And surely now Origi has won it for Liverpool in what has been a very poor match.

The match never really took off to be honest, it just fell flat in places, I just find European teams are much better to watch as sometimes they are more fast paced.

It was the boring and dull final I hoped for. Spurs were the better team but they were absolutely toothless. Van Dijk bossed him all game, I’m gonna back him to win ballon d’or now, think he’s a great chance.

Liverpool just an absolute beast, could barely string 2 passes together yet we win NUMBER 6 woooooooooo

There's quite a few people at work I'm going to torment this week at work. I like a little bit of football banter, but got shades of it after that Kompany goal. Utd wanted City to win the league and now Liverpool have won the Champions League - have that biggrin.gif laugh.gif#

Absolutely amazing, not sure it has sunk in yet still. This makes all those painful moments over the past 6 years worth it.

Absolutely, I'm usually quite introvert about these things after doing all that when I was a youngster. Like to show that you can win well and not badly.

Love this LFC team so many great players and characters - fully deserved something from a great season!

Oh I agree we fully deserved it. We didn't play as well as we can, but I thought the early goal helped in a way that we just contained our shape and Spurs created zilcho really. The differece now is that we now know how to win ugly compared to the past few years. Big test now is making a few additions to boost the squad and carrying this hunger on through to next season.

Losing the league by 1 point, Gerrard slip, penalties defeat to City and Madrid 2018 all gone away now. We've got a massive monkey off our back. Of course there's still the league and that hurts, but 6 time European Cup winners is something else.

I mean a victory is a victory & you certainly couldn't make a case for Spurs deserving it so well played Pool. Not bad from losing to Red Star Belgrade! It wasn't the showcase final this season's tournament deserved but then again, finals rarely ever are exciting.

I think the penalty kinda killed the game, which is ironic considering we always want an early goal in a game.

As I think Houdini posted in a different post 'First is everything. Second is nothing'. We were allowed to set up in good shape after the goal and there was only one real chance Spurs had. Guess from a neutral point of view the final was a terrible game, but I can't remember a really good final in any competition for ages now.. the stakes are just far too high.

Don't think the 3 week break helped either team, certainly we looked rusty AF.

The heat and fatigue would have set in and definitely played a part. But it was the amount of misplaced passes (underhit over overhit) that got me. That's all to do with match sharpness.

But like you say, who cares, we've got a fun summer ahead now!

The last World Cup final (less than a year ago) was a decent game.

It was better than the last World Cup final, but it wasn't really a competitive contest. It's rare you see any 3-3 , 3-2 or 4-3 games anymore in finals.

Well congrats to Liverpool. They certainly had more chances in the first half, Spurs seemed to pick up towards the end but couldn't get the ball in the net.
