Moved up ITunes UK nicely since release. Up to number 7. Lets hope it gives Alesso a top 20 hit this week

I love this, never heard anything by him before, so no clue if it's up to standard.

Is this one of the first times Kylie's been sampled in a single?

I've edited the opening post to include the video for those who may not have heard it.

I like it but it's not a patch on 'Get Outta My Way', although maybe I should stop comparing. It's cool to see the song get a second lease of life in some way though!

Too generic for my taste.

I really didn't get the appeal for this when I heard it - not even the Kylie sample could save it! But I've had a huge u-turn and I think it's a really strong, summery/party track!

I think this is the first time in terms of a song that will be successful; this website shows there's been a few other songs that sample Kylie: http://www.whosampled.com/Kylie-Minogue/?sp=1

Up to 5th on UK ITunes... been climbing nicely..

I also love that on twitter the BBC Radio 1 bot that shows what it being played often shows Kylie instead of Alesso smile.gif it is obviously a Kylie fan smile.gif

Lets hope it gets a few more sales for Get Outta My Way too smile.gif

No it really shouldn't. ATL was the perfect lead and nothing else would have beaten it.

A Top 10 peak for 'Get Outta My Way' would have been nice but I wouldn't prefer it to be the lead single just for that to happen. As Regina says, 'All the Lovers' was the perfect choice of lead single and deserved success over 'GOMW'. Perhaps the latter would have achieved a Top 10 peak if it had been released before the album but then I don't think the album would have received the same level of initial successful if that were the case.

I can't see 'GOMW' getting much of a boost from the success of 'Cool' - it's not like people outside of fans will really recognise the Kylie sample and I can't see any Radio 1 DJs mentioning the sample after playing the song.

No No No. All the lovers bores me. NEVER play it.... Get Outta My Way still makes my playlist every day - 5 years on.

That doesn't mean ATL was a bad single and that GOMW would do better. ATL is a classic Kylie song with a new edge to it and fitted in perfectly with the time of year.
GOMW is just standard Kylie by numbers

Regina you will find a lot of Kylie fans disagree with you....

Get Outta My Way is very big with Kylie fans and some hardcore ones at that.... commercial success still hurts us.

She needed a song that had wider appeal, which All The Lovers did. You'll be hard pushed to find non-kylie fans who prefer GOMW, or even ones who remember it.

All The Lovers got a lot of publicity pre-release, loads of TV promo, radio play etc and before album released.......... GOOMW suffered from poor promo and released after album had already sold 200k

I much prefer 'Get Outta My Way', but NO WAY should it have been the lead single over 'All The Lovers'. laugh.gif

It also had wider appeal. I know so many people who don't like Kylie but love All The Lovers.

'All The Lovers' was absolutely the right choice - it was quickly regarded as being classic Kylie. heart.gif

I love 'GOMW but it was definitely second single material, not first. It's a shame it missed the Top 10.

Let's not talk about the third choice of single.

3rd single should have been a proper release for Put Your Hands Up with X-factor performance.... or Cupid Boy
