#40 ► Just For One Day (Heroes) • vs. Bowie

Starting the countdown is the Bowie sampling 'Just For One Day (Heroes)', which was released in 2003. The song is nothing special and is quite a lazy use of sample imo (although I'm not really one to talk about lazy sample usage, being a 'Shot Me Down' lover) It's not my least favourite of the bunch but I'm not complaining at this being last.

haha, this was my lowest score too. I find the production really lousy and too noisy.

And here is my least favourite, which I gave a 4 (all the other songs I rated higher). It's quite awful tbh and doesn't show what Guetta is capable of doing. Some of the vocals in this are off-putting and I'm also not a big fan of the guitar and lyrics in this. Good to see it this low.

#38 ► Little Bad Girl • featuring Taio Cruz and Ludacris

The lowest of the singles taken from Nothing But The Beat is, predictably, this. I was never a fan of it to be honest, it's far too generic - and Taio's pronunciation of 'air' doesn't help it. Neither does Luda's rap which is slightly annoying. The song went to #4 in the UK charts, making it the lowest song in the countdown that made the UK Top 40.

Aww I like Little Bad Girl, lol. Agreed that it's too generic but I personally think it's more fun/enjoyable than several of the later NBTB singles.

At #37 is a song that had been #40 for most of the results count up, until Ethan's 10 and a few other positive votes saved it. It's the second song avec guitar (hadn't he got the message that guitars don't work in his songs?), plus some shouting, both of which lower the quality of it.

I like this one too. Not quite sure why, possibly the guitar actually works for me.

David's friends Ludacris and Usher decided to work with him again, and produced something actually better than 'Without You' and 'Little Bad Girl' for me. The drop is quite impressive, but it's not one of my all-time favourites.

#35 ► Right Now • with Rihanna

Here's a song I thought would have been popular, but it turned out to be one of Rihanna's biggest flops in her whole career. Possibly because it's very generic, plus it's lack of video and promotion. It's not one of Rihanna's or Guetta's best for me so I wasn't that bothered about its floppage.

#34 ► LaserLight • with Jessie J

puke.gif // 🌚🌚🌚 (-1), Chez Wombat (-1), RuPavel (0)

We're now up to the third song in a row where Guetta is the featured artist, and this time he helps J-J-J-J-Jessie J make a decent pop song (not that she needs it). The production is quite uninspired though, with it blatantly ripping off the Titanium intro, which has probably led it to getting 2 -1s, as well as the marmite vocals of Jessie J.

I like Laserlight

It was always essential for a run back in April 2012

This is one of the few songs I wasn't previously aware of before the rate (flop Guetta fan, I know) - it's quite funky but doesn't impress me too much, I generally prefer his new stuff to his old.

At #32 is the first major standout in his discography to enter the countdown, and it is one of only two instrumentals in the chart. The song is very different for Guetta and I would love for him to go back in this direction again in the future. With house music becoming more popular, it's only a matter of time before he jumps on the bandwagon surely?
