The one thing I'm taking from it is that Italy probably have very low viewership in the semi finals, which means that it's probably possible to manipulate the televote if you've got the money to spend and a point to prove - a bit like Moldova 2021 surprisingly getting 12 points from France in the semis and then absolutely nothing two days later. Also Italy are lowkey the most right wing country in Western Europe so of course they'd be more primed to be pro-Israeli. Yeah this is true, they’re a very racist country and I know that RAI out and out supported Israel during Sanremo and viewers were outraged at Ghali being pro Palestine. If any country was going to be all in Israel, it would be Italy. I think they are also, despite being a Big 5 country and always doing well, a country who doesn’t really care much about Eurovision, Sanremo is a huge thing that eclipses Eurovision but I don’t think the actual Eurovision is necessarily a huge thing that a semi final would particularly be an event when they aren’t even actually competing. So maybe it’s not all lost, it’s just very discouraging to see. I’m hoping the jury tanks it, I do think it won’t do that well with them because it’s just a mid ballad at the end of the day, nothing particularly striking to stand out if you look at say Nemo or Slimane. At least the jury results are first so I guess that paints a picture before we see the televite. I’m meant to be at karaoke and a viewing party and this is all making me not want to go and wished I’d boycotted but in my heart of hearts, as much as I get the sentiment, that’s giving invand letting them win. If the jury vote looks like they’re winning, there’s no way I can stay and watch it happen though :/ |

Well much as I believe Israel deserve to be treated fairly in the contest (I always believed the same about Russia, Belarus and so on), that really would be a disaster if they won for political reasons.

My thoughts from SF2....
Greece and Latvia were sh!te and shouldn't have gone through. Greece seemed to be miming most of it - or the track was turned up so much that it drowned out anything that she was singing. Its a shame Denmark didn't make it through; definitely one of the betters songs of SF2. Switzerland, Estonia and Netherlands were highlights for me Like SF1 alot of women singing ballads and even in SF2 next to strange random rocks This post has been edited by ElectroBoy: 10th May 2024, 07:26 AM |

I really enjoyed Helena, Charlotte and Sertab performances for the intervel and a real trip down memory lane as I've always liked all 3 songs.

Watching this now as I’ve been at a family wedding
I do feel like Czechia and Denmark should have qualified - especially the former I also think Joost’s performance was a bit of a mess. Catchy song but I doubt it would have gotten much from the juries had the disqualification not happened |
