Golden UK Chart Predictions

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 1st March 2018, 07:29 PM

I'm gonna be bold and say #1 with 35k, purely because of what they've done with all the bundles and stuff.

Posted by: liamk97 1st March 2018, 07:33 PM

I think Kiss Me Once opened with 29k - I reckon this album could debut with more, even despite the general decline in the market, due to the amount of formats and bundles.

I guess about 40k and most likely #1 unless something big comes along in the meantime.

Posted by: Jay ☆ 2nd March 2018, 12:33 AM

I'm guessing #1 and 33k.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd March 2018, 03:43 AM

Number 1 with around 30k.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 2nd March 2018, 09:53 AM

I went super positive and said number 1 with about 32.5k sales .... though I am not sure what other albums are out the same week?

Posted by: pippa 2nd March 2018, 12:59 PM

I remain optimistic for number 1 but i see the album falling short of 30,000 opening sales.

So far:

The Aces – When My Heart Felt Volcanic
Blackberry Smoke - Find A Light
CNCO - CNCO
Cosmo Sheldrake - The Much Much How How And I
The Courteeners - St. Jude Re:Wired
Eels - The Deconstruction
Kylie Minogue – Golden
Lisa Stansfield - Deeper
Paul Carrack – These Days
Tom Misch – Geography
Zola Jesus – Okovi: Additions

Kylie will almost certainly be ahead of all of those and there doesn't seem to be any new releases the week before that could continue to sell well enough to keep her from the top.

I’m not sure the new album will make no1. I feel they at least need to promote another single to help generate more interest in the album. Kiss me once peaked at 2 and that was on the back of a top 20 single which hasn’t been achieved this time round. The greatest showman will probably hang around for a bit but that said there isn’t much other competition st the moment so I’d say I should go top3.

Posted by: liamk97 3rd March 2018, 12:17 AM

There's been lots of formats and bundles so I think its first week sales will be good enough to beat any competition, unless something big comes along in the meantime. The Greatest Showman is still selling well but I don't think it'll be enough to keep Kylie from the top spot in a month's time.

Stop Me From Falling is coming pre-album and looks like a fun song!

http://forum.popjustice.com/threads/kylie-golden-14th-album.65220/page-421 see clip of video on this forum

she has been gathering pre-orders galore and just think how many pre-ordered to get the code for tickets etc.

I think she will do really well.

Posted by: seejayjee 3rd March 2018, 03:03 PM

I've said No.1 and between 30-39k. I reckon more towards the lower end of that bracket. I do have a feeling Golden will sell more than Kiss Me Once in its first week and overall.

Posted by: Regina 3rd March 2018, 04:34 PM

I think top 3 is a dead vert, maybe #1. Around 35K too.

Jack Savoretti will likely tweet about their duet and that could nab a few more sales as his market is different to Kylie's.

Now that I have heard Stop Me From Falling I think if released a few weeks before album then it could sell a lot more copies

Posted by: Regina 4th March 2018, 08:51 PM

Unless I'm missing something you've heard a minute or so of a very low quality version.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 4th March 2018, 09:20 PM

I can still hear the song..... And I have seen three clips now and it sounds fantastic . Very catchy. Haven't been this excited since Get Outta My Way. Un

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 5th March 2018, 02:00 AM

Oh im worried, im still bitter over the over hype for get outta my way. I was so excited to hear it after all the hype and i was left so disappointed so im hoping its not the same here. I wont allow myself to get too excited until i hear it.

I really hope Golden can get number 1, it would be nice to see Kylie get a number 1 on some chart. It would be nice to get a 6th number 1 in the album chart.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 5th March 2018, 09:05 AM

Get Outta my way was brilliant! Just poor marketing .... Paul O'Grady TV show was never going to be big enough for it.

Posted by: Mack. 10th March 2018, 08:27 AM

#1, I think with 32k sales.

Posted by: Jordan Lee 16th March 2018, 03:50 PM

#1 with 34K sold.

http://www.musicweek.com/labels/read/kylie-minogue-s-country-tinged-return-promises-new-golden-age-for-bmg/071785

BMG are predicting big things for the album. Somehow, I feel they are being overtly optimistic x

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th March 2018, 02:21 AM

Or they know the pre order sizes and know what is to come this campaign. Remember for them Kylie probably is big!

Posted by: slowdown73 17th March 2018, 10:30 AM

I agree, maybe they have had high pre-orders due to people buying the tour bundles with the album. I’d still be surprised if it outsells kiss me once in the first week but it could happen. Not sure about the longevity of the album though, even if it starts off well it will probably drop quickly.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th March 2018, 12:18 PM

Well at moment she would only need to sell 2.5k a week to stay top 40.... If it gets to number one then it should get her interest. Plus discount sales and promos will keep her around a while and tour is for rest of year so I expect her to keep getting promo slots etc on big shows etc and more remixes of songs. Let's see

Posted by: liamk97 17th March 2018, 12:26 PM

I think first week sales will be pretty decent based on everything we've seen so far, it's just hard to guess what longevity will be like as I've learnt it's easier to not have expectations when it comes to Kylie. I do have a feeling this one has the potential to hold up better than Kiss Me Once though; BMG seem to be investing a lot into this era and the music seems more catered to Radio 2 listeners than Kiss Me Once was.

Whatever the chart success, I think it's just refreshing for Kylie to have a team who are invested and excited by having her on their label.

Posted by: SmileyKylie 17th March 2018, 12:31 PM

Yep let's wait and see what happens and what stuff she does in coming months. I still think a big TV special for 50th birthday may come sometime

The Greatest Showman may well carry on this big sales and Kylie may miss out? The streaming sales of Showman are big on their own!

I guess we have 3 weeks for sales to dip a little but will they?
