Last year Garbage announced that they finished their 5th album, the new single will come in January or February 2012 and the album is currently scheduled for an independent release in late March or early April 2012.

QUOTE
From where Vig stands, the new record conjures dark vibes reminiscent of Garbage's first two albums, 1995's self-titled debut and 1998's "Version 2.0," which spawned hits like "Stupid Girl" and "When I Grow Up," respectively.

"There's lots of elements of things we've always loved: noisy guitars, big electronic beats, atmospheric film moments," Vig says, adding that they "wanted to make a record sound like something that we want to hear when we're driving the car." source

Soon Garbage will anounce all details (album title, cover and track listing). It's just a question of time when we'll hear new music from this great band.

PS: here's a snippet (intro) from a new song:

Garbage are to release their fifth studio album, "Not Your Kind of People" in the UK on 14th May 2012, on the band's label Stunvolume.

QUOTE
Garbage have announced their first UK show for seven years.

The band, who reunited in 2010 after an 'indefinite hiatus', will play London's Troxy venue on May 9 before they head off on a full European tour.

Garbage have also confirmed live dates in Russia and France as well as festival appearances in Germany, Denmark, Belgium and Sweden. More dates are expected to be announced soon.

The band have also confirmed that their new album will be titled 'Not Your Kind Of People' and that it will be released on May 14. It is the fifth album of their career.

The album, which is their first since 2005's 'Bleed Like Me', will be released on the band's own record label Stunvolume, which was launched last week.

Recorded in Atwater Village in Los Angeles, the album is the group's first not to be recorded in Madison, Wisconsin, the city where the band formed in 1994. The album has been produced by Garbage and mixed by the band's drummer Butch Vig.

I am cautiously optimistic. Totally loved the first two albums, hated the third, the fourth was alright, but not really on a par with the first two. If this is a return to the standards of the glory days, then I look forward to it....

Vig said is more like their first two albums (debut & Version 2.0) than the last two (BG & BLM).

The instrumental track from Garbage Returns! clip (posted above) sounds brilliant. It could be the instrumental of a new song, who knows...

What clip you meant? The very first one (46 seconds snippet) or the second one (Garbage returns)?

If you ment the first one, indeed it's just an intro.

Yeah, I did mean the 46 second clip...

The second clip I was like saying "Oi, shut up, dull American men, let the foxy red-head Scottish chick speak...." laugh.gif

Beautifulgarbage has the one of best string of singles compared to the quality of the parent album imo.

Very interested in this! Hopefully it's another Version 2.0 kinda jackpot but I'm happy even if it's even close.

I can't see them lighting up the world again, and personally, I preferred their career in reverse... I can take or leave the first 2 albums but love the last 2.

Not a popular opinion.

Casual fans seem to love Beautifulgarbage.

That's like a lot of pop albums, which is what that album was.

I know, most real Garbage fans think the complete opposite. I liked them... but never really loved them.

Yup, it's a bit like when Goldfrapp did "Supernature", most of the hard-core fanbase hated that album, and are not exactly too fond of the last one either...

I was obsessed with Version 2.0 for most of 1999. The perfect pop album. I killed it off. Push It made my Top 10 singles of all time for a period too.

I've only heard Bleed Like Me and bits of beautifulgarbage but the former is excellent, I'm very much looking forward to this! I think I'll have to check out their discography a bit further before it comes out.
