The former Barcelona boss signed a two-year contract in July 2018. Enrique had been absent since March because of "a family matter of an urgent nature" according to the Spanish Football Federation.

A match that went 120 minutes, with five goals scored, a missed penalty at the last minute by a man-down Mexican team after a red card was shown, things thrown on the field, the teams going after each other on the pitch, multiple stoppages in the game due to the aforementioned goings on, an instant classic that everyone should go back and watch when you have the chance. Mexico said there would be revenge when the Gold Cup came along... Fast forward to last night and that revenge didn't come. A head off a free kick by Miles Robinson in the 117th minute clinches a 1-0 win for the Americans. A Las Vegas crowd that was estimated to be 90% Mexican supporters. Mexico rolled out their A squad for the tournament while the U.S. purposely kept theirs away to get a summer rest and went with almost exclusively young players many making their international debuts with this tournament. The USA-Mexico rivalry had become one-sided in recent years, but these past two months have helped even things up a bit. This tournament also showed that the U.S. have a strong generation of young talent coming up and not qualifying this time for the next World Cup would be shocking. CONCACAF used to have the final round of World Cup Qualifying be "The Hex" -- a six-team group to decide which three teams automatically qualified. One of the toughest qualifications in the world because of it being only the top tier countries for the region and many of the home locations being trouble spots due to weather and other factors that make them a 'hostile environment'. Only South America's qualification is arguably tougher. Now it will be "The Octagon" (yes, I'm coining this to be after UFC's fighting arena) with eight teams duking out for those World Cup spots. The 1st and 2nd place finishers from each group will qualify directly to the World Cup. The two third place finishers will play a head-to-head and then advance to intercontinental playoffs. Africa is also just starting their 2nd Round of qualifying by separating 40 countries into ten groups of four. The ten group winners advance to the third round where they will be paired into to five home-and-away ties, with each winner qualifying for the World Cup. CONCACAF is beginning their third round which is one large group of eight countries. It is a double round robin format with the top three finishers qualifying directly to the World Cup and the fourth place finisher advancing to the intercontinental playoffs. Added 5 mins injury time at the end of each half plus and extra 2 mins in the first half and minute in the second half and apologised to Ronaldo for giving him a yellow card. Ronaldo should also have had a red for slapping one of our players before the pen was taken. He can do anything he wants though, ref was in awe of him ffs.

He's an amazing header of the ball - easily the best I've seen and his ability at 36 is freakish. Problem is look at the positions Portugal have to take up to set those chances up for him.
