Mel B and Murphy to wed
According to reports Eddie Murphy will wed former Spice Girl Mel B in September. Yes, you did read that correctly.
The pair met at a Beverly Hills party last month and after a whirlwind romance have already booked the plush Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles for their "dream wedding".
Mel and Hollywood star Murphy, who is 14 years her senior, are planning an intimate ceremony for friends and family.
Both Mel and Eddie have been married before. Mel had a three-year marriage with dancer Jimmy Gulzar, which ended in 2001, while Murphy divorced Nicole Mitchell Murphy, his wife of 12 years, in May.
A source revealed to the Daily Star: "Mel just wants her and Eddie.
"But they will be inviting their friends to a lavish wedding breakfast reception at the venue afterwards."

If this is true, I am actually really amazed! I didn't think anything of it when I heard they were together because celebrity couples happen all the time and never last long. I didn't think marriage would be in the equation!
Bloody..Hell..
FAST
Obviously Eddie has fallen for Mel's Zig-a-zig aah!
I never even knew they were together.
As this article was from the Daily Star, i wouldn't take it too seriously.
thats her career saved for another while and also her bank balance,i hope it last tho,how many times has eddie been married before?
Didn't they only start dating, like, last week?! She must really need the cash
Man, is she clever or what! LOLOL
Mel B 'enjoyed lesbian relationship'
Friday, April 27 2007, 10:07 BST
DigitalSpy.com By Nick Levine, Entertainment Reporter
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown reportedly enjoyed a two-year relationship with a woman.
The singer is said to have ended the romance with a film executive known only as Christine because she did not want to settle down.
Brown's friend Christa Parker told Closer: "Mel told me they'd split because Christine wanted more commitment."
Parker also claimed that she enjoyed a brief romance with the pop star, saying: "We had drunk quite a lot and it was late, so Mel suggested I stay over.
"Mel started complaining that she hadn't had sex for a while and was feeling horny. Mel said she needed sex and asked me if I wanted to. I'd had a bit to drink and said yes."
Brown has previously said of her sexuality: "People can call me lesbian, bisexual or heterosexual, but I know who's in my bed and that's it - I have a huge libido and a great sex life."
Any Comments?
LOL. Shame this publicity cant seem to translate into public popularity for Mel.
LOL go mel
Did anybody see it on the news today Yay she has well and truely got her own back on eddie murphy
will have to look on youtube
loved the
"we've seen you in the movies, now we'll see you in court" bit
i cnt find it anywhere lol
I would have loved to have seen that.
i hope utube get it
I loved how in the bits they showed on ITV News, Mel B was giving a heartfelt appeal to all the dads out there to support their kids and that brutish lawyer woman butts in and goes 'Mr Murphy, we'll see ya in court!'
After all this, I just hope the child has a great childhood. Having Mel as a mom, I'm sure that'll be a sure thing

It has been confirmed that Mel B is a contestant on the US Dancing With The Stars!

Won't that clash with the tour?!
well at least she will be extra fit for the tour
Mel B Cha Cha Cha - Dancing With the Stars, Week 1
Tue, 25 September 2007
Melanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, prepares to take the stage on the hit ABC show Dancing With The Stars on Monday.
Her new husband, Stephen Belafonte, turned up to support his wife in the dance competition. Belafonte began swaying his hips in response to Mel B’s sneak peak dance routine. When asked if Stephen, whom she married in June, also dances, Mel B purred to OK! “For me, at nighttime, he does!”
Pictured below: 8-year-old Phoenix Chi and her 5-month-old baby Angel Iris.
Watch Mel B's Cha Cha Cha from Monday’s episode of Dancing With the Stars. Not too shabby!
WHAT DO YOU THINK of Scary Spice’s first dance on DWTS?

I'm gonna wait to watch it on friday on UKTV gold , but thanks for posting, I hope she does well.
ya hope she does well also, looks like we have plenty of spice action coming up to keep us going
Wow she was really good!!!
Mel B has been criticised for demanding a £10K fee to take part in a festive fundraiser, according to a report.
The Spice Girl made an appearance at Selfridges in London this week, singing festive songs and collecting donations from members of the public for the Make a Wish Foundation, which helps terminally ill children.
Before the event, Mel's US agents International Creative Management had negotiated the £10K payment for her trouble - which led to her being branded a Scrooge at the store.
"All Mel B did was sing a couple of Christmas songs, sign autographs and mingle with the crowd collecting donations in a plastic bucket," a Selfridges insider told the News of the World. "And for that she pocketed £10,000 that should have gone to needy kids.
"Many people felt she should have waived her fee. It's the least she could have done to help raise cash for the kids."
"Everyone was thrilled when Mel B agreed to appear," the source added. "With the Spice Girls in town for their tour it was a real coup to get her. It's shameful shoppers gave up their hard-earned cash yet here was a Spice Girl giving nothing."
Mel's agents ICM initially refused to comment on the newspaper's story. However, the singer's representatives have since had a rethink and announced that her fee will be donated to kids' hospitals in America.
Digitalspy
i wonder how true this is
Even if it is true - is she wasnt there they would of made no money - they made money cos she made an apperence and was trying to get money from the big crowd...there would of been no big crowd without her
I read in one of the Sunday newspapers that the new Mel B album features a duet with Emma Bunton! Sooooooooooooo excited!
Emma has done a couple of backing vocals for her in the past hasnt she? Hope its a stomper and not a sickly ballad
hmmm could be interesting haha
cud be interesting as a single release also
oooh could be good!!
must keep an eye out over here! or import it
Oh wow Good idea! I'm definitely looking forward to this, I hope it's not just backing though!
Hmmm. Very interesting.
Oooh.
anymore news on this??
Mel B's assets enhanced by Branson?
Source: uk.news.yahoo.com
Former Spice Girl Mel B seeks plastic surgery to enhance her chest in a new cinema advert.
The animated commercial puts Scary Spice back into her trademark leopard print catsuit.
Gesturing at her chest, the Leeds-born singer, 33, tells a German plastic surgeon she wants to make a "big impression in Hollywood".
The surgeon - Sir Richard Branson in disguise - prescribes a movie service from Virgin Media to help her "stand out from zee udders".
Mel B said: "I'm over the moon with my animated alter ego and the advert really made me giggle. It's definitely fresh and original".
Mel B married film producer Stephen Belafonte in Las Vegas last summer following a whirlwind romance as he helped her over her split with actor Eddie Murphy.
The couple live in the Hollywood Hills with Mel B's daughters Phoenix Chi, nine, and Angel, 16 months.
Mel B found fresh fame in the US when she came second last year on the TV hit Dancing with the Stars.
Mel B swears on Live & Kicking
I just bought it and it really kills you! Deffo a good workout lol! Mel's really entertaining through it so it helps keep you motivated.

ITV1 program about people in poor housing in Leeds, and Mel B is one of the celebs staying with them. Anyone watched this on Tuesday?
I did. It was a very good show.
Mel should kick tyrone's butt he's so lazy.
Yeah I've been watching it, its really good, and I love Mel!
I don't think she did the best job out of all the celebrities to be honest!
She just disappeared in the evening to the gym and then didn't come back til late, could she seriously not live without the gym just for 7 days for the programme, no one else did it!
And what was with the giving a gym membership to the family, I'm sure the family had more important priorities than a gym membership and would have appreciated something more worthwhile!!!
Performance of the song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gY_tryIn6u8
It sounds good
Songs sounds like it could be quite good.
Very generic though, could be anyone. In fact it doesn't even sound like her lol and there's so much auto tune.
Oh dear.
A thread to post random news & chat about Mel B!
Queen of X Factor xo
Every week she looks so good at AGT! Love her as a judge too
It's great and so interesting to see her change her looks and outfits every season. Some of them are really cool and some others are really awful.
Mel is never boring, and I think that's what keeps me interested in her so much. You either get her or you don't.
Messy Spice part 3018389:
So many different looks recently!
^^ And they're all absolutely horrendous. If only she put this much effort into her music.
Haaa, chance would be a fine thing
I do wonder once all her court drama is over whether she'll consider getting back to the studio. Crazy that it's already been 4 years since For Once In My Life.
Big congrats to Mel B's golden buzzer Darcy. She won the AGT finale.
Mel at a charity gala with her mother, Andrea:
Mel was estranged from her family for many years, so it's lovely to see them close again this year.
^^ill never get tired of seeing them together!
So nice to see Mel's close to her family again. It'll be easier for her to move on from everything she's been through.
I just hope all the divorce controversy dies away, and the ex keeps his dirty movies to himself.
I know she's not Mother Theresa. But he's clearly a nasty piece of work to make such threats.
Mel makes a cameo at the end of the infamous Anime video "Spice Girl."
So far I believe she's had a cameo in 3 music videos.
Oh Mel, have some standards in what you appear in.
A heartfelt post from Mel: https://www.instagram.com/p/BaY2xHElfV3/
Bless her.
More drama - tonnes of sex tapes and she's now claiming Steven kept her drugged during their marriage:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5018099/Mel-B-appears-20-sex-tapes-used-divorce-trial.html
This is going to get messier, isn't it?
Ok the victim blaming stops here! Posts like that are the reason people won't speak out about them being abused.
Don't wanna see them here again!

Yipppppeeee thank you WME!!!In the words of Eartha Kitt “I stayed on my path and did not follow the herd,I MADE away for myself, one of the things I sell and STILL own is MY talent.

William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, LLC, also known as William Morris Endeavor, WME or WME-IMG, is an American talent agency with offices in Beverly Hills, California, United States.
I read some Italian news report she has signed with a Warner to release an album too.
I fear the Warner thing might be crossed wires (i.e. misinterpreting WME as being WMG).
From what I see it's just someone misinterpreted the acronym for WME assuming it was warner Music and Entertainment or something. And WME is a talent agency, not a record label, so this wouldn't necessarily mean new music.
I really hope I'm wrong, but for the moment I'm keeping cautious.
It's been a long, tumultuous journey filled with battles over custody, spousal support and even sex tapes ... but Mel B and Stephen Belafonte are officially divorced. According to new legal docs ... a judge granted the dissolution of their marriage as of December 15. All that's left to work out now is the division of their property. (Source: TMZ)
Mel B's latest Instagram post:
After my fathers death nothing could touch me anymore,
For example, Ive felt all morning I have the devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear “ your not strong enough to handle the storm “ so after I finished my morning routine, cooking my kids breakfast and feeding my two frenchies and my 2 fainting goats thought hold on a minute stop 🛑 then I started yelling back to this diablo “ I AM the frigging storm “ boom.
People often say to me (amongst other things haha but I will address those things in another post) ,”oh Mel B your so strong”and I have to think to myself, yes I am strong, but listen I’m only strong because I’ve been incredibly weak and during that weak time I taught myself how to access my inner strength, and I did, listen In my life I have been through many different situations that not many people know about,Ive have been close to death literally and paralyzed with fear which in due course over time has made me fearless extremely fearless,Some say “oh that Mel B is Spontaneous and CRAZY” plzzzzz,to that I say nooooooo,it’s called living in your truth and following your inner voice and trusting and believing that you are guided even when logic would say otherwise.
I use to think I was the strangest person in the world, then I thought, come on now there are so many people in the world, there must be some people out there just like me who think like me and aren’t afraid to feel they feel bizarre and flawed in exactly the same way I do,and embrace it,I would imagine and still do there are many people out there thinking just like me and are exactly like me too. So I hope and pray if your out there and you need this message, yes it’s true,I’m here and we all find each other at the end of the day, credence and faith. That’s just the ways of the world and the law of attraction. Yes I am different and always will be. I’m not black and I’m not white and I’m not pink and I’m not green. In the words of Earth Kitt “I have no colour” boom,”and that is how barriers are broken.”
So be careful who you invite into your soul, surround yourself with people that are only going to take you higher whether that be spiritually or physically.
Some really shocking accusations from Mel, regarding Stephan: https://theblast.com/mel-b-stephen-belafonte-isis-beheading/

WOW that's cool and so cute
I do feel like she totally rocked it with the boots back in the day. Don't feel like it really goes with those white heeled shoes.
She looks a ROIGHT mess
Mel B wearing a Girl Power dress at AGT:
I miss Mel B's style from 2015. This looks straight cheap and plain silly.
Reminds me of Geri's dress for the Brits, which looked cool in 1997 and suited Geri's cheekyness.
She appears in these videos too, although it doesn't seem like she's focused on much (I've not watched the videos fully, just skimmed through) -

Mel B's second autobiography 'Brutally Honest' is coming out 27th November 2018:
I love Mel B, go her!
Nice to see a strong liberated woman!
I want her to do Tell Me 2.0
Front cover picture revealed:
I'll be buying that!
Brutally Honest? As if! Telling Lies would have been much more apt.
I wonder which genre it will be. Fiction, maybe?
Melanie Brown ?
If you told the person on the street that Melanie Brown has a book out, they wouldn't know who you mean !
She's good looking, but I don't like the photo or the pose either.
Mel B statement:
“The past six months have been incredibly difficult for me.I’ve been working with a writer on my book, Brutally Honest, and it has been unbelievably traumatic reliving an emotionally abusive relationship and confronting so many massive issues in my life from the death of my dad to my relationship with men.
I've also been through more than a year of court battles which have left me finacially battered and at the mercy of the legal system which is ocmpletely weighted against emotionally abused women because it's very hard to prove how someone took away all your self-respect and self-worth.
I am being very honest in my book about drinking to numb my pain but that is just a way a lot of people mask what is really going on.Sometimes it is too hard to cope with all the emotions I feel. But the problem has never been about sex or alcohol — it is underneath all that.
I have recently been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and on August 9, after trying many different therapies I started a course of therapy called EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) which in a nutshell works on the memory to deal with some of the very painful and traumatic situations I have been through.I don’t want to jinx it, but so far it’s really helping me. I am fully aware I am at a crisis point.
No-one knows myself better than I do. But I am dealing with it. I love my three girls more than life itself.I have also made the decision to go into a proper therapy programme in the next few weeks, but it has to be in the UK because I am very, very British and I know that will work best for me.
I am still struggling. But if I can shine a light on the issue of pain, PTSD and the things men and women do to mask it, I will do.I am speaking about this because this is a huge issue for so many people.I’m not perfect, and I have never pretended to be.
But I am working on being a better version of myself for my kids, for my family and for all the people who have supported me in my life."
Glad she's spoken out and is getting some help.
She's one brave human being. Coping with all of that in front of the world's media must be extremely challenging.
Most would be tempted to hide away or give up. But she's still working so hard. I'm sure she'll come out the other side much stronger.
That's girl power right there!
So sad for Melanie.....I hope she will recover soon!
Guys I am thinking to build up a Mel's timeline with all her solo projects. What do you think?
Sounds great!

Brutally Honest was released today!
Eddie? Girl, u serious?
tried to get this at Sainsbury's and Add today but no luck.
Apparently it’s sold out everywhere
Bought my copy from Foyles
I'm not loving that hair style at all she looks old like that
Has anyone else read this yet? I finished earlier this week. Spoilers ahead!
Firstly, I have to say the book's structure is quite unusual in that it's not written in any sort of chronological order. One moment you can be reading about Stephen, and then she jumps back to mentioning a situation with Jimmy, and suddenly you're back to her childhood. I think if you were reading it without having much knowledge about Mel to begin with, it'd be a bit of a disorientating read.
The main focus of the book is most certainly on dysfunctional relationships and signs of abuse, so it's understandably quite a heavy read. I'm glad that she has put her side out and explained how she felt/coped/reacted to various moments.
Everything regarding Stephen was my least favourite element of Brutally Honest, although I appreciate that this relationship is essentially the whole point of this book. I have to say, I struggled to ultimately understand why on earth she ever got involved with him, to the extent of marrying him within 2 months of meeting him. She says she felt vulnerable after having her baby and feeling burned by Eddie, but she doesn't give the impression that she loved Stephen in the run up to the marriage taking place. I think she implied that it was a bit of a rebound thing, to send a message to Eddie that she'd moved on. She says she didn't feel attracted to him in the run up to their marriage. The book doesn't really explain properly at what stage she genuinely felt that she was in love with Stephen (and she does say she was in love with him). Idk, the dynamics of their early relationship didn't feel fleshed out enough to get a true understanding of what she saw in him before it all went wrong.
I have to say in regards to her relationship with Stephen, the book does meander around describing rather similar situations between them, throughout... dare I say at points that made for a bit of a boring read. One of two of the scenarios could easily have been cut and you'd still have more than got the impression that their relationship was an awful time for her.
I think what I most enjoyed about the book was regarding her pre-fame years - more about her family/background and her drive/aspirations towards becoming famous. I can't remember to what depth she went into this in her 2002 book, but a lot of it seemed like new information to me! It's a shame she lost contact with her family for so many years... I think us fans knew over the past decade how strange that situation was, the warning signs really were there all along.
There wasn't too much about the Spice Girls really, although what was mentioned was quite interesting - particularly in regards to the 2007/8 reunion and how things ended up being a bit strained between the girls (Stephen being the root of the problem). Mel blames herself for the tour ending early, and she even says that they ended on a low point, rather than them "going out on a high". She takes the opportunity to apologise to the girls over it, so things must have been rather bad between them for her to feel the need to do that. There's also a moment Mel describes that happened on tour which is rather harrowing, I won't spoil that, but it's not nice to think back to that tour and realise that it wasn't a very happy time for her, when it really should have been.
Everything regarding her time with Eddie Murphy was pretty interesting to read, given that she'd never previously discussed him in any great depth beforehand. I'm kind of surprised that she refers to him as being the love of her life (as she has done in TV interviews too), because judging by her account of their time together he was quite unreasonable in certain respects, and then he was cruel to her at the end of the relationship (as we all know, re: him casting doubt on whether Mel's baby was his).
She didn't mention For Once In My Life! ( ). In fact she didn't go into much depth about her solo career at all, a bit about her TV work (although mentions of X Factor and America's Got Talent were more in relation to how her personal life was going while on the shows), but nothing about music.
There was a few typos, and there was one situation that was all wrong in terms of time-frame. I'd have gladly offered my services as a proof reader before this was published!
Overall I enjoyed it, at least as far as you can enjoy a book that describes some pretty horrific circumstances.
Mel B and her daughters in a photo shoot for Hello magazine - https://www.hellomagazine.com/celebrities/2018121665688/mel-b-christmas-exclusive-los-angeles/
I'm getting the book for Christmas. I am looking forward to finding out more of her story.
the typos in this book are outrageous considering the team of people she has behind her...
she also seems to really overplay her relationship with victoria... i know victoria is closer with the girls then the press let on but i feel like in the book, mel really oversaturates.
I'm really enjoying the book so far. I feel so bad for what she has been through. The writer has done a really good job of capturing Mel's essence with the writing.
I feel like the last book captured Mel's essence alot more than this one does. Enjoying the read so far though.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-6784651/JAN-MOIR-Mel-B-right-kind-champion-abused-women.html What a horrible article. What on earth is a "right kind"? Mel's doing great work by sharing her story and petitioning.
SPICE Girl Meb B has signed up to take part in an upcoming episode of ITV’s Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
The singer, 43, is set to open up about her recent acrimonious split from ex husband movie producer Stephen Belafonte, also 43, as well as her relationship with fellow members of the Spice Girls, ahead of their upcoming tour.
Good Morning Britain presenter Piers, 53, is also expected to probe her on her relationship with fashion designer Victoria Beckham, 44, after she snubbed the girlband's much-hyped reunion.
Mum-of-three Mel is also set to open up about her previous relationships, including with Eddie Murphy, 57, her romances with women, her extensive cosmetic surgery and her time in rehab.
A telly source said: "Mel's interview with Piers is set to be explosive, emotional and exciting. She's a live-wire and there's no telling what she'll say, it's going to be a no holds barred chat and she'll give as good as she gets with him.
"Mel feels comfortable with Piers so is happy to open up to him, but he isn't afraid to ask her about things she's previously shied away from, producers know it will be revelatory."
She will also touch upon her tumultuous relationships with her mother Andrea and sister Danielle - both of whom she was estranged from during her marriage to Stephen.

Hate Piers, so probably wont watch it. A total wasteman.
Mel B revealed to Piers that she had a one night stand with Geri... the news is all over the tabloids now. 🙈
This has been sensationalised .
No press is bad press, more tickets being added to Croke park Friday 🙈
Let's make the headlines loud and true LOL
The latter!
I just hope Geri is ok she's so quiet about it .

Mel B interviewed on an Australian radio show (from 36:14)
Glad they're still cool about it
As much as I think it was very wrong of her to say that on national TV without prior consent from Geri, I also don't think she would have done it if the two of them weren't cool about it.
It's still very wrong though, and the way the British press has acted on it is just incredibly homophobic.
Even though this is more about Geri, I'm posting it in this thread because it stems from Mel B/Piers Morgan/the tabloid reaction.
The Daily Mail ran an article yesterday claiming that Geri & Mel B actually had a year long relationship ( https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6868475/The-TRUTH-Geri-Mel-B-lovers-YEAR.html ), and Geri responded to this via a statement:
Daily Mail have framed Geri's official statement as being addressed towards Mel B, even though it's clearly about their salacious article above (see reference to Mother's Day). Unbelievable.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6870859/Geri-Horner-finally-responds-Mel-B-romance-claims-looks-ahead-Spice-Girls-tour.html
It's no wonder the general public can't tell truth from fiction anymore.
Still can't believe Mel B went there though it was really Piers Morgan who instigated it cannot stand him.
I mean. It's Geri's personal life experience...so...she's ultimately entitled to react in whatever way she sees fit. Buuut.
If I were an advisor and confidant...I would have told her to just laugh it off with a "eh, we were young, and it was the 90s!"
I really do believe making light of the story would take away the tabloids' power. I get that the article isn't accurate with the one-year relationship thing. But. Releasing a fairly serious statement? It lets the tabloids know this is getting to her. I think it opens the door to a whole lot more shady articles...wildly speculating that there's bitterness within the group...or that the tour's in jeopardy...etc.
I completely agree, she's (probably inadvertently) fanned the flames
A leaked demo!

Mel B talking to Lorraine this morning:
https://www.itv.com/hub/lorraine/1a9360a2407
She's on about half way through second part. She looks amazing and comes across very well.
No news as such. But there's an interesting video statement from Phoenix about living with Stephen.
Yesterday was Mel B's birthday, which was also the first night at Manchester!
Did anyone watch her on Piers Morgan Life Stories last week? It was a really good episode, she came across incredibly well. She was warm & funny, but there were plenty of emotional moments. I'm so glad she's survived bad experiences and is now having the time of her life on tour.
I feel so happy for Mel & her family that they were able to reconcile. They'll never get back those many years of estrangement, but at least they're making up for it now.
Love Mel and how she has been so fabulously received in the UK again. I only saw clips of the Life Stories interview, as I cannot stand Piers Morgan. But she did come across really well. Good on her and all her success at the moment!

Lots of media outlets beginning to report that Paddy McGuinness has stepped down from Celebrity Juice as team captain due to "scheduling conflicts", with the reports saying Mel B is the replacement!! This is mega exciting news, I LOVE Celebrity Juice and Mel has always been absolutely hilarious when appearing on it before!
Yay fabulous news I love that show, and it's a good gig for her. Am a bit shocked it's her and not Emma since Emma is such good friends with Holly and Leigh Francis...
Ps that gif I've never noticed Melanie C's facial expression in that scene before I always watch Mel B... hilarious
great news, can't wait to see these episodes!
Has anyone been watching? 2 episodes have been shown so far. She's a great fit for the show
So in an unexpected turn of events (maybe since the plans for more Spice Girls project have now been cancelled lol), it turns out that Mel B has mentioned in a radio interview this morning that she was in the studio recently working on her own music.
As ever, TAKE IT WITH A LARGE PINT OF SALT!!
Ohhh I would be happy if she really does give it another go! I can't even imagine at this stage what sort of sound she'd go for. Bring it on
I'd love to see a second Missy Elliot duet. A dream scenario would be Lizzo too. But I guess that's incredibly unlikely. Unless she happens to be a massive Spice fan
I could totally see her going for a pop/r'n'b sound but with some UK rappers attached to the songs. She mentioned Stormzy recently, and that would be great of course.
Happy birthday Mel!
So we've heard a big fat NOTHING about that recorded music lol... you know Mel she talks so much crap she probably made it up.
OMG
Everyone trying to process Joseph's favourite Melanie C single being This Time:
Mel B has quit her role as team captain on Celebrity Juice, with a source citing a "hectic work schedule" as the reason!
!!!
Yes, Melanie. A hectic schedule touring the world and that 😉
Well she hasn't got any other on going jobs so unless she has got something else up her sleeve it looks like Mel is looking to be very dedicated to a certain project next year.
Tbh Celebrity Juice is kinda dead, it's just not as funny as it used to be and I don't think the ratings are great these days. It's not a catastrophic loss for her.
I'm glad, that show was bad as hell... And she wasnt even that funny in it either
FYI Celeb juice is Oct-March contract and Mel B wont be in the UK in February/march she will be as far away as you can get from the UK with the kangaroos if the next couple of months go to plan.
Shame as it was a steady gig for her but tbh I don't think she was that great on it anyway, she was the most unlikable judge they've ever had really, her constant eye rolling and acting annoyed just didn't really suit the show. Although I have to say those home filmed episodes she really shone on and was fantastic on those ones.
Mel B looks amazing in her new Instagram post.
She does look amazing!!
Mel B looks amazing in her new Instagram post.
She does I just hope that look and her being 'back' isn't wasted on some crappy tv show or TV advert or something low rent.
No she’s just signed a multi million record contract.
Scary is back for Halloween 👻
She might have filmed or recorded something for the channel 4 documentary next year to celebrate Wannabes anniversary.
She looks like she is at home so having a crew round filming her talking head part might have happened.
Speaking of the channel 4 documentary, channel 4 had the Brits 97 performance pulled from YouTube recently that a fan had uploaded in 4k. The Brits has always been an ITV show so channel 4 must have the rights for it now I'm assuming for the documentary.
Mel's looking stunning Glad she's seemingly made a return to social media!
She is looking incredible indeed! Wonder what it's for or if she was just dressing up at home.
She looks so good
Mel is on Michael McIntyre's The Wheel show, 8:30pm!
I'm watching it, a bit naff but nice to see Mel B on TV again.
Her commentary was a load of nonsense though she claimed that they had a pattern when writing songs and Emma and Mel C would start their songs
Wannabe - Mel B
Who do you think you are - Geri
Naked - Geri
If u can't dance - Mel B
Spice up your life - All
Stop - Geri
Too Much - Mel B
Never give up on the good times - Geri
Saturday night divas - All
Move over - All
The lady is a vamp -Geri
Holler - Mel B
Tell me - Mel B?
Right back at ya - All
If u wanna have some fun - Mel B
Weekend love - Victoria?? (I'm not actually sure)
Cannot get over how amazing Mel B looks on this show
She looked fabulous and was fun Lol at the Emma/Melanie C begin their songs thing.
I think she meant they were the first ones to lay down the voices and provide ground work for the songs with their singing. Remember the Forever producers were really complimentary of their voices and how they worked songs around Emma's voice as well.
Maybe that's what she meant? They lay down the songs once they are written and then the others jump on top?
This is a TV show Mel B was probably told to waffle a bit and be a bit unsure build some tension. If she had said 'we toured last year Mel C starts 2 become 1 I can hear and see it in my head' it wouldn't have been very dramatic or suspenseful.
Glad to see Mel back again, she's beautiful more than ever now
She's hosting the second Season of a show called The Fashion Hero.
She don't half take some random jobs but glad to see her back working.
Finally her dream show... bit of a kick in the teeth to America’s Got Talent 😂
Melanie's solo career really is the saddest one for me, as she has so much talent wasted on these pointless endeavours...
Good luck to her, I hope she has fun and bring her a few more coins. But I do hope she gets to do better in the future.
I've been reading some comments on Twitter that Mel mentioned on the radio today that Glastonbury has been cancelled this year I can't find the clip myself, but we can always trust on Mel for spilling things that no one knows about yet.
She really needs a padlock on that mouth of hers sometimes.
I think the best we can hope for this year is something to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Spice in November.
Girlfriend has all the (inaccurate) gossip. x
For what it's worth, I know KSI's manager and he's said to me it's cancelled unfortunately! Or at least unless there are some major developments, but they usually get ready for it quite early in the year.
So it seems that Glastonbury weren't ready to confirm this, and are perhaps annoyed that Mel B has talked about it before they gave official word on it? I wonder why they're wanting to hold off confirming the cancellation?
I'm assuming it is a money decision as to not reveal the cancellation. I mean Melanie C and Little Mix have tours scheduled for April/May and haven't been cancelled. It's all about money.
Melanie C said that her team will be told in January what is going on regarding the tour.
Sod all to do with money.
I guess now its going to be delayed!!
Of course it is about money. They are trying to ensure that people dont cancel their tickets and their insurance keeps things rolling. The later, the better for them but the worse for the fans...
It's obvious that things wont be back to normal by April in the UK, and probably not till end of Summer anyway, the way things are going here...
screaming that media correspondant melanie b is at it again...
Glastonbury has now been officially cancelled
Mel B right now:
I honestly think Mel B never lies she just jumps the gun. I can see them sending 4 messages about the possibility of say new music and Mel B is on a talk show the next day and says they are going to record new music hopefully. It then never materialises and she looks bad.
Uhhh. I think Mel B...mostly...jumps the gun. But there have been cases I'd consider...wishful thinking.
I can't remember the literal litany of things Mel B has claimed over the years. But I could give a few that I don't think were ever truly in the cards. In 2001, she claimed the group would continue releasing Forever singles in 2002. Knowing the behind-the-scenes of this now, this definitely wasn't ever true. After the first reunion tour, Mel claimed she was recording a song with Janet Jackson and that she'd join her on tour. Janet's reps basically laughed this off as absurd. (she also said she was working with Missy again during this time...but I'll accept that as more plausible) Then, there was Mel's claim that the full group would be at the royal wedding.
Anyway. A lot of it's harmless. Mel claiming GEM is about to choose and release their single may not...totally be in the pipeline, but it raises her profile for a moment. Nobody (except for fans) seem to remember those claims or hold her to it. But. Stuff like the Janet Jackson and royal wedding claims are so easily disprovable...I think its a little embarrassing. I also have to assume it's not great for the group dynamics that nothing can be discussed in private without Mel telling it to the world (...like the announcement to an entire stadium about an Australian tour)
See you absolutely have no idea what went on behind the scenes about the Royal wedding.
Victoria 'I've been invited to the royal wedding'
Simon 'It would be amazing press if you all went together, I'll put feelers out to see if that is possible'
All the other girls 'yes please I'll be there if we can go'
This sort of thing could easily be emailed behind the scenes.
I think she has no filter and often borderlines on delusional.
Let's not forget Mel B mentioning the royal wedding caused the GH to rechart in the top 200 that week.
I often feel they could be a bit more proactive on their personal social media pushing Spice girls stuff. Mel C has gotten good at this lately and Emma too.
It’s was great to see Mel in the news today but really sad about the circumstances (talking about the abuse she went through in her last marriage). The film looked very emotional and distressing but an important film and hopefully it will help raise awareness and money for the charity
^ It's very harrowing, in that sense it's hard to watch A really well made video though and a very important message. Well done Mel (and very brave of her to do this this considering how painful it must be to relive her experiences through acting):
Wow. Raw and beautiful. Proud of her for giving this truthful, heart-wrenching performance.
The interwoven scene of the dance and the violent struggle is particularly powerful.
Very intense. Must have been difficult for Melanie to film with it being so close to home for her. Very proud of her.
Very powerful! Good on Mel for doing this!
Just seen the full video and basically echo all the other comments here. It’s very emotional and the statistic at the end was the scariest part. The dance scene really highlights the way these abusers act in public vs behind closed doors.
Nice to see Geri supporting Mel B’s film in her Instagram story
The video was powerful and hit the point home hard.
Not the point of it but it reminds you how talented Mel is.
Such a bold, powerful move. Mel is indeed a great actor when she puts her mind to it and is well directed.
It is really great all the work she does for the charity, she hasnt really stopped since 2018 and hope it has been a successful endeavour
Mel B is getting a lot of praise on Twitter in regards to her GMB interview talking about domestic violence which is a horrible thing for anyone to go through, I couldn’t imagine. But I’m glad there’s at least some positivity towards her interview, rather than people slagging her off just for the sake of it.
Glad that people are praising Mel because she's being brave, but also powerful with talking about this and spreading awareness. I'm very proud of her! Here's the full interview:
She and the the girls should wrote an abuse survivor anthem.
Happy birthday to Mel B, 46 years old today!
Love her and glad she has all her kids around for her birthday 🥳
Lovely to see all the girls wishing her happy bday and to see her reunite with all 3 her kids.
Nice to see all 4 (5 if you include Mel herself) have posted for her birthday!
What lovely pics!

Meh, I probably shouldn't pay any attention to this... but him taking cheap shots at Mel B, the mother of his child, on Instagram... ew. That's not a good look. He couldn't simply post pictures of himself and his daughter without the loaded captions? This must be so hurtful for Mel.
Ewwww don't post him in here
Nor Daily Hate Mail links
It's tactics for the courts and the public, basically. Horrific man. Even if that is true, why would you do that to your child?
At least Mel can visit/see her now. The fact that she was barred from seeing her own child for so long was disgusting
I know he is vile, and he is more than happy to take Mel's money to pay for it all too which is even more vile!
I hope Madison doesn't get affected mentally by this whole situation. Disgusting man.
Don’t you former spice girl me!!!
But good for her hope it is successful.
Spice Girl Mel B works with the Wellness App to record two intimate stories and help people fall asleep

Random x
I'll pass on that. Please get a better agent Mel.
Thats very random for Mel, not something you would expect her to be involved in but she is probably getting paid very well.
Mel B is unfortunately getting bad press across all of the trashy tabloids, regarding the question she asked on An Audience with Adele TV special that wasn't aired... press going with the "Mel B axed from special due to inappropriate question that was an awkward-as-hell moment which no one laughed at" angle. Funny thing is that the day after the taping, it was reported what she'd said, but it wasn't given such a negative spin then.
A shame the press has it in for Mel at times. I don't get the angle they've gone with about her question being "inappropriate for a family show". Adele literally said, when she messed up the intro of a song - "start again, I'm shitting myself"... so family friendly...
^ What was her question?
The UK press, specially when it comes to black people:
That is actually hilarious I love it Trust the press to put a negative spin on it, they really have it in for our girls.
Mel B is just an easy target for the UK press.
Its a very Mel B thing to do to be fair to her, press just using the story to fill space.
Not sure whether this picture was previously seen before this month, but it was shared in an article about photographs of the 1990s gay scene; Mel B out clubbing in 1992:

Edit: This was posted in May this year! -
Quite a few news reports today stating that Mel B is to receive an MBE for her services to domestic violence charities. How fantastic if so a real achievement!
Ive seen this online.
I love Mel B and everything she has done both in music and in charity, specially her support for victims of sexual and domestic abuse, so good for her.
A part of me is still very disappointed that any of these girls will accept anything from the British monarchy and empire, so I am afraid I wont be able to celebrate this.
Good for Mel B.
Congratulations Mel B Very proud of her for being able to do something positive after suffering such a horrific few years & doing all she can to help others in the same situations. She’s very deserving
as a Proud Brit and Royalist, I am thrilled for Mel!
All the girls deserve this for their service to entertainment and culture anyway, but im so pleased she is getting recognised for her work for this important cause.
I love how the girls are always so supportive with each other when things like this happen, it's lovely to see.
Well apart from Victoria who hasn't acknowledged it... then again I don't remember Mel acknowledging hers either...
My MBE queen *.*
❤️
That picture and post says so much, it truly captures the heart.
❤️
So lovely, so proud of her !
Mel B has been filming a new show with Ruby Wax and Emily Atack, a new travel series called Trailblazers:
She looks great, super happy for her and proud. She seems pretty in demand right now with the travel show and The Circle.
She looks lovely so proud of her 😍
I also saw some clips of Melanie on Sky News. So proud of her
What a moment for her!
Such a beautiful moment for her and LOVE she was wearing a Victoria dress as well.
Lovely to see Mel with Victoria and their mothers celebrating the MBE in both girl's stories
Surely a Spice combo I had wanted to see in a picture together in a long while.
AS he handed Mel B her MBE at Buckingham Palace, Prince William joked: “Now can you get the Spice Girls back together?”
But Mel, 46, stressed the gong was awarded for her work as patron of domestic violence charity Women’s Aid, not music.
The singer started with the charity after walking out of her abusive ten-year marriage to TV producer Stephen Belafonte, 46, in 2017.
After receiving her MBE yesterday, she told The Sun: “William told me, ‘I’m so delighted that it’s me giving you this’.
"And he asked, ‘Will you get the Spice Girls back together?’. I told him I was having dinner with Victoria that evening and he said, ‘Oh good, I’ll work on David then’.”
Mel was accompanied to the palace by her proud mum Andrea and the pair both wore dresses by Spice Girl turned designer Victoria Beckham.
Mel’s former bandmate even flew back from Miami so she could personally handpick their outfits.
But in true Scary Spice style, cheeky Mel quipped that she was “stark, b****ck naked” underneath the figure-hugging red dress. She said: “Victoria asked me, ‘Will you wear nipple covers? I said, ‘Why bother?’.
“When it came to the part where Prince William had to pin the MBE on, he asked for a female official to do it. I didn’t think I had that much cleavage on show!”
Melanie added how during her days as a Spice Girl, she often saw young Princes William and Harry as they were growing up.
She recalled: “I remember once around the time the Spice World movie came out we were helicoptered into Highgrove and we hung out with them, eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
“I think William thought I was receiving the MBE for being a Spice Girl, but I told him that it was for my work on domestic violence. He wanted to hear all about it.
“In fact, I felt guilty holding up the queue because we spent so long talking. I told him I had been in an abusive marriage for ten years, which I finally got out of by the skin of my teeth.
“And then I wrote a book all about it and became a patron for Women’s Aid. I told him that when I wrote my autobiography, people were not really talking about things like coercive control, that it was a dark, taboo topic. I explained that I often visit a women’s refuge in Leeds near where I live.
“He said, ‘That must be really fulfilling for you to talk about it and help women’. I said that my story is exactly like so many of the women’s I meet and that I managed to get out and survive.
“It was a really good conversation and a very special moment for me." The investiture was the first to be held at Buckingham Palace since the pandemic.
And Mel’s former Spice bandmates flooded her with congratulatory messages on her big day. Sporty Spice Mel C sent her a funny video, in which she cheekily wears a T-shirt with Mel B’s face on it and jokes they “must have sent the MBE to the wrong Melanie”.
She added: “I’m so proud of you. I know everything you have been through and to do so much for other people is amazing.”
Meanwhile, Emma Bunton congratulated Mel on her “Motor Boating Extreme” award and said: “Your strength and resilience is always something I have aspired to — and I get to call you my best mate.”
And Geri Horner sent a video in which she said: “What you have achieved is amazing. Hope you have an amazing time.”
Mel said it was especially poignant to take her mum as her guest to the palace because during her marriage to Belafonte he forced her to cut herself off from her family.
She added: “I missed my family for so many years and I just want them to be part of this moment. Although, my mum has driven me mad, panicking about not having a hat and worrying about her curtsey.
“She kept looking around in Buckingham Palace, saying, ‘It’s like Downton Abbey, I wish I had my phone’. But we’ve had a laugh.”
Mel was also accompanied to London by her 15-year-old daughter Angel, whose father is Hollywood actor Eddie Murphy, 61. But one family member she wishes could have been there to see her big moment is her dad, Martin, who died in 2017 following a long battle with bone marrow cancer.
It was during her last conversation with him as he lay dying that she vowed to quit her marriage. She said: “It was the last thing I said to him. I said I would leave my husband and did so within a month.
‘Girl Powerless’
“My dad worked in a factory all his life and I would have loved him to be here. When I received the letter to tell me I was being awarded an MBE, I drove to his grave and stood there over his headstone crying, telling him his daughter was getting an MBE.”
Mel is also mum to daughter Phoenix, 23 — who is currently filming reality TV show The Games — and ten-year-old Madison, her daughter with Belafonte.
When she reflects on the journey that brought her to Buckingham Palace, the former X Factor judge says there are times she can barely believe she survived.
She explained: “I have felt really calm and peaceful today, but really it is surreal. I was a Spice Girl, I stood for Girl Power. But then I met a man who swept me off my feet, who I thought was Prince Charming, but I became Girl Powerless.
“He destroyed my confidence, isolated me from my friends and family and made me feel useless and ugly, like I was better off dead.
“But I have had to work on myself and face up to what happened. It is tempting to block it out, but that does no good. I spoke up and got out of my horrendous marriage and have tried to help other women, and men, who are going through abuse.”
But the legacy of abuse still looms large in her life. She added: “There are so many triggers, like when I arrived in my hotel room the night before going to the palace, I had to close all the curtains because I always feel like someone could be watching.
“I am always looking around me. I used to flinch when people came to hug me.”
Mel began her campaigning work after being introduced to Women’s Aid by The Sun.
For the past 20 years we have campaigned on behalf of domestic violence survivors to change laws and safeguard funding for shelters and refuges.
Yesterday, The Sun threw a bash at London hotel Claridge’s in conjunction with Women’s Aid to celebrate Melanie’s MBE.
As patron of the charity, Mel has raised money and awareness, and even helped former Prime Minister Theresa May shape legislation to help survivors who face financial hardship.
She said: “An army of women stand behind me today. I accepted the MBE on behalf of them.
“This MBE is not for me, Mel B the Spice Girl, it’s for me, Melanie Brown, the mixed-race, working-class girl from Leeds who went through an abusive marriage then spoke about the very worst thing that happened in her life.”

The article really made me emotional. As a fan I couldn’t be prouder. Well done, Melanie
It was a nice moment between Mel and Victoria.
So nice to see them together
Really really really nice to see them together, it was clearly Stephan that caused the problems for many years, so glad Mel has ditched him.
Seeing Vic and Mel together again in this way warms my heart so much
Not sure if anyone is watching the games with Pheonix competing?
Mel was in the crowd and Phoenix came second in the hurdles.

Love her!
Who would have thought Mel B would end up the most rounded and best of the girls at this stage. She seems to be living a simple life now, passionate about her charities and doing her solo gigs that are no harm to anyone.
Im glad she does a lot of charity and activist work, but yeah she does not live a 'simple life' at all, she is a multi-millionaire who travels the world for work and pleasure.
Love is blind as far as the eye can see
I’m not even justifying the cretin by looking at it
When I say simple life, I mean she isn't walking red carpets for the opening of an envelope. Her bf isn't famous and private life is just that now private.
She seems to have struck a great balance between being famous enough to get solo jobs but also keep a nice simple life away from that.
I like her insta isn't constant adverts or selling something like so many celebs these days and even Emma and Mel C fall into doing those awful paid advert posts sometimes.
Mel B is one of the guest judges on RuPaul's Drag Race UK Season 4! https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch6rvaXIoRT/?hl=en
i pray there's a lip sync to Tell Me. I'm sorry but it's just undeniably a great song.
I can see the Queens lip-sync to For Once In My Life
That song is actually about empowerment and would work perfectly as a queer anthem
Billboard: https://www.billboard.com/culture/tv-film/mel-b-jamie-lynn-spears-special-forces-ultimate-test-fox-1235135738/
From my perspective the premise of the show sounds far from glamorising what it is? It sounds like it’ll be hellish, and as far removed from their comfort zones as they could possibly be. Rather Mel than me!!
My main gripe is the association with Jamie Lynn, who I really don’t care for, but meh.
Mel was left in a difficult position financially after her divorce (at least relatively to a celebrity at her level). In recent years she’s clawed it back through doing numerous projects. Clearly she has to keep getting these good pay cheques from reality shows to maintain it. This is far from being the easiest one she could have signed up for.
After her lawsuits, let Mel B make some money since the tours are still on hold. She’s usually the one where the press reported that being on a verge of bankruptcy.
I confess I really don’t understand the big deal about this, but anyway… I doubt I’ll watch anyway because it’s extra effort to find links & I don’t tend to have much of an interest in their reality TV endeavours anyway. I really doubt there’ll be a peep of controversy regarding her doing this. The UK has a reality show with pretty much the same concept.
I’m not a royalist but I don’t think it’s morally wrong for Mel to express sorrow & respect for the Queen, from the perspective of a UK citizen, which Mel B is. I’d rather her express how she genuinely feels, than hide it in order to appease a percentage of people.
Mel B doesn't really strike me as being the most educated or knowledgeable when it comes to these things, this interview clip alone suggests that to me:
Urgh, yes this is why they were constantly taken to task on their feminism and girl power. Whilst there is no doubt they believe in the power of women, there was very to little nuance to their stance, at least from most of them. Mel is not a singular case in the group of course, much to the contrary.
I know this is from 26 years ago, but Mel B said this in 1996 in the infamous Spectator interview.
Mel B: "We shouldn't be prejudiced against any background, poor or aristocratic. The middle class are the worst. We like the aristocrats'.
A lot can change in what a person believes in that time, but to me it shows that her looking up to people like the Queen isn't so surprising.
I kind of wish she'd been asked to expand on her sentiment about the middle class being the worst! Particularly as that seemed to immediately contradict her saying that people shouldn't be prejudiced to any background.
It is noted that in that same interview, Mel B and Emma expressed pro-European views, directly opposed to Victoria and Geri.
You know I've never actually read that Spectator interview in full, only extracts... I should do that just for the sake of interest.
Emma: “Do I think Margaret Thatcher is the original Spice Girl? Not particularly. My mum is.”
Mel C: “I think Margaret Thatcher is a complete prick.”
Victoria: “Personally I am a Tory.”
Mel B: “I’m an anarchist.”
Lizz: “It was my quote that Margaret Thatcher was a Spice Girl - she was the first advocate of Girl Powder Power.”
I did LOL at the "I'm probably the last person you'd expect to see at a Tory conference and I can't quite believe I am here myself"
Mel B hinting at the fact she is no dirty Tory!
As well as Mel making waves with her tweet to Tory minister Conor Burns, this is also in the news today:
Spice Girl Mel B is left feeling 'violated' as pop icon calls in the police after WhatsApp 'hack' sees cryptocurrency scammers target her friends and family and request fake charity donations
Mel B had to call in police when Whatsapp hackers who sent her family and celebrity friends fake cryptocurrency donation requests left her feeling 'violated'.
Fraudsters pretending to be the former Spice Girl sent messages asking for donations to a charity project to 'help African children dying of thirst'.
The 47-year-old received messages from friends regarding the 'charity' project she was involved in, alerting her to the hacking.
Those who received the Whatsapp messages were asked to donate in cryptocurrency and the scammers even said Bitcoin could be bought for a cheaper prince as a reward for contributing.
A source close to Mel B told the Sunday People that the star knew nothing of the scam and felt 'violated and angry' that someone would go to those lengths and claim it was in the name of charity, as she is known for her charitable ventures.
The messages were sent from a contact called Scary Spice MelB and included kisses and emojis to attempt to trick people into believing it was really her.
The hackers asked people to send money via Binance - a digital currency exchanging site which was subject to a hacking scandal last week that put £500million of investors' money at risk.
The source added that the cryptocurrency angle raised suspicions as 'Mel isn’t involved in any of that. It’s not her scene,' adding that the charity part however did make the scam plausible
Mel B is engaged according to the newspapers! Congratulations to her!
2 BECOME 1 Mel B is engaged to Leeds hairdresser who restored her faith in men after 10-year domestic violence hell
MEL B is engaged to wed boyfriend of three years Rory McPhee after he proposed this week.
The Spice Girl, 47, was “overwhelmed” when the Leeds-born hairdresser popped the question on Wednesday.
And sources close to the star told how Rory, 36, and a long-time family friend, has helped repair the damage done by her ten-year domestic abuse hell.
Brave Mel has spoken openly about how she was left “powerless” during her decade-long relationship with abusive ex-hubby Stephen Belafonte.
But one source told how Rory, who she began dating in 2018, has restored her trust in men.
Rory got down on one knee at luxury country hotel Cliveden House, Berks, to propose.
He presented her with a £100,000 pear-shaped, champagne-coloured diamond ring, encrusted with smaller champagne diamonds set on a rose gold band.
The source said: “Mel is so happy and this is such a big deal for her because she has been though such a lot.
“It has taken a huge amount for a man to get her to trust him and to believe in love again.
"Rory is from her home town Leeds, he’s known her for years. He’s the absolute opposite of so many of the guys she had relationships with.
“He is a really normal, down-to-earth guy, with good morals who has worked incredibly hard to build his own business and a family business. He’s not flash, or interested in the limelight.
“He comes from a loving family and his best pal is Mel’s cousin, Christian Cooke. He has really taken the time to understand what she’s been through. He is madly in love with her.
"It’s incredibly hard to trust a man after years of abuse but he has shown her men can be caring, trustworthy and reliable.”
According to friends, mum-of-three Mel “burst into tears” when Rory got down on one knee.
One said: “She said ‘yes’ straight away. But it was incredibly emotional because after everything she has been through, it was a really big moment for her.”
According to sources, her eldest daughter Phoenix, 23, was the first person to be told — and the rest of her family and all four Spice Girls were let in on the news. The source said: “All the Spice Girls have met Rory and like him.”
Mel, who was awarded an MBE this year for her work as Patron of domestic violence charity Women’s Aid, has been dating Rory since 2018 when they met up through friends in LA — when they were pictured with top make-up artist Renee Camilleri.
But the relationship became more serious the following year, when Mel returned to the UK for the 2019 Spice World Tour.
Rory, who works in the family hair salon in Leeds and his own salon, Lab Hair, accompanied her to Brooklyn Beckham’s Palm Beach wedding earlier this year. And they were at an awards do in Manchester in May.
The source went on: “The ring is gorgeous and Mel is thrilled with it. She hasn’t stopped smiling.”
The old-fashioned proposal is a stark contrast to her previous relationship.
Belafonte, whose real name is Stephen Stansbury, insisted on getting married in Las Vegas within six weeks of meeting — and Mel had to buy both wedding rings.
Mel, who has appeared as a judge on The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, was left on the brink of suicide after the “reign of terror” at the hands of her ex, who she divorced in August 2018.
A second source last night told how Mel’s family and friends are “over the moon” she has found happiness with Rory.
They said: “They feel — as she does — that she is safe with him, and what more could they ask for?”

Mel B's daughter Phoenix describes mum's split from Stephen Belafonte as 'best day ever'
Mel B's daughter Phoenix recalls the difficult time growing up in her household and the relief she felt when her mum left husband Stephen Belafonte, as she spoke to Kate Ferdinand
Mel B's eldest daughter Phoenix has shared her perspective on her mum's relationship with Stephen Belafonte.
The 22 year old opened up about the subject to Kate Ferdinand on her podcast Blended, where she discussed knowing the household wasn't "ideal", and her joy when the Spice Girl left her husband after a decade.
Phoenix recalls the day it came to an end, telling Kate: “One day we were like, today is the day, and we left. That was the best day ever!"
She expanded: "It was a lot of weight lifted off our shoulders."
Phoenix, whose father is Mel B's former husband Jimmy Gulzar, reveals that she never felt fully settled around their partnership.
She said: "Right away, when my mum got married I realised that it wasn’t an ideal household. I didn’t feel my most comfortable."
Describing the household in further detail, she said: “It was a very controlled environment, there were a lot of rules and that is something I wasn’t used to, so everything was happening very fast-paced.
"Instead of me asking the questions about what is going on, I would go play basketball, separate myself or just hang out with my mum. I didn’t try to grow a relationship with my mum’s partner.”
Phoenix describes how things got worse after a few years of her mum and Stephen being together, due to Mel B's busy work schedule.
Reflecting on her experience Phoenix told Kate: “I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone, but I’m happy it’s something I could get through.”
She added that she coped with the situation by talking with her mum, and consoling herself. “Might sound a little weird but I would talk to myself," she explained. "No one really went through what I went through so I would rant, say how I feel and in a way I’d feel better."
The mother and daughter both now work with Women's Aid to combat domestic abuse, with Mel B being awarded an MBE for her work.
Prince William presented her with the honour, and during an interview with Good Morning Britain Mel B revealed he was very engaged in conversation with her.
“We had a really good catch up and a really good chat and I was just like erm, you’ve got lots of people waiting and he just carried on talking. He’s so lovely," she recalled.
The occasion was made even more special as her bandmate Victoria Beckham designed the dress that she wore for the day.
Stephen and Mel B split in 2017, and share daughter Madison, ten. Mel B also has daughter Angel, 15, who's father is Eddie Murphy.

I hope it goes well, she has a habit of rushing into these things.
A friend of mine is friends with him and she has really good things to say about him and his family so fingers crossed.
We love you Melanie. Kisses xx VB
Mel B was on Drag Race UK tonight!
She was enjoyable! Saying Pixie Polite’s runway outfit was similar to Emma Bunton’s Olympics outfit though… the one thing they have in common is being pink lol.
Mel B was on the most recent episode of Celebrity Gogglebox with Ruby Wax!
Which reminds me, I wonder what's happening with their travel TV show with Emily Atack? It's been 7 months since they were filming it.
Oh forgot about that! Will catch up with it now, thanks for reminder
Mel was also on RuPaul Drag Race UK, and it was a bit lukewarm to be honest with you... Her insistance on one of the contester's looks being like Emma at the Olympics was a bit... And her comments on the contest who did the Lil Nas X impersonation was a bit lame lol
Thought she could have been a bit more funny to be honest ah
Random thought, but do we know why Mel ‘performed’ Word Up sitting in that chair every time? lol was she injured or anything during that time?

Exclusive: Mel B reveals Spice Girls' emotional reaction to Rory McPhee's proposal in first joint interview
The couple have shared details on their proposal
In a world exclusive interview and photoshoot with HELLO! magazine, Mel B has confirmed her engagement to Rory McPhee.
The Spice Girl and her hairdresser fiancé speak for the first time to the magazine about their love, revealing all the details of Rory's romantic proposal and the diamond engagement ring he presented her with.
"For the first time in my life, I'm engaged to a beautiful, honest person who makes me feel protected, nurtured and so loved, and I want to savour that," Mel shares.
And she says her fellow Spice Girls have all given Rory their seal of approval. "Emma [Bunton] cried, so did Mel C," she says of telling them she was engaged.
"All of them were delighted for us and said, 'We love Rory, he's amazing' and they've all sent congratulations cards. I do care about their opinion and it's really special to me that they like Rory so much, because they've never liked any of my boyfriends and they've been quite clear about that.
"They were actually pushing me towards Rory for ages before the two of us became romantic, but I'd say to them, 'It's not like that; he's just a really good friend who makes me feel safe," continues Melanie.
Talking about the moment Rory popped the question, in the grounds of Cliveden in Berkshire, she tells the magazine: "We went for a walk around the grounds with the dogs before dinner and on the way back, Rory suddenly said, 'I'm going to go back to the room and put the fire on'. I didn't think anything of it, but I did get this funny feeling in my stomach. Then, as I walked through the door, he got down on one knee."
"I was so nervous, my lips were trembling," Rory says. "I'd spent ages writing down all these things I wanted to say, but when it came to it, I just babbled."
"Oh no, it was lovely, what you said," Melanie responds. "He told me he loved me, that I was his best friend and that he wanted to be with me for the rest of our lives."

Very happy for her, she deserves to be lucky in love. Lol at the other girls telling her they disliked all the previous men in her life.
That looks really horrible and unnecessary tbh, so I will avoid it like a f***ing plague
The Trailblazers show with Emily Atack and Ruby Wax begins on BBC Two on Monday 28th November! Thanks to Maz for letting us know
I really enjoyed the first episode of Trailblazers! A lot of fun. Anybody else watching it?
Mel B says James Corden is one of the “biggest dickhead celebrities”
She also listed Geri Horner and Jessie J
Mel B has called James Corden one of the “biggest dickhead” celebrities she’s ever met, alongside Geri Horner and Jessie J.
During an appearance on Channel 4’s The Big Narstie Show set to air on Friday (December 2), the former Spice Girl was asked by co-host Mo Gilligan: “Who is the biggest dickhead celebrity you’ve ever met?”
In response, Mel B said: “So, there’s a few. James Corden, Geri Halliwell, Jessie J and me!”
Asked about the inclusion of her former bandmate Geri, Mel said: “I know, I love her to bits but she’s really f***ing annoying.”
As reported by MailOnline, Big Narstie probed further on the addition of Corden. “I think you always have to be nice to the people that you work with whether it be production, camera guys, sound, lighting,” Mel said.
“We all work for the same thing, so you should always be nice and he hasn’t been very nice.”

Obviously she was being jokey about Geri because in the Trailblazers show she also said that Geri and Emma were her two favourite Spice Girls!
I wonder what her problem is with Jessie J? A few years ago Mel called her "overrated"!
I mean, she isn't wrong
Also, Mel is not the first person to say that about Jessie J. It is well known she isn't a very nice person, same with James Corden. The inclusion of Geri is funny (though accurate) and to be honest, she did include herself too.
I would take this as a funny moment and nothing to do a scandal about (which is exactly why the British press has made a scandal over it, they are pros at this).
I feel it says something about the public perception of James Corden that the article/headline targets him the most. Typically, I think the article would focus on Mel listing Geri as a dickhead celeb. But Corden's not in the best space PR-wise...and so he ends up with the focus.
As to the comment about Geri...I mean, look. I'm not new here. I know Mel's saying that in jest about a friend. I also know how things will often get intentionally misrepresented in articles. But. There is part of me that thinks Mel's been doing this long enough that...maybe she should realize listing Geri as a dickhead could be low hanging fruit for the press? I guess Mel's gonna Mel...
Also. I'm late to the party on this, but I just watched that Special Forces TV show trailer. Fox really is just throwing every idea at the wall to see what sticks. I don't figure this has any hit potential. It's not a reality competition with people getting voted off week-to-week. Participants can quit...and the special forces team can ask them to leave. But it's not a competition in the traditional TV sense. So. What's the point of watching? Just to see Jamie Lynn Spears be miserable in training? The trailer's not even playing to the comedy of celebs doing this stuff. What a dud.
I don't think this is a very good match for Mel. She's got a natural athleticism...but I can't imagine her reacting well to aggressive people giving her demands. She's barely featured in the TV trailer...and considering what good TV/a soundbite machine she is...I'm guessing she doesn't last long. At first glance, she doesn't appear to be pushing to this show on social media.
I finished Trailblazers this week. I really enjoyed the series overall, it was pretty inspiring! Definitely one of the most interesting projects Mel B has been involved in. Has anybody else watched it?
On another note, this randomly appeared on my YouTube recommendations. Does anyone know when this was filmed? It's definitely when she was still with Stephan.
Does he predict her divorce or is he just another ridiculous charlatan? lol

A new Mel B article in The Independent regarding the TV show Happy Valley and domestic violence, but it's behind a paywall for me:
‘Glassy-eyed and battered – I was that woman’: Mel B on how Happy Valley’s domestic abuse storyline resonates with her own trauma
Former Spice Girl Mel B felt her blood run cold as she watched the latest series of Sally Wainwright’s BBC drama. As someone who experienced domestic abuse in her own marriage, she writes about why it’s vital for mainstream shows to explore the subject
I didn’t watch Happy Valley when it first came out. I was living in Los Angeles back then. I actually only got around to it very recently – just a week before the new series arrived. A close friend had recommended it to me but I always thought it looked too bleak. But I went back to the first series and within minutes I was hooked. It is absolutely bleak as hell but it is also brilliant in a way that only northern British drama can be. You get the rain, you get the backdrop flitting between beautiful countryside, concrete council estates...

Mel B has told of the embarrassing exchange she suffered with Prince William - all thanks to a dress designed by her good friend Victoria Beckham.
The Spice Girl, 47, revealed how her bandmate Posh, 48, designed her dress for an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace last year, and joked that Victoria purposely stitched her up when it came to her outfit.
Speaking on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Mel detailed how she wore a dress with a 'big slit across the chest' where her medal should have been pinned, adding: 'Victoria knew. She knew!'.
Explaining how her friend had designed the dress, Mel said: 'It was quite embarrassing, actually, because I didn't realise the medal goes here on your chest.
She continued: 'Victoria [Beckham] designed my dress for the occasion. And she put a big slit right there. And I was like "Oh, sorry!"
Co-host Ryan Seacrest congratulated Mel on the MBE (The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for services to charitable causes and vulnerable women.
Mel B went on to discuss her prior meetings with the royals, revealing that the Prince Of Wales' greeting was very casual.
She said: 'I've met the royals before, so he was like, 'Oh, hey, how are you?'
Mel then recalled a meeting when Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were 'very young' at Buckingham Palace with the Spice Girls.
She said: 'When we flew into Buckingham Palace, this is when they were really young, the royals. We had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, without the crust, which was a little bit posh for me.
'So then I decided, 'Can we go into the kitchen and just make some toast and jam?' So we did that too.'
That's a great article, hard hitting and powerful.
Mel B is a judge on Season 2 of Queen of the Universe:
Pop Star Melanie Brown has said she would not call the police to report domestic abuse because it might not be taken "seriously".
Mel B, one of the Spice Girls, told BBC Newsnight she would only report it if "the whole entire system" of justice was reformed by the government.
She became a campaigner for domestic abuse victims after leaving what she described as an abusive relationship.
She said police needed better education about spotting "tell-tale signs".
"I wouldn't [call the police], because I wouldn't know if they would take it seriously," said Ms Brown, who became a patron for domestic violence charity Women's Aid in 2018.
She called for a "redo" of the justice system, and said police officers needed better education about spotting the "tell-tale signs" that someone is a victim of abuse.
"Like if I'm living here and I want to report it to the police, I don't know if I can trust the police. I don't know if they're going to take my allegations seriously," she said.
Speaking to Victoria Derbyshire, Ms Brown described domestic abuse as an "epidemic" and praised those who collected statistics on it which allows victims to "openly talk".
"When I brought my book out, nobody wanted to talk about it. It was like a taboo topic. It was something that everybody knows about but nobody talks about it."
She said it was impacting "younger and younger" people" including "kids as soon as they start some kind of intimate relationship".
"It's just your average person who just wants to be loved and cared for," she added.

Soul crushing. Every single time I hear Mel B speak about what she lived through, while hiding it from so many people. So proud of her for making a consistent effort to help save others from this madness.
Bless her, a very powerful interview there she came across very well. My heart goes out to her.
This has to be about Mel B and Stephen, right? https://www.tiktok.com/@anjuliemusic/video/7215330921837333802
I can 100% see it being true, and I bet Mel B wasn't even aware the session happened. Sounds like the songwriter was being taken advantage of. Thought it was interesting that she was asked to sing with the same style/accent. The Myah Marie of it all...
Mel's career could be very directionless in those years. Every now and then I remember her 2010 documentary series "Mel B: It's a Scary World" and it culminating with a performance of Lip Lock. A song featuring Ludacris, who at that point was still achieving #1 albums and hit singles in the US. That was a pretty big coup. So... why not release the song?
In a way I'm kind of surprised in hindsight that she eventually got her act together, albeit very briefly, to release For Once in My Life and go as far as make a music video and promote it. Wild that that is almost 10 years ago. I wish she'd get the bug again to make some solo music. With the right team she could stand to do reasonably well with an album considering how the UK albums chart operates these days (multiple formats, front loaded first week sales). The 2019 Spice Girls tour showed she's still a fantastic performer... a pity that it seems she only interested in performing if it's with the Spice Girls.
How strange, just goes to show what a weird controlling creep the guy clearly was.
I always found it bizarre though that Mel had recorded (or possibly not in this case) a song with Ludacris who was a fairly big deal at the time and it literally went nowhere except as a teeny tiny snippet in the show!? Then the Australian record contract when she was on all those shows, went nowhere at all? It was all very weird.
I've always just assumed she was controlled by him and those TV shows, judging slots, endorsements were easy money compared to music and that would be all he cared about.
I'm sure Mel would have loved to explore music more. Now it just isn't viable as those offers to do music just aren't there anymore.

OK I dont much care about this campaign but GOOD ON Andrea to be taking part too! She looks fab
Wow, that’s a stunning photoshoot! Mel and her mum and daughter all look great. The photos of Mel reminds me of when Geri had a clothing range for Next (such a far cry from the Geri of today lol).
It’s been years now but it still makes me happy that Mel and Andrea healed their relationship.
Can Mel B put her energies into a third solo album next please, thank you!
She looks incredible 👀
Mel B had some amazing outfits she was so cool in the group in a way the other 4 weren’t so much.
Mel B style >>>> the others
Throughout their hey day Mel B always stood out to me. I really thought she would be the biggest solo star of them all. What a shame that did not happen as she had so much potential.
Mel B had such an incredible run of singles initially! The album being what it was, really sank it together with the awful release strategy.
She was done wrong, although some of it is her own fault (by her own admission!).
I want you back and Word up were her only good songs. The rest of her stuff, well for me, was cheap and awful!
What a queen! Mel B getting involved in Padam
https://instagram.com/stories/officialmelb/3125493184149804447?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Two Spice Girls promoting Padam, get that Kylie love out there girls!
Personal opinion of course but Word Up wasn't cheap sounding or cheap to have organised, what with it being a Timbaland production. He had produced for Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, Genuwine, Destiny's Child and Jay-Z in advance of working with Mel B!! Considering it awful is another matter of course, but for the time the production was current, and unlikely to have come cheap.
I also don't think cheap can be levelled at most of Hot tbh. It's a well produced album! It's just that a lot of the songs are a bit meh regardless.
Loved seeing Mel's Padam Padam instagram story btw *.*
If only it had worked out, it deserved more than #13 (well, #14 is what was revealed at the time)! I feel like the production/first video was maybe a bit too mature for the young fanbase, perhaps. If the second video had been *the* video all along, then maybe it would have got better airplay?
Regarding Word Up , which had amazing production and two amazing videos. It deserved better.
Looking at the chart when released , a very tough week, i wonder if it would have reached the top 10 if released at a different time?
Regarding Tell Me as lead single, it did well, and was used for the publicity, so it did make sense.
Hotter should have been a single.
My order
1. Feels So Good
2. Hotter
3. Tell Me
4. Lullaby
Regarding the album it has 5 good tacks the rest = skip !!
Relaxed Spice *_*
Do we know why she sat for all of the Word Up performances? Was it ever said anywhere? lmao
^ she was pregnant
It's interesting to wonder how Mel B's album would have done if the singles and album release would have gone
Feels So Good - February 2001
Hot album - February 2001
Hotter - May 2001
Tell Me - August 2001
Where is Mel B? What is she doing? I hate so much she gave up music..
She's doing shitty TV shows unfortunately... the latest, Queen of the Universe or whatever it is, has just been cancelled... Reality TV is so lame, jesus...
I hate that she is doing these instead of music.
She looks good.
Mel is looking great! As ever I won't be watching though.
Deluxe edition of Brutally Honest will be published early next year:
"In this brand new, updated and expanded edition written with Louise Gannon, Mel brings her story up to date. With her trademark honesty, she tells the unfiltered story of piecing herself back together, dealing with trauma and new heartbreak whilst becoming a champion for survivors of abuse, performing once more with the Spice Girls and receiving her MBE from Prince William".
https://www.waterstones.com/book/brutally-honest/melanie-brown/louise-gannon/9781837831562
Ooohhh good for her! If she goes into more details about the 2019 tour and the various cancellations since then, I will probably buy it! But if it is a 'and then I got my girls together and we toured' without any more details, I wont bother lol
I gave my copy of the original to a local charity shop before I left the UK
We are at the point of them recycling solo stuff now, two different NS vinyls, My happy place vinyl, new edition of Brutally Honest, even Geri's doing kids books again and recycling a leaked song from years ago for it. I'm not going to say they are creatively bankrupt but man they are verging on it.
Re-releasing an autobiography over 5 years after original release is quite a surprising move. Is that quite rare? Usually I notice autobiographies getting a paperback release a few months after the hardback, either with a slight update to it or no update at all. But I haven’t noticed any get re-released after many years. Interesting decision from Mel and the publishers.
I wonder if they’ll leave all the previous chapters untouched, and add a new chapter, or chapters. Her book is all over the place in terms of jumping around the timelines of events, so I’m not sure whether they’d try and add new stuff within the book, or make it more straightforward and add it all to the end.
Hopefully new artwork is a given, something superior to the original art. Her image nowadays is more recognisably Mel B than back then. I wonder if it’ll still be credited to “Melanie Brown”? I know the book did well in the first place, but I feel like “Mel B” on the cover would be beneficial over Melanie Brown.
I would say this is more interesting than Emma & Melanie C reissuing vinyl in different colours!
It’s a good point! So proud of her for all the work she’s done over the years to raise awareness and help people feel more comfortable to talk about it. Hopefully the reissued book continues to help that.
Maybe the timing is to coincide with her being back on American TV as a judge on AGT, and to capitalise on the promotion around that.
A rare performance of Tell Me at TMF Awards 2000 has just been uploaded to YouTube:
Bless Mel. She could have had it all
Variety has mentioned Mel B as one of the Top Female Reality TV Stars. She seemingly comes right at the top:
Mel B is best known as Scary Spice thanks to her decades performing with the Spice Girls. But she’s also been on unscripted television for more than 15 years, appearing as a judge on “America’s Got Talent,” “The X Factor” in the U.K. and “The Masked Singer Australia.” This year, she competed on Fox’s “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test,” and judged Paramount+’s “Queen of the Universe.” And while she’s not on dating shows, she likes to watch them. “I can’t get enough of ‘Married at First Sight,’” says Mel B. “I’ve watched every version there is. I find it totally fascinating!”

Brutally Honest will have 3 new chapters, but it’s sticking with the original cover art. Out 7th March 2024.

This is an jingle of a famous italian radio. One of the Dj confirmed it was recorded by Mel B in 1999.
It's still on the radio everyday.
I had no clue she was in such a terrible place financially after her divorce.
I’m very glad that she’s in a much more stable position now.
Always have so much love and respect for Mel, so glad to see she's in a much better place.
Hmmmm, that post is interesting. I happen to know where she has been living in a 3 million pound mansion in what is possibly, THE most prestigous area of Leeds for the last few years. I guess she was renting the place, however she was certainly not penniless or living a life of someone who was truly broke.
Don't get me wrong I am not taking away how difficult the whole thing must have been for her, but she is not the normal woman who is financially left with nothing following leaving an abusive partner.
'START FROM SCRATCH' I was so broke after I left abusive ex I was secretly shopping in Lidl & sleeping in same bed as 3 kids, reveals Mel B
When the star walked out of her abusive ten-year marriage in 2017 she had just £700 in the bank
SPICE Girl Mel B has revealed how she was left so broke after walking out on her abusive marriage that she took to shopping in budget stores Lidl and Costco to save cash.
Melanie Brown, 48, returned to her native Leeds in 2019 — a year after divorcing abusive ex Stephen Belafonte.
But she was so drained of cash following the ten-year marriage she was forced to move in to mum Andrea’s bungalow with her three kids.
Mel, who has made more than £80million in her career, says: “People will assume, ‘She’s rich, she’s a Spice Girl’.
“But I went from performing to thousands at Wembley on the Spice Girls’ 13-date Reunion Tour in 2019 to squeezing into my mum’s with my kids sleeping in bed with me.
“I didn’t expect that to happen in my 40s after a successful career but I had nowhere else to go.
“Because I was so badly affected financially from my relationship, I had to pick up the pieces.”
When Melanie Brown walked out of her abusive ten-year marriage in 2017 she had just £700 in the bank with costly divorce and custody battles to fight.
It has taken her five years to save the cash to move out of her mum’s, and she finally exchanged on a converted farmhouse in West Yorkshire earlier this month.
Although Mel had carved out a successful career during her ten-year stint living in Los Angeles, appearing in the US version of Strictly, Dancing With The Stars, and as a judge on America’s Got Talent, she claims she lost control of her fortune while married to film producer Belafonte, 48.
Sparkling Spice
But in the wake of her split, Mel has rebuilt.
She was Seahorse on The Masked Singer in 2021, is a judge on the show’s Australian version and this year returned to the America’s Got Talent panel.
She adds: “Luckily, I have always been a hard worker. I thoroughly enjoy my job and have thrown myself into it.
“I spend a lot of time speaking to abuse survivors and I want to show abuse, including financial abuse, can happen to anyone, and you can build yourself back up.”
Mel recalls how she went from having a loft apartment in LA, a ten-bed pile in Marlow, Bucks, and owning an impressive collection of furniture and art, to doing the weekly shop at budget stores.
She says: “In LA I hadn’t bought a pint of milk in years.
“But back home I would buy in bulk from Costco and got really into shopping in Aldi and Lidl.
“It was Covid times and I would put on my face mask and no one would recognise me.
“I stood in a queue for the first time in a long time. No one batted an eyelid.
“After being in an abusive relationship for years you really have to rebuild yourself inside and out. Nobody can do that apart from you.
“Having to budget and learn how much a packet of crisps costs again kind of felt like me reclaiming my power.
“I felt I went back to my Leeds roots, and I have never forgotten where I came from.”
Mel also switched from Scary Spice to Sparkling Spice.
She says: “I love cleaning. If there is something abnormal going on, like I am fighting in the courts, steaming the floors or doing laundry makes me feel normal and OK.
“I’ve tried out every steamer for floors. Seeing how clean something is gives me instant gratification.”
Astonishingly, the singer had become so isolated in LA that there were everyday things she was clueless about.
She says: “I would say to people, ‘Do you know there is this service called Amazon that delivers to your door?’ And they would be like, ‘Of course!’
“But I didn’t have access to a credit card during my relationship and was working 24/7.”
Mel, awarded an MBE in 2022 for her work as a patron for domestic abuse charity Women’s Aid, says of her time with Belafonte: “I had always taken care of my own money but over time I didn’t worry about money because in my eyes he was taking care of it.
“But afterwards I realised, ‘Oh my God, I am going to have to start from scratch, Ground Zero’.”
Scary Spice admits that even when safely cocooned in her mum’s bungalow, with her ex thousands of miles away, she struggled to shake off the trauma of that relationship.
She says: “The past five years living with my mum have been intense.
“When you are in an abusive relationship it affects your whole family and I was really angry at my mum for a while.
“I was like, ‘Why didn’t you come and get me when I was with Stephen?’
“But I didn’t know he was calling her and yelling at her and she didn’t know how to reach me.
“You have to build those relationships back up and living in that small bungalow saved ours because there was no escape.
“We joked it was like Last Of The Summer Wine meets One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
“My mum would say, ‘But you’ve left him, you’re away, you’re fine’. But it isn’t like that.
“A friend once asked me what it was like being in my head.
“The only way I could describe it was it is like being in a house where a baby is crying but you can never find the room where the baby is.
“I’m a work in progress. But look how far I’ve come.
“A few years ago if a door slammed I would jump out of my skin. Now I think, ‘It’s just a door’.”
Continuing hurt
A continuing hurt has been separation from youngest child Madison, since courts ruled after expensive custody wrangling that, as a US citizen, the 12-year-old must live with dad Belafonte, who also has daughter Giselle, 19.
Mel, also mum to 16-year-old Angel, from a romance with actor Eddie Murphy, and Phoenix, 25, from a previous marriage to dancer Jimmy Gulzar, now sees Madison only in school holidays.
She says: “It is like having an arm cut off. She is my baby. I have spent a fortune on legal battles but at least she spends big chunks of time here.
“In the eyes of the court I’m the big earner and have to pay his court fees as well as my own.
“I’ve been campaigning through my work on behalf of Women’s Aid for the court system to better understand financial abuse.”
Mel reached a divorce settlement in August 2018 which involved all abuse charges being dropped.
Pivotal in rebuilding her self-esteem has been her fiancé, Leeds hairdresser Rory McPhee, 36.
She says: “He is a family friend and I have known him for a long time. So there was a foundation of trust and respect.
“And he is a great hairdresser! When I came back home in 2019 he nurtured my curls back and at the same time nurtured my trust and affection, and it just grew bit by bit.
“I kept pushing him away, saying, ‘I’m damaged goods’.
“But Rory can’t even understand how someone would even raise their voice to a woman. He is a great influence on me. If I am getting manic he can calm me.”
This year marks three decades since the Spice Girls formed and rumours of reunion gigs have been rife, although Sporty Spice (Mel C) yesterday claimed it was just talk.
Mel B adds: “All our mums get along. If there is a bit of a tiff or we get excited about something, all the mums seem to know everything first.
“My mum will be like, ‘I just got off the phone to Pauline (Baby Spice Emma Bunton’s mother) and I hear you are doing . . . ’”
Her bandmates have always been supportive.
She says: “Emma bawled her eyes out when she read my book (2018 memoir Brutally Honest).
“But there was nothing she or any of them could have done, I lied to everyone about my relationship, including myself.”
Mel says the band have recently supported Ginger Spice (Geri Horner) who has stood by her husband, Red Bull F1 boss Christian Horner, amid a probe into claims — which he vehemently denies — that he sent suggestive texts to a female colleague.
Mel says: “We have a WhatsApp group and we have sent messages.”
Mel has a packed diary this year, but many engagements seem a long way from her jet-set Spice days.
She says: “I’m going to Buckingham Palace in a few weeks for an International Women’s Day event with the Queen.
“Later in the year I am addressing the Women’s Institute at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s mad, I’m joining the Jam and Jerusalem crowd.”
Mel’s updated Brutally Honest, written with Louise Gannon (Quadrille, £10.99), is republished on March 7.

MEL B plans to tie the knot with fiancé Rory McPhee in St Paul’s Cathedral.
She says: “As I have an MBE I am allowed to marry at St Paul’s.
“They only do a small number of weddings a year so we are on the waiting list.”
Mel hopes it will be this year or next, and explains how she and Rory had to meet the chaplain of St Paul’s.
She says: “Because I have been married twice before we talked about that.
“I was very open and honest.
“I take marriage seriously and am actually very traditional.
“I spoke about how I was married for ten very abusive years.
“Before the conversation even ended they said they would approve us.
“I keep thinking how proud my dad Martin, who died in 2017, would have been.”
The Spice Girls are invited.
Mel joked: “They won’t be bridesmaids though, we are all too old.”

TALK OF THE TOWN Mel B reveals surprise career change in ‘huge moment’ she’s spent ‘years looking for’
The Spice Girls' star said her new job was influenced by her being a mum
SPICE GIRLS singer Mel B has got a job as a telly voiceover actress.
She narrates new Sky Kids series Happy Town, which follows a problem-solving hedgehog and ladybird pals Pep and Tabitha.
The insects must lift the spirits of the creatures, as the lights of the cartoon town are powered by their glee.
Mel said: “This is a huge moment for me – my first time as a narrator.
“I’ve spent years looking for the perfect children’s show to get involved with because I’m a mum of three, and I believe that little ones learn so much through brilliant, colourful, creative storytelling.
“At Happy Town’s heart is adventure and great entertainment – just like me really!”

Has anyone read the new chapters of her book? Just wondering if she shared anymore info around the Spice tour 2019 and any other info on the girls?
Like Rosie Frost most people on Spice Circle seem to be buying it for collection purposes only. I haven't seen one topic about the actual content of the new chapters.
It is no wonder they put zero effort into anything these days when the hardcore fans would buy anything.
Imagine what Girls Aloud woulda done with that level of success and fame!!
The reissue of Brutally Honest seems to be doing quite well, currently #72 in the Amazon book chart but also the #1 “musician autography”. I know #72 may not seem great on the surface but I think it appearing amongst every kind of book that’s selling well enough to be in the Top 100 at the moment (fiction, children’s, cookery books, self help etc), is pretty good!
I think I'm right in saying its sales have blown the other girls books out the water. It sold something like 12k the week it was on the Sunday times bestsellers list, while Emma and Mel C managed about 5k and Geri didn't make the list at all.
The number of reviews for Mel B's book on Amazon absolutely dewarfs the others too.
Yeah it is quite a success for her, and I am glad.
Did Geri's book really not make any list in the UK? Thats quite bad for such a massive slap in the press.... It did flop a bit right?....
I have no real idea how Geri's book sold but I don't think it was good sales in the UK. Geri seemed to cling to it making the New York times list but it was such a niche list 'hardback kids books'. I cant imagine many kids books are released as hardback.
The Rosie Frost insta page hasn't posted since 20th Dec 2023, which if you think it is meant to be a series then you would think they would want to keep posting every now and then. There is also no pre-order up for a 2nd book despite it supposedly coming out this year.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Rosie books are put on hold or it just gets shelved.
It was a massive flop. When she gets menrioned thesw days, it's in scathing pieces about the publishing industey being choked by "celebrity writers" and people having to become ghost writers for "celebs". There was one on tv the orhee day and it focused on loads of others and just mentioned her in passing as part of the problem!!!
The reason why Mel does so well is she is authentic, ans ahe tells the trurh. Look at her with Piers. She told the truth. We all know their split might be what actually helped end the spicu girls too, but Geri is uust putting on yet another persona. The only one you can get the truth from is Mel B.
