Brace yourselves..

A Little Mix Xmas single is coming *.*

After their cover of 'Baby Please Come Home' I am hyped! Always good to have a new xmas classic to add to our playlists biggrin.gif

Posted by: Jade 17th November 2019, 11:40 PM

Yay!! Love their cover of ‘Baby Please Come Home’ and the festive version of ‘Love Me Like You’ so I look forward to this.

Posted by: TomHo 17th November 2019, 11:48 PM

This is awesome, I hope it’s a huge banger!

Posted by: Defaze 18th November 2019, 01:47 AM

Oo, I've wanting an Xmas single from them for years!! Really hope it's an original -- imagine something as iconic as Underneath the Tree or One More Sleep.

Posted by: Frenchie 18th November 2019, 06:44 AM

So here for this if true. I do love the Christmas version of 'Love Me Like You' so an official Christmas original song could be epic!

Posted by: caseclosed 18th November 2019, 10:48 AM

Not sure if it’s true but someone has posted on Pop Justice that it’s a ballad and that’s called “One I’ve Been Missing”.

Posted by: RobBob 18th November 2019, 12:16 PM

Yeah, I'm definitely here for that, if there's any act I can think of that could lend themselves really well to a Christmas original right now, it'd be Little Mix.

Gah I dunno how I feel about it being a ballad! I can't name many "Christmas Classics" that are ballads. I was hoping it'd be a Underneath the Tree/Santa Tell Me/One More Sleep type banger.. mainly coz I'm sure the Xmas ballads won't be used at xmas parties etc..

I LOVE their ballads though, so I'm still personally really hyped. wub.gif

Posted by: Juliano 18th November 2019, 01:56 PM

Whack it on an EP with a couple of covers and the Love Me Like You (Christmas Mix) and I'd buy it!

Posted by: Jonjo 18th November 2019, 03:37 PM

I wonder if this all means we're getting it this Friday? I hope so!

Posted by: pippa 18th November 2019, 03:55 PM

I am excited to hear it.
I prefer the uptempo Christmas songs but some of the slow Christmas songs can be good too.

Hey guess what? There's another option of NOT LISTENING and getting the f*** out of here and leaving those who want to discuss the song alone.

Just a thought hun. 😘😘

So unbelievably pumped for this after that snippet! Jade sounds lush.

Posted by: Bjork 19th November 2019, 07:12 AM

that's a very smart move and the timing is perfect now that DanceMonkey is gonna go on ACR

Posted by: Jonjo 19th November 2019, 07:37 AM

I'm expecting a top 40 debut (somewhere between 33-40) with an eventual peak in the 6-9 area (followed by an obvious 57-out drop or something after xmas week)

A lot of people don't listen to xmas songs until 1st Dec and I'm not sure what to expect after 'Bounce Back' performance aha.

I was worried it'd be on Heart Xmas for a moment, but then I realised: ain't no one gonna playlist this! It'll flop. This is their end. A cheap Christmas ballad after their singles flopped. That's not good. They had no ideas from LM5 lmao - just look at the title and the stolen lead song - and now are just floundering and went for the cheapest way forward. They know they're finished and want a recurring song for Xmas like Leona. Whoops.

Also this isn't an echo chamber x At least you heard it from me first that it'll flop, just like you heard it from me first that LM5 LOLOLOL WHAT A NAME would not get no.1 and neither would WLM! No need for the sad emoticon faces Xmas week, as now you know.

Imagine how tired we are.. 😴😴😴😴

Gtfoh. You're just talking the same crap that you've been talking for the last forever amount of years and they've constantly released stuff.

Bore off.

Last album flopped, like I predicted. Last single, their LEAD SINGLE!!!, did worse than Headlines and a Katy Perry single. They're now so out of ideas they're releasing an Xmas song to try and have a recurring song after they "go on hiatus". This might even be their last song. Fortunately they won't go solo, so we won't have to suffer 4x the uh "material". Oh, forgot to add, their last album with a terrible name, was a rip off. What album did they rip off? Forever, Spices' last one, which was also made to try and re-crack the US in Spices' case. Case closed.

This is gorgeous. It's the better and more mature version of 'FU'. I feel incredibly Christmassy after listening to it, so it does it's job in that regard too. Their vocals are incredible on this. So stunning!

I wanted a banger, but I'm SO happy with this mid-tempo bop!

If you mean this site/the whole Big Troll Vjay! sitch. We are perfectly fine with everyone expressing their opinions on here (but he's literally already decided he hates the song before even listening but w/e) What we're not fine with though is someone constantly saying stuff and trying to antagonise other posters by saying things & trolling, as well as repeating the same shit to try and make their point even more valid, when they've been wrong so many times prior and just constantly rewording it slightly different to fit their never ending narrative, just coz they were wrong the last time they mentioned it just a few weeks/months or so ago.

Why would you waste your time commenting on a band you CLEARLY have a disdain towards, adding nothing new to the forum from the last post you posted about them and just posting coz you know it riles up a couple of members... there is no point and no motive other than to antagonise and fuel tensions.

Have your opinion on the band/song, that's fine. But stop regurgitating the same shit you said the last time you were in this forum/whenever they're mentioned elsewhere in the forum. Casual members who don't even post here have even told him in other threads to STFU coz he's just a broken record at this point...

(P.s. you also can't say that we "really can't deal with people not foaming at the mouth over everything they do, can they?" when you literally panned their tour when you saw it and no one said anything to you... :\ )

Posted by: Big Boobs Vjay! 21st November 2019, 10:43 PM

Just giving my honest opinions and you can't deal with them because I recognise them for what they are!! I haven't heard the song yet - I'll be giving my opinion on it tomorrow after listening like I said x

Also I was never wrong. I have the BEST track record of predictioms with them, sooo yeaaaah.

Jesus you come across so up yourself. What do you want, a blue peter badge? Bore off with your negative vibes. Right or wrong, your negative attitude is not needed so do one x

Genuinely curious to find out why you still bother posting in this forum when you loathe them as much as you say you do? I'm not in Florence & The Machine or Tones & I's threads harping on about them/their music all the time. Nor am I ever in the Take That forum. I say my piece once and that's it, sometimes I don't even bother (then I'll make a little quip here and there in new relevant threads etc.. (more often than not tongue in cheek) like most people). I'll just let those that wanna discuss them, discuss them. So what brings you to this forum, constantly? I'm intrigued.

Oh come off it. There's valid criticism that no one takes exception to (the frosty reception to 'Bounce Back' around here is testament to that) and then there's whatever cacophony of shit that that user relentlessly spouts. It's so overblown and obviously posted only to be provocative, so spare us with this weird-ass take.

On another note, this is rather lovely. I sometimes find their ballads a bit lacking in the melody department (SLS/Towers/Monster In Me aside), but the chorus is stuck in my head after only a few listens. it doesn't quite reach the heights of Underneath the Tree/One More Sleep for me, but will still make a nice change of pace from the usual Xmas tracks.

I just find it rather bizarre that almost everybody that's responded to said trolling since has probably spent more time doing so than it did for the original post to be made? It's not nice seeing an artist you like being smeared constantly, but is it really worth the time and effort when anything said clearly isn't going to get through?

With regards to the song, just listened on NMF and it's a nice addition for the Christmas playlist. Don't think it'll be massive, but hopefully it can do something!

Posted by: Liаm 22nd November 2019, 01:25 AM

Oh. My. God. When I heard ballad, I assumed a much worse Too Lost In You, but a pop ballad. What they gave was MORE RNB MID TEMPO!!!! rotf.gif rotf.gif It's so bad!!! It's just an Ariana rip off, but with much worse vocals. Vocals hurt me ears in the chorus and towards the end. Man alive!!! They have no direction. They literally just pumped out a desperate Ariana rip off. I was right all along. They were a Cowell band like Westshite, and so had the easiest gig in the world: do as he says. They could have milked it for yeaaars, well, they did, but for even longer than that. He would keep giving them Salutes and awful "sexy" videos and they would just have to sing/ girate them out. Westshite just had to stand on stools and badly sing karaoke songs. Instead they did a Spice Girls and tried to get into the US market with cheap, plodding rnb. This song is nooo different to that. Plodding, boring, bland, a rip off of Ariana's oversaturated sound, no personality, anyone could be singing it (same as Touch, but that was a decent song except that it should have been given to a solo singer and the video was woeful), more of the same we've heard over and over from Ariana clones and Ariana's songs this year. Just wow. It's bad. I am actually SHOCKED at how bad it is. I half expected just to say it's alright and leave it at that before hearing it, but WOW!!! It is hard to mess up a Christmas song, but they went and did it. If you want a REAL pop Xmas song new to this year, check out Emma Bunton's Coming Home For Christmas biggrin.gif

But Mabel's is no better. It is also an Ariana cheap rnb clone, but that one has a CHEAP DRUM MACHINE AS ITS MELODY!! If I had to listen to one, I'd just turn off the radio and sit in silence!!!! Both as bad as each other.

You are so pathetic. Have you got nothing better to do than write an essay after essay slagging the girls off? Why don’t you go to a different forum and post about music you actually like? You’re not funny, you’re sad. And even if you’re right about the song not performing well, the fact that pleases so much is actually quite worrying. You lonely, sad loser.

I mean I don’t really post either, but it’s a little embarrassing - i don’t think it’s about not saying your opinion but you’ve said your opinion 100 times before the song was even released so you were never going to like it. it's not an echo chamber. So why do you insist on posting the same stuff?

Who have we jumped on? Pretty sure Bounce Back had it's fair share of people giving negative feedback and yet the only person that was "jumped on" was.. yet again.. YOU. You don't add anything valuable to the forum, I don't get why you're in here? You don't need to be. Nobody jumped on Lee for saying what he said? Nobody jumped on Calum for saying what he said in the tour thread... It's easy to blame the stans for "jumping on" people when they wanna discuss a song and ask someone why they think it's so bad or whatever. Doesn't mean they're jumping on them.

Your opinion and feedback is one and the same. You've given nothing new to this that you haven't said before about them. Just be gone. Let us who want to discuss it actually, you know, discuss it.

You've preached negative posts and things well before hearing it before. So bore off. Our problem isn't with people it's just YOU. Be gone.

This is pretty boring.

Woman Like Me, Think About Us, Bounce Back and now this is four weak singles in a row. They're really starting to become stale. It's a shame because they're so talented and they've got so many bops under their belt but they're just making it harder for themselves to get a hit again when they keep releasing boring stuff like this.

You'd think they'd do an uptempo song about Christmas, bells, reindeer, presents, the excitement and snow falling and do something fun like Mariah or Leona Lewis not use it as an excuse for a dreary love song.

I haven’t made my mind up on this really. I’d have rather a balls-to-the-wall Christmas ANTHEM like Underneath The Tree

Posted by: Jordan Lee 22nd November 2019, 07:27 PM

I can definitely hear Ariana vibes in this but it’s quite a good track on first listen.

It’s a different take on a Christmas track and it’s less Huge in your face pop anthem than the likes of Leona and Kelly’s but I like it. It’s wintery in sound and I can see it doing well over the next month.

Posted by: Mixxer 22nd November 2019, 09:13 PM

Hmm a bit undecided on this one. Wish there was something special about it, it's quite basic, safe Xmas formula. But maybe it will work? We'll see.

Posted by: Jonjo 23rd November 2019, 02:44 AM

This is such an earworm. It's gorgeous. wub.gif It's got such a classic, chilled, wintery, xmassy vibe to it and I hope it works for them. The real test will be next year and seeing if and how high it can reappear each time.

I'd have loved to have heard an all out Xmas banger from them, but I kinda get/understand why they went this route instead, as there was the risk of the banger getting lost amongst the Mariah/Ariana/Kelly/Leona's. I'm excited to see if it pays off for them and if it doesn't, it doesn't matter so much. Hopefully some promo is lined up and I'm hoping that with the BBC talent show tie-in, we can get a Strictly Final performance or something.

Guys with respect this is a discussion thread, not a stan thread, right? I mean, criticism of a track or the girls' direction/choices is totally valid to be in this space in my book because ultimately it's just an opinion and its not(as I read it) personal.

Fwiw I'm underwhelmed by the song, I didn't have high hopes and it really hasn't exceeded what I had if I'm honest. To me it does sound a bit Spice Girls (esque) - retro, but not in a good way,tbh this is almost a bit Stock Aitken Waterman to my ears. Really I have to say quite disappointing from a group who this time last year or 18 months ago seemed to be riding so high and really solidifying themselves as UK at least firm A-List. Since then they've crashed their (fabulous) album with a flop single and weird video, failed to take advantage of an organic viral hit, released a questionable standalone single which was flash in the pan, and now after promising something before Xmas have dropped a mediocre Xmas song. It just doesn't seem like a confident trajectory and I'm worried for them as a result bc I know these girls have it in them easily to deliver much better.

Posted by: SKOB 23rd November 2019, 08:42 AM

Yea this sounds very retro, like Spice Girls or S Club, which is fine for a standalone Xmas single imo, bringing some softness on the table. Not sure if this is super good though.

And we've had no problems with the other negative comments? Lmao. Quit with the whole "this isn't a stan thread" bullshit, like we're not aware it's a discussion thread and forum...

Maybe if Michael spiced things up and quit repeating the same shit about this song as he did with their other songs (and seemingly album - so he must like them enough to even want to listen to their album in the first place, right - if not I dont underatand why he bothers?! Ive never heard an album by an artist I actively dislike on my own accord and just left it alone... he does it coz it riles up people and he gets a reaction. Yes we should ignore him, but he'll just keep on and on until he gets a reaction and that's the problem.

We get where he stands on Little Mix but he just needs to leave this forum alone. I don't go trapesing in threads of artists I dislike and harp on about how shit their stuff is when I havent even heard it and "PREACH!!!!"ing every slifhtly negative comment that happens before he's heard it himself.

It's not even just Little Mix. It's pretty much 95% of every post of his. It's tiring and we're bored of it/not letting him get his way here.

This is what I'm talking about, but I am exercising my hard won (and everyone's) rights to be here. This isn't an echo chamber. I came in and gave my opinions on a reaaally bad Xmas song. If it'd be fine, I woulda said so. The only ones being personal are the salty mixers to me!!!

And to Jonjo: whatever. I can post my opinions wherever I want, just as anyone else can. This has been established x . I never said any of their other songs sounded like an Ariana rip off before? Btw if you didn't want me posting in here, you wouldn't be riling me up with all these posts you KNOW I'm going to reply to! Basically you want the forum to score highly on the postings chart. I said a couple things and that was it. The rest has been replying to you and your army of salty mixers!!! I listened to the song. I have heard some of the album tracks like the ateocious Watsappi and I heard enough to make an opinion on it. Make up your minds! Do you want me to listen to it and give an opinion or not?! ''''THISSSS''''

Besides, it's... a Christmas song. Even if it 'smashes' it isn't going to do a whole lot for them since it'll chart for 4 weeks maximum. I don't think they're in a particularly favourable position right now career-wise, but this single's performance is hardly going to impact that either way.

Posted by: Jonjo 29th November 2019, 05:14 PM

The playlists are so slow at adding xmas songs. I wonder if they're not adding majority of them until 1st December? Mabel (who is a bigger streaming name than LM atm), Jonas Brothers, Robbie Williams, Katy Perry etc.. haven't had their songs added yet either.

I really don't think we can use a Christmas song as any indication of the label's commitment. They were pretty relentless with the 'Bounce Back' campaign despite there being literally 0 appetite for the single from the public. Mabel's new track is similarly struggling to pick up any playlist support.

Posted by: Jonjo 4th December 2019, 08:26 PM

Yeah. It's all the streaming playlists rn. How have none of the new Christmas songs (bar Liam Payne) managed to get a good/decent position on the Christmas playlists? I'm so disappointed with the services. It's incredibly frustrating.

Posted by: Frenchie 4th December 2019, 08:32 PM

Yeah it's a shame it won't have a chance. There is just no possibility of it doing well without good playlist positioning. Might have to wait till next year for it to be added as they don't seem to update often.

Posted by: Anth 4th December 2019, 09:56 PM

What frustrates me is that they were at Heart FM this morning, and since then they have played the song once? I was under the impression that if an artist visits a particular radio station, that station would support their music? If not then why bother visiting if they are not going to support?

Posted by: lewis🎄green 4th December 2019, 10:08 PM

Promo for this and the tour tomorrow on Radio 2 during Steve Wright’s show

^ With the above, Heart regularly have a musical guest for Breakfast these days and play their current single. I’m yet to see them follow it up with a playlisting regularly. They’ve done it once with Taylor Swift for You Need To Calm Down but it was several weeks after her appearance and then only kept it on rotation for 3 weeks.

Yeah, I can't imagine it'll incur much (if any) loss for the label given the low-budget MV and the fact that Leigh wrote it. I still think it's a cute song and it would've been nice to see it smash, but I can't say I'm that upset it hasn't.

(That being said, they reeeally need to pull something out of the bag for their next single. Three consecutive flop/underperforming songs doesn't bode well).

You are aware that the list of writers includes people that wrote and produced the actual music, aren't you? It's entirely conceivable that she wrote the lyrics herself.

This one has really passed me by & judging from its chart performance I can kinda see why. This is their 5th single in a row that has failed to capture my attention, what the hell has happened to them, their first 4 albums and singles were mostly fantastic (especially the Get Weird & Glory Days) singles. But after 'Reggaeton Lento' they've just gone on a downward spiral & don't seem to be recovering. The single choices on 'LM5' were terrible as well as the standalone singles they've released since then.

Really starting to worry about them, hopefully 2020 will be a better year for them.

I don't necessarily think a flop Christmas single is going to impact their career, but I feel like in some ways it's reflective of where they're currently at.

I really want them to turn it around, but I feel like they've seriously got their work cut out and need to PROPERLY pull it out of the bag when they next release something. I do think it's game over for them if they don't.

It's not just a flop Christmas single though. Bounce Back was a flop, the album underperformed, Think About Us is their lowest charting single and Woman Like Me with everything thrown at it (X-Factor, Strictly, Brits Awards, big 'comeback' single etc etc) still isn't anywhere near being a million seller. The Cheat Codes collab before that also wasn't exactly a smash.

A song by Little Mix not even entering the top 200 is pretty shocking considering they had about eight singles in a row go Platinum from 2015 - 2017.

It did enter the charts... at #59, which is still a shit result mind you.

I think they're lucky that for whatever reason a lot of artists suddenly decided to release original Christmas songs this year, so One I've Been Missing has seemingly fallen under the radar as a flop.

It's frustrating because I still think LM5 was far and away their best album; it was the messy rollout, the Syco departure and the terrible single choices that killed their momentum. I think they'd be in a much more favourable position if they'd released the likes of FYN/Wasabi/Monster In Me. Honestly though, it was probably Bounce Back that really cemented their decline. What a wretched choice for a 'comeback' single.

QUOTE(shadow2009 @ Dec 19 2019, 01:49 PM) *
It's not just a flop Christmas single though. Bounce Back was a flop, the album underperformed, Think About Us is their lowest charting single and Woman Like Me with everything thrown at it (X-Factor, Strictly, Brits Awards, big 'comeback' single etc etc) still isn't anywhere near being a million seller. The Cheat Codes collab before that also wasn't exactly a smash.

A song by Little Mix not even entering the top 200 is pretty shocking considering they had about eight singles in a row go Platinum from 2015 - 2017.

I know for a fact the WLM situation has been explained to you before. The streaming ratios changed between the GD and LM5 eras, hence why its total sales appear 'underwhelming' in comparison to their GD singles. It was a smash, and I can't believe people are still trying to deny that (especially in light of their recent chart performance).

The TAU assessment is also sorta' unfair given that both its airplay and Spotify support was abysmal, plus it was hindered even further by the messy video rollout. I'll agree with you re. Bounce Back though. It really had no reason to flop as hard as it did besides being a poor song.

QUOTE(Tawdry Hepburn @ Dec 18 2019, 03:00 PM) *
I don't necessarily think a flop Christmas single is going to impact their career, but I feel like in some ways it's reflective of where they're currently at.

I really want them to turn it around, but I feel like they've seriously got their work cut out and need to PROPERLY pull it out of the bag when they next release something. I do think it's game over for them if they don't.

Yeah, hard to disagree here. I think they're in a similar position to Katy (although perhaps not quite as bleak), in that if they release an undeniable banger like NRO then it'll smash, but anything middling or safe (like this single) will probably sink without a trace. I really hope they pull it out the bag; yet another wave of momentum after the 'Black Magic' revival would be slightly iconic.

This is so important - the ratio change *is* notable! The fact it's being ignored seems quite convenient, because to me, Woman Like Me was an undeniable smash hit. It wasn't remotely a problem for the LM5 era, regardless of what people's personal opinions are (and it's far from my fave LM single!)

Posted by: JosephCarey 20th December 2019, 04:24 PM

Also when did 1m become the barometer for success anyway? I know in the past few years it's been way easier to hit than it used to be, but to suggest a song underperformed cause it didn't make 1m (regardless of the ratio change) is absurd.

It's so bizarre. I've never seen a fanbase so intent in underplaying how successful a single was. It was literally the only aspect of the LM5 era that wasn't an underperformance. laugh.gif

Woman Like Me was a decent sized hit, but I personally feel it was the wrong choice to lead the album with. I think it put a lot of the casual fans off from buying the album, and ideally, would have been released in the summer instead of Only You. Monster In Me would have been the perfect choice to lead the album with I reckon.

Well alright! Who else was right? Me? Just me and one other person selecting not debuting top 40 once it started flopping? Right!

Omfg speaking of, that atroocious bounce flop came on at the gym. It even has a Mel C I Want Candy style cheesy Mexican breakdown in the middle!! Not surprised that flopped. Even copying the Spices' fall from grace. Tsk tsk!

Also WLM flopped too. The end.

Yah, the Cowell band was even floppier than I thought, but I still can't see this doing that much better. 4 mill from people leaving bbtory on in the background tops.

Vertical video.

This really has been shafted by its omission from the main Christmas Playlists but it still probably should of done better even without them. Hopefully next year it could be added to either "Christmas Hits" or "Christmas is Coming". I did notice it got added to the Christmas Party playlist the other day.

I know what point you were making, but I was mainly talking about the “it wasn’t remotely a problem for the LM5 era” part of your post. WLM obviously did well in the grand scheme of things, but it clearly wasn’t the best choice to lead the album with (similarly to Move in that respect).

You would have predicted it to "miss the top 40" even if it was a SOTME smash... so be quiet. No one takes your opinion seriously coz you bang on about it until the point where it is right or whatever.

You said they were over after their last album... LM5 happened. Pretty sure you also stated that they'd "split before the end of the year".. they're currently still together and have announced a Summer tour, with a reality show starting in the new year... so guess what mate... smile.gif

You keep repeating the same rubbish just to antagonise and get reactions and you don't like it. Just stay away from this forum. It's not about having a different opinion, plenty of others have said their piece about the track and don't get mobbed for it. We call YOU out on it, coz you're a troll at this point.

Anyway...

I'm disappointed with it's performance. However, the thing that's keeping me quite optimistic about it all is that any new Christmas song that was released in November/December seemed to have struggled. It wasn't just these girls. Mabel and Taylor (the latter being one of the biggest popstars in the world rn with the former as one of the biggest new British acts) struggled with their new efforts too. So LM out performing them is pleasantly surprising to me.

The issue is with the big Christmas playlists last being updated in October and then not being touched until less than a week ago. We all know how reliant singles are on playlist support nowadays. Nobody gets a pass and that's really sad to see. But like numerous others have said, I doubt a niche Xmas single is gonna hinder their progress as much as some like to believe it will, but they definitely have their work cut out for them, so we'll see. They are still at the point where they just need a Black Magic/Shout Out To My Ex to bounce back (lol) quite easily.

Posted by: legendsglory 25th December 2019, 02:14 PM

gained over 800k streams in todays update. next christmas they need to push this harder! put it in the biggest playlists, do performances etc as i think this can be big every christmas if they actually push it

Posted by: davidas 26th December 2019, 01:54 PM

Wow this flopped hard sad.gif

Posted by: Slick 26th December 2019, 02:13 PM

TBF as much as we hate a smug bitch, I predicted this would flop too. The girls have lost their way. They need to find it again and sharpish or their move to another label will look very silly. They have such talent and all this time we thought Syco was terrible at managing them - seems they knew what they were doing after all!

Posted by: Jonjo 26th December 2019, 09:01 PM

But we also, we have to think about the likes of Mabel and Taylor (both bigger streaming forces rn than LM) flopped harder than LM did. All of their problems were that the main/big Spotify playlists didn't update since October when they all released their Christmas songs.

I get what you guys are saying, kinda, but I dunno if you can put too much into the niche xmas single doing nothing. Their last huge hit was only a year ago. So they can def pull it back with a proper comeback. Plus, we will get to see how RCA work (I'm personally not confident with RCA) but with the right track and the same kinda airplay/promotion that Bounce Back received, they'll be fine. I feel like RCA won't allow another Bounce Back to happen.

I may be "blind" or "naïve" to it all, but I'm just remaining optimistic about our options and exploring all avenues rn. And if their next album is their last, idgas. They've had an incredible run. As much as I'd love them to, they can't/won't go on forever. I'm so excited for album 6! *.*

Edit: I'm not having a go btw aha (I think/hope you know that)

Posted by: Frenchie 26th December 2019, 09:28 PM

All they have to do is comeback with a great pop song and they’ll be fine. They still have the fans and radio support and we know they can make good music.

Mabel is a streaming monster now?

Posted by: shindymindy 26th December 2019, 10:22 PM

The public won’t forget about them anytime soon:

Tv show in the new year
Summer tour selling well (as always)

They just need to get ‘that’ song again and it will be OK.

Do they though? WLM only got a few weeks top 10 due to good faith with radio. That has now gone. Cowell will not allow the radio to play his ex Cowell band. They aren't talented. They care more about being Instagram models. They are finished.

When I said they had lost their way, I wasn't being specific to the Christmas single. It's the latest in a long line of mistakes they've made and it's sad to see a band who were literally the biggest girl group in the world two years ago start to fade away alarmingly quickly. I really hope they can pull it back with a big single and a proper album campaign.

Posted by: kye 26th December 2019, 11:56 PM

they need better material - full stop. lm5 was not the one + the one song that could have smashed (forget you not) was left in the cold.

if their label really care about them, they'll get them working with some bigger producers. it's lovely they let leigh-anne write etc but.. we need some smashes, girls.

I know you wasn't being specific to the Christmas single aha (sorry, re-reading my post back and I understand why you thought that I did laugh.gif). The only "real" mistake that we can truly account for is Bounce Back. Irregardless of how people personally feel towards WLM, that was a huge hit for them. Then the release of the album/Think About Us (promo being months apart/before the actual single release for example) was a mess due to label politics and being in the transitioning period of moving labels (via a very public and messy label switch).

Bounce Back had great promo and airplay. But the song really wasn't it, clearly. I still bop to it personally, but the general public didn't connect with it despite promo and airplay (& then ofc the Xmas single which I've stated about before).

I'm keeping everything crossed that WLM > TAU > BB is just their 2nd Move > Little Me > WU moment and they have another pop anthem like Black Magic up their sleeve to get the public back and it'll be nice to have a complete era under a new label, before deciding/discussing it's over for them or whatever. Serve us the bops. Give us more Touch, Wasabi & Forget You Not's, mixed with your Black Magic, Shout Out & Secret Love Songs. *.*

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 28th December 2019, 05:12 PM

They need to work smart and get the next era right. The decline in sales in 2 albums was huge so I hope they can get the material to reverse that.

Posted by: Jonjo 30th December 2019, 03:54 PM

It did. But I'm just happy that their song was higher than Taylor and Mabel laugh.gif (As I believe it proves just how reliant and important Christmas songs are on good playlisting positions etc..)

Hoping it can go top 40 at some point next year. We shall see!

Will many of you be going back to this or not?

I will definitely be going back to it as I find it really cute! Do I wish it was more of a UTT/AIWFCIY/OMS/STM type Christmas Bop? Of course!

Also, Spotify don't update their Christmas playlists after October and this isn't on their main one (Christmas Hits - Taylor is though) so don't expect this back in the streaming charts! laugh.gif Just enjoy it for yourself and anything else will just be an added bonus biggrin.gif

Posted by: -Jay- 14th December 2022, 01:47 AM

I do wish at some point during their run they'd worked on an uptempo original Christmas song though. Although I regularly play the Christmas Mix of Love Me Like You, that's the next best thing!

Power of a Christmas single!
It's now their 38th most-streamed song on Spotify. Only a handful of their really famous album tracks have more streams (Oops, Love Me or Leave Me, album version of few singles, etc).
By next few Christmases, I wonder where it would be!

Posted by: JulianNial 5th January 2024, 06:18 PM

I always felt it was super underrated, it has a firm placement on all of my Christmas playlists (along with the Christmas Mix of Love Me Like You), I'd love to see it get a cert in the next couple of years. If only it was given slightly more budget for the video.
