Looks like Will wants to take a 3 month break according to reports on twitter this morning. What a strange time to do that, mid album promotion. Is Baby still down this morning or is it me still having a problem? |

He usually takes about 6 weeks off at the beginning of the year doesn't he, but I think it's taking a bit of a risk to take so long out when he's till promoting Echoes and it means a likely 4 month gap between singles. Still, it's up to him, and it's no good us worrying if the album plummets, he obviously won't be.

Yes its on music week I cant believe that date his album will be totally out of the charts it wont be in most of the shops...it does not make any sense

I dont understand how he can be having a long break already. His last album was 3 years ago and as only been promoting for 5 months, most artists promote an album in the uk than promote abroad then tour everywhere and only then take a break...he as barely started promoting.

Well he usually takes January off.
Have checked my calendar and 6 weeks before release is 6th Feb, which is only 7 weeks tomorrow. As for the brits, he had no chance of a performance anyway

Hi Hope it's okay to post here? -only just recovered my password. I'm Will_4_me (Julie) on Devoted and just wanted to discuss the change of date.
When I saw the news about a break my heart sunk as I really thought he was disappearing for an even longer break-to be honest I had been expecting this after news about losing The Voice. I think it's easy to forget just what a sensitive soul Will is-it may not be a commercially sensible decision to leave it that long to release his next single but I think he needs time off to recover from the way he was treated over this. He's worked so hard promoting the album and was clearly delighted when Jealousy and Echoes did so well. But fighting for airplay and the disappointing charting of Come On along with losing The Voice must have knocked his confidence. I think the press release about the 3 month break is a way for his PR to manage this-at least we know he's performing in the summer and likely to have some theatre in the autumn. I suspect he cleared his diary for The Voice and now that's not happening he'd rather have break now and hopefully come back refreshed and raring to go. It's a real shame that this may result in Echoes not achieving the sales it could with more promo in Jan/Feb, especially with a possibly tie in with 10 years since he won Pop Idol but I suspect he just can't face it at the moment. He probably doesn't want to go through loads of interviews about not getting the Voice. I wonder if he can't face the usual Brits snub as well. Sorry for the rambling post-just need to write all that-I hate January and hate the thought of Jan and Feb without him being around. Although if it hadn't of been for the prospect of The Voice it wouldn't have surprise me as much as he usually has January off. Note to self -get a life! Julie x |

Hello Julie. I always agree with what you have to say and this time is no exception. He's a free agent but wouldn't take time off if his 'people' thought he still needed to promote heavily. They must be happy with any investment returns.

 I still want to believe he's just taking January off, call me stubborn. I bet he is upset about it all though as you say, probably wants to regain his perspective. But it does not make sense he said he had a really busy year, he already has april and may off because of the voice so how can he now take off jan to march as well. thats 5 months clear..and wouldnt it have made sense to have the break when the voice is on because he is already free and would have got him away from the hype of the show ( and disappointment)
The only decent sales left for the first half of next year are for valentines day and mothers day ( sales can be quite high) so does that mean all we have left is the summer tour ( not really interested in his acting) This post has been edited by Sunday: Dec 18 2011, 12:53 PM |

Hi Thanks for the welcome-meant to post after Bev left Devoted as I really miss her posts on there but couldn't remember my password.
Sunday-I don't think it does makes sense commercially I just think he's pissed off and needs time off now. I think the way he reacted on twitter to The Voice and to the recent homophobic post indicates he just needs to escape from it all right now. We all know he suffers from depression and perhaps this is his way of avoiding descending into it. From something that was said on the web link chat he did, I get the impression that Australia might have been lined up for the start of the year but this was changed when he got The Voice. If he did turn down overseas promotion for The Voice I suspect that's made him even more fed up. All supposition on my part but he's done it before. I doubt he wants to feel like he did during the Keep On promotion so hopefully a break will get it all into perspective and he'll realise just how well he's done with Echoes and a sell out tour. I really hope he'll come back raring to go and showing The Voice just what a big mistake they've made. Julie x |

Twitter is a bit odd for me atm though. Maybe I'm imagining it but I feel sure I read that interview or something very similar a few years ago
