He was admitted to a specialist neuro surgery unit in a Munich hospital, and is under the care of neuro surgeon Prof. Dr. Jorg Tonn and Dr Muller Wohlfahrt. Bono will spend the next few days there, before returning home to recuperate. Once his condition has been assessed further, a statement will be made regarding the impact on forthcoming tour dates.

This is terrible news - poor Bono.

Spinal surgery is very serious and generally takes months before people can get back to normal. I feel very sorry for all the hundreds of thousands of fans accross the US who have boked flights, hotels etc - although the gigs can of course be re-schedualed. What cannot be howeer is Glasto - it will be awful if they have to pull out of that but being realistic it is only in 4 weeks time and even if Bono, being his stubborn self, decides to perform no matter what, it is highly unlikely he will be able to give it 100% - and would probably have to stand still or sit down, therefor not giving a proper Bono performance. Considering how important the Glasto gig was to them and how much they would have wanted to be one of the highlights of their career I have a feeling they will pull out.
