I think Madonna's TIC returns occasionally? But yea, she has lots to improve there.

Usher is a bit of borderline case - sure, he's been around for 25 years already and is generally considered as a veteran, but I find it weird that she hasn't had a proper streaming hit in years considering how well r&b is doing currently in the US. His most popular tracks on Spotify are all old songs and that one Summer Walker collaboration.

A decline in popularity also but the X factor winners suffered. Used to be an easy number 1.

The Immaculate Collection is consistently top 200, not quite top 100 but it's always there. Its run in 2021 so far is as follows:

RE: 151-152-146-129-122-123-138-

Also the likes of Madonna, Kylie, Pink etc are still touring behemoths so again, I don't think gaining streaming hits is too big of an issue for them.

It is a cycle. These acts get ignored by streaming services, don't do well with streams, which means radio starts ignoring them too, leading to chart flops, which feeds into the cycle of them looking unpopular and that it's unpooular to stream them.

Girls Aloud, Spices, and Kylie were all ruined by streaming. Look at the early 2000s charts, up to maaybe 2012. The charts were much better and dominated by pop. Now, they suck. Ed Sheenan and Drake and all the same old names just get hit after hit as they are popular on streaming.

On a similar note Comic Relief/Children In Need releases. Once an easy bet for a Number 1 single, they just don't perform well on streaming services. There are still occasions when charity records prevail, 'Times Like These' last year for example but they don't have the same guaranteed impact they once did.

I think if she doesn’t count for this yet then she soon will, but definitely Pink. She does not stream well and she’s quite a way into her career now so this is leading to a fade in her relevancy. She’s fought it well so far but I feel her next era will be her biggest underperformance.

I have to disagree, there's no way she'd have been able to achieve Platinum hits (even multi-Platinum hits!) if she didn't do well on streaming. I agree her levels of success is likely to keep decreasing but she'll surely keep managing Silver or Gold certifications in the near future.

Top 40 streaming chart run for 'Walk Me Home' in 2019 was as follows: 31-26-28-24-24-32-29-30-25-22-29-32 which I'd say was fantastic for an artist 20 years into her career, especially when you think of where her peers are commercially.

Flo Rida and Pitbull are 2 other artists who have not had a top 40 hit since 2015.

Cheryl (Cole) and Olly Murs are the obvious ones for me, as they were genuinely huge in the download era scoring #1’s, then barely charting in the streaming era.

Kylie, Madonna and Britney were already struggling by 2011, I don’t think streaming can be blamed for their chart demise.

I don't think so...was FF released in 2011?

Also her catalog pulls pretty good numbers on Spotify...just today Circus album crossed 500 million streams, her 4th album to reach that milestone (ITZ, BOMT, OIDIA are the other three).

Madonna? Lots to improve? In 2021? This woman could have zero streams, she would still be a living legend, she doesn't need to prove anything today, she has already left her name sculpted in history.

The only artists who still need to reaffirm their names on the charts are the ones who debuted in the 2000s. Demanding that acts from the 60s, 70s and 80s have a success comparable to today's stars is stupid.

If they’re still hot on today's metrics, good for them, but it’s not mandatory, just as today's streaming stars will never come close to the amount of albums they sold back in the day.

The likes of Kylie, Britney and Madonna are definitely struggling to have a hit with a newly released song due to streaming, but I wouldn't call them lost. The are all legends who are known by the GP and still rank in nice streaming from their back catalogue.

Really being lost due to streaming would be Cheryl, Olly, Katy B, Pixie, Jessie J- indeed the British acts that never really made it outside of the country, unfortunately.

And we all now know what you think so we’ll just get back to discussing the topic at hand.

Thanks.

I still think we should differentiate "lost to streaming" from "people just don't care". Can't see Pixie Lott selling any albums in any format in 2021...
