3.

Ed Sheeran – Bad Habits

Date Entered: 16/07/2021
2021 Chart Peak: 1
2021 Chart Run: [6-5-2-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-3-5-4-7-7-11-16-19-24-30-30-29-30-28-34>25]

EOY Commentary

“The most streamed and downloaded song of 2021 in the UK finished at #3 in my EOY chart. Bad Habits was not something I was expecting to enjoy upon its release, let alone chart for some 25 weeks in the year! Thanks to the wonderful production by Fred again.. this song became one of my favourite songs of the year and caused me to pay closer attention to other releases from the album. Another great year for Ed.”

2.

Elton John & Dua Lipa – Cold Heart [PNAU Remix]

Date Entered: 21/08/2021
2021 Chart Peak: 1
2021 Chart Run: [8-4-4-5-4-2-1-1-1-2-4-9-13-16-21-24-20-22-26-33>20]

EOY Commentary

“The collaboration nobody expected but that worked really well. Given that the song samples Elton’s classic hit Sacrifice and a cover of Rocket Man sang by Dua. It was in fact the remix by PNAU that blew up and caused the song to achieve mainstream success. Cold Heart managed three weeks at the top and managed 20 weeks in the Top 40 Countdown to earn the silver medal for this EOY chart!”

1.

Galantis, David Guetta & Little Mix – Heartbreak Anthem

Date Entered: 21/05/2021
2021 Chart Peak: 1
2021 Chart Run: [28-6-1-1-1-2-2-4-1-1-4-4-4-7-7-8-8-11-17-22-21-25-28-28-33-33-37>27]

EOY Commentary

“And so we have arrived at the End Of Year #1 for 2021, and it was the hotly anticipated collaborative project of Galantis, David Guetta and Little Mix. After it was leaked via various sources in early 2021 I was very much excited for the end result having been very impressed by the previews. It’s clearly the best dance song that Little Mix have ever put their name to, and it is also the song that propelled Galantis back into the public eye, who has since worked with Years & Years and also Becky Hill to achieve more hits. David Guetta was firmly established in so many projects in 2021 but this for me was his best effort in 2021. Heartbreak Anthem will continue to be a favourite for years to come I am sure. music.gif

And there we go, we have FINALLY (by mid-March!) completed the EOY 250 for the Top 40 Countdown by awardinary! cheer.gif

Thank you very much to everybody who commented on my personal chart in 2021, and for those who have left me comments in this EOY countdown too. I am truly grateful and apologise for not replying to every comment each week due to time demands, but I always appreciate the interest in my chart.

Hopefully next time we do an EOY for 2022 it will run more smoothly and in a more timely fashion! laugh.gif

Thank you and see you again for another weekly instalment of the Top 40 Countdown by awardinary! biggrin.gif
