Way before Pink recorded There You Go, then-called Alecia Moore joined an American R&B girl group called Choice in 1995, which also included Chrissy Conway and Sharon Flanagan. When a copy of their first song, Key to my Heart was sent to LaFace Records in Atlanta, LA Reid overheard it and arranged for the group to fly over there so he could see them perform. After this he signed them to a record deal, a contract which their parents had to co-sign as the girls were under 18. The group then lived together in Atlanta and recorded an album. Key to my Heart appeared on the Kazaam soundtrack for the 1996 film of the same name. The group split up in 1998 after a poor performance. Alecia offered the options of carrying on with the group which would go no where, or leave the group and have a solo career.

Since leaving the group Alecia decided that she wanted to be called Pink, a childhood nickname that had stuck around her. Pink released her debut solo single, There You Go on 8th February 2000 in US.

There You Go was written by Pink, Kevin "She'kspere" Briggs and Kando Burruss. It was also produced by "She'kspere". Recorded in Triangle Sound Studios, Atlanta, the song went on to be a big hit, peaking at #7 on the US Billboard Hot 100, #2 on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart and #6 on the UK singles chart.

 

 

"In the music video, Pink's ex-boyfriend calls her asking for a ride, and she reluctantly agrees to pick him up. Pink hops on a motorcycle and rides to the top of a parking structure overlooking her ex's apartment, and calls him on her cell. She then accelerates her motorcycle, jumps off at the last second and watches as it soars off the roof and crashes into his apartment window before exploding into flames. Pink then jumps into a car driven by a new guy, giving her ex the middle finger as they drive off."
