So I heard this the other day for the first time in years:

I'd completely forgotten about it and took me back to my teenage days instantly! Everyone remembers 'Chelsea Dagger' but this was their other top ten hit, it reached number 9 at the end of 2006, and got me thinking of other songs that charted high but are never mentioned or played anymore.

This one comes to mind instantly, and is about as different to the Fratellis as you can get:

Number 7 in January 2005, an era when you only needed a couple of thousand to chart that high tongue.gif Loved it at the time and I've never heard it played since!

Any others?

"Whistle for the choir" is a nice song. I remember a lot of songs that they are completely forgotten such as "Papa Don't Preach" from Kelly Osbourne, "Sundown" from S Club 8, "On My Knees" from The 411, "All Over" from Lisa Maffia and many others..All of them went straight to Top 10 but disappeared after some years..

Thank God "Papa Don't Preach" by Miss Osbourne is forgotten. It's an utter mess.

Talking about forgotten top 10 hits - I'm just converting 3 old 75-song box sets covering the mid-70's to early 80's - very few on there I remember, and many I'm glad I forgot! laugh.gif

I certainly remember it - I think I even have the video burned to a DVD somewhere. smile.gif

Got to #7 as recently as 2010, proceeding to drop to #53 in its second week and then out - I'm sure quite a lot of people on here will remember this, this being a chart forum, but it'd probably be a bit of a 'WTF was this' moment to most.

The Futureheads - 'Hounds of Love', cover of the track by Kate Bush. Peaked at #8 in February 2005. The band have had 5 top 40 hits since, the highest-peaking of which was 'Area', #18 in late 2005. I feel like this is definitely a forgotten track - and definitely a track that wouldn't be associated with a top 10 placing.

I still hear this on the radio all the time. I'm far more familiar with this than with the original version.

Some examples from 2000 onwards;

One of my favourite 'forgotten top ten hits', this is a glorious dance song, and #1 in my personal chart back in 2001, where it snuck to #9 in the UK;

Another #1 in my chart but I wonder how many other people can whistle Love Inc's 2003 #8 smash Broken Bones;

This was quite popular amongst my friends in 2006 but I still always forget that it was actually a UK top ten hit in 2006;

How about Fast Food Rockers' 2nd top ten hit, no they weren't a one hit wonder;

Queen Faye of Tozer managed a top ten hit in the UK away from Steps? Why yes she did;

BBMak's Still On Your Side, a CLEAR classic;

What's she gonna look like with an ABBA lawsuit on her?

Why does everybody make out like Eiffel 65 were one hit wonders. They had TWO UK top three hits! wub.gif

I used to ADORE this, another one to file under 'GRRRR, no they weren't one hit wonders!'

"Hounds of Love" is far from forgotten by a lot of the public, it's still very well-regarded by the indie community.

I think Parade's Louder is another good example. It was released last year, but I don't think a lot of people remember it/have even heard it.
I still don't understand how that managed to go top 10!

I don't think that "Impossible" is a forgotten Top 10 song..It's one of her best singles and all we remember it from the tragic version of Luke Lucas..

dario g was an awesome tune, as was the russell watson and faye tozer duet. in the same vein h&claire's #8 hit 'half a heart' and #10 'All out of love' could be added

How about 'Starz in their Eyes' by Just Jack? It peaked at #2 in early 2007 IIRC.

He was a bit of a forgotten one-hit-wonder.

I think:

Louise - Pandoras Kiss
Eternal - Someday / Don't You Love Me

are forgotten top10 hits. Actuallly they all made the top5. And they are never ever played on the Radio or mentioned really.
