Over the past few months you have been voting for your favourite number ones of all time. It has been a very long process but we are finally at the stage where I start revealing the results. You can still vote for songs appearing in the top 100, however 200 - 101 has already been decided.

All ties have been broken by number of voters, followed by the single highest vote, followed by the second highest vote.

Before starting, let's remind ourselves of the results of the previous Ultimate games

200 - The Jam "Town Called Malice/Precious" (1982) (+13)

1-1-1-3-11-20-39-54->8

Starting off the top 200 is the first of two songs by The Jam. One of my favourite bands of the 80s, this is a great song by them but my favourite Jam song is still to come.

13-3-1-1-2-3-10-21-29-32-34-52-71-71->14

Nice enough song, I haven't heard it many times. It sounds like the kinda thing I could get into if I was around at the time. This was Lisa's only number one single in the UK.

198 - Steps "Heartbeat/Tragedy" (1998) (+18)

2-5-5-8-8-6-4-1-2-3-3-3-6-10-10-15-16-20-23-24-30-30-32-42-41-48-57-59-65-69->30

I didn't expect this to be so low to be honest. Tragedy is arguably Steps' signature song, it spent a long time in the top 10 and it was helped out by their ballad 'Heartbeat'. I personally love Tragedy. This version is much better than the Bee Gees' original for me.

197 - Beats International feat. Lindy Layton "Dub Be Good To Me" (1990) (+20)

15-3-2-1-1-1-1-5-10-20-24-32-60->13

20 years before Professor Green rapped over this this was a #1 for BI, who had a short career with only two top 40 hits - both of those going top 10. This is alright but I prefer Green's version.

196 - The Jam "Going Underground/Dreams of Children" (1980) (+21)

1-1-1-3-6-20-33-49-72->9

And they're back again. Unfortunately for The Jam both of their entries show up in the bottom 5 of the top 200. Going Underground is my favourite song from them, it's really upbeat and everything a rock-pop song should be.

This is going to be a great countdown! Cheers Thermometer. dance.gif

My favourite of this is the original version from 1984 (when I was 15 years old...showing my age!) by The S.O.S. Band, "Just Be Good To Me" before BI and Prof Green tampered with it! rolleyes.gif wink.gif

195 - The Beach Boys "Good Vibrations" (1966) (+21)

15-5-1-1-2-2-5-9-11-11-15-23-36->13

I'm not a fan of The Beach Boys but this is one of their best, the chorus is one of the most recognizable of the 60s. Recently Brian Wilson and some other members were fired from the band following their 50th anniversary.

194 - Natasha Bedingfield "These Words" (2004) (+23)

1-1-4-7-11-10-14-23-28-35-41-58-70->13

We now get to the first 21st Century entry, and the first song that I was old enough to remember being out at the time, this was from around the time when I started following the charts. It's very good and at the time I thought it was a massive improvement from her first single, titled "Single". I always preferred Natasha to her brother, who has the same name as myself. Buzzjack seem to prefer Natasha too, as Daniel doesn't have any entries in the top 200.

193 - Madison Avenue "Don't Call Me Baby" (2000) (+25)

1-2-5-10-17-20-23-32-41-56-60-70->12

This is a typical late 90s style dance record. It is in no way the best out of the many brilliant dance songs out there, but it is still good. She had a short career, following this single up with a top ten and a top forty hit before disappearing.

43-19-5-1-1-1-1-1-5-9-9-13-28-40-63->15

This 80s power ballad was introduced to me last year when Amelia Lily did a performance of the song. The song is good for what it is but was it really deserving of 5 weeks at #1? I don't think so.

12-2-1-1-1-2-2-3-5-11-18-20-26-34-38-52-60->17

One of my favourites from George, a real 80s classic.

China In My Hand this low? Blasphemy. It should be at least 50 places higher.

Plus T'Pau is like the best band name ever (possibly).

190 - Snap! "The Power" (1990) (+27)

12-1-1-2-3-4-7-10-13-17-30-37-47-71-62->15

Featuring one of the most famous hooks of 90s dance music, a few years ago I remember it being in the cocopops adverts. This is definitely one of the best examples of old skool rap with an excellent sample. It's much better than DJ Fresh's 'The Power', which is completely unrelated to this song apart from sharing the same name.

189 - Paul Hardcastle "19" (1985) (+28)

4-1-1-1-1-1-3-14-16-24-31-36-48-69-74-69->16

This song, about the Vietnam War, has some good production here. It sounds very ahead of its time. What's strange is that the song and production is very upbeat and dancey but the lyrics are the opposite of that (being about 19 year olds fighting). I could imagine this going down well in a club in the mid 80s (if they existed back then)

188 - The Kinks "You Really Got Me" (1964) (+28)

34-15-4-2-1-1-5-10-16-20-26-47->12

This is one of those 60s songs that everyone knows. The Kinks were arguably the 3rd biggest band of the 60s (the top 2 being The Beatles and The Rolling Stones) and this is the song that started their career off.

1-2-4-10-18-26-34-41-60-67-70->11

This is a nice slice of 90s dance, on first listen. The singer of Livin' Joy herself commented on the video 3 months ago ohmy.gif

186 - Slade "Merry Xmas Everybody" (1973) (+30)

1-1-1-1-1-3-12-22-40->9

A Christmas classic that has and will continue to get played lots on the radio and during house parties in the build up to Christmas. Since leaving the top 40 in 73', it has spent another 50 weeks in the top 75 as a result of re-issues and download sales.
