I think it's Melanie B who didn't make the top ten!

Yeah Mel B definitely, she has had the worst solo material.

So let's get started shall we? I think I'll block post until the top 20 or so. No1Curr about the floppy bottom end of these rates usually! It's gonna be proper shit commentary though I'm afraid. I ain't half as witty or as clever as most of you guys on here.

STOP. SLOW DOWN. TAKE A DEEP BREATH.

41. VICTORIA BECKHAM | 'A Mind Of It's Own' | [AVG. 5.967]
42. MELANIE C | 'Understand' | [AVG. 5.895]
43. EMMA BUNTON | 'Downtown' | [AVG. 5.833]
44. MELANIE C | 'Melt' | [AVG. 5.788]
45. GERI HALLIWELL | 'Desire' | [AVG. 5.776] (More 10's)
46. MELANIE C | 'If That Were Me' | [AVG. 5.776] (No 10's)
47. GERI HALLIWELL | 'Calling' | [AVG. 5.683]
48. MELANIE B | 'Lullaby' | [AVG. 5.534]
49. MELANIE C | 'Goin' Down' | [AVG. 5.448]
50. EMMA BUNTON | 'All I Need to Know' | [AVG. 5.362]
---
51. MELANIE B | 'Word Up' | [AVG. 4.464]
52. MELANIE C | 'I Want Candy' | [AVG. 4.414]
53. MELANIE B | 'Today' | [AVG. 4.154]

As I said above. The bottom end is usually justified in the rates so it doesn't leave a lot to talk about. There aren't many surprises here if I'm honest. Most of them are deservedly this low, but then again, only 2 Geri Halliwell songs featuring in the bottom 13 is blasphemous. Should be about 4 or 5 of them (although we're rid of not only her worst song, but the worst song in this entire countdown already, so that's good). Only one Viccy B song features, surprisingly. But it's so underrated that song is wub.gif 50% of Melanie B's discography is out already. There seem to be a few Melanie C singles here, but that's to be expected, with her having like 3 times as much material as the others have! Emma Bunton loses just the two songs out of 10 which included one of her biggest solo singles and her last top 10 single.

"All I Need To Know" is a gorgeous song and deserved more.

"A Mind Of It's Own" is by far my favorite Vicky solo single, and I still think it pisses all over "Not Such An Innocent Girl"...

STRONGER. DEEPER. MUSIC. SET ME FREE.

31. MELANIE C | 'Rock Me' | [AVG. 6.320]
32. MELANIE C | 'Better Alone' | [AVG. 6.315]
33. MELANIE B | 'I Want You Back' (feat. Missy Elliott) | [AVG. 6.310]
34. EMMA BUNTON | 'We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight' | [AVG. 6.250]
35. MELANIE C | 'Yeh, Yeh, Yeh' | [AVG. 6.150]
36. MELANIE C | 'Let There Be Love' | [AVG. 6.143]
37. MELANIE C | 'This Time' | [AVG. 6.043]
38. MELANIE C | 'The Moment You Believe' | [AVG. 6.021]
39. GERI HALLIWELL | 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster' | [AVG. 6.017]
40. EMMA BUNTON | 'Crickets Sing For Anamaria' | [AVG. 5.983]

Melanie C loses a further SIX songs in this section. 'Rock Me' being, probably one of the better "buzz singles" (out of anyone) in recent times. Melanie B's first and only solo UK number 1 drops out at this early stage. 'I Want You Back' features hip-hop mega star, Missy Elliott and stormed to the top of the UK charts back in 1998 and iirc, it was the first solo Spice hit. Some more "good but forgettable" Mel C singles appear, the better one being the lovely 'This Time'. And holding up this section at the bottom we have Geri Halliwell's lead single from her 2nd era and one of Emma Bunton's worst songs. Both songs are as awful as they come. So it's no loss that they've dropped out so early on.

IF I TOLD YOU HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU. WOULD YOU SAY THE SAME?

26. EMMA BUNTON | 'I'll Be There' | [AVG. 6.603]
27. MELANIE C | 'Here It Comes Again' | [AVG. 6.450]
28. MELANIE C | 'I Know Him So Well' (feat. Emma Bunton) | [AVG. 6.444]
29. EMMA BUNTON | 'Take My Breath Away' | [AVG. 6.417]
30. MELANIE B | 'Tell Me' | [AVG. 6.345]

So in this bunch of five, we lose 2.5 Emma Bunton the forgettable 'I'll Be There', her duet with Queen Spice Girl (imo) Melanie C 'I Know Him So Well', which is also the most recent song in the whole rate. But most importantly we lose the incredibly beautiful and under appreciated, 'Take My Breath Away'. Such a gorgeous song. Melanie C not only loses 'I Know Him So Well', but also the power anthem 'Here It Comes Again'! The other Spice Girl to lose a song is (shock, horror) Melanie B with the decent, but dated 'Tell Me'. She has ONE remaining track to come. Will it be in the next set of songs, or will she manage to get herself into the top 10 with 'Feel So Good'?

I WILL BE YOUR ANGEL FOR LIFE. FOR LIFE.

21. GERI HALLIWELL | 'It's Raining Men' | [AVG. 6.839]
22. MELANIE C | 'Weak' | [AVG. 6.804]
23. GERI HALLIWELL | 'Bag It Up' | [AVG. 6.800]
24. GERI HALLIWELL | 'Lift Me Up' | [AVG. 6.672]
25. VICTORIA BECKHAM | 'This Groove' | [AVG. 6.633]

As we reach the top 20, Geri Halliwell finally loses 3 more of her tracks, the lowest of them three being my personal favourite from her, 'Lift Me Up'. It's so corny, cheesy and dated, but my GOD it's a major guilty pleasure. So cute. 'It's Raining Men' and 'Bag It Up' (two of the most WTF covers ever, for me! Awful) also manage to not make the top 20. IRM is a bit surprising as I thought it'd be an easy top 20 finisher. A single from Melanie C's brilliant 'The Sea' album also falls short at number 22. REGINA DEAD. R.I.P. and one half of Victoria Beckham's latest single (a double A-side with 'Let Your Head Go' - still to come) 'This Groove' also fails and drops out at a decent 25th. Melanie B has NO SONGS in this section. *round of applause*

So in the top 20 we have:

04 EMMA BUNTON
03 GERI HALLIWELL
01 MELANIE B
09 MELANIE C
03 VICTORIA BECKHAM

A Sporty Spice domination and I don't think it's due to the amount she's released either, what's left from her are GENUINE classic Mel C songs <3

Desire and This Groove are too low.

Geri's 'Ride It' or Victoria's 'Let Your Head Go' FTW!

Most of these are about right to be fair, my favourite solo spice is Emma and I love Crickets... I wish that had been higher. I'm surprised Downtown and All I Need To know are so low though sad.gif

Jonjo, unless I've misinterpreted, did you call 'Bag It Up' a cover? It's an original! Also, 'Scream' wasn't the lead single from her second album - 'It's Raining Men' was.

Sorry to be picky. kink.gif On the whole, good results so far! No major casualties. 'All I Need To Know' is hella underrated though. sad.gif Fairly surprised 'Lift Me Up' is that high - it's generally her most hated single amongst the hardcore Spice/Geri fans.

Looking back at it, Geri Halliwell was such a ridiculously amazing popstar. Her videos always went all out, her songs never really made TOO much sense and she could barely sing but it was just part of her charm! wub.gif It was a wonder how she was so successful and if we had a popstar like that nowadays they would be laughed at and ridiculed. I miss the 90s sad.gif.

Geri's "It's Raining Men" is SO good! I actually prefer it to the original! laugh.gif I find it her only really good single along with "Mi Chico Latino" - "Bag it Up" I can take or leave, and the rest of hers are awful. I'm surprised "Out of Your Mind" is still in this, I find it pretty weak.
