What were 1D's US album sales this week? I do think the only act that can get in the way of 1D's nabbing the 2nd spot could be Taylor Swift's album unless 1D come up with sthg BIG for the autumn (TV special? Thanksgiving special? X Factor appearances and guest-judge?, etc.)

35k, total sales: 934,619 Bieber 559,080, next week prediction Bieber 45-50k, One Direction 30-35k. I agree with you that only Taylor has a chance to sell more than 1D, but last week amazon did a promotion and they was selling albums in promotion for 0.99$ ohmy.gif If they will do more promotion like this, it can change ytd chart.

From Chart Watch:
Two "boy band" hits, The Wanted's "Glad You Came" and One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" top the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. "Glad You Came" has sold 3,032,000 copies. "What Makes You Beautiful" has sold 3,026,000. These songs have set a new record for "boy band" hits in the digital era. The old record was held by Jonas Brothers' 2008 hit "Burnin' Up," which has sold 1,786,000 copies.

One Direction's Up All Night this week becomes the first album that was released in 2012 to top the 1 million mark in sales. It achieves the feat in its 19th week on the chart. Here are the rest of the top five sellers so far this year that were released in 2012: Lionel Richie's Tuskegee (951K), Now 41 (725K), Justin Bieber's Believe (649K) and Carrie Underwood's Blown Away (644K).
One Direction's DVD Up All Night: The Live Tour is #1 for the eighth week on Top Music Videos. It sold 13,000 copies this week, bringing its eight-week total to 223K.

Neither band has a follow up single strong enough to maintain themselves at this level of success both sales and charting wise. 1D are known for 1 song unless you are a fan and the same for The Wanted outside of the UK

True, but all 1D needed was a song. They've become the current craze irrespective of how many hits singles they've had unlike The Wanted who are the "band that sang GYC".

1D 1million sales wow. Has it shifted that many in the UK??? The Wanted's success is in no way comparable looking at those figures. They are really talentless both of them. BSB and N*Sync were way way way more talented 5ive and Westlife 2 which takes something because they are poo 2 blink.gif

1D sold about 650K'ish in the UK so far of their album. Not too bad, but the thing is this album will keep selling well for the rest of the year in the US (about 25-30K a month) so, should easily end up as the 2nd or 3rd best seller of the year (behind Adele and tentatively Taylor Swift).
