Staring the amazing Viola Davies and Liza Weil aka Paris Geller.
There is also some hot totty in the form of Gay Law Student Conner played by 'Jack Falahee'
Think I have my new crush!
I'm like halfway through the Pilot and it's amazing.
I'm surprised there was no topic for this. Yeah, I really enjoyed the pilot and Viola is in top shape. Shame its only a limited season though
I don't think his character is gay, I just got the impression he is the kind of guy that would do anything to get the spot in her team. Loved the pilot not sure about them revealing the victim at the end though, I thought they could have waited 3 pot 4 episodes to do that. Biggest pilot rating so far this season though which is incredible.
this basically ticks every box I have: viola davis, gay sex, hot gay guy, murder mystery (of a sort), hot OitNB prison guard
also been alerted to the fact that wes gibbons is dean thomas from harry potter which is just WEIRD.
The actor said the character was gay, apparently.
Yes, I loved it and can't wait for next episode.
My new crush
This is my boyfriends new favorite show and somehow I've been sucked in.
Not terrible. There is just too much going on, too many characters it's hard to grasp anyone outside of Annalise, Wes and maybe Jack.
However, I do love the fact that we have a cut-throat, but visually appealing gay male. Yum.
I'll continue to watch. Love these types of shows. Still not 100% sold but I can get there.
I'm loving that the crazy plot twists have started already like its already the end of the season
Yeah, it's kind of like Revenge that way.. Tho, they shouldn't have released who was killed. That would have been better.
It's very good, typical pulpy Shonda stuff (even if she has less involvement than with the other big shows of hers).
My only real concern is, as male lead, Alfred Enoch doesn't have the presence or ability to carry the story as well as he ought to. The other students are all great, but he just feels a bit 'rabbit in the headlights'. I mean the character is obv supposed to be like that, but it doesn't feel like he has intentionally played it that way but rather just doesn't know what to do.
Gay guy is SUPER SUPER HOT and I loved his booty call in episode 2 and ''this time I DO YOU'' was rather *.*
Viola is obv incredible, though I have noticed she has a rather odd walk at times, but that's just me being a picky little so and so because I love to find fault in all (even Baranski has made some POOR outfit choix on TGW).
Been trying to not watch it (was going to do the whole series once it's ended) as much as I could but in the end I couldn't help myself and watched the pilot. Incredible stuff omg. SO knew who the victim would be!
Reminds me of Damages SO much. The flashforwards, the pace, the characters.
love her
Oh yes. Snap bitch!
Can 'bye felicia' be a thing please.
It already is. It was for some time.
I KNOW it's been around but it needs to be BIGGER. She used it perfectly. <3
Episode 4 was very strong.
Has anyone seen the ratings for this thing? They ought to do more than a limited season tbh.
It's down to Viola's availability. I believe she has stipulated that she will only do 15 episodes per season. ABC would have this with a full 22 episode order right now if they could.
Living for this show and for Jack Falahee in particular.
Love this show. Conor is amazing and Viola is such a brilliant actress. <3
Connor is so hot. I love his sexy little scenes. That guy Julian that he hooked up with...Wow. Why is he pining over Oliver, seriously. And how has Oliver managed a second majorly attractive boyfriend?
Anyway, Connor obsession aside, the show is really strong still, too. The story is piecing together and it's managed to keep a great level of intrigue up. I'm glad it's only a short 15 episodes a season. I think 22 would have dragged it out too much.
Really enjoyed the use of flashbacks this week to when the dead girl was still alive. Although I felt the pregnancy twist was very predictable and cliche.
Also loving the burns being thrown at Connor.
Can't wait for the winter finale next week with the big reveal already.
The whole thing has felt at once energised and rushed because of the short episode count. I'm not sure if it's going to be a good thing for the full season, but we'll see. I'm not feeling half the characters right now though, they are essentially outlines of people we have been asked to care about, but WHY? Rebecca as some kind of emotional heart of the show does not work at all as she is pretty much a cutout of an ''angsty rebel'' girl.
Viola is AMAZING, obv, but there's only so much she can do with middling scripts/ideas.
Last night episode was EPIC.
Loved it and my face was in the end.
CHARACTER RANKING
Connor Walsh
Professor Annalise Keating
Michaela Pratt
Frank Delfino
Asher Millstone
Rebecca Sutter
Wes Gibbins
Bonnie Winterbottom
Laurel Castillo
Connor by far is my favorite, relish in his story lines every week. Annalise is a clear 2nd for me as well, she's left herself so vulnerable for this role and it's paying off. After that we would have Michaela, although I think she overacts most of the time she's pretty solid. Frank gets 4th on his beard alone. Asher ehhhhh, I've enjoyed his story lines other than sleeping with Bonnie but I don't actually get why the show needs him. Rebecca next, everyone after this I either dislike or hate - I just had to put her on top of some other people I dislike more. Wes next, I know he's supposed to be the star, but his acting is terrible. Bonnie I'm shocked I put this low, I love the premise but her character took a big stumble for me in the last two episodes (kissing Sam and sleeping with Asher) and last is Laurel. She's absolutely horrible. Get her off my screen.
I'm watching this but getting tired of seeing the same clips over and over again, it is really starting to annoy me. The mid season final was basically 20 mins stuff we had already scene and 20 mins new material.
If you are going to tease the plot like they seem to want to do, then they really don't need to keep rehashing it every time something new is added to the plot.
Otherwise it is a great show.
Okay, catching up on this. Didn't want to but I'm sick and have a shitload of problems at the moment so need to take my mind off things for a while. Connor's hookups can be quite effective <333
Was I the only person whose jaw literally DROPPED when that assistant killed himself?! I think this might have been the most shocking turn of events on TV all year! And the comment right before that was way below the belt so it made everything twice as tragic.
I'm just shocked Conor didn't bang him hard enough to have him fall out the window*
* I'm drunk
I'm just LOVING this, it really has everything. Strong characters, murder, crime, gay love story, plot twists. The first two episodes were a little bit hard to get my head around but it fell into place the more I watched, and I'm up to the 7th episode now.
Rebecca is pretty much an unlikeable character so far, but I'm hoping she'll come into her own.
I agree with the above, when that assistant committed suicide it was a real moment.
I've never seen Viola Davis in anything before, but she is utterly exceptional.
It's great entertainment, but the whole thing feels like the writers are making it up as they go along. Most of the characters are hollow shells of people, yet we are supposed to care about them. Objectively it's just not a well written or conceived show, but it really is bloody good FUN.
I think the fact they have been revealing clues about what is going to happen in the midseason finale shows they actually DID think everything through... at least the first half of the season haha. I don't think the plot would have fallen into place so smoothly if they didn't know what would happen next.
Well, yeah there is that, but I mean it doesn't feel like the murderer was chosen beforehand because THAT was just a total clusterf***. It really annoyed me who it is too, because it's going to push the show in a direction I don't want to have to watch, mainly because said character is BY FAR the worst.
ur just racist~
I kinda knew it would be either him or Rebecca all along for some reason haha. Well as soon as they showed that Rebecca was in that place at t hat time PLUS had blood all over her face I thought it was actually her but finding out Wes did it didn't surprise me at all.
I wanted it to be Michaela. Or Connor. Hell, even bloody LAUREL would have been better. If he tries to justify it as doing the right thing I am quitting the show (and you just KNOW they will, because he's SUCH A GOOD BOY)
Jesus CHRIST at that finale. The murderer was a good twist (SLIGHTLY expected it early on but thought I was extremely paranoid) and I wasn't expecting the murder at the end. Next season please! <3
I really thought Bonnie was the killer and apparently she was - but production changed it to Frank last minute. Shame.
Yes. Next season. It will be a long 7 months
I'm just glad they've got rid of Rebecca. God, she was annoying!
I finally caught up on this, OH MY GOD at the last few minutes of that finale. Genuine spine chills.
I had just started to like Rebecca, but to be fair she had served her purpose by this point.
Just caught up with the finale, did not see that coming, that flew over my head I really thought Bonnie was the killer.
Thank f*** Rebecca is gone though, she was doing my head in.
Omg this show is giving me life
EPIC first episode of the season...Annalise :hail:
They should rename the show 'Who Attempted To Kill Viola Davis' because clearly she won't actually die at the end of the season.
It's not only about that though...there were a lot of puzzles left to be solved until the end of the season...who is the person who responded back to Michaela's message? Who's working for Asher as spy? Who murdered adoptive parents and the witness?
Disappointed that it didn't do better in the ratings because hot damn that was an intense first episode!
The show never fails to leave me in shock but when I saw her on the floor, I literally paused my life for a moment
am addicted to this rn... wathed the whole first season in about 2 days yelp meee
ohmy GOD is nobody watching this?? cos that last ep !!!!!!
This still has it for me...I still get a lot of OMG moments.
Not a crazy first episode but second one was a GOLD with so many highlights
Tho, now Asher is safe.
I feel like they're pulling us in the direction that it's Wes that died. But, I think that's too obvious. I sadly think it may be Conner - which would be terrible.
I also don't think Nate or Frank's deaths would have a large impact on the show, I really think they're going with a main character.
I guess it could also be the new guy. I haven't been bothered to learn his name.
Since episode 2 when she invited Wes to come to her house, I thought it will be Wes girlfriend...that poor guy seems to lose everyone in his life!!!
The way the story is going, it's leading us to believe it's Connor, but with this show there's going to be some sort of twist so I'm currently thinking it'll be Nate.
I hope it's Wes. Such a whiney, mopey lead.. and he's totally ruined Laurel for me.
Yeah, Wes is immensely boring for me now and I wouldn't be spectacularly sad to see him go. If it's Connor I will be devastated.
Wes is safe.
Bonnie is a QUEEN. For me she's be the star this season. So brilliant.
Out of the four remaining: NEW GUY > Nate > Frank > Connor (to die obv)
There was something about Frank in the last episode that was *.* as well.
I really can do without the New Guy and Nate. If either, or both die - I will be happy.
Connor is safe, I actually thought the last episode was the final Fall episode, so I thought he was a gonner. Didn't realize we were getting another episode before winter break.
It should be between Nate and Frank (or the newbie) if we believe it's a male that dies, but, the only source of that was the News Report which could have been wrong. It could be Eve. She's getting her own show, so chances are, even tho she wasn't a big character - won't be returning at all.
YAAAASSSS
oh my GOD the last 20 mins of that ep
help me
hold me
also glad i didnt read yall guesses cos i literally had NO clue it was gonna be wes. when nate walked into the autopsy room i...
Shook by this.
legit thought it was gonna be Nate.
and now the 2 month wait
Oh my god I haven't been so happy to see a character die in YEARS. I was shook because I hadn't even played with the idea it could have been him so when they did the reveal I screamed! This show never fails to amaze me.
I'm annoyed I didnt know til recently that Universal are not showing season 3 in the UK and no-one else taking it on. No idea why Universal dropped it as its brilliant
Slay me it's coming!
So this has been pushed back a week because ABC wanted to focus on Trump's incoming presidency
Renewed for a 4th season
For anyone yet to see Season 3, Sky Living has picked up the series and it starts Thursday July 13th at 9pm.
Season 4 starts on September 28th
Too long! Can't wait for this, the first series really hooked me and although the second wasn't as good, the third picked it up a bit.
I have to echo the responses above regarding the character that died in the fire, I was very pleased to see him go but I think he may be continuing into season four during flashbacks anyway
Viola Davis really is such a standout actor though, she's probably the main reason I come back to this show (and Shonda). I can't wait to see what she's written for her this time
Was I the only one to think that was a poor series opener? The scene at the restaurant was good and Laurel at the end sets up the series nicely but it just felt very... flat?
Actually I loved it...it was about time to have an episode that isn't over the top lol.
Laurel seems like to be the star of the season
Scandal crossover episode is coming! Could not be more excited to see Kerry and Viola interact with each other
Ok so I've just finished the first 3 seasons and I'm so obsessed with this show, anyone know where I can watch the first few eps of season 4 cus Sky only has from ep 6 onwards
It may be finished in the US, but Season 5 finally airs on Sky Witness from June 26th can't wait to see it
Season 6 is now confirmed to be the final season
So watched this from series 1 to the final series 6 over the lockdown period and finished it today . Such a great and gripping series overall. Viola Davis is just AMAZING !
I LOVE this show so much! It was so gripping the whole way through and the ending was so shocking yet also quite perfect for all of the characters. I hope more people watch it now that it's done! It's essential viewing.
