Sunday Chart Predictions
Predicting the 26/04 to 02/05 chart Stronger sales for Wiz and OMI is what I'm talking about After such spectacular sales and streaming numbers last week, there's no doubt that Wiz Khalifa and OMI will keep their slots in the Top 2. New entries to this week's chart should include Clean Bandit's 'Stronger', Michael Calfan's 'Treasured Soul', Conor Maynard's 'Talking About', former Westlife member Markus Feehily's 'Love Is A Drug' and Cameron Dallas' 'She Bad'. Despite its slow start, Iggy Azalea should earn her seventh Top 20 entry with 'Trouble'. It's expected to be another week of low sales in the albums, but there's plenty of competition, particularly from new entries in the shape of Alabama Shakes' Sound & Colour, Josh Groban's Stages and Passenger's Whispers II. Elsewhere in the Top 40, new entries may come from Amber Run, FM, Passion Pit, Squarepusher, Stacey Solomon and Yelawolf. ======================================================== Please note new changes to the Sunday Chart Predictions thread topic: Tuesday/Thursday - There will be no mids from MW for Tuesday and Thursday, however they may come from other sources - this is not always guaranteed. You can still post your own predictions for the week to generate chat to the topic. Wednesday - Radio 1 Chart Top 40 mid update will be posted with links to Radio 1 and any other chart info from MW and OCC from 3:30pm to 4pm Friday - Final Mid update from MW from 11am onwards. Sales info is a separate issue will be available from 2pm onwards if available. To keep everyone in the loop of all chart action please refer to the iTunes thread topic. |

Rihanna’s American Oxygen lounging at 82. BBHMM no longer top 40. DOES ANYONE CARE. |

Didn't think I'd ever see the day Rihanna struggled to get the first few singles of a new album campaign up near the top end of the charts. Having heard the former of them it's passable compared to what's come before so I'm not really surprised.
And I won't hear a bad word said against Josh Groban. I follow him on Twitter and he's wonderfully - maybe endearingly - self deprecating. Stacey Solomon is signing her album at my local HMV this Thursday... |

QUOTE Mint Royale @MintRoyale 4m4 minutes ago @GrechMartin Calfan 5 (might not stay top 10) Conor 16 (should be top 20). Also Markus Feehily at 23. |

Good start for Michael Calfan in the top 5 but sadly won't hold on, I'd love to see Treasured Love just scrape into the top 10 but I can see it peaking between 11-15 but I guess it depends on how well he holds up this week on iTunes.
If he can hold on to the top 10 as Dr Kucho did last week he could just do it! Oh dear for Conor, can't see him staying on in the top 20 as he's already dropping on iTunes |

Conor at best is going to do a 'What Are You Waiting For', or even a 'Living Without You' as I suspected.

Interesting that Josh Groban is #1 in albums! He should stay put; his sales will hardly be front loaded and I doubt many of them are pre-orders either.

It's crazy how much Rihanna's failed to capitalise on the massive success of FourFive Seconds - I'm guessing it's a combo of BBHMM not connecting well and the campaign becoming sloppy.
Possible tidal backlash as well? |

Or them just releasing songs too quickly! 'Four Five Seconds' is still riding high in the charts and airplay when they released both the new tracks! I'm quietly confident she'll deliver the hit that everyone's desperate for! (But FFS is one of my very favourites from her now )

Possible tidal backlash as well? Her era has been hugely mishandled. International artists doing on air releases just don't work that well in the UK. Beyonce and Gaga haven't had a number 1 since 2010, Taylor never, though Rihanna managed with Diamonds, it just isn't the same here as it is in America. I think they need to go back to holding back their singles and making sure they've picked up airplay before releasing. Neither BBHMY or AO are the most commercial of Rihanna tracks but I'm almost certain they would have gone top 10/5 if handled properly. This post has been edited by Joe.: 21st April 2015, 01:04 PM |

Rihanna has got away with releasing absolute rubbish and relying on her name to sell it for a very long time now, it was bound to fall back on her eventually.

Neither BBHMY or AO are the most commercial of Rihanna tracks but I'm almost certain they would have gone top 10/5 if handled properly. I guess if all releases were OA/OS then we wouldn't have that kind of issue and I think the longevity of 'Shake if Off' and 'FourFive Seconds' do show some value to not holding back releases but I do see what you mean. I also think if she had come to the UK to do any promo she could've won it back, maybe performing BBHMM somewhere even with an OA/OS surely would've gone top 10?! Also I think rushing into AO without trying to make its predecessor more successful has harmed them both as they're both still overshadowed by FFS Oh dear we waited 2 and a half years for this haha |
