Rowing heats got underway today! No medals awarded yet I don't think but I've just seen the heats for the Women's Eights, the British team looked alarmingly off the pace.

Tokyo 2020 Olympics organisers have cancelled two days of rowing with adverse weather conditions expected to hit Japan's capital.

Caught some of the surfing in the highlights today - certainly an interesting sport! Interesting how it works as a knock-out competition as opposed to how other sports ranked on style worked. One of the surfers snapping his board halfway through though

Well the previous events I tuned in to watch all went well for us but no such luck with the rowing just now - we looked in a decent position for the silver but completely fell apart in the last quarter, nearly crashed into the Italians (!) and ended up in 4th, in an event that we won in each of the last 5 Olympics. </3 (another 4th place in rowing just before that as well but that one I don't think was one we were expected to do amazingly in)
edit: but now a better result in the third rowing final of the day (men's quadruple sculls) as we managed a silver, hooray! GB's first time ever getting a medal in this particular event in fact so that somewhat makes up for the disappointment just before. |

Good to see a first medal for Team GB in the rowing! A shame to see so many 4th places though, especially with the near-crash in the men's quad.

Two more fourth places in the rowing to add to the various others from yesterday We do at least get a silver from Mallory Franklin in the Canoe Slalom!

Great to see a gold medal for the Irish pair in the rowing. That's now a gold and bronze for Skibbereen rowing club at these games to add to their silver in Rio.

If Great Britain don't win a gold in the rowing at all, it would bee the first time since Moscow 1980 that they haven't at an Olympic Games.

And we finish off with a bronze in the Men's Eight. A real surprise to not get any golds after such a dominant performance in previous Olympics!

Fabulous for her! My knowledge of sailing isn't great but we seem to be in a good position in all of the events so hopefully some more medals come soon!

Well, more medals were indeed to come as sailing provided both of our gold medals for today and another silver as well! I watched some of the sailing in 2012 (I tried to make sure to watch at least some of all of the sports that year since the coverage was there for all of them) and found it to be one of the least interesting sports to watch so I haven't gone back to it since but hey, if we do well in it then I'm all for it. x |

Yeah not sure I could watch an entire race but I'll happily take the 30-second recap in the highlights Great to see the medals flowing in!
