aalto
Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas is You
Sia - Chandelier
5 After Midnight
East 17 - Stay Another Day
Stevie Wonder - Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)
Exactly what i wanted for Saara, absolutely perfect! Liking Emily'a choices too.
Those are the two songs I wanted from Saara. All I Want.... is going to be a Christmas explosion of madness though isn't it?
Emily to do Christina Perri's version please. Say You Love Me *.*
Two massive songs for Saara, vocally! I hope she kills it. Great to see Jessie Ware getting another performance, that song seems to have been come a bit of an X Factor staple.
Great choices all round tbh. Just NO at 'Mad World' in general though. I really hate that song lol.
5AM surely going home?
I really feel as though it's more likely Emily will be sent home.
Perfect songs for Saara, exactly the Christmas song I wanted and then a huge ballad she can slay *.*
I really like War Is Over for Emily, but I agree she's probably more likely to go than 5am.
I thought Emily was coming 4th for sure but looking at those song choices I think 5AM might be in trouble.
We saw how bad they are with ballads last week in the sing off so 'Stay Another Day' could be a disaster. I feel like both of Emily's song choices are good, especially 'Mad World' which might actually give her another 'Creep' moment.
Excellent choices for Saara, it would be wonderful to see Saara make the final. Based solely on song choices 5AM could be in trouble.
Saara's choices are spot on tbf, hopefully they should see her through to the final!
Loving Saara's chances!
I think Emily could do very well with 'Mad World' if they give her this version
Stay Another Day is the perfect song to hide the fact 5AM can't sing well though, the backing vocals are SUPPOSED to be very loud and high in the mix so they'll probably sneak through. The choices do make me feel like Emily is the one they've given up on, but who really knows.
Saara to SLEIGH AIWFCIY though, I hope she does the EXTRA FESTIVE one and adds in loads of pointless ad libbing just because SHE CAN (she won't)
Really hope Saara slays, 2 fantastic choices for her it would be so amazing to see her in the final even if she probably doesn't stand a chance of winning !
Saara has captured the imagination at the right time. She will win.
Saara singing 'Chandelier' has potential to be moment of the series.
I presume Saara will open the show as she has the only uptempo Christmas song, but thankfully there is no Strictly overlap!
Any clues on who the guest performers may be?
Saara will be performing a Eurovision classic (!) that "all of her European fans wanted". This could go one of two ways, Rise Like a Phoenix was rumoured a couple of days ago which would fit but be strangely inspired. The other is that Saara said two of her dreams are coming true at the weekend - could it be that her dream is to perform an original? She performed No Fear in Helsinki on Monday, preparing it for Saturday perhaps?
Not sure this is the best plan for her victory chances, but Rise Like a Phoenix is a proven vote grabber - it wasn't just Conchita herself even if she played a big part in its success.
Thank you! Only other realistic choices would be Waterloo and Euphoria I would think.
I'd guess Euphoria if they are trying to give her a winning push, Waterloo if they want to quietly sink her.
f***ING IMAGINE IF SHE DID EUPHORIA OMGGGGGGGG
Maybe Cameron's Sound of Silence tweets made an impact! We wish
!
No words.
I think singing a Eurovision song would be a mistake.
If it's Euphoria there's enough of a feeling (I think) among the general public that it's just a DAMN GOOD SONG in its own right. That it was a big hit outside the contest suggests to me it's transcended the ESC tag somewhat. It's all about how they spin it, and of course if they go for Waterloo then there's no escaping ESC at all and she really is being buried.
Yeah, Waterloo would be an absolutely disastrous choice for her and I hope someone, anyone, would step in before that becomes a reality. Euphoria, on the other hand, is the closest the ESC has come to a monster, breakout hit in many, many years and marries Saara's great Euro-cheese with some modern and marketable.
I may not live past this weekend. I'm so damned excited for her.
Oh god I'm nervous at this talk of a Eurovision song as this could go wrong very quickly. I don't know why but I just can't imagine her performing Euphoria. In fact, I'm not sure I even want anyone to sing that song. Ever. Unless it's Loreen with a wind machine prepped and ready.
If it's Waterloo, RIP Saara.
Low key hoping for 'A Little Peace'. Give me that German, acoustic bop that I love.
*Please don't.
From DS:
Rylan just was giving final exclusives in relation to the final on Saturday
There will be a performance from a yet unannounced artist, which will be an exclusive.
The Weeknd, Little Mix and Kylie Minogue will be performing.
2 X Factor winners will come together for an incredible duet
One of the confirmed acts to perform on the final will do a duet with one of the acts.
The final contestants will be having a mentoring session with Kylie Minogue this week
New song choices.
Saara will perform a "Eurovision Classic" song which her European fans have wanted her to perform throughout the live shows.
5AM will take on a RnB Dance anthem performed by an all time great RnB male artist
Matt will perform one of the biggest songs of this past century, which was sung by one of UK's biggest female artists EVER
The winners single(S) are not what people will expect, it is different from previous winners songs - Rylan described it as a Radio and streaming hit!
Im thinking 'Yeah' by Usher for 5AM, 'Hello' by Adele for Matt but no idea on what Saara's could be. I want 'Euphoria', but that's just me being biased and not knowing too much about Eurovision in general haha.
Euphoria would be PERFECT for Saara, it seems realistic going by the fact it's what her European fans want her to perform? Definitely sounds like Adele for Matt, I was thinking Someone Like You but Hello also fits the bill. Craig David was the first person that came to mind for 5AM but Usher's a good call Jonjo!
Really excited by this exclusive and I expect the two winners performing together will be Louisa and James?
WANT AND NEED Saara to do Euphoria. *.*
Hopefully the exclusive isn't Louis Tomlinson.
I'd be surprised if it were Louis, rumours of solo music from him only began last week!
*tries not to get carried away with the thought it might be Harry Styles*
Being cynical, I think if they were going to bury her and thought she posed a threat they'd have had her go back to theatrical cheesy performances before this. If she does Euphoria that's her winning it sealed tbh. I can only see it being that, Rise Like A Phoenix or Waterloo, the former two being winners and the latter being the one that would bury her but I don't think it'll be Waterloo, maybe I'm just being too hopeful.
Rise Like a Phoenix would be best for her by far. I've seen her sing that a couple of years ago.
Will probably be Saara's flop Eurovision entry, No Fear.
To be fair I imagine X Factor could use Eurovision Classic very loosely and everyone has been asking her to perform No Fear, and it was also part of her homecoming set. I think her song will be either No Fear or Rise Like a Phoenix.
According to Dan Wooton at the Sun, The Spice Girls were supposed to duet with 5am, but have dropped out and will be replaced by Clean Bandit and Louisa to perform Tears. Nicole is duetting with Matt and Saara is doing Bohemian Rhapsody with Adam Lambert.
Yeah she ain't gonna win with BR :/
Oh well, at least I can start to prepare myself for it now.
She will still win.
Bohemian Rhapsody oh dear, praying these rumours are false! Seems to be loads of rumours going round at the moment, Harry Styles has been linked to Matt after a planned Sam Smith duet fell through.
Sam Smith is upset he won't be the first "openly gay" person to perform on the X Factor.
I just got it from Sofabet commenters who linked to DS but I see everyone is doubting it now!
Regarding Bohemian Rhapsody, if anyone can pull it off it is Adam and Saara. People won't care less about Louisa and 5AM although Matt and Nicole would be good. I think Saara and Adam can appeal to a different demographic (the Sam Bailey demographic) if they can pull it off. We seem to be getting lots of sudden changes to "confirmed" reports though so I'' waiting until tomorrow evening when they usually do the Facebook teasers.
On various occasions we've thought Saara's song choices were worrying and each time she's pulled it off, I have no doubt she'll do the same with Bohemian Rhapsody if it turns out to be the case.
True, we shouldn't really worry so much about Saara. She triumphs with everything, except maybe Sound of the Underground but even that was down to the production iirc.
I have major doubts about Bohemian Rhapsody as a good song choice for a duet. It's an iconic song, but the songs structure is a mess. And from what I know, even the original band never performed it live completely.
Who Wants to Live Forever would be a much better choice.
Bohemian Rhapsody is one of those songs you just can't really cover I really hope it actually is Who Wants To Live Forever!
Dreading BH especially in the limited song lengths of X Factor...
Matt - Nicole Scherzinger, after Sam Smith & James Arthur turned him down - Song: All I Ask (rumor)
Saara - Adam Lambert - Song: Bohemian Rhapsody
5 AM - Louisa Johnson / Clean Bandit, after Spice Girls pulled out - Song: Tears
Matt VS Saara.
Matt's been my fave since the auditions, but I love an underdog, so Saara winning would be great too.
You have to feel for Nicole, being third choice to Sam Smith whose only claim to fame is being the first openly homosexual celebrity ever and Shrek's shit.
But would it have been worth Saara winning if half the nation had been rendered deaf and the other half suffered from prolapsed anuses? Answers on a postcard
Consider it my Christmas gift to you, if nothing else it'll help you shift a few pounds before the big day.
As if the Spice Girls / GEM's reunion would be a duet with a contestant on X Factor, I don't believe that ever was going to happen.
When you're talking about former X Factor judge Mel B, former guest X Factor judge Geri and many time Judge's Houses helper Emma, I definitely think it's within the realms of possibility.
Their solo songs have apparently been confirmed to be:
Saara Aalto: Everybody Wants To Rule The World (Tears For Fears/Lorde)
Matt Terry: Take Me Home (Jess Glynne)
5 After Midnight: Crazy In Love (Beyonce)
Decent choices all round, it'll be quite interesting to her Take Me Home sung by someone with a vocal range greater than a thimble. Though, inevitably, he will end up caterwauling over most of it anyway.
Love love love the Lorde version of Everybody Wants to Rule The World. I am not sure how it'd work with Saara's tone though.
Sara's song is incredible even if I'm not sure it's necessarily a vote getter. She'll be fantastic especially if it's anything like that guy who sang it on America's Got Talent this year. I assume that's why the song has found itself in The X Factor song selections.
I wonder if 5AM will do the tour version with the slow start before popping off 30 seconds in.
At least Matt can't sound that much worse than old Jess herself. As long as he reigns it in a bit.
Saara singing Bohemiam Rhapsody AND Everyboy Wants to Rule the World?
Amazing choices!
I really hope Bohemiam Rhapsody isn't true.
Ooh Matt's done a duet of 'All I Ask' with a theatrical performer before, so if it's anything like that, excellent!
Ffs what about Saara'a Eurovision song
Exactly, where's Euphoria
