To W/E 2nd June, '21', by Adele has sold about 4,323,000 copies, in the UK. It has BPI Sales Awards for 4,800,000 copies - Shipped. So, it needs around 677,000 over the counter Sales, to match its 16 Sales Awards. It is one of the few Albums, in the UK's Top 10 Best Sellers, to have more BPI Awards than its Sales have earned. 'Gold', by ABBA, has 13 BPI Awards, but, it is entitled to 16, & maybe even 17, if we count Shipments. Its UK Sales are over 5,000,000, & it is over 200,000 Sales towards a 17th Award. It has probably earned the 17th Award, if we count its actual Shipments to UK Stores. |

Vidcapper - Oops! I was subtracting 4,323,000 from 5,000,000, & not from 4,800,000.
However - It means that Adele's Album is 680,000 Sales behind 'Gold', & yet she has 16 BPI Awards, to ABBA's 13. ('Gold' is on about 5,003,000 UK Sales by now) This post has been edited by zeus555: Jun 2 2012, 03:16 PM |

Now we just need 'I Can Only Imagine' to be certified as silver and then each single from 'Nothing but the Beat' has a certification: Silver to 'Where Them Girls At', 'Little Bad Girl' and 'Without You', Gold to 'Sweat' and 'Turn Me On' and now Platinum to 'Titanium'. Streak would've be extended to the last album too, had 'One Love' been a bigger hit that #46 - even 'Memories' was certified as silver.
Fantastic to see Lady Antebellum's combined sales celebrated, and the same can be said for Emeli Sande's 'Next to Me' and Coldplay's 'Princess of China' (though 'Paradise' has yet to be certified!). |

Still waiting for Take That's certifications to be sorted out! They need updating and single wise they haven't had a certification since RTW which says gold but has sold over 800k in the UK. Still waiting for Greatest Day, The Flood etc to be certified!
