BuzzJack Music Forum _ UK Charts _ Friday Chart Predictions

Posted by: Mart!n 2nd September 2017, 08:53 AM

Will Taylor Swift spend a second week at #1, new tracks come in the shape of Maroon 5 collaborating with SZA on their new track of 'What Lovers Do', Paloma Faith unleashes a new track titled 'Crybaby' from her forthcoming studio album 'The Architect', Matoma feat. The Vamps 'Staying Up', Jason Derulo 'If I'm Lucky' (will he be lucky), and Mollie King let's her 'Hair Down' biggrin.gif . Other tracks that could reach new peaks from Macklemore feat. Skylar Grey 'Glorious', Katy Perry feat. Nicki Minaj 'Swish Swish', and Charli X 'Boys'.

In the album chart, The Script are looking to secure the #1 album with 'Freedom Child', LCD Soundsystem 'american dream', Jack Bugg 'Hearts That Strain' and one of my favourite bands from the 80s, Orchestral Manoeuvres In the Dark 'The Punishment of Luxury' all looking for a top 10 chart entry. Other album releases this week from Mogwai, Bicep, Newton Faulkner, Daughter, Starsailor, Motorhead, Scooter and Bars & Melody (yawns).

Possibly 17 new entries in the album chart top 20 next week!

Posted by: danG 2nd September 2017, 05:01 PM

Of which only half will actually have a chance of actually making the top 20, knowing how good his predictions are.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 2nd September 2017, 07:00 PM

Can we have 17 new entries in the Singles chart Top 20 instead?

No, we need Pink to stay top 3.

Posted by: 777666jason 2nd September 2017, 09:34 PM

Pink could still stay top 3 in that situation laugh.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever 2nd September 2017, 09:36 PM

Hopefully the Script can get the number 1 album this week.

Posted by: SKOB 3rd September 2017, 09:37 AM

10 NE's in top 20 is a possibility I'd say.

Divide will of course remain at #2 with similar numbers it always has or is Jake Bugg popular enough to overtake?

Posted by: Bjork 3rd September 2017, 10:26 AM

the last Jake Bugg album had lots of radio 1 support and did 16K in week 1, the new album hasn't had any support and has zero buzz and pretty poor reviews, so don't think he will be a threat for the Scirpt, will be an easy #1 for them I'd say

Posted by: girl_from_oz 3rd September 2017, 12:01 PM

LCD Soundsystem are currently ahead of The Script on Amazon physical sales, judging by Amazon the big new entries on the album charts will come from those 2 plus Jake Bugg, Mogwai, OMD, Steve Winwood, Motorhead

Posted by: KY420 3rd September 2017, 04:18 PM

Sorry Not Sorry looks set for the Top 10 this week, and with Feels on ACR the door is open for Havana to possibly nab 10th. It's going to be really close between a few tracks (Despacito or Sun Comes Up could block) but I would really like to see it get there. One of my favourite tracks of the year and would also be a Solo Charting high for Camilla in the UK Charts.

Although Taylor dropping another track could end that dream!

Posted by: THEO. 3rd September 2017, 05:48 PM

Taylor is definitely coming for iTunes #1 with "...Ready For It?" and with "New Rules" at #1 on Spotify for the week so far, "Look What You Made Me Do" could lose overall #1 this week ohmy.gif

Posted by: JosephStyles 3rd September 2017, 06:25 PM

I think Look What You Made Me Do should keep the official #1, it's still selling just under double Dua on iTunes and the Spotify lead will decrease later in the week like it did last week.

Posted by: cqmerqn 4th September 2017, 04:15 PM

I think it'll look a bit like this...

01 Taylor Swift - Look What You Made Me Do
02 Dua Lipa - New Rules
03 Pink - What About Us
05 Taylor Swift - ...Ready For It?
08 Demi Lovato - Sorry Not Sorry
10 Camila Cabello - Havana

Should be very close between #1 and #2 though. New Rules could snatch it back.

Female overload laugh.gif

Was anyone expecting anything different though? It troubled the lower reaches of the iTunes Top 40 for a few minutes then promptly plummeted, seeing as her debut was a #90 smash with a lot more hype around it I wasn't expecting anything for this.

Never understood the appeal of Jake Bugg myself, but it seems his last album must have put a lot of people off; I know it entered high but it sold pretty poorly in the long run.
Say what you like about Mogwai, they've had more hit singles than him.

According to Polyhex Jake Bugg had 2 UK top 30 singles and Mogwai had only 1 top 40(11 years ago). biggrin.gif

I still know more Mogwai songs (well, tracks) than Bugg ones.

NME gave the new Jack Bugg 2 stars out of 5 and had a headline saying "he's lost his way", which sure isn't helping sales. But his previous also got bad reviews too

Yes it's getting radio play, but I think the 59p decrease and the exposure of being in the iTunes Top 10 is benefitting it more. After all, it's still only around #75 on Spotify.

Going to be close next week should nothing else big be released, Taylor may struggle to hold on given she's now fallen behind P!nk on downloads and Dua on streaming. Either P!nk or Dua are within a chance next week or even Megan McKenna laugh.gif

sam smith sure is gonna be #1 by miles on itunes... so it all depends on how he does on Spotify. but even with little streaming he could be #1 overall... the song is gonna be instantly addeed to R1 and R2...

Harry up to #27 on albums, but no Two Ghosts due to Spotify mad.gif

Two Ghosts barely troubled the iTunes top 100 after his performance and is already almost out of the top 200. I don’t think Spotify is the only problem.

Ah didn't realise Sam Smith was releasing tomorrow. In that case I wouldn't be surprised if he goes to no.1, he'll have fairly decent download sales at least.

Good to see OMD holding on in the latest mids, hopefully they're album will remain top five, they haven't had a top ten album since Sugar Tax

Either him or this new Zayn/Sia song, I expect that will do well on spotify as well

Yeah I can see Sam Smith taking it next week, with maybe P!nk at #2 and Taylor at #3...? Also think ZAYN will do a lot better than we think.

was thinking if Dua could return to #1 next week... she's 75K ahead of TS on Spotify today and doing double than Pink... she's low on itunes but everybody is selling little there, don't think Taylor or Pink are even doing 3k per day on itunes...

It's actually really sad how much an impact playlists make on becoming a chart hit sad.gif

Do the public really need to be spoonfed that much?

It's no different to radio playlists controlling what people bought in the past. There has always been more music released than is given a huge marketing push.

It's much different. This is essentially people just playing a playlist through passively and that making up a large percentage of streams.

Based on first listen, Sam Smith is not going to do much... Although his fanbase might guarantee a one-week-#1
