Obviously the reality is just absurd, but if you could change one rule in football, what would it be?

Remove the offside rule from the game?

Change the way referees make handball decisions?

Allow more substitutions in a match?

Something else?

Players to wear helmets because of the whole possible dementia/heading the ball links that are talked about in the news.

Get rid of offside

This seemed like an obvious rule change, but then what would all the goalhangers be doing for 90 minutes...

Great topic here, awardinary. For me, the FA Cup winner gets a place in the Champions League.

Allow 5 substitutions in a match.
Footballer to come off as a head injury replacement
Introduce a sin bin in football
If possible for the fans to see on the big screen decisions regarding VAR.

The offside rule was introduced to prevent goal hanging. I’m not convinced that its abolition would help but, in keeping with the original purpose of the rule, I’d like to see an end to VAR taking two or three minutes to decide whether a player was a few millimetres offside.

The current handball rule absolutely has to change.

Originally it had to be a "deliberate" handball to result in a foul (think Suarez at 2010 World Cup). So how on earth can the ball being blasted at you from 1 yard with zero time to react seem fair? Why on earth the handball rule was tinkered with makes zero sense.

And the issue is not at all with VAR. VAR just makes it easier to spot this ABSURD rule.

Haha I get this but then you'd still have the Belarusian or Hungarian champions popping up whilst the likes of Barcelona, Man City & Dortmund stay at home and this competition should be showcasing the best club teams. There's only 6 leagues at most which could provide a top team.

They should change the name of the competition back to the European Cup.

Has the rule come in yet to allow for special use of extra substitutes for concussions or other head injuries? I know it was talked about.
